Monday Morning
I just pulled into a parking place in the parking lot at work and Ray was standing next to her car waiting for me. I grabbed my bags and got out of my car. I walked over to her and she had a huge smile on her face.
"Well, good morning, beautiful." Ray said kissing my cheek.
"Good morning to you, too." I giggled.
"Are you free for lunch today?"
"Well, I'm supposed to have lunch with my boss today but I'm sure she wouldn't mind." I said as we walked in together.
I showed Ray the office that she would be using while she was here and I showed her where mine was in case she ever needed anything. The day went on as usual. I treated her as if she was Mr. Brown with a few exceptions. We decided that we would meet in my office and eat our lunch there.
"So, what do you think so far?" I asked Ray while we ate.
"You really do have things running amazingly here. Like a well-oiled machine."
"I only do what I'm asked to do by Mr. Brown."
'No, you do so much more. I know that Mr. Brown sees that because he wouldn't have put you in charge so he could stay in Japan more."
"There was other reasons why I left."
"Yea, that still makes me angry when I think about that. I really want to give both of them a piece of my mind for that."
"It's ok, really. I get to have Rini and my friends that I got to meet. And I got to meet you. I really like you."
"I really like you too, Rena." Ray said as she placed her lips on mine not realizing that the window into my office was open.
We finished eating and she went back to her office. I started to write an e-mail to Mr. Brown on how the day was going when one of the assistants knocked on my door.
"Hey Rena?" The male assistant asked.
"Yes, Phil, what's up?" I replied looking up from my computer.
"Wasn't that Ray Shields I saw you with a few minutes ago, kissing in here?"
"Does it matter?" I was taken back a little by the question.
"Well, I know that we are work buddies and not outside of work but I thought you were straight because…"
'Because of Rini?"
"Yea. I'm sorry."
"Ray is my girlfriend. It's new and no I didn't know exactly who she was when we started to date."
"I think it's great that you found someone. You work so hard. You just might want to be careful because a lot of people saw that and might try to make it into something more and worse."
"Thanks. I really appreciate that and I will keep that in mind. And Phil?"
"Yes?"
"Thanks for coming to me and asking me about it instead of gossiping with everyone else."
"No problem. You have always been easy to talk to."
Phil then left and I got back to my e-mail. I was starting to wonder if I should mention the relation between Ray and I. Maybe I should just wait a little while jut to see how it goes.
