Chapter 13
My mother and biological parents praised me for being able to find a path that I adored. It was amazing. To be a Herbalist is hard work. You have to learn every single aspect when it comes to all types of plants. Is it easy? No. Is it hard? Very much. My nights and days are spent learning every single plant and leaves out here to make the perfect tea.
Sometimes I dabble against Sam's wishes when it comes to herbal medicine. I'm not supposed too. He feels a certain way about it but I can't help it. Plants and leaves are starting to become my obsession.
It be some days where I will travel to Forks to their herbal shop to learn new facts. It is no herbal shop on neither tribe. It'll be private practices out of homes but never a full frontal store so it became a very strict goal of mine that I would start my own. A family business that my children will one day take over themselves.
I started to concoct my own teas in Billy's kitchen with Jacob's help. He has been a very big help and I can't help but admire him. This man will be Alpha and Chief of the tribe in the future so to see him learning at a young age is very inspirational. This dude will one day run things.
I shake my head standing in front of Sam's screen door listening to the rain pour down like crazy outside. I still have yet to patrol. "Sam, I got my period today." I say walking to the dining table and sitting down. "I don't want to lead a bloody trial." "Trail?" Sam ask reading the newspaper. "Yeah. A trail. How Dave doing?" I ask. I heard his day on the job was a couple of days ago.
"Very nervous. He rode with a fellow friend of mine." He say. "I bet. You, Jared, and Robert still...speak to him." I say smiling. "Always." "Yeah. The police is like a second family to you all. Very emotional and bright. All of you should get together and take your shirts off for charity. Perhaps, like a calender. Not you and Jared though but you should suggest that to your coworkers."
Quil shake his head grinning. I grin myself. Just a great idea. "Don't you get tired of asking people to get naked, Mia?" Sam ask. "No! I been on the Kairo Tribe a couple of times to get a look at Tristan. His sexy self. Not the point. Marcus told me that Melissa keep trying to call my cellphone." I say smiling.
"You have a cellphone?" Embry ask. "Naw. I used that phone booth next to the General Store. The line is always busy." I say disappointed. I know she hear that dial tone when she calls back. "Very uncalled for to sleep with your brother. How's the relationship?" He ask. "Not too good. He's his own personality. I'm not the type of person who'll do a confrontation cause you know what you did. I simply walk away and move on with my life. I won't gonna let him get to me. It shows that he has no loyalty and respect."
"Well, he did think you was talking to his imprint." Sam say. "I don't speak to her. She was in the wrong herself to think to play two siblings against each other. It backfired against her. Shawn got a nasty personality and she lost two friends cause of her lies. That's between him and her."
That's all I can say. I'm over here. You're over there in your feelings. Going after my girlfriend meant nothing cause I don't have to deal with you. "Seven weeks?" Embry ask me.
"Almost seven weeks. I'll drop you decent." I say getting up from the table. I walk to the screen door again. I'm thinking. I ain't got to patrol till two more hours but I don't want to stay here. I knew that I should've left early when I first seen those dark clouds in the sky.
"Sam, can I make it without getting a drop on me?" I ask stretching my arms. "You can try, Mia." He say flipping the page for me. "Can you get the door for me?" I ask. He don't respond. "I ain't want to bring this up but Paul and Rachel are not here so maybe, they won't show up for dinner later." I say sitting back down at the table.
He sigh folding the newspaper and looking me in the face. "What is it, Mia?" He ask. "That was it, Sam. It's only four of us in your house. Everybody else is gone. I'm so bored. I should've brought a Playstation or a game system so me and Jacob can play with. I'mma go buy one." I say getting up. "An X-box." Embry say. "X-box." I whisper going to the front door.
I open the screen door. The sound of the rain falling hits my ears. I shake my head. I ain't gonna make it. "I go out, I ain't coming back in." I tell Sam. "Go home, Mia." He say just as the phone ring. "I'mma wait to see who that is, Sam." I say being nosey. I close the screen door and sit down on the couch next to Quil. Sam gets up from the table and walk to the phone.
You can tell with each step that I'm making him mad. He grabs the phone. "Hello." "Hey, Sam. Is Mia there?" Marcus ask. I shake my head. "She right here. What happened?" "I want her to come over to speak to Shawn and Sandra. It got nasty now." He say tired. "He tired of his brother and Sandra." I tell Quil. He shake his head.
"We'll be over." Sam say hanging up. "Come on, guys." I say waving my hand getting up. Sam head upstairs. "I'm not going in that rain." Embry say. I don't want to go either. "Okay. Sam, can I have an umbrella?" I ask walking to the staircase. He don't respond. "Okay. I'll weather the storm." I say tapping on the doorway. I will weather the storm. I head for the kitchen when he walks back down toting a black umbrella and wearing a black shirt. He goes out of the front door. I zoom myself around the dining table and follow behind him.
The walk to Marcus's house is very silent. When we get to Marcus's house, we're forced to take our shoes off in the kitchen. I roll my eyes walking into the living room to see Shawn and Sandra sitting at opposite sides of the coffee table in the recliner chairs. Some of Shawn's pack is here. "Thanks for coming, Sam." Arnold say holding out his hand. "No problem." He say shaking his hand.
"Let's talk. What's all of this stuff that you do with my sister?" Marcus ask Sandra. "A lot of stuff." She angrily say looking in Shawn's face. "In the end, your lies is the reason that Shawn slept with two of your best friends." Arnold say. "Never friends to begin with, Arnold. Shawn was never that guy for me." She angrily say.
"She's telling the truth. She's eighteen years old. Why call a meeting when all she did was speak words? Your brother was the one who took the situation out of proportion." I tell Marcus. What is the meaning for this meeting? "You're right. Just wanted it to be settled." He say looking in Shawn's face.
"You should've did this before he started to get nasty. You hours, days, and weeks when you first heard that it was discord in their relationship. The same for Shawn! You are not her parents to call her here!" I yell in disbelief. The hell is wrong with you. Everybody look at Marcus and Shawn. "She's right." He say looking in Lincoln's face.
"You're the only one in their business. Shawn already destroyed the relationship. It was not that serious." He say. "It wasn't. The dude won't trying to listen in the first place when she first spoke on me. She felt the relationship was going a certain way then that is her right. That's your brother. Your brother with the chip on his back when it comes to me. Don't do this again, Marcus. You're hurting Sandra's feelings."
She looks at Marcus. "I am. I apologize. I thought that the situ-" "Two." I say holding up two fingers. I tap on the fingers. Scott looks at Shawn. "I feel how I feel. I felt my si-" "Not that serious when you could've used your mouth. Trust me when I tell you that I do not think of you as my rival. I hope you get that attitude and personality in check cause you showed bright and early that you are not worth having nobody by your side. Oh, well."
"Oh, well." Arnold say looking in Marcus. "I thought they could work it out if they situation calmed down and Mi-" "Baby, you are late." I casually say tapping on my watch. "Five weeks from my knowledge when we were at the beach and Shawn showed off in the forest. Sandra is not the problem. Your brother is!" I yell for him to hear.
"Well, I figured that you and Sandra was into something behind my brother's back." Marcus say in a low voice. "Your attitude is the reason why your house always smelling like Salmon and Cheetos." I say. "It does smell like that." Sam say looking at Arnold. "I figured they cooked fish last night." Me and Shawn's friends laugh.
"His girlfriend has a woman's problem." Lincoln say to his Alpha. "It's called 'another boyfriend'. Is this done?" He ask Shawn. "Yeah. Now, Mia and her can be together." He say getting up from the recliner. "Well, I hope it was worth it." Scott tells him. "It was." He say.
"Well, it worked out in the end. She found out what type of person he truly is and what type of person her friends. Who wants a man who slips easily cause of his sister? Words? Sandra is eighteen years old. A lot of fishes in the sea. She'll be okay. College is in coming up in August. I'm sure she'll find a great guy. You are who you are supposed to be, Shawn."
I look at Marcus. "Anything else?" "No. You?" He ask his little brother. "No. I'm done. I'm going home." He say walking to the front door. Bye. He places his hand on the doorknob and look back at me. "I hope it don't backf-" "I have no clue what you are speaking on. That is your own personality, attitude, and behavior. I wish you the best." I say shrugging.
All I can say. I don't even know nor care for this issue that he is living with. He swings the door open and storm out of the house. We turn our attention to Marcus. "Are you done?" Sandra ask him. "I am done. I'm sorry this happened." He say watching her get up. She grabs her pink umbrella from next to her recliner chair and leave out of the house.
Scott closes the door behind her. Marcus looks at Sam. "Just wants to know if she ever talked to Sandra, Sam." He say. "Is this done?" Sam ask Arnold. "Yes, it is. He shattered his own imprint's relationship. Let's go." He say. Scott open the front door again and Shawn walks in drenched wet. "This is hilarious." I tell Marcus.
"Well, when you're not in the th-" "He did not have to sleep with her best friends." Lincoln say. "And, he didn't want to listen to one wo-" "Aren't you the friend who had his back at the beach when he got in his attitude towards me?" I ask cutting Scott off. I know for a fact it was him having Shawn's back. "I was but I seen what type of person wh-" "Let's go." Sam say walking back into the kitchen. I shake my head at this mess following behind him.
"Sorry about not having a dryer." Jacob say wringing my shirt out in the kitchen sink. "Its okay. The first time being this drenched after patrol." I say leant up against the counter. Not the first time that it has rained like this but I never gotten this wet. I just got finished changing into a pair of pants and bra. My clothes are on the front porch. Crazy. My mind is still wrapped over Shawn and Sandra's situation. I do hope they work it out even though Shawn blew it to another level.
"Well, you'll get used to it." He say. "Just hate the mud but not wearing undies is a plus." I say staring at his neck. He been home for almost four hours since I came here. "Always." He say glancing in my face and heading for the front door. I sigh taking a seat on the couch. I know ain't nobody brave enough to steal our clothes off the front porch.
He walks back in and closes the front door with an attitude. He heads for his bedroom and close the door. Am I missing something? Did something happen? I get up off the couch and walk across the living room to look out of the window. I look out to see a beat-up red pick-up truck driving past the house heading off the tribe. That's Bella's truck. Maybe him and her are fussing.
Let me go see. I walk down the hall to his bedroom. I lightly knock and open the door up slowly. He's on his bed resting his head in his hand. "Hey." I lightly say walking in and closing the door behind him. "Not in the mood." He say. I chuckle a little bit taking a seat next to him on his bed. "Not forget that time is time. One bad day does not stop your good days." I say rubbing on his bare back.
A teenage boy will be a boy. Jacob loves him some Bella. He will die for her. Dum-Dum Dooooom. Me and Jacob look out of the window to see the lightening strike in the dark sky. Well, Billy is at Sue's house again. Rachel and Paul ain't coming out tonight for dinner. "Bella chose the leech over me." He say. "Well, she stay doing that but that's not the point. The fact is that you don't ever do that I mean stop." I say wagging my finger.
He shake his head taking my hand off his back. "Just one day. Do you know how many people chase behind others for months to days to make them see that it's them?" "Lots." "Exactly. Once they get them, they end up married and having loads of children." I say waving my hands around. Never give up. "Never give up?" He ask getting up.
"Never give up till you're ready to give up." I say getting up myself. "Okay." He breathes out pacing. "You good?" I ask grabbing his shoulders and making him look at me. "No. I wan...want to move on from Bella." He say doing all to avoid my eyes. "You're saying this now but it'll go away over the time." I say pulling him into a hug. He's a big fella who needs a hug. He hugs me back wrapping his arms around me. "You're still her best friend." I mumble in his warm skin.
He pulls back staring into my eyes with his chocolate brown eyes. I'm just now realizing that how beautiful his eyes are. He leans down and slowly but gently touches my lips. I respond awkwardly. My first kiss, right?
