Chapter 23
I'm seated on Mom's bed while looking through our old family photo album. I can't believe this. Marcus on the bedroom door walking in. "Hey. How you doing?" He ask. "Unsure. I feel very nerved over the recent events." I sadly say.
"Well, your mom and her boyfriend stole the credit card and went on a shopping spree. Selling the house is the only way to pay this man back his money." He say looking around. I groan irritated. All it took was the detective three days to locate Mom.
She was in Reno, Nevada three days later. Her and Hector was arrested. Now, we gotta move the freak out. Where all of this crap going to go? A freaking storage while Mom finds us a new home.
Lord, help us. "Hungry?" He ask. "A lot. I can use a cheeseburger and some chili fries." I say smiling. I am starving. "How about a salad and a fresh smoothie?" "No." "Then, you're not getting that. Eat for Coby."
"That's what Coby wants. He wants a burger and fries." "Well, I'm not buying nor paying for it." He say. "Alright. I will eat what is in the house." I say closing the photo album. I'm not going back and forth with him over what I should eat.
"You sure? I'm not coming back." I really don't want a salad but I am hungry. "I am kind of hungry." I admit. I shouldn't pass up a meal cause I'm not getting what I want. "Well, let's go." Alright. I put the album on the bed and leave out of the room. We head down the stairs when the front door opens up to Shawn.
"Black eyes!" "Shut up. Elizabeth left Colby a letter. He's down." He say nodding. "Expected. We're going out for lunch. You wanna come?" Marcus ask. "Yeah." I hit the lights off around the house and head out. I make sure the doors are locked before getting in Marcus's car.
We drive to Hutt's Café which is on the tribe. As the we drove, the smell of vampire was pretty high level in the air. It made me think that one was on the tribe due to how close it smelt but I'm unsure.
I pour the third cup of ranch into my second chicken salad. I am really hungry today. "Coby must be hungry." Marcus say looking out of the window. "Yes, he is. I don't remember the last time I actually had a salad. This ranch is delicious." I say grabbing my fork. I stir it around.
Oh my god! I am so freaking hungry. Shawn grabs his glass of soda and drink. "You two haven't ate." I comment. "Our appetite disappeared." "She don't care." He say. You damn right. When I am hungry then I am hungry.
Ding! Dong! I turn around to see Jacob, Sam, and Paul walk into the diner. "What's going on?" Marcus ask. "A problem came up. Jacob wanted to make sure Mia was okay." Sam say. "I am okay." "She is okay. Elizabeth is gone." He say. "Sad to here that." He say watching Jacob walk over. "You okay?" He ask grabbing my arm and helping me stand up.
"Yeah. Are you okay?" I ask chewing. He's the one in a mess. "Just nervous." He say looking down at my baby bump. "We're all good. Calm down." I say rubbing on his shoulders. "He can't." Sam say. "Well, we're making sure that everything is okay. She's good. She's safe." Marcus say.
"Not the salad though." Shawn say grabbing my fork but I snatch it out of his hand. "That's my salad." "What do you wanna do?" Sam ask Jacob. "Get her out of here." "We can take her back home. She's in good hands." Marcus say. "Container, please." I tell waitress behind the counter. "Sure." Yes. Let's head home.
I sat in Marcus's house for three hours until the issue with the two vampires had been taken care of. Shawn and Marcus was tensed during lunch but I won't. I was attached to my food cause I knew I would not be in danger. The wolfpack would handle things but what made my heart beat was Jacob being very worried about me.
When the coast was clear, we and the cousins walked back through the forest. You can smell the vampire scent in the air and the smell of burnt flesh. That's how it smelt to me. It turned my stomach upside up.
"Are you okay?" I ask Jacob crossing my arms. "A little bit. Just glad that you're okay." I smile. "Me too. Shawn and Marcus was on the edge while I was eating." "Cause they knew it was a vampire close by." Sam say.
"Right. I wasn't worried. I knew my friends had my back." I say smiling. Jacob sigh looking behind him. "Oh. Sam, can we kiss?" "No." He answers. Oh, wow. "Why not?" "Cause he said so, Mia." Jacob say turning back around.
Well, I hold his hand instead. You can't go wrong in holding your baby daddy's hand. He entwines our fingers. "You two been together?" Sam ask. I giggle. That is so childish to say. "We reconnected, Sam." Jacob say. That's how I would put it. He stops walking and look at Paul.
We continue our walk till we're off the Kairo Land. Jacob tells me how his dad has been very much liking Lindsay lately. I'm happy over Billy being happy. He talks all of the way till we reach his home where he unlocks the back door and allow me in first. I still have Sam and Paul on my mind. Enough is enough.
Paul think he is slick always rambling to his Alpha cousin. He's a freaking user. If I was Rachel, I wouldn't put up with him either. If you really did want me then you would've fought for me but you did nothing for almost two weeks. You mope till you speak or Sam take notice. Neither one of them is ever gonna used me again.
"So what do you wanna do?" Jacob ask locking his back door. "A lot." I say unbuckling his jean shorts. He takes his shirt off and toss it on the couch. He grabs my face and kiss my lips. We make out going into his bedroom and stripping down naked. It don't take time for us to land in his bed.
It feels as though it is worth it. It feels as though he needs the comfort to know that me and his son has been protected. I needed it myself. So after we finish, we lay in his bed staring up at the ceiling before morning sickness causes me to nearly throw up on his bed.
I think it was the ranch sauce. It ended up upsetting my stomach. "How you feel?" Jacob ask rubbing my stomach. "Horrible. My mouth is numb. It hurts." "You wanna go to the hospital?" He ask cradling my baby bump. "No." I say laughing.
I don't need a doctor. Just normal actions in a pregnancy. "You want water or something?" He softly asks me. "I think I want River." "What does that mean?" "River Black." I proudly say. "River?" "Yeah. River Black. Our land is separated by a river. We flow together. I mean just think on it."
"I'll think on it. I've been thinking about Jason." He say smiling. "Jason is cute. I mean we got months to decide on his name. I think now we can concentrate on ourselves." I say wrapping my arms around his neck. My heart is nearly beating out of my chest. He leans his lips to me and kiss me. I kiss him back.
Me and Jacob continued to build our relationship over the next couple of days. It was just us being a normal couple even though the threat of vampires is still out there. Some days he would eat at my house. Other days, I would cook and eat at his home. We would go back and forth.
It all came to a surface when Emily called me to invite me over for dinner. I wanted to turn her down but I knew Sam would have my head if I did. I ended up agreeing. I thought plenty of times asking Marcus to accompany me but I knew this was an issue that needed to be solved like adults. I knew it would be about Paul. I was ready for him and Sam.
"Thank you, Jared." I say taking the salad bowl from him. I sit it next to me and put some salad on my plate. "Not the ranch." Jacob say grabbing the Island Dressing for me. I thank him and pure some.
"So who wants to go first?" Jared ask looking down the table at Sam. "Sam is mad cause I am not a back-up for Paul no more." I snidely say. That is the main issue. Everybody look at him. "I'm not understanding that part."
"Just want what is best for my cousin, Jared." "And, what is that?" "He wants to be with Mia." I laugh. This man is a freaking clown. "You sold her to Paul?" "I never sold her." I just entertain myself with my salad. You ain't gonna tell me that you sold me.
"You decided before she phased that she would be with your cousin?" Emily ask. "Yes, I did." "Now, you're obsessed to always have her for your cousin?" "I wouldn't speak on me being obsessed." "How do you put it?" Jared ask.
"He got me like a dog. To be honest, it depends on how Paul is feeling towards Rachel. He wants her then Sam will tell me off and make it seem like I am the enemy. If Paul wants me then he will horribly obsess till I am with this man even though I am seventeen years old and I want to explore dating other guys. This is what I have been slaved into."
"Not slaved." Sam say. "I have been slaved into this. I am being made out to be the enemy but Sam will learn that you can't tell no new wolves about imprinting without the story of how you treated Rachel. I can survive but Rachel's story will be told. You are no Alpha."
"Jacob, how do you feel about this?" Emily ask him. "Jacob is the same as Paul. The only reason he is my face is cause Bella dumped him and went back to Edward. This dude used me while he was injured cause of what I did to his sister but I like him too much. I came back for him."
"And, how long will this last?" Sam ask Jacob. "This is a problem." Jared say. "Been a problem for months. You're just now finding out how deep it is." "I apologize for how Sam treated you, Mia." Emily say to me.
"Emily, this man is an adult. He is no Alpha. He lost my respect a long time ago. The same for Paul and Jacob. People think it is funny to use women but God is watching and they will pay. Well, not Sam. Sam got you, Emily. He's happy. He's secured. He's safe. He don't have to worry for a damn thing."
"That is true." Jared say. "How long are you and Mia going to date?" He ask Jacob. "Don't know, Sam." He say in a low voice. "My cousin suf-" "Your cousin had plenty of time to date Mia. Why not?" Jared ask Paul.
"Cause I had Rachel on my mind." He say looking in Jacob's face. I am just going to end this. "Why would you date Mia if you're not going to fight for her?" Kim ask him. "Cause I'm scared of Sam and Paul, Kim." "You're also using me till Bella comes back pregnant." I add.
"Bella is pregnant?" Jared ask him. "Not that I know of." "I seen the future. He got her pregnant. In the end, I won't have nobody but Sam and Paul hunting behind my fucking back till the day that I fucking die!" I spit out.
"Don't disrespect my house." Sam say. "If I wanted to disrespect your house, I would burn it to the ground. Jacob got Bella pregnant. Both will be happy together and that is what you get when you have unprotected sex in his bed with brand new sheets to make sure that I toxic what they both did."
"Not how it happened." Jacob say in a low voice. "I honestly do not care. We are not going to be together cause you cannot stand up to Paul and Sam when it comes to me. I'm a manipulator. You hated me for that. That's what Sam told you. It sent you running straight to Bella. Our relationship is over. All we can do is raise a baby."
That is all I have to say on the situation. It will never change that Jacob loves Bella more than he will love me. "Does she know about Mia and the baby?" Jared ask him. "No."
"We're going to keep it that way. I don't want to ruin a love story that he fought hard for. Me and Mom is moving out of state. We're going to live with my dad. I am done with this pack. I am done with Sam. I am done with Paul. With those two around, I will never...live a life. That's how I feel, Jared. I'm telling you this cause you are the second."
"Alright." He say looking at Sam. He looks at Paul. "I have nothing to say, Sam." He say. "Never do unless it is ratting to Sam how much you need Mia or how much you need Rachel. Thanks for the dinner, Emily." I say scooting back from the table. "It is no leaving this pack." Sam say to me.
"I will kill myself before you ever think to chain me to Paul ever again." I coldly say knocking my plate of food off the table. I storm right of the front door and walk across the front yard. If I could, it would be so much steam coming out of my head. "I only chase behind Rachel." I hear Paul say. The main reason that he is a freaking clown.
