Chapter 15: School Gets Weird

He's avoiding me.

He's definitely avoiding me.

Why is he avoiding me?!

I kicked open the door to Class 1-A with shadowed eyes. "Sawada Tsunayoshi. Gokudera Hayato. Yamamoto Takeshi." I glared at them. "Come with me."

Gokudera huffed, "Why would I listen to you, woman-?"

Tsuna looked at the exit I wasn't blocking, "U-uh, I have to go see Reborn-"

Takeshi didn't meet my eyes, "Ah, I have practice so I'll see you later-!"

I tilted my head with a smile. "Come with me, you little shits."

All three gulped, their faces pale. "Yes ma'am!"

I smiled at them, and lead them out to the empty hallway before I trapped the three of them within a corner. "Why are you avoiding me?"

Neither of them met my eyes as they started to scramble for excuses, to which I simply silenced with a glare. They all went quiet, until eventually Gokudera gave in first. "You were acting strange yesterday." At my glower, he gulped and hesitantly added, "Nee-san."

I crossed my arms at them. "And?"

Tsuna didn't know where to look. "We weren't sure if M-Mukuro still had control of you." He also shrieked in fear and added, "Nee-san."

My smile widened. "And who thought of that stupid conclusion?"

Takeshi tried to placate the situation with a grin. "You see, Nee-chan, we're not holding anything against you or anything you know, it's just…!"

"Was it you, Takeshi?"

Visible sweat drops appeared at his face, and in the end it was Tsuna that burst out in apology.

"I'm sorry, Nee-san! I just never knew you were actually such a scary person - which I'm realizing now as the truth because you are really scaring me right now - and you were oozing bloodlust and it just seemed off coming from you because you always treated me like a little brother and so I thought maybe Mukuro still had remnants of control on you so I told everyone that maybe we should be a bit more cautious around you but I didn't think all of us would come to the same conclusion to start avoiding you and I'm really sorry for-!"

I tuned the rest of Tsuna out.

So it's not that he was afraid of my newfound Sanguigno powers.

He just thought my personality was off, so he was worried.

…Geez.

Is this how Tsuna charmed Takeshi into the mafia business?

I'm feeling touched!

"N-N-Nee-san?" Tsuna called out hesitantly, to which was replaced by a yelp of surprise when I ruffled his hair with a big fat grin.

"I'll be counting on you to continue calling me 'Nee-san,' Tsuna! And don't think you're getting off scot free from it either, Tako-kun!"

Gokudera glared. "My name's Gokudera, you damn—" I ruffled his hair too, a little more aggressively so he understood that my suggestion was an order. "Yes, Nee-san."

I noticed Takeshi give a smile at us, so to make sure he didn't feel excluded I just grabbed the three into a large group hug.

These fourteen year olds may have to grow up fast from the mafia shit they have to go through, but they'll always be my adorable little brothers. I'll make sure of that, at least.

"Hibari, I thought we were on a truce!"

"That was then. This is now. Fight me."

"EEK!" I dodged another blow. "WAIT, just wAIT A SECOND!" He actually stopped trying to murder me, but he looked at me like I was crazy for telling him to stop. I averted my eyes. "If you want me to fight you, I need a weapon and uh... mine is at home. S-so can we maybe do this later, when I'm not on patrol duty?!"

A few days had passed since I adopted my kouhai as my little brothers. I had felt relieved at Hibari no longer trying to constantly beat me into a pulp, but my relief was all for naught when I realized the crazy bastard was waiting for the day I fully recovered, seeing how he attacked me on sight while I was making my morning rounds of patrol duty.

Which is happening... at this moment.

We had attracted a crowd, considering we were in the courtyard of the school. There were many whispers, and it was then that I accepted my fate as forever being the Goddess of Death, Izanami-sama, who also knew how to fight the Demon Prefect Hibari Kyoya.

A silence had passed, and Hibari smirked. "Wao. So you're not running anymore, carnivore?"

Whispers of, "Did you hear that? Izanami-sama has been acknowledged as a carnivore!" "She must be a monster!" echoed amongst the crowd.

I smiled sheepishly. "Do I have a choice?"

Hibari put away his tonfas. "Looks like you finally understand." And then he flashed a rare smile. "Now, how did you get here, little one?"

My eyes widened, my heart beating rapidly at the sight. "H-H-H-Hibari?"

"Hibari! Hibari!" chirped Hibird as s/he (who knows the gender) flew off my head and onto Hibari's shoulder.

Oh.

He was smiling at Hibird.

I thought-

My dumbass thought-

Noticing my internal dilemma, Hibari frowned at me. "Carnivore?"

"I, uh-!" I averted my eyes. "We're making a scene, and you hate crowding so uh I'll make sure I find you at a better time to talk about that debt I owe you. Ah, I'll find you at your house or something, if you wanted to fight me, since I don't think I should bring a weapon onto school grounds."

Hibari's frown deepened. "Carnivore?" he repeated.

"I'm not in the right state of mind right now, so I think I'm going to retire early for my Disciplinary Committee duties, please take over for me, Hibari! A-and uh…!" I shut my eyes tight. "You should smile more! You look nice!" I finally blurted out. Refusing to see his reaction, I escaped into the school building.

Bonus:

Izanami-sama, Nami-Chu's Goddess of Death, had a face resembling that of a tomato, a clear symptom of a girl in love.

The male population of the crowd stared at her with mesmerized eyes, watching her escape into the school building with one thought and one thought only: Cute.

Unknown to the knowledge of the general population, the skylark thought the same.
