"Aang," Katara whispered as she looked at him sadly. He swallowed hard, eyes remained fixed on Azula. With a scowl, he could only manage a "What did you say?" The firebender matched his scowl, "Just what I said. I have information about what happened to your parents and what it means for you. I'll tell you but you have to fall back." Aang relaxed his defense stance and nodded to Katara to do the same. "Aang, you can't be serious!", Katara yelled. Azula pleaded to Katara, "Not like it matters to you, but I only came here to tell Aang.I know we're not friends, but what I found out could mean bad things for everyone." Aang was conflicted. He knew Katara was right to not trust Azula, but for the first time, he thought he saw authenticity from Azula. She didn't look like she was trying to pretend and she seemed even a little scared.

"Yeah, right, Azula. You were all over Aang as soon as you met and then you were horrible to him. No one trusts you!" Katara was seething. "You're right, I did find him attractive, but panic attacks are so out, these days," Azula said with a smirk. Aang regretted thinking she seemed scared, but something about her voice was sincere. He felt like his duty at this moment was preventing the two girls from killing each other. "Okay, enough!," his voice rang out with a deep timbre. The girls relaxed their stances in shock at Aang's commanding voice. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his anxiety at bay. "Okay, this is what we're gonna do," he bended handcuffs out of earth and shackled Azula's wrists tightly, "You're gonna tell us everything you know."

The party came to a screeching halt as Aang, Katara, and a handcuffed Azula entered the home. Zuko's face became hot with rage at his little sister, "What did you do now?!" Katara answered, "Zuko, normally I would ask the same thing, but she has something we should all hear." Zuko became quiet, anger continuing to simmer through his veins. Mai interlaced her fingers with Zuko's facial expression unchanged. "I've never seen her like this, Zuko. You should give her a chance, " she whispered in his ear. He sighed and nodded in agreement. Toph, Sokka, and Suki looked at Katara and Aang for any sign of suspicion. Haru and Ty Lee looked out into the living room and decided to stay out of it, as they were both stupidly baked and couldn't imagine getting serious right now. Aang and Katara nodded as if to reassure everyone this was legit.

Aang looked at Azula, "Okay, tell them what you told us." "Finally! So, I overheard my father talking to Admiral Zhao, the guy that comes to school every semester trying to recruit kids into the United Forces. They were talking about how they tried to kill Aang but for some reason he wasn't in the car, so only his parents died. I didn't know what to think about this so I went digging into his computer. His hubris is evident by how easy it was to figure out his password. I found emails from more than 15 years ago to Zhao which described tracking the Air Nomads for any signs of the Avatar. Their whole plan was to kill the Avatar so they could invade the Four Nations and kill all non-firebenders," she took a deep breath, "It seems like he's still planning to go through with it."

Everyone could've heard a pin drop. Suki squeezed Sokka's hand, trying not to cry. Sokka stood with a stern face because he still didn't buy it. "If this is all true, why do you care? You're Daddy's good little firebender, you should be loving it." Azula frowned, "Whatever you think about me, I don't want genocide. My two best friends are non-firebenders. I know I can be a bitch," she squinted at the murmurs of agreement amongst the group, "but I'm not evil." "That's debatable," Sokka scoffed. "Well, what are we gonna do about it? This asshole is going down!", Toph yelled.

"Toph, while I admire your enthusiasm, I think we should ask Aang what he thinks," Suki suggested. The group nodded and turned to look at Aang. The sea of sad looks made me feel like he was going to cry. But now wasn't the time, he would deal with the fact that he definitely got his parents killed later. He cleared his throat, "Well, I think we should take it seriously. I'm the Avatar and this is stuff I should be handling anyway. I can't ask any of you to risk your lives for this." "No way, Twinkle Toes. Count me in," Toph stated. Zuko, Mai, Suki, Sokka, and Katara all voiced their support for joining Aang. Azula was nonchalant but agreed to help only to stop the end of the world. He let this joyful moment of support be felt for a brief moment before regaining his serious manner. "Thanks, I appreciate it. I don't even know where to begin, anyone have any ideas?" Sokka answered, "Well, I know our Dad works with Zhao at the United Forces base. We could follow my Dad to get close to Zhao and plant a surveillance device on him. We could also print those emails for evidence. When we do that, we should have more than enough to take legal action." Aang smiled, "Sokka, that's brilliant! I have to tell you, I'm really impressed with your ideas."

With Sokka and Aang's help, the group delineated the tasks outlined in Sokka's plan. Katara and Sokka will follow Dad to the United Forces base. Toph will talk to her neighbor, Teo, who's dad makes security equipment for the United Forces. Aang will use his stealth ability to plant surveillance devices in Zhao's car and around his home. Zuko and Mai will begin to talk to Fire Nation kids to see if any more information could be gleaned. Suki will research close friends of Ozai to see if they could blackmail anyone for information. Azula will continue to follow Ozai and their Mom, reporting any information back to the group. Everyone decided to meet at the Jasmine Dragon cafe after school tomorrow. The cafe is owned by Zuko and Azula's uncle, who has a basement they could use to keep the meeting safe from unsuspecting eyes. "Well, I have reached my "helping people" quota for the day so you can release me," Azula hissed. Toph grinned at bending the earth handcuffs up, hitting Azula in the face. "Toph!", Aang yelled. "Okay, geez, you know we all wanted to," she conceded before stomping as the handcuffs opened. Azula rubbed her wrist and slinked out of the house without a word, much to everyone's delight. "Your sister is so weird, dude," Sokka told Zuko.

A semblance of normalcy returned to the party but Aang and Katara stood together in silence. Katara didn't really know what to say. She guessed that asking him if he's okay, when he definitely seemed like he wasn't, was not an option. All she knew was that she wanted him to process what just happened in peace. "Hey, let's get out of here. What do you say?", she asked. Aang stared at her with an eerie amount of restraint in his face. It took everything inside of him to not lose it in front of everyone. "Sure," he replied with a weak smile. She grabbed his wrist and led him up the second floor of the house. He gasped when he realized they were going into her room. He had only been on this floor to game with Sokka in his room, but never hers. He signed happily as he was pulled into her room.

Downstairs, a Water Tribe boy with a wolf tail was starting to become suspicious. Sokka walked over to Suki, who was getting beer from the keg. "Hey, did you see Aang and Katara go upstairs? Am I going crazy?" Suki laughed with a smile, "You're not going crazy, I saw it, too. I'm sure it's all innocent, did you see Aang's face? He looked like he was going to cry." Sokka had not considered this until he thought back on the last few minutes. He did remember Aang looking very upset and Katara frowning. He told himself that even though Aang was a teenage boy, he was very different from most people he knew. He put an unusual amount of trust in him for someone he has only known for a few weeks. "I see what you're saying, but even if he's sad, he's still a guy, Suki! That part of your brain doesn't turn off when you're sad." Suki took a sip from her cup, "That's true, but also, you really don't know, do you? You'll just have to trust them. Let's go play beer bong, that should take your mind off things." Sokka finally cracked a smile, "Oh, you're going down!"

Aang's eyes lit up as he walked into Katara's room. There were soft blues and whites strewn about her bedroom. The bed looked so comfy he just had to plop down face first. Katara giggled as she turned her head to face him, "Wow, so I take it you like my room?" Aang mumbled "mmmhmmm, it's like one big cloud" into her pillow. The couple turned on their backs, looking up at the ceiling. Trying hard to ignore Aang's body a mere inch away from her, she stated, "I'm glad. I just thought you could use some time away from everything." After a few moments, Aang turned his head towards Katara, "You were right. I feel like I'm bursting yet numb at the same time. I want to cry but there's also nothing inside. I don't know if that makes any sense." Katara furrowed her brow, "I think I understand. After my mom died, I would go from being an emotional wreck to feeling numb shortly after. Most of the time I just was going about my day like everything was normal when it wasn't. During those months after she was gone, I felt like I was on a beach. Most of the time I was fine, but once in a while a big wave would wash over me. I was sure I was about to drown but then the wave receded back into the ocean. Over time, those waves became smaller and smaller. The outbursts of emotion became less, but that's because I let myself feel. Accept the waves."

Aang felt like a dam ruptured inside of him. His loud sobs became muffled into Katara's pillow. His thoughts vacillated between "it's all your fault" and "no, I didn't cause this". Katara rubbed his back while he wailed. After a few minutes, Aang's crying slowed to reflexive hiccuping. "If it wasn't for me, my parents would still be alive," he quietly spoke through hiccups. Katara laid her face down and looked him in the eye, "Aang, this isn't your fault. If you were in that car, you would have died, too. There's a threat out there and you're able to stop it because you're sill alive. Maybe there's an upside to all this." Aang's sobs were reduced to quiet sniffles. His stormy, gray eyes met her warm, blue eyes. He spoke quietly, "Yeah, I did get to meet you."

He wiped his face with his sleeve, "Sorry about your pillow, Katara." She smiled with a chuckle. "Don't be sorry. How do you feel?" Aang laid his head on the pillow and turned onto his side, facing her, "Drained," he laughed, "but also lighter, somehow. Thank you for being here for me." Katara kissed his tear stained, lips softly. Aang kissed her back. Their tongues pressed and intertwined. He ran his hand through her hair and deepened the kiss. Almost as if on autopilot, he began to pepper kisses along her jaw and neck. Katara moaned at the feel of Aang's lips on her skin. While he kissed the sensitive curve in her neck, he placed his hand on her breast and began to massage it gently.

Aang instinctively began to run his hands across her stomach, lingering at the top of her pants. Katara tried not to smile at his trepidation. "He's adorable," she thought to herself. She broke the kiss and shimmied her pants off, kicking them onto the floor. This motion snapped him back to reality. "Oh, uh, I wasn't prepared for sex, uh, I don't have a condom and-" She could him off, giggling, "You thought I wanted to have sex? I'm not ready yet, but I'd like to do other things." He was confused at first but then remembered doing further research into foreplay after that terribly, awkward with Gyatso. He shuddered and tried to erase any thought of Gyatso from his mind. He grinned, "Yeah, I don't think I'm ready for sex either. But I would like to make you feel good."

Katara looked at Aang with half-lidded eyes. He kissed her roughly, pressing her tongue into her mouth. She moaned, still not used to Aang being so passionate. He placed his hand between her legs where a wet, heat made him harden. He remembered learning that this was good and he blushed. Acting on impulse, he took her underwear off and ran his fingers along her soft folds in-between her legs. He found her clit and rubbed it in a circular motion. "Faster, Aang," she breathed. He leaned in closer as his thumb quickened in speed. His two fingers entered her and she gasped. His fingers stopped, "Sorry! I shouldn't-" She interrupted him, "No, it felt good. Keep going." He nodded and continued his pace. His eyes widened as her back arched and raised her hips to press against his fingers. Her body tensed as intense pleasure came crashing over her. He felt his erection throbbing at the sight of his beautiful girlfriend loudly moaning. He kissed her lips as she rode out the orgamsm. Katra sighed, "Wow, Aang, I can't believe you were going to be a monk." He laughed, running his hand up her thigh, loving the way her skin felt against his fingers.

Without warning, Katara started to unbuckle Aang's pants. Her tongue entered his mouth and they kissed while she was successful at pulling his pants down. This frenzy made his head spin. He imagined this happening so many times in the past few weeks that he had lost count, but he was not prepared for his nervousness. Would he be what she expected? Before he had a chance to continue down that hole of uncertainty, Katara began sliding down his underwear and brought him back to reality. He felt her warm hands on his penis and could have lost it all at that moment. He tried to imagine boring, nonsexual things to last longer. Hot squats, mediating, pizza, anything he could think off while she was stroking him.

She grabbed tighter and he involuntarily gasped. "Is that okay?", she asked. "It's...good...don't...stop." She smiled and continued stroking along the length of him. Aang was doing good keeping his thoughts neutral until he felt her soft hands cupping his balls. Without having time to think, he came with a low groan in his throat. Katara got up and returned to the bed with a towel, cleaning him and her hands. She smiled at the relaxed look on his face, reveling in the notion that she caused him to feel this wonderful. They put their underwear back on and she rested her head on his chest. His arm wrapped around her, tightly holding onto her shoulders. "Katara, you are amazing." He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "I have to ask you something." She felt his body stiffen and became worried. "Sure, what's up?", she asked cooly. "Um," he blushed, "have you ever been with anyone else? Like dated or whatever?" She smirked, "Never dated anyone else. Haru kissed me in first grade, but he tasted like doritos," she laughed, "but it's been no one else until you." He became calm after hearing her say this. "I know what you mean. There's never been anyone else for me besides you."

Katara and Aang finally got dressed and walked downstairs to join the rest of the party. They tried to contain their smiles but saw a smirk on Toph and Suki's face. Katara waved and giggled as she made her way to Toph. "So, who knew Twinkle Toes had it in him?" Katara's mouth widened, "Shhhh, Toph! I'll tell you what happened but you need to bring your voice down." Toph allowed herself to be dragged into the kitchen in exchange for the expected awkwardness of Aang. She was disappointed to hear that he wasn't too bad. "He, so he was actually good? Like he knew about the clit and where it was? I don't believe he was just a monk." Katara laughed, "I know, that's what I said! Maybe he asked his past lives or something." The two friends bent over laughing at this. "And how was he, a story to write home about?" Katara glanced around to make sure no one was listening and whispered, "Yes, which makes me nervous. How exactly is that supposed to fit?" The earthbender smirked, "Katara, I'm sure if babies can come out of there, he will fit. You should go talk to Mai about it. I would say Suki but.." Katara frowned, "Yeah, no thanks. I'm going to go find Mai."

Aang felt weird trying NOT to smile, as he has not smiled very much in the last year. He shook his thoughts away and walked over to the beer pong table. Sokka and Suki were battling against Haru and Ty Lee. Aang thought about what Katara said earlier. He was unsure if Haru still liked her. While deep in thought, Zuko drunkenly patted Aang on the back. "Ah!", the airbender jumped at his friend's harshness. "Whoah, A-aang, you okay, buddy? Let's loosen uppppp," Zuko slurred. Aang became relieved, noticing he was just drunk, not an asshole. "I'm good, Zuko, you just surprised me there." Zuko smirked and leaned into Aang in a loud whisper, "I saw you disappeared with Katara. Should we celebrate?" Aang tried to control the blush overtaking his face but lost that battle. He whispered quietly, "No, no. We'll talk tomorrow." Neither of the two noticed Sokka nearby, who only heard Zuko's question and saw Aang's blush. He took a deep breath and told himself he would kill Aang after he crushed it in beer pong.

While Zuko was asking Aang to "bring out some Roku", the airbender felt himself yanked by his arm. He noticed the brown arm pulling him belonged to Sokka. "Okay, Sokka, can you tell me what's going on?" Aang froze at his friend's icy glare. The two were out front of this house, steeped in uncomfortable silence. "I trust you man, but that trust only goes so far if you're honest with me. Did you just go have sex with my sister?!" Aang was taken aback by this, but also a little relieved because they had NOT done that. They did other stuff, but Sokka didn't need to know about that. "No, Sokka! No, we are not even there yet. Trust me." Sokka's eye's narrowed, "Oh yeah, then why were you upstairs all that time?" Aang frowned and sighed, "Because...because I was crying. I was really upset and Katara helped me through it. She told me about losing your mom and she was there for me. I swear, no sex happened." Sokka finally relaxed, taking into consideration Suki's observation and advice. He needed to trust more. Katara didn't need his protection. He hated being wrong. "Okay, okay, I believe. Sorry about the beginning of the party, I can't imagine. You can talk to me about anything, you know?" Aang smiled, "Thanks, Sokka. I'm glad we're friends." Sokka smiled and put his arm around Aang, "I'm glad, too. Just don't make me an Uncle yet and we'll get along fine." Aang smiled weakly, knowing Katara would be mad if she found out they had this conversation. "Sure, Sokka. I promise. All in all, this was a great birthday." The two friends hugged underneath the full moon on the brisk, autumn night. Even in darkness, there was light.
