Chapter 26

I slowly open my eyes to a padded white ceiling. What the heck is this? I sit up and look around the lightly dark room. Wolf vision really does come in handy. I look at my clothes. A white uniform. A mental hospital. That's exactly where I am at. I take the blanket off me and get up off the bed. I wonder how I ended up here. I touch on the wall. It's padded also.

What in the world? I walk up to the door and look out of the squared door window. The hallway is empty. I grab the doorknob and turn it. I slowly open the door and stick my head out. Everybody is sleeping.

I walk out and close the door behind me. I look down both ends and decides to head left. I run hearing my bare feet hitting the floor. I turn the corner and run into a lounge room.

Chess boards. A flat screen TV. Three couches. This must be where they relax. I walk to the glassed double doors and look out. The moon is really out. I unlock the lock and open the door.

I breathe in the fresh air. Oh, this is good. I run across the yard passing a small pond. When I reach the white picket fence, I jump over it and run. I simply run straight into the forest. I don't know where I am going but I know I have to leave.

I don't even phase. It might cameras around the forest. The dirt and grains of the forest dark my normal white pants legs, brown. Just dirt. All I do is run till I reach a main highway. It is no building in sight. I start my walk. A walk would do good to clear my mind from the situation that I found myself in. The walk last for at least forty minutes to an hour.

It was a long walk. To my luck, a payphone is located near the diner. I run over to it and pick up the receiver. I smile hearing the dial tone. Nice. I dial Marcus using collect. Ring! Ring! "Hello." Marcus say.

"Hello." "You're up." He say relieved. "I am. I mean I am up. I am outside of that building." "Where are you?" "I don't know. I'm by a diner. I walked. I have no idea where I am at."

I really don't. I look around. "You're still in Forks. Go in the diner and wait." "Alright. Maybe you can tell me what is going on." "I will when I get there. See you soon." "See you soon." I hang up and look at the diner.

A teenager worker is flipping the channels on the TV in the corner. I sigh heading for the diner. Let me go scare her. I walk up the steps and open the door. Ding! Dong! "Welco..oh." She say frowning. "Thank you. Just waiting on my brother." I say walking in. "Do you want me to call the police?"

"No. No. Just gonna sit in the booth." I say taking a seat on the booth. "Are you sure?" "Yeah. I am sure." I am most definitely sure. "Do you have time?" "9:23pm." I thank her. She excuses herself and go through the kitchen door.

She's probably going to tell the chef. I wouldn't blame her. Here I am dirtied in a uniform from the mental hospital. I am so crazy. I sigh focusing all of my attention on the TV. "She just came in." The lady say.

"You wanna call the police?" "I don't know. She's from Greenwood. She looks like she escaped." I get my butt up and scurry out of the diner. That is not going to work. I can't afford to be arrested.

I start my walk down the road. Hopefully, I'll run into Marcus and his car. I'm hoping. I walk, walk, and walk even more till I spot a car driving on the road. The red car drive by me and come to a stop.

I crack my knuckles. Is it a murderer? Is it a pedophile? The driver does not get out. He takes out his phone and dial a number. "Forks Police Department, how can I help you?" I run my butt right into the forest hearing the guy report me. It seems he's an employee of the mental institution. Him reporting me gives me the courage to start running.

I'm basically in trouble now. I've been outed as missing. I finally spot Marcus's car driving down the road and I run out. He pulls to the car and Shawn quickly gets out.

I run right into his arms. "You okay?" He ask hugging me tightly. "Yeah. I don't know what happened." I say hugging him back. "You been in a coma for four months." Four months? Oh, wow.

"It has been tough and scary." Marcus say getting out of his car. "Well, I'm here now. I'm up." "You are and you gotta go back." He walks around the car and gives me a hug. "I'm not going back."

"You'll be getting out." Shawn say running his hand through my hair. It has grown to a certain degree. "You broke out. Let's take you back" Marcus say grabbing my arm and placing me in the back seat of his car.

Shawn rubs his face frustrated getting in. "What's the problem?" "Nothing is the problem." Marcus say walking around the car. He gets in and drives us off. "Four months. You helped take down Victoria. When you went unconscious, you never woke." Alright. "My family." "All doing good. Visiting you day in and day out. Us too." He explains.

"Paul had a son. His name is Caleb." Shawn adds. "Okay. What about Jacob?" "He is doing good. He accepted the engagement of Bella and Edward. Their wedding is next year."

"How is Alexander?" "He's doing good. He's walking now. He's getting big." That is good. We drive pass the diner. I slide down. "I think it is too late for that, Mia." Marcus say.

"You got an attitude?" "I don't have an attitude. I think you shouldn't have broken out. The door was locked." "It was actually unlocked." I say sitting back up. I look out of the window. Trees. Trees. More Trees.

"It was unlocked." "It was unlocked. A power outage. Everything was dark. I'm guessing it's a different power grid from the diner." "Well, it's miles away. Things have been up and down since you went into a coma." "Are you real?" I ask. "I'm real. Shawn is real."

"Can you hear my heart?" I ask touching my chest. I can feel my heart beating. "We can hear it, Mia. You're real. This is real." "Do you remember anything?" "Nothing. All I remember is being thrown backward and hitting the tree. Is it a scar?" "Partially there. Light but there." Alright. That's a good start.

We drive back to Greenwood. The red car that drove pass me earlier tonight is parked in the front. It is completely dark. "It is dark." Marcus say parking behind the car. See! The power is out. The entrance doors opens up and a white man walks out. "He called the cops on me."

"Let's get out." Marcus say turning the car off. We all get out of the car. "Thank you for bringing our patient back to Greenwood. I'm Dr. Courtney Hill." He say. "Now that is a lie." I whisper Shawn.

"Mia, calm down. It is a doctor name Courtney Hill." "She called us. The power is out." "The power is out. The generator should be coming back on now." He say. "Do you mind if we walk her back to her room?" Marcus asks. "Of course not. Come in."

A power outrage affected parts of Forks. It played on the news in the lounge room the next morning. It is still a lot to take in the fact that I'm in a mental hospital and four months have passed. Mom had arrived at around nine. She talked to my doctor. She was informed on me breaking out.

I was the only one who acted due to everybody else being sleep. At least it was not a dangerous situation. I ended up being released. On the ride home, Mom explained me that I have PTSD. I had experienced a very traumatic situation that made me mentally drained to a point where I went to sleep for four months.

I have no idea on the situation but it is what it is. I'm up now. When I arrived home, my friends and brothers was there waiting for me. Of course I hugged every single person including Paul. It was like a small welcome home party. Conversations was everywhere. When Mom and her boyfriend Frank went to bed, I made sure both were sleep before sneaking out.

I walked through the forest till my feed took me to Paul's house. I walked into his backyard and he opened the backdoor for me. I don't know why I visited him but I needed to. I felt it. I don't know why. I walk into his house and look around his junky kitchen. Baby bottles are all in the sink.

You have baby toys all around the living room. I smile. He closes the door behind me. "Kids are cute. Marcus said his name is Nathan." I say. "His name." He say walking up behind me. I laugh blushing. He is standing behind me. I turn around. "Congratulations on your son. I know you're the best dad. Do you love it?"

"Love it." He say. "That's good. I took care of Alexander and as hectic it got, it was beautiful. Rachel lives here?" "No." I wonder why not. "Okay. Four months is a very long time." I say putting my hands in my back pants pockets. I don't even know what else to say.

What can you say in a situation like this? He steps forward causing me to step back in fear. "Alright. I'm like super tired." I nervously say taking my jacket off. Maybe this was a bad idea to come here. I walk around the island counter. He watches me.

I head down the hallway and into his bedroom. I turn the light on to see a bluish green crib next to the bed. Not only that but baby clothes are piled into a basket. I groan uninterested. I hit the light off. This is not going to do. This dude is a dad.

I turn around to see him standing at the end of the hallway. I leave out of his room and walk pass him. He grabs my arm and turn me to face him. "What you want?" "A Thursday?" I ask shrugging.

Knock! Knock! I look at his backdoor. "Mia, come out." Marcus say. "Just wanted to see Paul." "You seen him. Come out. You gotta get back home. Your mom might be worried." He's right.

If my mom finds me then she will be worried. I wave Paul down. I wanna kiss him. He leans himself down. I grab his face and peck his lips. "Mia, let's go." Marcus say. I peck Paul a few more times. "I think I like th-" "Let's go now!" I kiss Paul's cheek and walk pass him. I open the back door to him and Shawn.

"You done?" "Not really." I say stepping outside. "You're trying to have sex with him." "I can't?" "Not right now. Not with Paul when he has Rachel. Both him and her are in a relationship." "I didn't know that." I say going down the steps. "Yes, you did." Shawn say. "Leave me alone, Shawn." I really did not know that.

"You need to understand that things have changed." Marcus say watching me walk pass him. "You think I don't know that? Four months, right?" I ask with an attitude. "Four months. Paul has his imprint. He has child. You can't be over here playing games and trying to destroy a relationship, Mia."

"So it is my fault?" "Nothing is your fault. Rachel is his soulmate! Both got two years together and a son! That's their family. You are not in it." He spit out. "Why you yelling at me?" I calmly asks. Shawn shakes his head. Paul walks up to the back door. "Just telling you the truth. Your imprint is out there."

"You speaking on Tristan?" "Don't know for sure." "Nothing is real. All of it was simply a dream. That is what you simply told me. I won't there, Marcus." I say shaking my head. "We know you won't but you can't break up Nathan's family." He say. I angrily punch him across his face. He laugh. Shawn too.

I laugh myself. That was funny. That was real funny. "You done?" "Yeah. I am done. Just readjusting into my life and learning that you can't and will not tell me who I can and cannot be with." I try to punch him again but he grabs my fist and twist it around my back. "Calm down."

"Marcus, let her go." Shawn say. He let me go. "Never should've came back." I softly say. That's how I feel. "You had no choice. Let's get you home." He say grabbing my arm and forcing me to walk. "None of what you said was real." This story about me being pregnant by either Jacob or Paul. The child being named River. I was dating Luis. My imprint was Tristan and he didn't even want me.

"None of it was real. We'll try to figure out what is going on. We'll help you get better and make the right choices in your life." "Ain't no right choices when it comes to you, Marcus." "Cause he sees all of the wrongs in our lives." Shawn say. Exactly. "You still with Sandra?" "Yeah." "Kairo imprints?" "All are alive."
