Chapter 2: Dreams of a Water Goddess

As Zuko and Iroh came back home after Zuko help free Appa from the Di Lee Prison, he felt so dizzy. "You did the right thing. Letting the Avatars bison go free." Iroh said as he closed the door behind him

"I don't feel right." Zuko said as he held his head. Everything was spinning and turned black. He closed his eyes and collapsed onto the floor.

"Zuko!" Iroh went to his nephew's side.

Zuko was having a terrible dream as he sat at the fire lord's throne. Two dragons approached him and he was fighting to stay awake. All his surroundings started to collapse and disappear into the darkness. He was left standing in the dark alone. It started to become foggy and he turned around and there was a dim light in the distance. He started to walk towards the light and he suddenly hear water running and heard a woman calling out his name. He froze and then started to run towards the new sound.

"Zuko! Where are you, Zuko!?" the woman screamed. Zuko could her the panic in her voice which made him panic.

"Where are you!?" He yelled back into the thick fog as he continued to run towards her voice. He ran until his feet started to hit the water and looked at the ground and looked up and there she was.

"I'm here!" he yelled. She turned around with tears in her eyes and smiled with joy and relief. Zuko felt calm and relieved to find her and felt happy to see her even though he didn't know her. They started to walk towards each other. He suddenly felt his legs stop and tried to move them but they wouldn't and look back up. There was a man that looked like a fire nation guard but with old gear. He went towards the woman and reached for her. Zuko tried to warn her but no words were coming out even though he was moving his lips. The man got ahold of her and yanked off her necklace which had a blue crystal that shined bright and started to chant a curse.

"Wither and decay, end this destiny, break these earthly chains, and set the spirit free!" as he held the necklace in his grip, the crystals light now fading and turning black. She begged to stop. Zuko saw her eyes turn black as night and turn toward the man and froze him on the spot making him let go of the necklace. It fell to the ground. Zuko fell to his knees and felt weak as his life was being drained. He got up and ran toward the necklace and picked it up as water started to rise and was now up to his knees and yelled at her to stop

"You have to stop! This isn't you! Come back you me!" Zuko yelled at her. She looked at him and stopped and her eyes went back to normal. And the blue light shines bright again in Zuko's hand that held the necklace. She was weak and started to fall backyards. Zuko ran and caught her in his arms. She opened her eyes and looked into his golden ones and he looked at her ocean blue eyes. He helped her stand up.

"Thank you, Zuko, I knew you would come." She said as she placed a hand on this left cheek and leaned in and kissed his lips. Zuko never felt like this when he kissed other girls even Mai and he loved the feeling of it and wanted more. She had a scent of the ocean and her kiss felt warm and gentle. They parted for air.

"Zuko, your father can not give you your honor back. Deep down you know this, you are the only a pawn in his plans. There is no future for you if you choose to be by his side. Help the avatar and bring peace to the world as the true fire lord and restore the honor of the fire nation, our home, as it once was. I will be by your side if you do. You will meet me in Ba Sing Se under certain circumstances. I want you to tell her that she is Kai and that you will be on her side even when it looks like you aren't. Find me, Zuko and don't let me go into darkness." She placed her hand on his that held the necklace. She grabbed it and took the pendant off and placed it into his hand again.

"Keep this safe at all costs and I will protect you until you find me. I love you, Zuko." She kissed him on the check and disappeared. He was left in the dark once again and then the fire lord palace was there and there she was in the courtyard and Azula. It was like seeing through a window. Azula conjured lighting and shot it at her and it struck her. Zuko only watched in horror and was now engulfed in fire as he heard Azula laughing in victory.

Zuko woke up gasping for air and sweat on his face. "Zuko, are you alright?" Iroh asked with concern for his nephew.

Zuko felt something heavy in his hand and opened it to see the pendent was there. Iroh saw the stone in Zuko's hand.

"How is this possible, uncle?" Zuko asked showing him the shining blue stone.

"Where did you get that, prince Zuko?" Iroh said in a serious tone.

"I don't understand, uncle. I thought it was only a dream. How can it be here?" Zuko was looking back and forth between the stone and Iroh so confused as to how it could possibly be in his hand.

"Tell me everything that happened in this dream of yours." Iroh said to Zuko as he gave Zuko a cup of tea to calm down.

Zuko told him everything except the kiss. "So, the legend is true. She has returned then. This stone belonged to Kai, a powerful water bender who brought peace to the world. This stone was given to her as a betrothal from her future husband, a fire bender. Zuko understand this, this stone was destroyed when she destroyed herself. So, if you have this now, you have to take her side, Zuko. It is not wise to be unfaithful to a spirit who can control life and death." Iroh said to his nephew in a serious voice

"I understand uncle." Zuko replied.

"Zuko, the only person she ever trusted was her beloved husband…Zuko I'm afraid that you are the recantation of her husband, seeing how you have the stone now." Iroh said with a smile growing on his face.

"What!?" Zuko said as he choked on his tea.

"Oh, my nephew will be such a lucky man. She will be beautiful of course and loving." Iroh smiling with joy as he drank his tea.
