One Year Later

The move to California was so easy for me. Mr. Brown had everything set up for me when I got here. All I had to worry about was putting the things I brought with me away. My first day at work was amazing. Everything just went so smoothly. I did wind up e-mailing Mr. Shields to let him know about my move and respectfully declined any help from him. I knew I could do this on my own.

Today was my first day back after maternity leave. I wound up having a baby girl and I named her Rini. The delivery went normal and Rini was born healthy. She was about four months old. With my new salary I was able to hire a nanny, which was a long process, but she came highly recommended. Mina was the nanny's name. She was half American and half Japanese. I loved that because she had lived in both counties and could help me teach Rini about Japan and about her new home in America. Mina lives with us in our three-bedroom house that we got right outside LA. It was an awesome set up. And Mina was absolutely wonderful with Rini.

I parked my car in the parking garage in my designated spot. I got out of my car and went up to my office. As I walked towards my office people where stopping me asking me how Rini and I were doing and that they were glad to have me back. I showed them all the pictures I have of Rini on my phone. After a while I finally made it to my office and sat down in the chair. Even though I was just an assistant I did run the office while Mr. Brown was away which was quite often. We had daily e-mails, phone calls, and zoom meetings if they where needed.

During this last year I have had no contact with Darien and his father. There was no point. Darien made it noticeably clear on how he felt about having a baby. At lunch I met up with a friend I made when I first moved here. Lita was always there for me this last year. She even drove me to the hospital when I went into labor.

Lita was already there waiting at the restaurant for me.

"Hey, Lita!" I said as I sat down.

"Rena, how's the first day back going?" She asked.

"Great so far. I just got off the phone with Mina and Rini is going down for a nap right now."

"That's great."

We chatted for a little bit and ordered our food.

"So, I have someone I would like you to meet. She's been a friend of mine since college and she just moved back to LA and I think you two would hit it off." Lita said.

"Ok, when were you thinking?"

"Well, are you working this weekend?"

"As of right now, no."

"Well, then how about we have dinner at my house?"

"That sounds great. Mina usually has the weekends off since I'm back at work so can I invite her as a friend?"

"Yea, the more the marrier I always say."

We finished our meal and I headed back to the office. The rest of the day was uneventful and then I went home to Rini.

The Saturday Night

Mina was excited about tonight. She said yes so fast it was awesome. I made sure she knew that she did not have to take care of Rini at all. That would be my job. We finished getting ready. Then after that I got Rini dressed and we were out the door. Lita lived three houses down from us, but she was in an apartment complex on the second floor. It was nice out, so we decided to walk. And what was the point of driving anyways.

When we arrived, we knocked on the door and Lita answered.

"Perfect timing. Dinner is done and Ray is in the living room."

We walked in and I set Rini down in the pack n' pay Lita had set up for whenever we came to visit. I turned around and saw a woman with long raven hair and beautiful violet eyes. She was beautiful. Wait, what did I just say to myself? Did I really say another woman was beautiful?

"Hi, I'm Ray. You must be Rena and Mina? And this little cutie must be Rini." Ray said bending down to Where Rini was. When she was bending over to look at Rini I caught myself checking out her ass. What the heck is wrong with me?

After that we all sat down and ate a wonderful dinner that Lita had put together.

"This is great as usual, Lita!" I said after a few bites.

"Lita has always been great in the kitchen. Even in college when all we had was a hot plate." Ray said giggling.

"Well, I'm just glad that you all enjoy it." Lita replied.

We finished out meal and I took Rini in the back to change her diaper and Lita came to door.

"Rena, are you ok?" She asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"You just been acting a little different since you and Mina walked in. Did something happen?"

"No, it's just... well, I'm not sure what it is. Ever since I laid eyes on Ray… it feels like I have butterflies in my stomach. And I felt that way when I first met Rini's father." I sat down on the bed next to Rini. "I've just never felt like this for a woman before. I'm not sure what to do."

"There might be a possibility that you like both men and women, and that's ok. It's been, what? About a year since Rini's father? It's ok to move on. And Ray, she's a really great woman. She likes both, just so you know, and she could hardly keep her eyes off of you too." Lita said after sitting down next to me.

"Really?" I was shocked that I didn't notice.

"Yea and was checking you out when you weren't looking. You should so let me set you two up. Come on, let me do it."

"Alright. I suppose Mina wouldn't mind one night keeping an eye on Rini." I laughed.

"Yes! I am so a match maker!" Lita hopped up throwing her fits up in the air.

Now I'm not sure what to expect but I'm willing to see where it goes.
