"Welcome home Agents!"
A doctor greets them, the nurses carry them on their stretchers.
Chris reaches for her hand and he turns towards her, before being divided into different rooms.
"Jill, how are you?"
"Sorry if I made you worry about me before. I'm ok, I can handle this." It's not that convincing to him with that voice still broke.
"Stay strong, I'm with you. Love you Jill."
"Love you Chris." They whisper to each other.
Each one goes to a different room. Alone with themselves.
White all around, sad. Making him feeling worse.
Down on his feet he prepares for the exams, switching his clothes with the scrubs on the bed. The weather outside the window is cloudy, just like his mood. "Please Jill, be alright..." he says within himself, after staring outside for some minutes.
Sadly walking outside the room he meets Dr. Rebecca Chambers.
"Hey Chris! I was late from work and I wasn't able to welcome you. Are you both ok?" They hug friendly.
"Jill and I are stronger than steel, I'm sure we're gonna make it." Bittersweet smile.
"Yeah. Come on, I have to examinate you."
Chris follows Dr. Chambers. Blood test, electrocardiogram, MRI.
Jill is there too, in the opposite side of the room, divided by little white curtains. Some worried voices are heard by her side, doctors are telling each other to hurry, someone has to hold her apparently. When it comes to him, he's already done with his blood sample without even paying attention to that needle in his veins. What's happening to her? He's too far to listen properly but something doesn't seem right with her. Next thing to do is EKG. Rebecca sets the machine to check Chris, Jill is being carried to another room. His gaze trying to peek behind the curtain, she looks so tired. He was so glad about everything, things could only get better but there was that small odd of her health going worse after the virus had being awakened in her system. Even though everything was far away better than the imaginable he still felt miserable. The hero feels just hurt and worthless after winning that war.
After some hours his checkup is complete, he goes back to his room.
"Chris!" His sister Claire, quickly getting up from the chair where she was waiting him.
The two siblings run onto each other and share a big warm hug.
"Claire, you've got no idea what happened. I'm so glad you are here."
He tells her about everything, Jill is alive, Wesker is dead. Crying, releasing his feelings in his safe space. She knew perfectly how he suffered after Jill's assumed death, indeed she was the one who kept his mental integrity when he came back from Russia. Months of mourning, her brother devastated as much as when they lost their parents in that damn car crash. How the hell did Jill threw herself out the window just to kill Wesker? The burden he felt afterwards, they were used to be saved by each other, but that? That reckless sacrifice, that heroic action she did, for him. That was too much for Chris to bear. Their relationship has always been so special, unique, undefinable since the old days. Partners, two soulmates that know exactly what each other need, they always matched up together in every mission when possible, they just work like magic when together. After three months of research she was declared dead, no evidence of her body whatsoever but he had some faint hints of her being still alive. Soulmates' intuition, he joined every mission around the world in order to find her. That feeble hope was keeping him alive, even though he was percieved as deluded. Then, that mission in West Africa. Chris went to Jill's grave to give her flowers, before every mission he was there to tell her that he was going to find her. Arriving in Kijuju he found out her pictures in the Delta files, going forwards every disgrace and difficulty helped by Sheva. Jill is finally found, Wesker is killed. The world has a less treat. Tears of happiness, relief, outburst down his cheeks.
She climbs on his bed, a big hug to her brother. Comforting him like they always do since their childhood.
"Let's meet her then! Come on." Claire gets up pulling his hand.
"Yes sister, let's meet her."
He's taking her hand like he was the younger sibling, feeling insecure and looking for her care. Her room is found, they enter.
Jill is half asleep and she doesn't notice the two inside her room right away.
"Hey Jill, we've got a nice guest today." Chris gently wakes her up with a kiss on her forehead.
"Claire!" She answers with a faint smile, her physical weakness shows in her voice.
"You're still here, thank God."
"Tell me, how hard is to live without me?"
They all smile at her question. Both siblings take her hands.
"I thought I'd lost a good friend, and Chris his lifetime partner."
They cuddle Jill, showing her all their love and appreciation for her.
"I'm going now, I'll leave you to spend some time together." Claire goodbyes her brother and Jill, she's now gone.
That room has some machines attached to her: oxygen tube in her nose, a pulse monitor clipped on one finger and she also has medicines dripping through her veins. Staring at her eyes he gently strokes her hair.
"Any good news?" Asking her, concerned.
"They didn't like what came out from the MRI, my organs seem to be a little bit larger. After the blood test's result are ready the doctors will decide if I need a biopsy surgery. They took me a lot of blood, I fainted. I was already so weak, got some vitamins injected by that dripping bag. My head is also killing me. I just wait a this point." They both sigh.
"Biopsy surgery, they're gonna cut tissues from your organs? Damn..."
"Yeah, wish me luck. What about you?"
"I'm fine." He says it like it's nothing important. What Jill said was going to give him a bad night.
"At least you are."
"You are going to be alright as well Jill, nothing kills you."
"I wish so. Sorry Chris, I feel terrible. I'd like to sleep."
"All right, do you want me to sleep near you? I'll move my bed here."
"I would like to. Thank you."
Chris asks for permission to a nurse to move his stuff in her room. No problem with that, actually it was a good thing to have someone looking after her.
"Goodnight Jill."
"Goodnight Chris."
Hand in hand, they fall asleep.
Some voices are hearded, she opens her eyes feeling numb. Is that paradise? Everything white, no perception of her own body but a faint chance to think. Moving her gaze exploring that room she finds a blonde man staring at her with some files in his hands.
"I cannot wait to use you as my first test subject. What a nice revenge against you and that single-minded partner of yours. Imagine the irony: the brave cop who dedicated herself to fight B.O.W.s becomes a B.O.W. herself. It's what you deserve for daring to put sticks into my wheels."
Wesker. What's going to happen? Unable to move, unable to scream, she's trapped in her body. How did she and Wesker survived that fall? Something was happening inside of her, an old feeling she experienced once so many years before. Needles inside of her, loosing consciousness.
"So, the T-Virus woke up mutated inside of you. Interesting. It spawned soon though, I feel like I won the lottery: this body is a golden chest of T-Virus antibodies. My project is going to be a success because of you." She hears, even that evil laugh. Still unable to move she realize she's completely naked. Her chest is burning. Wesker is inserting something on her. A feminine voice can be heard as well, both faces laughing at her.
"Albert, what a nice gift I gave you. That suits very well on her." That black-haired woman is touching the metallic device on Jill's chest, sliding her hands on her breast down to her crotch. Jill is full of rage, unable to do anything but feeling that woman's hand gaining domain on her naked body.
"Excella, you like her I see. Feel free to use her as your own servant." Jill is trying to scream with all of herself...
"No!" Jill wakes up screaming, breathless. Chris wakes up hearing her, he rushes to lay at her side to comfort her.
"Jill, everything is alright. That nightmare is over." He hugs her tightly while she calms down from sobbing.
"Oh God, Chris. I dreamed about what I've..." She's not able to keep going.
"Calm down, there's no need to explain if that hurts you." Chris kisses her temples repeatedly.
"Wesker and Excella...what they did to me..." Jill lays down inbetween his arms, telling him about everything.
Chris is speechless, he takes her hands to give her comfort and safety. He lays her on her bed, spooning her and fixing the oxygen little tube into her nose.
Everything she feels now is pure love. He's kissing her cheeks, cuddling her, until falling asleep. Chris is shocked, how those bastards dared to do that to her? If someone told him back in '98 that their captain was going to do all this mess he couldn't believe it. He was supposed to help both of them, his best cops but, instead he tried to kill them and tortured Jill for years. Those thoughts plus the concern for Jill's surgery were enough to make him lose his mind, he then reminds himself that everything is okay, she's going to be okay. That hope left him falling asleep as well, by her side.
