Hello again, great people of Fanfiction! Yes, it has been a little while, but I am finally back with my second ever Total Drama fanfic! This one takes place a couple of months after the season of Pahkitew Island. Oh, and Shawn is the official winner in this story. Enjoy!
Total Drama: Pahkitew Island was… a pretty weird season, to say the least. It took place at a brand new island due to Camp Wawanakwa sinking in the last season's finale. The new island was completely empty, which required the new contestants to build and make shelter of their own in the wild. On top of that, it also featured some of the most eccentric personalities the show ever had up until that point. The season included a guy with a huge afro and beard who makes sound effects, a roleplayer who thinks he's a wizard, a singing princess who looked like she jumped straight out of a Disney movie, a super-villain wannabe who laughs like a maniac all the time, a paranoid zombie-phobic extremist, and an obsessive Chris McLean fanboy who planned to steal the host's job, among plenty of others.
However, that season also featured two contestants that felt more… sane and normal in comparison.
One of them was a blonde cheerleader girl named Sammy. While friendly, she was also quite timid and had low-self esteem due to living her entire life under the thumb of her cruel twin sister, Amy. As a result, Sammy has always lacked the courage to stand up to her bullying sibling and has always believed Amy's boasts of being the better sister to be true. Making matters worse was that she was also given the embarrassing nickname "Samey" that everyone was forced to call her instead of her preferred real name, in order to make her seem like the "lesser Amy".
The other person was Jasmine. A very tall girl from the Australian Outback, Jasmine has lived a survivalist lifestyle and has obtained extraordinary physical skills as a result. While her tough exterior can make her come across as intimidating to others, she is nothing but a kind and caring soul with a big heart, strong leadership skills and a loyal attitude.
Both Jasmine and Sammy were put on the same team and quickly became friends during their second day on the island while scavenging for food. Jasmine became the only person on her team to feel sympathy for the nice twin due to her hardships and served as a sisterly figure to her. She even encouraged and helped Sammy stand up to Amy. Unfortunately for her, Amy managed to successfully convince and deceive her team that Sammy was actually the mean twin by crying fake crocodile tears. On top of that, she was also able to convince her team that Sammy costed their team the loss in that day's challenge.
Despite all of this, Sammy had a plan to keep herself in the game. Pahkitew Island contained a poisonous fruit called the manchineel, also known as the "little apple of death". She was able to successfully have Amy consume one and then get her eliminated in her place by imitating her sister's mannerisms. Needless to say, Jasmine was very much on board and satisfied with this, even congratulating her in a confessional. The good twin felt relieved that she was finally able to inflict payback and karma onto her evil twin sister after years of putting up with her torment.
However, the rest of her time on the island was spent pretending to be Amy, due to only Jasmine (and Scarlett) knowing about her true identity. She still had Jasmine for support, but that was it.
All of a sudden, in the fifth challenge, Amy miraculously popped out of the water and exposed her true identity, sending both twins back home.
Ever since then, Sammy has spent the next couple of months doing anything she could to get away from Amy. She made a few new friends in school (some of which recognized her from the show) and took part in other extra-curricular activities, ensuring she would keep herself occupied. She also talked with her and Amy's parents making sure that she and Amy would be kept separate for a long while.
Things were looking much brighter for Jasmine. After her newly obtained boyfriend Shawn won the whole enchilada, they both stuck with their plans of splitting the money and still keep in touch on a daily basis. In addition to saving up for her cage fighting school and flower shop idea, Jasmine was also hoping to fly to Calgary, Canada to move in with Shawn. And in case anyone was wondering, yes, he is still planning on adding that zombie bunker at some point. Like Sammy, Jasmine has also kept herself busy with schoolwork, among other things in the meantime.
Finally, a couple of months after the season ended, Sammy had finally remembered how much she missed Jasmine. After all, she probably would have never obtained all of her newfound self-confidence without her help.
So, one day, she reached out to Jasmine privately through social media, saying, "Hi Jasmine! Sorry I waited so long to say this, but thank you so much for helping me grow as a person and gain confidence in myself! I miss you so much!"
Sammy had waited for a good long while before Jasmine saw the message. She grinned instantly upon reading it. Jasmine then reminisced about all of the wonderful memories they both had on the island and she felt touched by her kind words.
So, she finally wrote back, "Sammy! How you doing, mate? And sure thing for helping you grow! You absolutely deserved it! I've missed you too!"
The cheerleader was overjoyed after she read her reply. It had been at least a couple of months since either of them interacted with each other in some way, shape or form, so she wanted to make the best of this moment. She and Jasmine then gave each other their contact info and phone numbers.
Then, she had another idea in mind. As fun as it was to be able to message each other, she thought that talking face to face through video would be a lot more fun and exciting. So she messaged her again, asking, "Hey, you wanna have a video chat sometime? I'm pretty much free whenever!"
Jasmine also really dug this idea. She quickly responded, "Sounds like a plan! I'm free tomorrow afternoon. What time is it currently where you are?" she then asked the twin.
"It's currently 6:00 PM where I am. How about you?" Sammy wrote back.
"Where I am, it's currently noon. How about this... I can set up a Zoom meeting for 3:00 PM where I am tomorrow. From where you are, I believe it'll be 9:00 PM by then. Does that sound good?"
Sammy replied, "That sounds good to me! See you then!"
Afterwards, Sammy and Jasmine both went on normally with the rest of their day. It went without saying, but they were both excited for what was to come tomorrow.
The next evening, Sammy was mostly chilling in her room listening to music, browsing the web on her laptop and watching videos. Basically all the things a normal teenage girl would do alone in her free time. As 9:00 was approaching in her time zone, she got an email notification from Jasmine, who sent her a link to the Zoom meeting they planned for today.
She opened up the link and joined the meeting two minutes in advance. She then sat patiently, waiting for Jasmine.
A few minutes later, catching Sammy by surprise, Jasmine joined in.
Sammy was the first person to speak. She gasped with excitement upon seeing her old friend.
"Hi Jasmine!" The nice twin greeted her with glee.
"Oi! G'day, Sammy!" Jasmine greeted her back with similar delight. "How've you been?" she asked.
"A lot better, thankfully," Sammy briefly chuckled. "I talked with my parents to make sure that Amy and I are kept separate for a very long time."
"Thank goodness, that's a relief to hear," Jasmine replied. "I was worried for how much longer you'd have to put up with your witch of a sister."
"I know, right?" Sammy replied. "Oh, and I also made a few new friends in school that recognized me from the show! They all felt really bad for me," she added.
"Nice! You deserve to have more friends! The more, the merrier, right?"
"Absolutely. How've you been?" the twin returned Jasmine's question.
"I'm doing quite well. In case you were wondering, me and Shawn did indeed split the money and we still talk to each other daily. I'm still planning on saving up for my cage fighting school and flower shop idea, and I'm also now currently making plans to fly to Calgary to move in with Shawn eventually." the tall girl explained.
"Oh, cool! Calgary is not too far from where I live! And now that you mention him, how's Shawn doing?" Sammy then switched the topic.
"Well, Shawn's still very much what you'd expect. Still fascinated with zombies and all, still planning on adding that bunker," the Aussie said. "But hey, his weirdness is just one of the many things I love about him! Definitely a keeper for sure."
"Oh, totally. You guys were practically made for each other!" the cheerleader gushed, while Jasmine smiled in appreciation. "I mean, you two are probably the most kick-butt duo I've ever seen!"
Jasmine was flattered. "Thanks, Sammy! I guess it just goes to show how far years of survivalist training can get'cha."
"For sure. I think all my cheerleading experience has helped me stay active too, though I'm definitely not even close to being as strong and athletic as you," Sammy chuckled. "I mean, I remember you like punched a tree with zero effort, whatsoever!"
While the survivalist appreciated the kind twin's compliments, they also reminded her of something that just didn't sit quite right with her…
"Yeah, though I've never really liked how my tall stature and skills always intimidate people. That's pretty much why I've had trouble making friends myself for a while. Also, as you might've seen, I'm quite claustrophobic and there were times I'll admit I was definitely way too stubborn towards Shawn and even Sky at times," the Aussie admitted.
"Yeah, I get that. But don't feel bad about yourself! You've got amazing leadership skills, a big heart, a perfect boyfriend and a great future ahead of you!" Sammy assured her.
Hearing those words made Jasmine feel a lot better as she smiled and chuckled, "Thanks! That means a lot coming from you, mate!" she thanked her.
"Of course!" the twin replied.
Jasmine now felt it was her turn to return the favor back to Sammy. "I also wanted to tell you that the amount of growth you've shown since the first day I met you was unbelievable. I was so proud of you for getting back at your sister in the way that you did! It really shows how much of a spine you've grown over such a short period of time!" the tall girl complimented her.
Now, Sammy was the one feeling flattered. "Aww, thanks Jasmine! But I couldn't have even dreamed of getting there without your help!"
"Hey, that's what friends are for, right?" she asked.
"Roite!" Sammy repeated while accidentally adding on an Australian accent, making both of them laugh. Hearing her speak in her accent so often has now seemed to rub off on her slightly. "Haha, 'roite'! I love that! Now your accent is making me wanna live in Australia!" she said as the two of them continued to laugh.
Once their laughter died down, the cheerleader then heard meowing from a distance coming from Jasmine's screen. "Oh, is your cat still there?" she then asked her.
"Oh yea, Whiskers! Hold on, I'll go get her real quick... C'mere, Whiskers!" she said in a singsongy voice as she went down to her living room to look for said purple cat.
Sammy waited in silence for about a minute before Jasmine shortly arrived back in her room, carrying Whiskers in her arms. She seemed to be slightly more tame this time around...
"Aww, she's so cute!" Sammy cooed upon seeing her.
"Oh, don't be fooled by her tame appearance though. She can still get provoked just as easily."
Right after saying this, as if she just sealed her own fate, Whiskers then screeched and bit Jasmine on the shoulder, causing her to fall backwards.
"WHOA!" the survivalist yelled as she was pulled down by the bite. The good twin gasped in horror.
"Yup, still as playful as ever!" she said off-screen, still on the ground.
"Jasmine! Are you okay?" she worriedly asked her.
"Yeah, I'm totally fine," she clarified as she easily got back up. "As a matter of fact, I've grown to get quite used to it. I still love that Whiskers though!" she said happily, as the purple cat made her way back down to the living room.
Sammy giggled slightly. "Haha, nice!"
Jasmine then had another question in mind for Sammy. "Anyway, I've got something to ask you real quick..."
Sammy nodded, paying attention.
"About that dueling stick challenge... do you know how the bloody hell Amy was able to make it all the way back to the island after she got blasted?"
Sammy shrugged nervously in response. That moment didn't bring back very pleasant memories for her, to say the least.
"I dunno..." she timidly uttered. "Extreme determination, I guess?"
"I guess," the Aussie shrugged in return. "Oh, and for the record, I wanted to tell the rest of our team how your sister faked everyone out and you were actually the good one, but I felt that it probably would've been no use. Pretty much everyone on our team was either a jerk, a narcissist or just a straight up idiot. Or in Amy's case, all three at once!" Jasmine explained.
Sammy slightly chuckled at the insult she gave to the mean twin.
"And, well, there was also Scarlett, but we don't talk about her," Jasmine uttered rapidly before immediately changing the subject in order to avoid any more horrifying flashbacks. "But yeah, you were totally robbed. Amy on the other hand completely deserved every ounce of karma she got."
"Definitely. Thank God that issue has now been settled," Sammy said with relief. "Anyway, speaking of people who got robbed, Sugar had the biggest stroke of luck I've ever seen in that race you got eliminated in. You so should have won that!" Sammy told her.
"Ugh, yea. That was quite ridiculous. Good thing I was chosen to come back for the finale though," Jasmine noted.
"OMG, the finale was so intense. It was quite tough to watch, especially towards the end. I felt so bad for all of you guys after Chris played those clips!" Sammy expressed some sympathy.
"AUGH! I'll never forgive that wanker for getting away with that! Karma's gonna bite him hard in the arse one of these days… or at least it better..." Jasmine vented. "Also, even though I was mad at Shawn at that point, I still didn't want to hurt him too badly. Dave with Sky on the other hand though… yeesh... spiteful much?"
"Oh yeah, that was pretty rough. Though, not gonna lie, I kind of felt bad for him too after Chris played Sky's audition tape. Plus, didn't he get left behind on the island with the bear as you guys left?" Sammy questioned with concern.
"He wasn't stranded for long. He made it back up to safety about five minutes after we realized we forgot about him," Jasmine clarified.
"Okay, good," Sammy said in relief, thankful that his life wasn't put in serious danger. "Yea, I've also seen a lot of fans bash him pretty hard after that finale finished airing. You know how he's holding up now by any chance?" Sammy curiously asked.
Jasmine then recalled what she remembered about the situation. "Hmm… well, from what Shawn told me, Ella actually first checked in on Dave and she then helped him recover from a particularly stressful period he was having. Then, she told Shawn about how Dave was hoping to rekindle things between them. After they both talked things out briefly, they were able to patch things up and they seem to be on better terms now, so… good for him, I guess." (1)
"Yeah, that sounds nice. That must've been pretty harsh for him. Also, now that you mention her, Ella seemed like such a total sweetheart. I wish she could have been on our team." Sammy told her.
"Oh yeah, that sheila did seem pretty innocent and chipper, didn't she?"
"Totally. To be honest, aside from Sugar, nearly every other member on Team Maskwak seemed so much nicer than most of our team. I so wish we could have been teamed up with them," Sammy said.
"Yeah, that could have easily changed things for the better. You probably would have had a more likely chance of staying in the game, honestly," Jasmine added.
"Oh well, it is what it is. All I can say is that at least I'm still very much relieved that I won't have to put up with Amy for much longer."
"Agreed. Actually, I just remembered something funny. Remember the night when you both got eliminated, didn't she say she was a 'parfait' or something? I couldn't help but chuckle at that," Jasmine gave a slight snort laugh after saying that.
"Oh yeah," Sammy chuckled back. "She said that "she was a "parfait", which she thought was German for perfect." I actually had to look that up, and then I found out after double-checking that 'parfait' is indeed French, and not German."
"Yeah, that's what I thought," Jasmine snickered. "Also, I find it kinda unintentionally hilarious she has the nerve to call herself the "pretty" one with that mole on her cheek," she added on. "Oh Amy... you've got a lot to learn, missy..." she said while shaking her head.
"You tell her, Jaz!" the nice twin added, as they both laughed afterwards.
The two then continued to talk to each other for the next half hour about a bunch of other things such as their current lives, their past lives, and some of their other personal interests, among many other things. They both had a lot of fun with finally being able to bond with one another again. This opportunity felt like a very huge breath of fresh air for the both of them.
After that half hour, Jasmine then had a plan she wanted to let Sammy in on...
"Hey Sammy, remember when I said I was planning to move in with Shawn soon?" the survivalist asked her.
"Yeah, what about it?" Sammy curiously replied.
"Me and my family just recently moved closer to Sydney, and I still have quite a bit of time left before I plan to head up to Canada. I was wondering, a week before the day of my flight... would you like to come down and visit me?"
Sammy gave a long gasp of excitement. She was so ecstatic, she was nearly crying tears of joy. "OMG, I'd love to! That'd be awesome!"
Jasmine was now hyped too. "Excellent! We can explore the city, see the opera house, and do a bunch of other fun things together for several days, and after that, I can also take you back up to Alberta so we can see Shawn together!"
Now at this point, Sammy was actually crying tears of joy. "Oh my gosh, you're not actually being serious... I must be dreaming... THAT'LL BE SO AWESOME! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'M SO EXCITED!"
Jasmine chuckled at seeing the immense level of happiness and exhilaration on Sammy's face. "Me too! And not a problem, Sammy! Was the least I could do after we only barely got a chance to spend quality time together!" Jasmine told her.
"I'm so going to ask my parents for their permission right after we get off this meeting! I bet they'll say yes since they've already let me get away from Amy for a while, but then when I'll be able to fly down to Australia, I'll be a million miles away from Amy!"
"So, whataya say? You up to it?" Jasmine asked.
"Uh, hmm... lemme think for a sec... OF COURSE I'M UP TO IT!"
Jasmine laughed with immense joy. "Alright! Well, today has been lots of fun! Thanks for coming up with this idea!"
"Thank you for inviting me to come visit you! OMG, I'm still crying, but that's just because I'm so happy right now!"
"Well, I'm very glad to hear! Anyway, hope to see ya real soon! Bye, Sammy!" Jasmine waved goodbye.
"Bye, Jasmine! Thanks again!" Sammy waved back as they both exited the meeting.
This was likely one of the happiest moments Sammy has ever had in her entire life. She was excited beyond belief about being able to visit her old friend again. Things were looking much brighter for the kind twin than ever before as she immediately went downstairs to tell her mom and dad about her time spent talking to Jasmine.
She basically told them all the important things they needed to know. Sammy missed Jasmine, they had a video chat together, and now has the opportunity to expand on their friendship reunion by flying down to Australia to reunite with her in person. Initially, her parents looked surprised about all of what she had told them, but they also felt a wave of happiness for her. They were glad that Sammy was now given the opportunity to hang out even more with the person that basically helped her grow and gain self-esteem and confidence in herself. Unsurprisingly, they seemed quite okay with letting her experience this once-in-a-lifetime moment. Upon gaining their seal of approval, Sammy started to cry tears of joy once again as she jumped up and down and gave both of her parents a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. She felt like she was in Heaven. She spent the rest of the night celebrating about her new plans.
Looks like Sammy's future just might end up taking a much bigger turn for the better after all.
End Note: Ah, Jasmine and Sammy. One of my favorite friendships in the entire franchise, and also one that I felt got abandoned way too early and should have just been handled better overall in my opinion. This story was never really meant to be anything all that deep, but rather just a fun little experiment I wanted to try with these two and how they would be able to pick up from where they left off with their friendship. As you could probably tell, it wasn't exactly very easy to be super descriptive when two people are literally just talking through their computers for the most part. Hopefully, I was able to include enough content here to satisfy for the most part!
On another note (before people bring it up in the reviews), yes, I bet some of you would have loved to see how Jasmine and Sammy's Australian adventure would have turned out, in addition to reuniting in person with Shawn. That was never exactly a plan I initially had in mind at first with this fic, at least as of right now. But if I'm ever in the mood to make a second chapter for this story (or if any superb ideas strike me), I might end up doing one. So as for right now, this fic is currently a one-shot, but again, I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of me adding a second chapter if I have enough inspiration to do so.
(1) If you by any chance didn't catch it, this line from Jasmine was a reference to my first Fanfiction story, With A Little Help From The Princess. To make a long story short, Ella reaches out to check in on Dave and hears how he has been feeling down about how Pahktiew Island ended with him. As a result, she volunteers to help him recover from his depressed state. Here, Jasmine talks about how things turned out after Ella notified Shawn about Dave's remorseful feelings. This reference was also another reason as to why I wanted to have this fic take place a couple of months after the competition.
Anyway, thank you very much for reading! Reviews are always welcome. Have a good rest of your day (or night)!
