"That story? Was it true?" Natia had come to me as I was helping Maxwell and Amber with a few new Katas. "Yep. Whether you believe it or not, is completely up to you." I shrug. I really didn't care if they believed me or not. I knew it was true, the Trevelyan's knew it was true, and that was all I cared about.
"Yeah! It's true! She's a professional hero and everything!" Maxwell piped up, "Plus, we kinda have to believe her, after she picked up a dead bear with absolutely no aid at all. Though she is kinda old."
My brow twitched and bent down to pick up a rock, throwing the brat. He let out a pained yelp, jumping a little as he rubbed his back where the rock hit. "Sensei!" He whined.
"I'll show you old, you stupid brat." Maxwell let out another yelp as another pebble hit him. "Don't just stand there, dodge!"
Natia laughed, "I suppose that's one way to learn to dodge."
Later that evening, as I was looking at the pictures of my family, Natia joined me again by the fire. "Ah. I suppose pictures are considered proof. They look too smoothly done and realistic to be drawn. Who are they?"
I held up the picture of Tsuyu and our daughter, "This is my late wife and our daughter."
I held the Graduation Class Photo, "This is all the people I graduated UA with."
Then I held up the last picture, "This is my Class. The Ones I considered family. Out of all of them, only Deku -the green-haired kid- and Tokoyami are still alive. Though Deku's old and retired, he's already passed on his quirk to my daughter who was his chosen heir. I won't actually have to worry about Tokoyami -the one with a bird's head- dying on me until he has an offspring to pass Shadow onto. Unless he dies against a Villain, at least."
Natia looked interested, "Shadow?"
"Mhmm. He's a sort of, well, Shadow Yokai -the demon is the closest translation, though that's not really what he is- that bound himself to Tokoyami's ancestor before Quirks really came about." I explain.
"And it stops them from aging?"
"Sort of? He lets them age to a certain point before stopping." I shrug, I hadn't really cared all that much at the time, and never really bothered to ask. I was just glad that I wasn't alone in being long-lived.
I sighed, "I kinda miss them. Even that ass Bakugou." Though the guy did mellow out after marrying Kirishima and having a kid. A few kids, actually. (Don't assume he was just with Kirishima. He ended up with everyone in the Bakusquad. They were a Polyamorous group. It was kinda cute, actually.)
"So…" Natia drawled out, looking at me with an innocent look. I rolled my eyes, "You want my help?"
She grinned and nodded eagerly, "I talked it over with the others while you were training the kids. We all agreed you would be a good addition if what Malcolm told us was true."
I laughed a little, "Okay. To be honest, I would've asked to join you anyway. It's not who I am to sit back when I could help."
"Because you're a hero?"
"Because I'm a hero."
