Randa1 : Sorry, I upload when I can. I will try but no promises. Though I am very flattered that you chose reading my story immediately instead of...you know...waiting until after you're done cooking.
TM11 : Hmm maybe, thanks.
Takeshiozo : Thanks, I am glad you like it.
podlizurko : I am still reading that actually, I have only gotten to chapter 15.
DZ2: I don't have a specific person in mind, honestly when I think of Emma Frost I think of the one from the 'Wolverine and the X-men' tv show, I just imagine her smaller and not like a cartoon.
Chapter 4 -
"Wait a sec. What and why is my fault?" Harry asked as the train began moving.
"The fact that I am here." Emma said as if it was an obvious answer and that she was disappointed in him for not immediately getting it.
"How does that work?" A confused Harry asked in a questioning tone.
"Simple, if you had simply done the logical thing and go to the American Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry instead of going to one in another continent then I would not have to be here." Emma replied. "I had to transfer here because you decided to come here, and to be honest I am not really sure why you did, Hogwarts is nowhere near on the same level as Ilvermorny."
"I did not really have a choice, long story short I am in a magical contract thanks to my parents so I have to attend here."
"Oh?" Emma asked in a surprised voice as she raised a delicate eyebrow. "And what about you?" She asked Wanda who was still glaring at her.
"I am here because Harry is here." Wanda said, her arms around Harry's arm.
"My, my, possessive aren't we?" Emma said with a small smile.
"Can you please not try and piss her off?" Harry asked as he placed a calming hand on Wanda's. "I would rather get to Hogwarts on a functioning train instead of a damaged one."
"Spoilsport." Emma said with a small pout. "But if that is what you want then I can control myself for now, can you do the same Wanda?" Emma asked Wanda in a condescending voice.
"I will be fine." Wanda said through gritted teeth.
"I suppose we will see won't we," Emma replied before turning to Harry. "by the way I had went to Olivander's to get my wand, did you two go there as well?"
"Yeah, the old guy is creepy." Harry frowned.
"Indeed," Emma agreed. "it took me about thirty or so minutes to get a wand from him. What about you two?" She asked.
"Well Wanda took about half an hour as well, I took about an hour and even then Logan told him to hurry up." Harry answered. "Logan told him to hurry up unless he wanted us to go somewhere else."
"Hmm, what wands did you both get?" Emma asked.
"My wand is eleven inches, holly wood and a phoenix core." Wanda said in a barely polite tone.
"Fourteen inches, yew wand with a thunderbird tail and horned serpent horn for the core." Harry said. "What about you?"
"Mine is a willow wand, eleven inches with a unicorn hair." Emma said proudly.
"Phoenix's are better." Wanda said under her breath, Harry and Emma both hear her but decided not to comment.
"Anyway," Harry said, "I think that.." the girls would not get to know what Harry was thinking because at that very moment the compartment door opened, revealing a red headed boy with freckles. Harry was sure that he had seen him with the screaming woman from before.
"Do you mind? Everywhere else is fool?" The boy asked.
"Actually," Emma said before Harry or Wanda could reply. "I regret to inform you that we do not have room here."
"But there is only three of you!" The boy protested.
"Somebody else is coming," Emma replied smoothly. "I do apologise, but are you sure that the other compartments are full? I was outside mere moments ago and I saw that there were plenty of available spaces, perhaps you should go and check again." Emma suggested.
The boy looked towards Harry and Wanda, hoping for one of them to overrule her. Harry did not say anything and instead discreetly tapped Wanda with his finger to signal her to stay quiet, judging by how she did not say anything Harry gladly noted that she understood the signal, either that or she didn't really care about the boy. The now red faced boy glared at Emma for a second before he closed the door and walked off.
"Alright spill," Harry said as he turned to Emma. "you read his mind didn't you?" Harry asked. Emma, much like Harry and Wanda, was a mutant. She possessed two mutant, the first would be the ability to change into an organic diamond state with enhanced strength and durability which sadly has the unfortunate side effect of supressing her other power. Emma was also a telepath, not just a regular telepath either, according to Charles Xavier himself, she was one of the most skilled and gifted telepaths of all time, even despite her young age.
"What makes you think that?" Emma asked in an airily voice. "Perhaps I simply did have somebody else who was going to come here."
"Emma, I know when you are not telling the truth. What did you see in his mind?"
"Fine," Emma sighed. "he wanted to come in this compartment specifically because you are here."
"Me?" Harry asked.
"You are 'the boy-who-lived'," Emma shrugged. "if you had made friends with him then that would have made him special and could benefit him in the future, also from what I understand the headmaster had told him to befriend you."
"Why would the headmaster want him to befriend Harry?" Wanda asked, knowing that she was probably not going to like the sound of the answer.
"I cannot say for sure."
"Well then make an educated guess." Wanda said, rolling her eyes.
"From what I saw in the boy's mind I have learned that he and his family are big supporters of the headmaster, so if I had to guess then maybe the headmaster wanted him to be one of your friends so he could report to him about what you do. However like I said this is just a guess as the boy himself only has limited information."
"Better than nothing." Harry replied.
"Harry." Emma said.
"Yeah?"
"I am curious, how did you know I was lying?" She asked. "Are your senses that strong that you could hear my heart beat or something like that?"
"Oh I didn't." Harry admitted, causing Emma to blink and wonder is she heard right.
"You didn't? But you..."
"I guessed you were lying and I just acted like I knew you were. I was bluffing." Harry shrugged, Emma gaped at Harry for several moments while Wanda giggled.
"You..." Emma paused and her mouth eventually shifted into a smile. "...well played Potter. Well played."
The trio had eventually fallen into a state where they were freely talking with each other, Harry was just glad that Wanda and Emma were being civil with each other. It would have been a very awkward trip for him if the two continued to argue throughout the whole train ride. A short while later though they were interrupted again, this time by three boys. Two who looked like child versions of bodyguards while the other was a blonde boy that Harry and Wanda recognised.
"They are saying that Harry Potter is here on this train, in this compartment, is that..." The boy paused when his eyes locked on Harry. "You!" He blurted out.
"Emma," Harry said to Emma as he gestured to Draco. "meet the only boy who puts more effort into his hair than you."
"I do not 'put effort' into my hair Potter," Emma sniffed. "I am just naturally this good looking."
"You're Harry Potter?!" Draco said as he pointed to Harry.
"Yes, yes, try and keep up." Harry responded. "Now what do you want?" The trio watched as Draco shook himself out of his shock before he straightened his back and puffed his chest out before beginning what seemed like a planned speech.
"You know who I am, I am Malfoy, Draco Malfoy. These two are Crabbe and Goyle. You will soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, you do not want to go making friends with the wrong sort," Draco's eyes landed on Wanda, making it clear he thought that she was the wrong sort. "who are you?" He asked when he looked at Emma.
"I hardly see how it is any of your business but I am Emma Frost." Emma said in a haughty voice.
"Frost?" Draco frowned. "I have not heard of any families called Frost, are you a pureblood?"
"I am though I do not see how that matter's."
"Of course it does," Draco scoffed before turning back to Potter. "like I said Potter, you don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort, I can help you there." Malfoy said as he extended a hand. Harry did not respond, his emerald green eyes locked onto Draco's grey ones. A few moments passed, Draco was shifting uncomfortable under Harry's gaze, though he did not have to endure it for much longer as Harry stood up and stepped forward so he was right in front of Draco.
"The wrong sort," Harry said in a soft voice. "you mean like her?" Harry gestured with his head to Wanda.
"Yes I do, you should not be spending time with the likes of her Potter, she..." Draco found himself cut off by Harry grabbing him by the throat, Harry lifted Draco up into the air with one hand. "What...are...you doing?" Draco managed to gasp out, while he was wondering why Crabbe and Goyle were not helping him.
"You talk to much," Harry said in an irritated voice. "now listen up grease joint, do not talk about my friend like that again."
"You...can't..."
"I can." Harry said in a calm voice. "Now you had better get to walking before I light that hair of yours on fire."
Harry dropped Malfoy who stumbled back and nearly fell on his butt but barely managed to stay on his feet. Malfoy looked for support only to see Crabbe and Goyle unconscious on the floor, his eyes widened and he looked at Harry who smirked at him. Malfoy pulled his wand out only to get punched in the face, Malfoy fell on the floor, he looked up to Harry who kneeled down in front of him.
"So Malfoy," Harry smiled at him, revealing some sharp, snow-white, fang-like canine teeth, "that was strike two, you want to go for three?" Harry said as he gave Malfoy an unnerving smile that caused Malfoy to roll away and get on to his feet, he quickly ran away. Harry smirked before turning back to the girls. "Nice job on dumb and dumber." Harry said to Wanda.
"Oh it was my pleasure." She smiled back.
"I have no doubt that it was," Emma said as she stood up. "Harry would you please wake these two up?"
"If I must." Harry said before he kicked Crabbe and Goyle, the two slowly stirred awake. Emma placed a hand on her forehead before sending two mental instructions into Crabbe and Goyle's heads along with some slight memory alteration. Once she was done the two stood up and walked off in the direction of Malfoy.
"Those two were not smart," Emma said, shaking her head as she and Harry took their seats. "their minds were way too easy, ridiculously easy."
"Hmm," Harry said as he closed the door. "so the insides match the outside?"
"Pretty much." Emma nodded.
The rest of the trip was pretty undisturbed until near the end, the trio had began comparing their wands (minds out of the gutter), when the door was opened to reveal a girl with brown bushy hair.
"Has anyone seen a toad? A boy names Neville has lost one?" She asked in a bored and irritated tone.
"No." Harry answered.
"Oh, are you doing magic? " She asked when she saw their wands were out. "Let's see then."
"We were not doing magic, just comparing." Emma replied.
"Oh, my wand is 10 and three quarters long, made of vine wood and it has a dragon heartstring core, I am Hermione Granger, I'm a muggleborn witch, I was ever so surprised when I found out I was a witch. My parents were so proud, they were surprised as well, I am the first witch in the family. I've read all of the books, I have read them all at least twice." She said in a single breath at a face pace and showed no sign of stopping. "I'm looking forward to classes, I really want to be in Gryffindor, that's where Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster, went when he was in school. I would love to go there. However I think Ravenclaw would be a nice second choice as I heard that they are all very smart and I like to think that I am smart, I have always gotten good grades in school. I heard that in lessons we..."
"For god sakes take a breath!" Harry interrupted while wondering if this girl had some mutant ability to stop her from needing oxygen.
"There is no need to be rude." The girl, apparently called Hermione, admonished Harry.
"Do forgive him, he is not very patient." Emma said because if Harry and Wanda spoke then they were likely not to say something nice. "However I do recall that you have a toad to look for."
"Yes, I do, goodbye." Hermione sniffed before walking off.
"You see, being polite gets rid of people just as quickly as violence." She said to Harry and Wanda.
"Yes, yes, you're brilliant." Harry said, rolling his eyes.
"Glad you finally noticed." Emma said, causing Wanda to roll her eyes this time.
"So, have you two settled on a house yet?" Emma asked as the trio exited the train.
"I don't really care." Harry replied. "Wherever Wanda goes I suppose." Harry added, earning a smile from Wanda who had once again latched onto his left arm.
"Well I would like to know so I can join you." Emma responded as she latched onto his other arm, causing Wanda's smile to shift into a scowl.
"Wow, he's big." Harry said as he gestured to the tall man with the big beard who was calling all the first years to him.
"Indeed." Emma agreed as she looked at the man who she estimated to be about nine or ten feet tall.
"First years over here." The man called. "Come on, we are going by boat. Four to a boat." He said before he got into a boat, though because of his size he had to have one entirely to himself.
Harry, Wanda and Emma sat in one boat, a few moments later a fourth person sat in the boat, the person was none other than the red headed boy from earlier.
"Hi," The redheaded boy said to Harry. "I am Ron by the way, Ron Weasley."
"Okay." Was all Harry said before the boats started moving on their own. "Looks pretty nice doesn't it?" Harry asked the girls when they were finally able to see Hogwarts.
"It is really pretty." Wanda said.
"Hmm," Emma looked at the castle with an appraising eye. "I suppose it does have a certain charm and memorability to it, far better than what I was expecting."
"Hogwarts is the best," Ron said enthusiastically. "all of my family have gone to Hogwarts, except my sister but that's only because she's too young. I know all about Hogwarts." Ron added proudly.
"Hmm." Harry grunted but did not say anything more.
"I just hope that the education is of the same quality as the view." Emma commented.
"I just hope that the idiots stay away." Wanda replied as she glanced around, seeing the bushy haired girl sitting ahead of them while the blonde boy from before was sat a small distance behind them.
Harry, Wanda and Emma soon found themselves walking along with the rest of the first years into the hall, the first years followed Professor McGonagall who lead them up to the front. McGonagall got on top of the stage and stood next to a stool that was in front of the teachers table, she stood with a scroll in one hand and an ancient looking brown hat in the other one.
"When I call your name you will come forward, place the hat on your head and be sorted." McGonagall said.
"A hat?!" Harry heard Ron hiss. "I'll kill Fred and George, they told me we had to fight a troll!"
"It's a good thing that you 'know all about Hogwarts'." Harry said sarcastically, causing Ron's face to turn slightly red.
The sorting began with the students being sorted by alphabetical order according to their last names, which was why Harry and Wanda were surprised when Professor McGonagall had missed Emma but they did not say anything. Wanda was called up eventually, Harry gave her hand a comforting squeeze before she walked up. Harry could tell that Wanda was extremely uncomfortable having the whole hall look at her but Harry was glad that she controlled herself enough to not use her powers, intentionally or otherwise.
"Hufflepuff!" The sorting hat eventually shouted. Emma looked surprised but Harry was not, Wanda worked hard to control her powers and she was extremely loyal to him at least so for him the house of hard work and loyalty fit her. Wanda's robes turned from plain black to Hufflepuff robe on their own as soon as Wanda had gotten off the stool, she sent Harry a short smile before walking off to the Hufflepuff table. A few more people went to be sorted before Harry was called.
"Harry Potter." Professor McGonagall called. Harry let out a small breath before he walked forward, he ignored the whispering and talking from the students and sat on the stool to allow Professor McGonagall to put the sorting hat on him.
'Hmm, difficult.' A voice echoed in Harry's head, Harry was taken by surprise and barely managed to stop his claws from shooting out of his hands. 'Very difficult.' The voice continued, Harry quickly realised that it was the sorting hat, after a second Harry calmed down. Having people speak in his mind was hardly a new experience from him. 'Plenty of courage, I see, hmm, not a bad mind either. There is talent, plenty of that. Intelligence, but there is also loyalty, you are extremely loyal to those you consider family.'
'Just put me in Hufflepuff.' Harry mentally replied.
'Are you sure Mr Potter?' The hat asked. 'You could go into any house you know, Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, are you sure that Hufflepuff is the house that you want to go to?'
'Are you sure you want to see what would happen to you if you put me anywhere else?' Harry replied.
"Ha," The hat laughed out loud. "it had better be Hufflepuff!" The hat shouted. Harry removed the hat and handed it to Professor McGonagall who was a bit sad that Harry was not one of her lions like his parents but was also just glad that he was here. The Hufflepuff table cheered while the other three houses looked surprised that Harry was not a Gryffindor, especially the Gryffindors who looked quite disappointed.
"We didn't get Potter?" Two redheaded twins blurted out with disbelief. Harry walked off the stage, ignoring everyone else and sat next to Wanda. His left hand immediately grabbed her right from under the table.
"I told you I'd come with you." Harry smiled at her.
"I'm glad." She said smiling brightly. Eventually the other students were sorted, or at least most of them, apart from one.
"Miss, I think you may have missed my name." Emma said to Professor McGonagall, Professor McGonagall frowned as she realised that there were no more names on the list, she was sure that she had gotten all of the names.
"What is your name?" Professor McGonagall asked.
"Emma, Emma Frost Professor." Emma answered. Professor McGonagall looked through the scroll and saw that there was indeed an Emma Frost.
"My apologies," Professor McGonagall said to Emma. "please come and be sorted." She said, Emma calmly walked forward and sat on the stool, the Professor placed the hat on her head. A minute or so later the hat had its answer.
"Hufflepuff!" The hat yelled. Emma allowed a pleased smile to appear on her face before she walked towards the Hufflepuff table and sat next to Harry.
"You used your powers to make her miss your name, didn't you?" Harry whispered to Emma.
"Perhaps, or perhaps she just missed it, that can happen you know." Emma smirked.
A.N: Hi guys, hope you liked the chapter. I had spent some time thinking about which house I was going to put the trio in, since Wanda went first and Harry was going to follow her with Emma following Harry. I was going to put Wanda in either Gryffindor (she is rather impulsive) or Hufflepuff, I was finding it hard to chose when I looked online and saw that Wolverines are related to badgers and I just started writing Hufflepuff before I could stop myself.
As for Emma, I hope I presented the character in a good way. Her and Wanda's connection to Harry will be revealed later on in the story, I want to thank everyone for reading, have a good day and feel free to leave a review.
