Last chapter my babies!
I hope you enjoy, sad to see this story come to an end, especially the characters I have created. I hope you all have enjoyed the ups and downs and the story line.
For the last time...
On with the show...
Beth POV
"Bridget," Claire started, tears following down her cheeks, I was holding my breath, squeezing the life out of my mom's hand. "You have done nothing but been there for me and my kids, I don't think I would want anything else. Yes, I will marry you."
I squeal and jump and down with Cat, so excited that Claire said yes.
I watch as Bridget and Claire share a sweet kiss, after Bridget placed the ring on Claire's finger. After the kiss, Claire pulled Jake's arm and Bridget pulled Jade's arm and they all had a family hug. I took my phone out and took a photo of them all.
Their moment was interrupted by my mother and my auntie popping two bottles of Champagne and spraying it over the family. The music restarted and the whole party started to dance and talk again.
I walk towards the group, "Well, that was a fun little surprise wasn't it."
"I can't believe you all knew and sang to me." Claire exclaimed, she wrapped her arms around Bridget's waist again, pulling her close. "I don't think I am ever going to loose this smile for a while now."
"Oh I don't know, Jade will probably piss you off." I answered, pushing Jade's shoulder, who in turn glared at me.
"Oh yes, I forgot who my children are." Claire laughed, "Oh god, Bridget, you're going to be a step mother."
"Does that mean I can finally live my life out as the step mother from Cinderella?" Bridget asked, in all seriousness.
Jake hugged Bridget around the middle, tightly, "You have got to be the best step-mom, I have ever had."
Bridget hugged him back, shock in her features, "Thank you, buddy." She hugged tighter, closing her eyes.
"Well that answers if the kids are okay with it." Claire said, pulling Jade into her side for a hug, "Come on guys, we need to change our clothes, then we can come back an party."
**1 Month Later** Jade POV
"Come on, Cat, we need to finish this song before we go back into school." I said, whining, leaning back on my bed.
Cat threw her arms up, "But Jade, it's still summer vacation. Why can't we go next door and hang out in the pool with Beth again?"
"Because we have shit to do, come on Cat." I plead.
"Fine," Cat whined again, pouting.
Been through some bad shit, I should be a sad bitch
Who woulda thought it'd turn me to a savage?
Rather be tied up with calls and not strings
Write my own checks like I write what I sing, yeah (yeah)
"That's it Cat, I think we have everything. That was just the last verse we needed to get sorted." I said, moving off the bed, sometimes it is like pulling teeth working with Cat. I go towards my closet and pull out a bikini, I look to Cat, "Do you need a suit?" She nodded and I threw one her way.
We finally got ready and made our way to next door. As we walk through the Smith house we hear singing and laughing. As we entered the back yard, we witnessed Beth and Santana messing around by the pools edge.
Beth
Puerto Rico...
My heart's devotion, let it sink back in the ocean.
Always the hurricanes blowing,
Always the population growing...
And the money owing,
And the babies crying,
And the bullets flying.
I like the island Manhattan.
Smoke on your pipe and put that in!
Santana
I like the city of San Juan.
Beth
I know a boat you can get on.
Santana
Hundreds of flowers in full bloom.
Beth
Hundreds of people in each room!
Beth pushed Santana in the pool and the gang and the parents laughed at the show. Santana came up to the surface, surprising Beth while she was showing off and bowing, pulling her into the pool by her ankle.
"I swear to god, girls, if we have to ER today because you two are rough housing I am going to kill you." Sophia said, sipping on a glass of wine.
"But Tia, you have been drinking a load, and the other mother's, who do we know that can take us to fix our heads." Santana said, dramatically.
"Have no fear, Santana dear!" Beth yelled, getting out of the pool and coming towards me and Cat. "My lovely girlfriend has doth arrived." She raised an eyebrow, looking confused, "Is that right? Anyway, Jade how nice of you to join us."
I saw her moving closer and I started to moved backwards, away from her, "Lizzie, I know what you are thinking and I need to remind you about me and the water."
"But Jade, I have a tremendous fear of water yet my cousin pulled me in, regardless."
"Oh my god, Liza, I am so sorry, I forgot." Santana said. Beth waved her off. She continued walking towards me and I continued to move backwards.
I look behind me and see my mother sat at the table not that far from me. I make the wise and selfish decision. I push Cat into the pool and run to jump and sit in my mom's lap.
"Jesus, Jade, you are not five anymore, I can't support your weight like that anymore." Mom said, wincing as she readjusted her position and wrapped her arms around my waist.
"Oh but you're more than happy to support Bridget's weight." Beth said, wiggling her eyebrows, sitting in the chair next to me and mom.
"Strike one, Beth, get another two and Jade can't stay at yours for two weeks." Mom said, pulling me closer to her.
"Shutting up." She motioned a lock and key on her lips and just sat there, arms crossed against her chest and watching everybody.
"I wish I had that power." Sophia said. "Sometimes the girl just wont shut up."
"Sophia, I give you permission to use Jade anytime you need Beth to be quiet." Mom said, grabbing her glass of wine and sipping it.
"That's not fair." Me and Lizzie yelled at the same time.
"Why am I being used as a pawn in your games?" I asked, sulking, falling heavily against my mom.
"It's because you are so young and still under my care, baby." Mom said, placing a kiss on my head. I scowl and pout more. "Also, is Kitty Cat staying another night, tonight?"
I nod, looking at the red head playing chicken on Andre's shoulders against Tori and Beck, "I believe so, she did say her parents were gone for around two weeks with her brother at a facility."
Mom just hummed, worried for my friend. "It's already been two weeks."
Me, mom and Beth spent the rest of the afternoon watching everyone but always keeping the red head in our line of sight.
As it grew darker, Sophia and Maribel had sorted out a big Spanish feast that everyone fell in love with and we all lounged around with full stomachs, satisfying our hunger and good conversation.
It had grown quiet, everyone looking up, star gazing. When a voice started singing. (play the video)
Maribel
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing
Ooh ooh ooh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Sophia
And the days go by
Like a strand in the wind
In the web that is my own
I begin again
Said to my friend, baby
Nothin' else mattered
Claire
He was no more than a baby then
Well he seemed broken hearted
Something within him
But the moment that I first laid
Eyes on him all alone
On the edge of seventeen
The song continued with the older woman singing and the rest of us younger generation watching and smiling. I loved hearing my mom sing, it reminded me of my childhood, before the divorce.
Claire, Sophia, Maribel
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing
Oh baby oh said oh
Beth
Well I hear you in the morning
And I hear you
At nightfall
Sometime to be near you
Is to be unable to hear you
My love
I'm a few years older than you
Lizzie poked my side when she started singing, making me listen to her while she sang that last line. I look her in the eyes and shake my head in amusement.
All four
Just like the white winged dove
Sings a song
Sounds like she's singing
Oh baby oh said oh
A lot of thing had happened in one year. Arguments, marriage proposals, new couples, old couples, new friendships and old friendships, but I knew that nothing would change for me. I would turning eighteen in a couple of months and I really was on the edge of seventeen, but it has been one hell of a year.
I wouldn't change it for the world.
There we go my darlings, I hope you have enjoyed the show.
Thank you all again!
Until next time!
