A few weeks later, Evie and Beth had just finished their last GCSE exam and were heading to the hospital for Beth to meet Ange.
"Evie what if she doesn't want to see me? She didn't even know she was pregnant with me until like two weeks before she had me" Beth was more nervous than she was letting on
"She literally emailed you back saying she will be happy to meet you, don't worry" Evie was so levelheaded even at 16, she had to grow up when Natalie died but has been able to relax since Ange and Fletch got together.
"But she probably meant at a food place or something with me and my dad not just have me turn up at her workplace…she's gonna ask questions about dad and all" Beth's dad was nearing the end of a three year prison sentence for ABH, this meant she had been in care for a short time and then moved in with her Polish grandmother who lived on Holby City's Farmead estate in a small two bedroom council flat.
"Beth just calm down it'll be fine!"
"Okay okay, just me or is it a bit cold?" she had a slight fever and chills.
"It's pretty warm actually, you okay?" Evie looked a little concerned
"Yeah probably just me, side effects of dialysis and that"
"Righttt okay, maybe get Ange to look at the hospital?" Evie was getting worried, having seen Beth get ill before due to her kidneys
"No I'll be okay don't worry" but Beth had some pain in the area of her kidneys and was starting to feel like she had yet another kidney infection. She was on the transplant list but had rare blood and tissue types so finding a match was difficult, she needed more relatives to be tested which is the true reason she contacted Ange in the first place.
'I'll be okay' were famous last words, as just a few minutes later she was being rushed onto AAU laid barely conscious and in pain on a trolley.
Ange looked over as her name was called to lead, she soon recognised who it was and felt like her heart was in her mouth. "B-Bethany?…"
