Chapter 21: I'll Bite You to Death

I thought I died from a bomb explosion. Instead I was teleported to ten years into the future, with Hibari Kyoya glaring down at me with one haunting phrase, "Get her out."

With the added factor of having to deal with the problems I ran away from, managing a mafia family, and fighting an evil mafia boss, to say I was stressed was an understatement.

"Lady Izanami, are you doing okay in there?"

"Fine… in fact, I'm just peachy!"

"Milady, if you wanted me to leave you alone you should've said so." I didn't respond to that, so she continued, "I'll check up on you in ten minutes."

I was currently taking a bath at the Sanguigno base, hoping that at the very least would help me destress. It didn't. Instead, it was trapping me inside my mind. In other words, I was only thinking about Hibari Kyoya.

…With good reason!

I mean, it had been a few days since I time-traveled, and Hibari was doing everything he could to avoid me. I frequented the Vongola base to train with everyone, and every time I so much as stepped a toe into the room he'd be gone in an instant. He was treating me like I was some kind of... some kind of pest!

Why?

When that should be what I'm doing?!

After all, I'm the one who left him! He was the one who treated me like I was some sort of sparring tool, so why was he avoiding me?! It's not like he should care about me leaving anyway, he has plenty of strong people to fight! Like Mukuro, Dino, even Reborn-!

I let out a frustrated groan, and I splashed the water.

I should probably talk to him.

If he'll even let me, my brain helpfully added.

I washed myself off, and headed out the bath with a newfound goal. I was going to approach him, and demand answers. He has no reason to avoid me anyway, and if he's going to keep doing this it's going to drive me crazy! Especially when there's no point in running away now. Where else would I go anyway? The Sanguigno base is super close to the Vongola one.

Ah… With my clothes on, of course.

I underestimated the difficulty of my newfound task.

I forgot I had other problems to deal with, like learning how to fight with the box weapons and managing the work the future me wasn't able to finish. I also forgot I had to talk to my adoptive little brothers, who I also ran from. Which brought me to where I was, currently.

Gokudera frowned at me. "I can't believe you never came back."

Tsuna sent a smile, hoping that would ease the tension. "I-I'm sure Nee-san was busy, Gokudera-kun! I mean, she was training to be the next Sanguigno Decimo, I know personally how hard that is-" Tsuna pursed his lips. "Though, a visit would've been nice."

"Oyaji and Rui-san were really sad, you know!" Takeshi averted his eyes. "Takesushi wasn't the same without you."

"Ah, mou!" I clasped my hands together in apology. "I'm sorry, okay! I won't run away anymore, I promise!"

Gokudera grumbled. "You better... Juudaime was attacked because of you."

My blood ran cold, and immediate guilt filled my system. "What?"

Tsuna immediately scolded him. "Gokudera-kun!"

The silver-haired teen crossed his arms, this being the first time I see him show defiance to Tsuna. "I don't see why we have to hide this from her, Juudaime. It's the truth, after all."

Tsuna sighed. "I know, but if you put it like that she can misunderstand-"

I started to panic, examining Tsuna for any injuries or anomalies on his body. "Who hurt you? Are you okay? Any injuries? Did you have to go to the hospital? You don't have any scars do you? Why did they attack you? Were they after me? Was it... was it one of the Varia?"

"Nee-san it's nothing of the sort! It was just Hibari-san who wanted to know where you went!"

I blinked. "What?"

Takeshi gave a nervous smile. "Hibari was really aggressive the day after you left, Nee-chan. We followed your orders and didn't tell him where you had gone, so he attacked Tsuna…"

"…He... he did what?"

I could tell Gokudera started to get annoyed. "What don't you understand?! Hibari that bastard went and attacked Juudaime because you told us not to tell him where you had gone! Honestly, just what was the reason why you didn't tell him you left-"

I grit my teeth. "If he went that far to know then why the hell is he avoiding me now?!"

Takeshi blinked. "Oh. Right. Now that you mention it, he really has been avoiding you, hasn't he?"

My hands clenched into fists, and I frowned. "I have to talk to him. I've been meaning to but now I really have to. Just what…" I shook my head. "I'm really sorry you had to go through that, guys. I swear that I'm done with running away. I'm going to go talk to Hibari now."

"U-um… actually, Nee-san, he should be coming here pretty soon. We were supposed to meet today for training, but it got postponed a little later. I don't think word has gone to Hibari-san yet, so we can leave."

I smiled. "Thanks, Tsuna. I appreciate it."

He smiled back. "I hope you resolve things."

I waved as the trio left the room, and I sat, thinking about what to bring up to him. What could I say? How could I-?

The moment he entered the room, I threw my knife at him before he could think to escape. He of course deflected it with his tonfa, and he glared at me with narrowed eyes. "Watch it, herbivore."

I glared back. "And that's coming from the guy who's constantly running away from me."

He got into a battle stance, his familiar bloodthirsty grin appearing. "So you've finally decided to fight me?"

"Yes! No! That's not why I… Ugh!" I sighed. "You know what, there's no easier way to say this other than directly, so I'm going to say this before you run again."

He narrowed his eyes. "I don't run. Only herbivores do."

"Then why are you avoiding me?!"

"I'm not."

I groaned in exasperation. "I don't get you, Hibari! If this isn't avoiding me then what is? Whatever the hell you're doing, can you at least tell me why?"

He narrowed his eyes. "You left without notice."

"So you decided to treat me the same way? Is that it?"

Hibari stared at me steely. "You have a duty as a Disciplinary Committee member. Leaving without notice is irresponsible of you. I was merely showing you the consequences of your actions."

I glared. "Yet you were in such a hurry to know where I was. To the point where you even hurt Tsuna?!"

He glared. "You told those herbivores not to tell me."

I shut my eyes, growing more and more annoyed by the second. "You're not making any sense, Hibari. Why would you care if I didn't tell you?"

"You are a carnivore."

My fists clenched at the cursed word. "Just what…?! First I'm a herbivore, and now suddenly I'm-?" I glowered at him, tears in my eyes. "Just what exactly is that supposed to mean?! What the fuck do you want from me, Hibari?!"

"You."

I scoffed in disbelief. "What?"

He narrowed his eyes. "You… don't do that. You're a carnivore, you…"

"Carnivore, carnivore, carnivore! You keep throwing around that word like it means something, Hibari, but guess what?! I'm not a fucking carnivore!" I glared. "I'm so sick and tired of your ideals being pushed onto me, okay?! I'm a coward and I always will be! I ran away after all. I ran! So stop…" I choked up a sob, before steadying myself and grimacing. "Stop coming to me if you're just going to use me as some... some tool to make you stronger!"

BAM!

He pushed me against the wall with one of his tonfas, holding me in place. He glared at me. "Stop. Stop making that face."

I felt tears start to gather as I stared at him in disbelief. "What the fuck are you talking about-"

"That." He looked distraught, his eyebrows knitted together as if he was confused. "Don't do that. It's annoying when you do that."

Hurt, I glared at him. "So I'm annoying now?! Well, so are you, Hibari Kyoya! Showing up every damn second of the day, demanding that I fight you, exposing these different sides to you, making my heart flutter, making me want to scream in frustration all the time, flooding my every thoughts, avoiding me - agh, you're so damn annoying, Hibari Kyoya, sometimes I just want to-!"

His eyes shadowed. "Izanami."

My fists tightened, angered at how even now he managed to greatly affect my heartbeat. "What, you fucking assho - mmph!"

In an instant, Hibari's lips captured mine and killed all further speech. Before I could protest further, his free hand caressed my cheek and pressed my lips closer to his, his skillful lips causing my brain to turn into mush and my entire body into jelly; soon enough, I found my eyes fluttering shut.

When our lips broke contact, I opened my eyes drowsily. "W… Wha-?"

His eyes showed a glint of amusement. "That shut you up rather quickly."

That instantly snapped me awake, my eyes sharpening to glare at him. "Are you saying you only did that to - mm!"

Hibari kissed me again, his lips entrancing me back to my previous drowsy state. Hibari pulled away, and before I could snap out of it and get mad at him again, he leaned his forehead on mine, his soft gaze the sole thing that flooded my vision. He let out a low laugh. "Izanami. You're making me get herbivorous feelings."

I averted my eyes, aware of my burning face and heavy breathing. "W-what is that supposed to mean, bastard?"

"That means you'll have to be punished. Prepare, herbivore." Immediately, his eyes sharpened into an almost lustful gaze, and Hibari freaking Kyoya whispered into my ear, "I'm going to bite you to death."

My eyes widened, and I shut my eyes tightly, feeling him nip my ear and then… nothing. Confused, I opened my eyes to see that Hibari had let go of the tonfa that had been pinning me to the wall and was just watching me with an amused expression.

"Hn. Seems like you wanted the punishment, herbivore."

Feeling my face heat up in embarrassment, I turned away from him. "Fuck me…"

"Hn… Maybe later."

I froze, and let's just say I had to use many ice packs to get my cheeks back to their original color.

Later that day, Hibari called out to me. "Izanami," he said.

I stiffened, not used to hearing him address me that way and also feeling flustered from what prior events occurred between us. I turned to him, averting my gaze. "W-what is it?"

He crossed his arms, and I saw a very light pink dust his cheeks. "You display your emotions confidently. That's why I said you're strong." He then walked over to me, lightly pecking me on the lips before leaving the room.

It took me a minute to realize what he was talking about, and I found myself beam with happiness.

"What do you think of me, Hibari? …What am I to you?"

"You're strong," he immediately replies.
