Lydia gasps and gets up from the gurney trying to figure out what is happening to her and she sees her body in the ambulance bloodied and bruised. Lydia gets scared and tries to scream for anyone.
She sees Jack holding her hand and praying for her to be okay, she wants to say to him that she's alright but he can't hear her.
All Lydia can do is watch the EMT's try to save her life; she can't do anything.
Suddenly the ambulance stops and everyone gets out; one of the EMT is shouting we got a 30-year-old female FBI Agent with a GSW to the abdomen. The doctors take Lydia up to surgery with Jack following along but are stopped by the nurses. All Jack can do is wait for her to come out of this alive. Jack can't lose his best friend.
In surgery, Lydia watches as the surgeons work hard to keep her wound closed but it keeps on bleeding through the stitches; Lydia sees herself bleed out even more. She feels some wetness on her shirt and sees blood is pooling out. She gasps and gets scared even more, but she sees her sister. Addison looking at her and worried for her; Lydia runs to her and they both hug each other.
Lydia tells her that she misses her so much every day. Addison smiles with tears in her eyes and says that she misses her too. Lydia says "I want to stay with you". Addison looks at her sadly and says "You can't not yet, you have so much to live for". Lydia shakes her head and says "I'm already dying; why can't I stay here".
Addison tells her that it's not her time and tells her to go back to her body before it's too late. Lydia hugs her one more time and says I love you to her.
Lydia returns to her body. Surgeons almost call time of death when her wound starts to close up nicely and they see her heartbeat steadying. They carefully tend to her other wounds.
Jack is crying on the phone with Phyllis telling her the whole situation; Phyllis can't believe it either. He sees Brian Zeller, Beverly Katz, and Jimmy Price all coming into the waiting room rushing to get to him. Jack gets off the phone. Brian says "How is she?". Jack says " They took her up to surgery about 2 hours ago". Beverly says "I should've never let her go alone to look at the construction sites". Jimmy looks at her in disbelieve and says "Don't blame yourself; no one knew this was going to happen".
Suddenly one of the surgeons came out and the four of them rush to him, Jack was going to say something but the surgeon stopped him and said "She's recovering very nicely; she coded twice but we managed to close up her wound. The group is all happy hugging each other and Brian says "When can we see her?" The surgeon says " You can all see her tomorrow morning". The surgeon pats Brian's shoulder and leaves.
Jack looks at all of them and says "Alright guys I can stay the night; you guys can leave. Brian and Beverly look confused. Brian says "We aren't going anywhere; we are going to stay here and wait with you. Jack nods his head and sits back down with the group.
MORNING COMES
Lydia hears the noise of beeping coming from a machine near her; she slowly opens her eyes and sees a nurse near her checking her vitals. Lydia smells the air; the disinfect smell so strong, and the soap in the air smelling cheap and alcohol like. Lydia sees the nurse's name tag it reads NURSE ELAINE.
The nurse sees her eyes open and says " Welcome Back Agent Forbes how are you feeling?" Lydia looks at her and says "Like I've been shot". The nurse smiled at her and says "Are you up for some visitors". Lydia smiles back and says "Sure", and tries to move around but she hisses and lays back down.
Lydia hears loud footsteps; it sounds like two people. She sees Brian and Jack walking towards her. Jack comes to her and kisses her forehead. Lydia closes her eyes. Brian comes to her and asks "How are you doing"? Lydia looks at him and says "I've been better". She sees their appearance and frowns and says " Did you guys spend the night"?
The two of them nod their head and Lydia frowns and says " You guys look like hell" They all laugh. Jack asks her "So, how long do you have to stay here"? Lydia looks at him and says " About a week or two, I'll be back to normal. Suddenly Lydia feels odd; her hand starts to twitch. Lydia says " I don't feel so good".
All of a sudden Lydia starts to seize uncontrollably; she hears Jack and Brian call for the doctors. The doctors gasp and move her head and move her body down so she doesn't bite her tongue. They call for neuro and they rush her to surgery again.
After Surgery
The doctor had said that Lydia had a small brain bleed that didn't occur until the morning and that she was in a coma. Everyone gasps at what he said. Brian looks mad and says "Why didn't you guys find the brain bleed yesterday"? Jack tries to calm him down but Brian is beyond mad. The neurosurgeon says "We didn't look for a brain bleed because she only had a gunshot to her abdomen". Brian says "Unbelievable!" He scoffs.
Jack asks "When will she come out of it"? The neurosurgeon says " We don't know; the brain bleed is patched up but we have no way of knowing when she will come to it, we will monitor her every day to see any signs of her coming out of it".
Jack's phone starts to ring; he answers. Jack hears about a crime scene seven bodies found decayed. He tells the group to all go to the crime scene, and he starts to leave to; all this waiting eats at his soul. He tells himself that Lydia will be alright.
Will Graham is seen at the hospital asking one of the nurses about Lydia Forbes; they direct him to her room. He looks around the room and sees Lydia's state; she looks so still laying there; she almost looks dead.
He had gotten the call about Lydia's seizure and was in disbelief when he found out. Will walks towards her bed and slowly puts his rough warm hand on top of Lydia's hand holding onto it dearly.
