It was another day in the Owl House. Eda caught the gambling bug and was playing a game of cards with Owlbert. Only, these were not playing cards they were using, but tarot cards. "Watch closely, Luz. Hexes Hold'em is the most tricky game on the Boiling Isles. Any proper witch knows how to play."
"And the ones who don't cheat," said Strix.
"Silence, you."
Luz said with glee, "Oh boy, cards! The paper rectangles that old people think are fun!"
The two laid down their cards which suddenly came to life and began attacking each other. "Now when it looks like the deck is stacked against you, that's when you break out the wildcard." Eda pulled out a card which caused Owlbert's cause to suddenly explode into flames and form the words, "Winner: Eda!" Eda slapped her hand on the coffee table and laughed triumphantly. "Woo, I win! In your adorable owl face. Ah, I love the feeling of victory; it feels...fluffy?"
Luz and Strix were the first to see it. "Mom!" shouted the latter. "You're growing feathers!"
"Your curse is returning," exclaimed King.
Oh, crud!
The group ran to Eda's room only to find nothing but empty bottles when they opened the drawer. "Oh boy. This is terrible; I'm out of elixir."
"Uh, last time this happened, you turned into this thing," Luz said, showing a picture of the Owl Lady on her phone.
"I know I should be repulsed, but that look is fierce."
"MOM!" shouted Strix.
"You're right, you're right. We need to head to the market."
"Market!" cheered Luz.
King said with glee, "I'm stealing everything that's not nailed down!"
"Before we go, would anyone like to play one more hand of Hexes Hold'em?" Eda patted her pockets, but found them empty. "Hey, where are my cards?"
Strix secretly gave the deck to Owlbert and whispered, "Take these and fly ahead. She'll have to follow us."
That part of the plan worked as Eda saw Owlbert fly away and chased after him. "Owlbert, you sore loser, gimme back my cards!"
The group went to the market place after Eda was coaxed into following them and went to Mr. Elixir's Potion Store. Unfortunately, it was closed. Eda rattled on the store's window and shouted, "Hey, open up, Morton!"
A voice from inside called out, "Uh, ju-...just a minute!"
Meanwhile, Luz, King and Strix watched the commuters coming and going. "Is there anything better than people watching in the Demon Realm?"
A giant egg rolled to a stop in front of a bus stop and the bird inside popped out and flew away, allowing the people to go inside the egg and ride it like a bus. Tiny Nose tried to catch up with the egg, but it was too late. "Wait, wait! Aw, dang it."
Luz shook her head in disappointment, "The curse of tiny legs."
"I know the pain," said King.
Suddenly, a group of tough-looking witches marched down the streets, almost squashing Tiny Nose in the process. Tied to a cart was a large creature resembling a cross between a centipede and a bull. "Whoa, that is one ominous parade," said Luz.
"That's no parade," said Strix darkly. "They're demon hunters; dangerous nomads who capture and sell the most powerful beasts." The bullipede struggled to get out only to stop when one of the hunters, a witch with an eye patch and a sword strapped to his back, zapped it unconscious.
"Which I'm about to become if you don't open up, Morton!" Eda shouted.
The window finally opened and a young man wearing a funnel for a hat stepped forward. "Sorry, Eda! I was up all night poison tasting and for some reason I don't feel great."
"I'm all outta my juice, pal."
"Oh, gee. Lemme see what I can do."
While the shopkeeper fumbled around looking for Eda's potion, Luz and Strix saw their two friends across the street. "Willow and Gus," Luz said. They ran up to them and she said, "Heya, friends!" It was only then she saw their sad faces. "Wait, what's wrong? Who hurt my babies?"
"Them." Willow pointed down the street to Amity and three girls who could only be her friends. One had three eyes and magenta hair tied in a pony tail and wore the yellow uniform of the Potions Coven, the second had black skin and dark pink hair tied in a bun and wore the red uniform of the Bard Coven and the third was another dark-skinned girl with wavy hair and wearing the indigo uniform of the Healing Coven. And as for Amity, she really wasn't paying attention to their conversation and was busy looking at a potion bottle.
"Amity's having a moonlight conjuring and invited everyone but me," Willow said sadly.
"And she keeps posting about it on her Penstagram account," Gus said as he conjured up a scroll and showed a selfie image of Amity and her friends. Below the image was a text, "WitchChick128: It's conjuring night! No dorks allowed!" followed by a pumpkin, heart and ghost emojis. Apparently in this world, social media is on scrolls instead of cellular phones.
Luz read the post and frowned. "What a jerk! What's a moonlight conjuring?"
Strix said, "You spend the night at someone's house, telling stories, playing games..."
"Like a slumber party!" said Luz excitedly. "We have those!"
"Then you bring an object to life with moon magic."
"Like a weird slumber party!"
Willow said, "Gus and I have never been to one; you need at least three people and-"
"I'm three people- I mean, we're three people!" Then Luz had an idea. "No." She pulled Strix and the others into a group hug. "Four people! And we're way better than them!"
Amity's gang walked by and the three-eyed girl laughed at them, particularly at Willow. "Sorry you couldn't get an invite to the conjuring, Willow, only real witches allowed."
The other girls laughed, except Amity who said neutrally, "Leave her alone; it's not her fault she was born without talent."
The girls obeyed her and they walked off. Willow's fists clenched with anger and her eyes glowed green. Luz quickly calmed her down before roots could pop out of the ground. "Don't waste your time getting thorny over them, 'cause we're gonna have our own moonlight conjuring."
"Are you serious? This was on my bucket list, after owning a real human bucket!"
"That's a weird thing to want," said Strix. "Hold on, Luz and I will tell Mom."
"I've got bad news and good news," said Morton. "Bad news is I'm all out 'till next week. Good news is feathers are a good look for you."
"MORTON!"
"Well gee, E. Why'd you wait to re-up 'till now?"
"I've been very busy."
"Yeah, busy playing Hexes Hold'em," said King sarcastically. "She's obsessed with it."
"I am not obsessed!"
"You're playing it right now!"
Eda looked down at the pack of cards held in her hand and asked, "Am I winning?"
Morton looked around then whispered into Eda's ear, "You know, I wouldn't suggest this to just anybody, but if you need your elixir you can try your luck later this evening."
Eda's eyebrows raised a little. "In the night market?"
"There's a guy with a stand, goes by Grimm Hammer; if anyone has what you need, it's him."
At that moment, Luz and Strix walked up to Eda and the former said, "Eda, Strix, Gus and Willow and I are gonna do a moonlight conjuring and stick it to Amity so can we-"
"Not tonight, I'm going out. I need you and Strix to watch the house, I have many precious objects in there."
"Like me!" said King only to be lifted up by his collar by Eda. "You're coming with me; I need an extra pair of eyes looking out for pickpockets, and an extra pair of hands in case I want to pickpocket."
They both cheered, "PICKPOCKET!"
"Then, maybe they can come to the house and-"
"No," Eda said firmly to Luz. "Besides, conjurings are dumb; sitting in a circle holding hands, it's like magic for babies."
"Told you she wouldn't say yes," Strix whispered to Luz.
"Luz! Strix!" Willow called out as she and Gus caught up with their friends. "What did Eda say?"
"Look...guys..." Luz tried to say but Gus pointed to the sky, "Oh, look! The moon is rising into place; the celestial powers only align once a year."
"Oh, I can't believe I finally have enough friends for a moonlight conjuring," said Willow. "Thank you, Luz! Thank you, Strix! Did Eda say it was okay?"
"Actually, she said-" Luz covered Strix's mouth and said, "Eda said yes. We can do it at the Owl House...as long as we don't make a mess or touch anything and never bring up that we did it!" Strix gave her an incredulous look.
"Yes!" said Gus.
"You're the best," said Willow, giving Luz and Strix a hug before running off with Gus, singing, "We're gonna do a conjuring! We're gonna do a conjuring! Conjuring! Conjuring!"
Strix glared at Luz. "This is on your head if anything happens."
That night, Eda put on her cloak and hood and said to her son, "Strix, you're in charge while I'm out. Make sure Hooty and Luz don't get into any trouble."
Suddenly, the door opened and Hooty hooted, "Hoot hoot! I don't need a babysitter; I'm a big boy house!"
"You can count on me; I'd never betray your hard-earned trust," said Luz with a nervous laugh.
Eda eyed her suspiciously. "You're acting suspicious. You're doing that thing where you hide in your hoodie."
"Meow I'm not," said Luz, lowering her hood. "Uh...oh, where's King?"
"He's right here," Eda said, opening her cloak to reveal a sleeping King dangling from a baby carrier. "His little body just conks out when he's weightless. Look at this." She swung King around, but the little demon snored on.
"Aww, he's so dangly," Luz cooed as she tickled King's feet.
"Anyway, really going now," Eda said as she headed out the door. She paused and turned to say, "And Strix...if you and Luz mess up the house, I will never trust you again." She then smiled and waved to them as she flew off on her staff, "No pressure! Bye!"
"Bye, Mom," Strix called out as he and Luz watched her go. He exhaled and said, "I have betrayed my own mother. Okay, guys! Come out!"
"Release!" Two bushes near the house exploded, revealing Willow and Gus. "I'm a sneaky sneakster," said Willow cheerfully.
"I've got leaves in my pants...and I like it," said Gus.
"Company! Hooray!" Hooty cheered. "Finally someone to listen to my stories! Okay, one time, a sparrow flew into my mouth, and then I-" Everyone walked inside and closed the door, not listening to him. "Hey..." He coughed up a sparrow and it chirped angrily at him.
"Welcome to the living room," Strix said as he presented the living room like a circus ringmaster. "We call it the living room because it's alive. Seriously, these walls breathe." He gestured to the walls as they made a breathing sound.
"Enchanting," said Willow with awe.
Gus dug his way into one of Eda's chests of junk. "And look at all these human treasures." He picked up a skull. "And actual humans!"
Luz held up a bowl of candied eyeballs. "We've got snacks, we've got weird music!" But instead of playing music, the record player cackled at them.
"We've got a bucket!" Gus exclaimed, wearing a bucket on his head.
Suddenly, there was a low growl. Everyone looked and saw Selwyn's eye looking in through the window. Willow and Gus let out a scream. "And we got a dragon," said Strix. "Selwyn, please don't tell Mom!" Selwyn rumbled in her throat. "What's it going to take to buy your silence?" Selwyn rumbled again. Strix looked aghast. "No! No way!" Selwyn let out another growl. "Okay, okay! I'll buy you tail extensions!" The dragon nodded before flying off.
"She's not going to tell is she?" asked Luz nervously.
"Nah, she's just going hunting," said Strix. "I hope."
Willow and Gus poked their heads out from behind the couch. "You can communicate with that dragon?" asked Gus. "That is so cool!"
"Yeah. Eda and I raised her since she was an egg. She's a bit of a diva, though."
"And best of all we've got actual friends to do the conjuring with," said Willow with joy. "This is so exciting!"
"So how does this conjuring stuff work," Luz asked her.
"Well first, we find something to animate. Since it's our first time we should pick something meaningful, something beautiful."
"Like this strangely buff little man?" Gus held up a Beefy Bob action figure. He pressed a button and it said, "I'm half beef, half buff!"
"Yes! He's perfect," said Luz.
"I still can't believe Mom got that thing," Strix said dryly.
"That's not exactly what I meant by 'beautiful'," Willow said. Gus gave her puppy dog eyes. "Okay, buff boy it is."
"Yes!" Luz gave Willow a hug.
"Tonight he shall be risen!" exclaimed Gus.
The group sat in a circle and placed Beefy Bob in the center of a ring of candles. "According to the conjuring books I've read, we say the incantation to make a connection with the doll," said Willow.
"Figurine," corrected Gus.
"Hold it. I think we may need a power boost." Strix reached into his pocket and placed the Mask onto the action figure. Willow and Gus looked at it with curiosity while Luz gave him a look of worry. "Relax," he said. "Its magic only makes you crazy if you wear it. A simple conjuring isn't hurting anybody."
"Alright," said Willow. "Let us begin."
The group held hands and began to chant, "Moonlight, we call, we sing. Moonlight take this chance. Moonlight come tie the string. Moonlight start the dance!" Luz, not knowing the spell, just babbled, "Moonlight tie...string...I don't know the words!"
The chant seemed to work as the room was starting to glow a silvery blue aura that blew out all the candles. Stix put the Mask back into his pocket and the kids looked down at the action figure. "That's your cue little man," said an eager Gus. Nothing happened.
Then suddenly, the house began to shake violently before it stopped in a matter of seconds. "Guys, did the entire house just hiccup?!" exclaimed Luz.
"Nuh-uh," said Strix. "That was no hiccup!"
"Little buff guy, what did you do?" Gus asked Beefy Bob.
"A real man never takes accountability!" it said.
Strix looked out the window and gasped. They were suddenly hundreds of feet up in the air and that wasn't all. "Guys? Since when did the house have bird legs?"
Willow gasped in realization, "I think- I think we might've animated the house by accident!"
"The house?!" exclaimed Luz.
Suddenly, the house began to rumble again. Strix looked out the window again. "Guys, we're moving!"
The kids ran outside and faced Hooty. The owl door knocker's eyes were glowing blue and his face was blank. "Hooty, stop!" shouted Strix.
"By the power of moonlight, I have risen. Hoot hoot," he said in a daze.
"It's no good! He's in some kind of trance!"
The house shook as it walked and Gus nearly fell off until Luz and Willow grabbed him. "Our spell must've spread through the house instead of the doll," realized Willow.
"Figurine!" shouted Gus.
Strix grabbed onto the girls and shouted, "HOOTY, STOP!" Abruptly, the house stopped just as it was about to walk off a cliff. The kids pulled Gus back up and panted. "How'd we do that," Gus asked.
Strix looked down at his hands. "Luz, Willow, Gus, let's all hold hands." They grabbed each other's arms and began to glow with the silvery blue aura. "Hooty, step back." The house took three steps backward.
Willow realized, "We're controlling it with the power of friendship...uh- and the moon. Probably the moon."
"This is amazing! What do we do now?" asked Gus.
"On the one hand, we should probably stay put," said Luz.
"On the other hand, we've got a giant walking house and should totally take it on a joyride!"
"No. No way," said Strix. Gus gave him the puppy dog eyes. "Ugh! Fine! But we gotta be back before the moon sets or Eda will kill me. Probably literally." The group held hands and the house marched forward. They were unaware of the demon hunters watching them.
The night market was like a darker mirror version of the marketplace Eda usually went to. Stalls run by seedy looking merchants were everywhere and the merchandise they sold were just as untrustworthy. Evil-looking masks hung from one stand while another sold rusty spiked instruments that hung from the ceiling and another sold what looked like withered hands holding candles.
Eda groaned as she felt more feathers growing. "The curse. I need that elixir. Quick." She asked a shady looking character hidden behind an alley, "Hey, you. You know where I can find a Grimm Hammer?" The rat living in the character's eye socket pointed in the direction Eda needed to go. Grimm Hammer's stand looked pretty ominous with the skull roof and dark curtains.
The house marched through the forest only to stop when Willow spotted the three-eyed girl from Amity's group. "Hey, is that..."
"It's Boscha," said Gus. "That girl who made fun of us."
Bosha seemed to be speaking into a crow like it was a cellphone. "Ugh! Yes, Mom. I'm going to a moonlight conjuring. No, Mom. You can't come. And yes, Mom, it's sad that you're asking." She let the crow go and it flew away. Suddenly, she felt a presence. She turned and looked in the house's direction.
"She noticed us. What do we do," asked Willow.
Prank time. Gus cast a spell that amplified Luz's voice and she said, "Hey. H‐Hey you. You should, uh, stop being so mean to people. You're kind of a jerk."
Bosha made a frown. "Ew. A talking house is giving me a lecture? Whatever. I'll just TP you like I did with the rest of the neighborhood."
"But don't you see? I am no mere house." The house stood to full height and Luz let out a roar, scaring away Bosha. The kids all laughed at the success of their prank. "I've never pranked anyone before," said Gus. "And now I have a taste for it."
"We should follow her to Amity's house to show off our conjuring," said Willow with a hint of menacing glee. "That will show her who's got no talent."
Strix let out a whistle. "You've got a dark side. Frankly, it scares me. Besides, we have to get this house back where it came from."
"Yeah, I'm also starting to think we should head back," said Luz.
Gus checked his scroll. "Amity's updating her Penstagram." Underneath the first text was a new one that read, "Shout out to my fellow witches. #Humans can bite it." Luz frowned when she read the text. "Let's do it." The house marched forward toward Amity's house, unaware that they were being followed.
Eda entered the dark tent and asked, "Hello? Uh, I seek the one they call Grimm Hammer."
"I'm the one they call Grimm Hammer." The lights turned on and revealed the merchant. He was a little pig demon with a curly tail that ended with an arrow headed tip. "Welcome, welcome, welcome," he said in a jovial voice. "I've got weaponry from the Hinterlands, curses from the Winterlands, and jelly beans."
King snorted awake and cried out, "Jellybeans!"
"They're lethally delicious."
Eda looked the small merchant over. "You are Grimm Hammer?"
"Tibblet‐Tibblie Grimm Hammer III. Please, call me Tibbles."
King laughed. "He wants to be called that."
"Okay, Tibbles. I need some of this elixir," Eda said, handing the small pig demon an empty bottle of her medicine.
Tibbles looked it over and said, "Oh. This is one wicked brew. Lucky for you I just stocked up."
"Huzzam!" Eda cheered before pulling out her wallet. "I'll give you ten snails."
"Add two more zeros and it's a deal."
"A thousand snails?! What kind of game are you playing?!"
"Capitalism. Where everybody wins, except you."
"Hey-" Eda stopped when she saw a deck of tarot cards sitting on Tibbles' countertop. Well, she thought, how about we play a different game. "Say, you play Hexes Hold'em?"
King groaned. "Really? Now?"
"Oh! Is that what that game is called?" Tibbles chuckled. "I was just using these as coasters." That sly grin he made told Eda he was no fool.
"How about we make it interesting? I win, you give me the elixir. You win, you can take something of mine."
"Oh, what fun! You're on."
Meanwhile, in Bonesborough, the Owl House marched down the street, giving the people quite a fright. Then the kids saw their target coming into view: a fancy looking mansion sitting on top of a hill. On its front gates were the words, "Blight Manor". "Look, Amity's house," said Willow. "Time to show Amity what a real conjuring looks like." The house stepped forward only to stop when a giant arrow fired and tied a rope around its legs. "What happened?"
"Is that a..." Luz pointed forward with worry. "...giant crossbow?"
A second arrow fired, tying itself around the house itself. Then a man jumped up onto the front porch. Luz and Strix recognized him as one of the demon hunters they saw earlier today. "Knock knock," he said.
Strix stepped forward. "Get the heck away from my house!"
"It's not your house anymore. It's our prize."
The next thing the kids knew, they were tied together and tossed into the living room while the house was placed onto the demon hunters' cart. Luz kicked at the door and shouted, "Hooty! Hooty! You have to wake up."
"If you want this to end as you say, four must hold hands. It's the only way."
"¡Oye, no me hable así!"
Strix struggled to get his secret weapon. "If I could just get the Mask. Willow! Help me out! Reach into my pocket!"
Willow sighed sadly. "I'm sorry, Strix. You shouldn't ask me to help with anything."
"Willow..." Suddenly the kids jerked backward when the cart carrying the house stopped abruptly. "Did we stop?" asked Strix.
"My insides didn't," groaned Gus.
The demon hunters' leader opened the door and chuckled evilly as he tossed the kids out of the house and into the hands of the rest of his group. "Take the house and rip out the house demon," he said. "We can sell it to restaurants as exotic meat."
"No! Hooty would taste terrible," said Strix.
"Hey, I'm a refined taste. Hoot! Hoot!"
"You're not helping, Hooty!"
"What do we do with the worms?" another demon hunter asked the leader.
"Throw them over the cliff," the leader said.
The hunter chuckled as he lifted them up with ease and walked to the edge of a cliff. "All righty, kids. Here's the end of your short little lives."
"Wait! Wait! Wait! Is this really what you wanna be doing with your life," asked Gus desperately. "Tossing kids from cliffs?"
"Actually, yes. It's been my dream since I was a boy." The kids gave him an incredulous look. "I was a strange child." Then he dropped them. "Whee!"
The kids all screamed and would have found out the hard way why it was called the Boiling Isles had a branch growing from the cliffside not grabbed the rope. "If we're not killed now, we will be when Eda finds out about the house," said Luz.
"And knowing my Mom," said Strix. "She will probably literally kill us."
"Luz, Strix, I'm so sorry," said Willow sadly. "You wanted to turn back but I just had to show off to Amity. The truth is she and I used to be friends."
Luz made a surprised, "Whaaat?" while Strix asked, "Why were you friends with Blight?"
"We played together as kids, but when she got her magical powers and I didn't, she stopped hanging out with me."
The branch started to give way. "Guys, is now the best time?"
Willow sighed, "I just wanted to prove to her that I was a powerful witch too."
Strix scoffed, incredulous. "That's ridiculous. You helped bring my house to life. Amity doesn't know what she's talking about. Next to Eda, you're the most powerful witch I know. No offense, Gus."
"No, not at all. I know what I'm about." The branch let out a loud crack. "This tree can't hold us much longer."
Willow managed to free one of her arms. "There. Now, if I could just reach that... root. Gotcha!" She grabbed the root hanging from the cliffside and activated her magic.
Three. That's how many times Eda lost to Tibbles. "Oof. That was painful to watch," said King.
Eda slammed her hand onto the countertop. "You card shark. You hustled me," she growled.
"Looks like you forgot about my wild card," Tibbles said with a chuckle. The same wild card Eda used to beat Owlbert. "In any case, I'd like my prize now. And I choose the little bone boy." He grabbed King by the horns and pulled him out of the baby carrier. "I've always wanted a tiny servant to model my line of baby clothes."
"No! I don't look good in clothes. I'm all‐natural. Eda, do something!"
Eda tried to cast a spell, but nothing happened and more feathers popped out. "I can't perform magic." Tibbles cast a spell of his own and locked Eda in chains. She fell down and landed on her side. "You think this can stop me? I can still bite your ankles."
Tibbles chuckled wickedly. "You don't think I know who you are, Eda the Owl Lady?" Eda gasped. "That's right. I've seen your wanted posters around here. I wonder how much the Emperor's Coven would pay me to hand you over?"
Back with the demon hunters, the one who tossed the kids was bragging about his job. "Yeah, they tried to fight back and they nearly got me. But you know, I handled it."
The leader narrowed his eyes at him. "They were children, Tom."
Suddenly, there was a low rumbling. Everyone turned to see the kids standing on top of a tangled mess of branches. Willow's face was now green and her eyes were red, "We may be children, but we're also witches. Powerful ones!" Willow snapped her fingers and the branches shot out and gave the demon hunters powerful wedgies that made them scream before hanging them on trees. She laughed manically before Strix took the Mask off her. She blinked in surprise. "Was that me?"
"Remind me not to get on your bad side," said Strix as he and the kids ran back into the Owl House and held hands, taking control of it again. "Come on," said Strix, looking out to see the moon about to set. "We've gotta get this house back before Mom finds out!"
The hunters watched as the house marched off into the forest. "'They were children, Tom,'" Tom mocked the leader.
"King, I'm sorry," Eda said sincerely to King, who was now dressed in a little sailor suit and had a ball and chain around his left ankle.
King did not even look at her as he said, miffed, "King? Who's King? I go by Little Bone Boy now."
"I know I have a problem. I get obsessed with Hexes Hold'em. But I'm done with that stupid game. Look." She grabbed the closest card with her mouth and ate it.
"You promise?"
"I promise."
"Okay, okay." King freed himself from the shackle with ease. "I'll grab you the elixir and then we can bust out of here."
"Bone boy!" Tiibbles suddenly shouted, after returning from communicating with the Emperor's Coven.
"Heh?"
"You will do no such thing. The Emperor's Coven is already on its way to send this witch here to the Conformatorium. And I just rustled up some more clothes for you to try on."
Eda swore she felt the ground shake. "Just because I have a model's body doesn't mean you can use me like this," King shouted in defiance at Tibbles. She felt the rumbling get closer. "I can and I am, bone boy. I've got the cards stacked against you," Tibbles mocked him. "And nothing can stop me. Nothing!"
At that moment, a giant bird's foot stomped on the little pig demon's stand. "Sorry, mister!" Luz called out.
Eda laughed at Tibbles' misfortune of having his stand crushed by a giant walking house. Wait. "Wait, what‐‐ Was that my house?"
"Eda, quick!" King tossed the bottle of elixir into her mouth. She guzzled it down and felt the feathers molt off and her powers return. With a snap of her fingers, she broke the chains holding her.
Tribbles bemoaned in horror at what was once his stand. "No, no, no! My scam stand."
"Sorry, Tibbles, old boy. It looks like you forgot about the wild card," Eda said as she tossed some cards in his face and walked off with King.
"Curse you, witch! Curse you, bone boy! I'll have my revenge! Tibblet‐Tibblie Grimm Hammer III will have his revenge!" Whatever was left of the stand crashed down on him.
The house returned to its original spot and sat back down in the hole as the legs vanished. Luz opened one eye. "Did we do it?"
"Yep," said Strix. He plopped down onto his back. "That was the most exhausting thing I've ever done."
"Is the room spinning or is it just me," Hooty asked as his trance broke. "Ah. Just a little house humor. Ooh," he said, just as exhausted as Strix.
"Sorry about all that, Hooty," Luz said sheepishly.
"It's okay. I'm just glad I was included."
Suddenly, the door closed and guess who was behind it. Strix's eyes widened and he stood up immediately. "Mom!"
"You two are so busted!"
"Oh, man," said Luz.
"You held a moonlight conjuring."
"We did."
"And you animated my house. MY HOUSE!"
"Yes," Luz and Strux said shamefully. Willow and Gus came to their defense. "No. Don't punish Luz and Strix. We're the ones who pushed them to do the conjuring," said Willow.
"If you're gonna eat me just do it now. Do it now!" said Gus.
"She's not going to eat you," said Strix. "That's fallen out of style."
"Hey, you didn't have to do that," said Luz.
"Yes, Luz. I did," Willow said with a smile.
"Well, you're all guilty, so you'll all be punished by cleaning my house top to bottom," Eda said, conjuring a bunch of cleaning materials for the kids. "And another thing!" They winced, waiting for whatever she had in store next. However, to their surprise, she smiled and said, "That was totally amazing. And I'm so joining you for next year's conjuring. Now get to work."
Eda plopped down on the couch with King next to her and watched the kids get to cleaning the place right away. "I can't believe they animated a whole house," said King.
"Yeah. You're right. That takes some powerful magic," replied Eda.
"You know, I still kinda wish we got to show up Amity," Luz said to Willow.
"Yeah. Too bad no one will know of our daring adventures."
"I wouldn't count on that," said Strix.
"What makes you say that?" asked Gus.
"When we're done cleaning, check your Penstagram accounts."
At Amity's house, her gang's conjuring didn't go as expected. "Ugh. So what if we couldn't move a doll. Now we have time for what really matters... Penstagram." While her friends logged into their social media accounts, Amity stared out the window with a neutral expression on her face. Suddenly, she heard her friends gasp. Curious, Amity walked over and saw what was the hot topic on Penstagram. Images of a walking house marching across Bonesborough with Willow and her friends controlling it. Amity and her friends had only one thing to say. "WHAT?!"
