Chapter 4

New Life

His green eyes bore holes through the seat that he was staring at. He could feel his bones practically vibrating with anticipation. Alex clenched his hands close to his chest as he watched his mom ran into the Stilinksi home and right back out, carrying a couple of bags. She peeled out of the way and back into town. Though the drive was quick, to Alex it took forever.

They rushed through the halls of the hospital, searching for the right room. The young boy could barely see the signs and directions as he was pulled along. His mom held tight to his hand as they turned right, then left. He kept his stride and kept up with his mother, then his eyes zeroed in on Mr. Noah. He was pacing backward and forwards along the hall, waiting for Talia to appear.

"Oh thank god," he breathed a sigh of relief when he spotted the two. "Her labor stalled as soon as they got her into a room. The doctor is confused as to why she progressed so far in such a short amount of time, but they said that every woman is different."

"May I go in?" Alexander asked letting go of his mother's hand. Noah turned to look down at the boy. A small smile spread on his face as he nodded looking into the eyes of the child. He saw the look of determination within those sparkling orbs. He saw the flash of purple before the boy stepped around him and walked into the room.

He went straight to Claudia's side and sat in the chair beside the bed she lay in. She smiled at him and grabbed the hand that he held out to her. Gently, she placed the hand on her swollen stomach letting the child rub small circles into the flesh that rested there. She could feel the pull that this child had, felt the years hidden behind those innocent eyes.

"He's supposed to be yours, isn't he. This is what you saw, wasn't it? This moment? I knew you were special Alex, knew you weren't just a human or even a wolf." Claudia whispered to him catching the look of pure delight that appeared on his face.

"Momma says that it's almost impossible for our kind to find our destined ones so early in life. Says that it's practically unheard of, but here I am with my destined one about to be brought into this world of ours. I had a dream last night Mrs. Claudia. I dreamt of him growing, aging before me. It was so surreal that I woke up crying. I didn't know what to tell momma, didn't know if she would believe that it was real. He's going to be so pretty. I can't wait to see it in person."

"Does your mom tell you that you're very smart for a seven-year-old?"

Alex laughed at that. His mom had told him many times over the years that he was way too smart for his own good. He learned faster than his brother, or even his sisters. He didn't understand how quickly he advanced, how easy it was for him to comprehend such big words that were used around him. Yet, he did. He knew what they were talking about when it came to the wolves and their potential mates. He understood what that meant to his kind. Alex knew that he was different, knew that he wasn't just a wolf or a human. But he didn't know exactly what he was or what he could do.

"Once he's here can I hold him?" He asked Claudia, tears almost blurring her face from his vision.

"Of course you can, Alex." Claudia laughed.

Suddenly, pain shot down her back. She gasped at the pain, gritting her teeth as the contraction wracked its way through her system. There was no way that this baby was going to wait any longer it was coming.

"NOAH! GET THAT DAMN DOCTOR IN HERE NOW!" She screamed, gripping Alex's hand tighter in her own.

Alexander's eyes widened when he realized what was happening. He instantly became worried about the baby and his mother. She sounded so distressed and he didn't know how to help her. So, he just let her squeeze his hand as tight as she needed and he gripped it back just as hard. He felt something in his chest uncoil and he felt discomfort spread through his system. Yet, he didn't let go of Claudia's hand. He held it tighter, willing her pain away.

Noah burst through the door a few seconds later and walked up to his wife. She was so pale, but the color was slowly starting to seep back into her cheeks. He turned to the boy, about to tell him it was time for him to wait outside with his mother when he noticed the black veins in his arm. He know what that was, had seen Talia, and Peter use this specific gift of theirs whenever someone had gotten hurt.

"Talia!" He yelled eyes still plaster to the child holding tightly to his wife's hand, concentrating on keeping her comfortable.

Talia stepped into the room, coming to stand beside Noah. She flicked her gaze to where he was staring. She knew what was going on, but her brain simply couldn't process the scene. Here was her son, the one she thought was human, draining the pain from Claudia. Just hours ago he was in a trance, and now he was exhibiting signs of werewolf behavior. What the hell was going on? What was her son?

"Alright! Who's ready to have a baby?" The doctor asked as he opened the door, snapping the two out of their stupor. They turned to look at him as a few nurses piled in behind him. "So, the child needs to leave."

"No," Alex growled, not lifting his head from Claudia's face, though they could all clearly see the glare on his face. The doctor raised his brow at the kid.

"He stays!" Claudia yelled, already fed up with this. "I don't care what any of you have to say. If he doesn't want to leave then he doesn't have to. Now, please, for the love of go GET THIS KID OUT OF ME!"

Everyone flinched at the tone of her voice, but Claudia didn't have time to care. This baby was coming fast. Now she knew why her labor had stalled, the baby was waiting on this sweet angel to appear.

"Ma'am," The nurse started but Claudia cut her off

"This baby will not come without him here. I don't understand it either, but he fucking stays! NOW, GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME BEFORE HE TEARS HIS WAY OUT HIMSELF!"

The doctor caught the boy's gaze and Alex stared right back as if daring him to say anything else to him. Alex would not be leaving this room. He was staying where he was needed. If need be he would fight tooth and nail to stay where he was standing. The doctor nodded at him, giving him the go-ahead to do as he pleased. He took his position between Claudia's legs and from there it was smooth sailing.

A cry broke out in the silence of the room. Claudia fell back against the pillows a small smile plastered to her face. Alex rushed forward once the umbilical cord was severed and the baby was swaddled. He watched as the newborn was passed to its father, who cuddled him close. Noah knelt to Alex's level and let the boy gaze at the freckled face of the baby. He let out a sigh of relief when Mieczyslaw opened his Creamy chocolate eyes and stared at him. The baby cooed at hi, seeming like he was reaching towards him. Alexander smiled and rubbed at the small hand of the baby and merely shook his head. He stepped to the side and allowed Noah to unite his small family. Talia and Alex watched as Claudia accepted her son with tears in her eyes and a beautiful smile on her face.

Finally, a peace settled over the tattered group and the trouble of tomorrow was temporarily forgotten for a small moment.
