At one of Hexside's hallways, Boscha was showing off her new nail styles to her friends. Unlike fake nails, these ones actually transformed your nails. The first batch turned her nails into tentacles. "Too wiggly." The next batch turned her nails into fire. "Too obvious." The third batch turned her nails into talons. "Now we're talkin'! I think today is a talons day - rawr!" Amity wasn't listening and was more focused on her book.

Skara handed Boscha and Amity red butterfly cards that had Skara's name and the number 15 on them. "Hey girls! Time to bug out at my birthday party! Invite only, but you witches are my VIP's!"

Amity took a closer look at her invitation and her eyes widened when it flapped its wings. "Are these made of real insect wings?"

"My dad spared no expense! You only turn 15 once!"

Boscha groaned. "You only turn every age once Skara..."

"Prepare thyself to do battle like a human! Thumb war!" The girls turned to see Luz and Willow having a thumb war while Strix sat nearby, reading his books.

Willow giggled. "It's funny cuz it's stupid!"

Boscha snorted in disgust. "It's so weird that a human goes here now. Too bad she's already burned her social life at the stake. Any friend of Willow's is an automatic dork." Suddenly, her invitation began to shed. "Ugh! Skara! Why did you give me an invite that was molting? Gross! Give me another one." She tossed her invitation to the ground where a whole bunch of students eyed it greedily.

"An invitation to Skara's party! I want it!"

"I want it!"

"It's mine!"

"No it's mine!"

The result was a full scale riot over one silly little invite. The teachers did nothing to stop the fight. In fact, they egged the fighting students on. "Kid fight!"

"Kid fight?"

"KID FIGHT!"

"Oh my gosh Willow, I'm so excited for photo class," said Luz as she opened her locker. "I can't believe you can make pictures of your actual memories! Ima see me some baby Willow!"

"I'll admit, I was adorable."

"Not as adorable as me," said Strix.

Suddenly, Luz's locker snapped closed before she could retrieve her books. "Don't eat that!" She struggled with it until she fell on her butt. The locker growled at her. She hissed back at it.

Coming down the hall was Amity and her friends. "I can't believe they'd even hang out with her," laughed Boscha. "It's just embarrassing. 'Oh look at me! I'm going on a date with my ferns!'" Skara laughed. Amity's face remained neutral.

Willow frowned as they walked by. Luz put a hand on her shoulder. "That could be anyone!"

"Solid Willow impression, Boscha! Amity, weren't you friends with Willow?"

Amity looked back at Willow before looking away. "I'm a Blight, we only associate with a select few. Keep annoying me though, I'm happy to select fewer."

"Oh I could've sworn you guys hung out."

Willow groaned in sadness. "Bah, who needs her?" asked Strix, waving Amity and her friends off. "Forget about her."

Photo class dealt with literal photographic memories. The memory was pulled out of a person's mind with a pair of magic tweezers and took the form of a polaroid and hung up for development. Luz held up the tweezers, ready to pull out another memory from Willow's mind. "Alright memory melon, let's pick another juicy one!"

"Be careful with my brain!" sang Willow. Although she was being cheerful about it, she was serious. If done improperly, the tweezers could cause brain damage. Carefully, Luz pulled a memory polaroid out of Willow's ear and hung it for development.

"How's the work?" asked the teacher. She was a rotund demon with purple skin and three eyes. "You know that some prints have greater clarity than others, these are moments that invoke strong emotional response."

"All the colors of the brainbow!" Luz reached to touch one of the photos, only to be stopped by Strix.

"Don't," he said. "If you damage the photo, you'll damage the memory itself."

"I see you've been paying attention, Mr. Clawthorne," said the teacher. "You're more like your aunt than your mother, after all." That seemed to hurt Strix.

"Whoa. Photo class is intense," said Luz. One of the photos became developed and showed a younger Willow with messy hair. "Oh my gosh, Willow, you had an awkward hair phase, too!? I knew we were meant to be friends." Luz held up her own photo of a younger version of herself with crazy hair. Ooo, there's more!" More photos began to develop, showing more memories of Willow, mostly with her two fathers.

The last one, however, made Willow uncomfortable. It showed Amity and herself when they were probably five-years-old, at a birthday party and giving each other a hug. Willow frowned and folded her arms. "Ugh."

"Hey, I know you and Amity have a history, wouldn't you feel better talking about it?" asked Luz.

"No, I'd rather do this." Willow turned the photo around. "That's my motto after all! Out of sight, out of mind."

The bell rang. Before Willow could leave for lunch, Luz put a hand on her shoulder. "If you won't tell me what she did, I'll never be able to cook up a scheme to make you friends again!"

"Luz, I get it, but I don't want you to do that. No schemes, no plots, no ruses, none! Okay? Now let's get to lunch!"

Luz and Strix watched her go with concern. "Luzer, I'm really worried," he said. "She's clearly bottling up her emotions. But how are we going to get her to talk?"

"I don't know. And don't call me Luzer." She grew a sly smile as she turned the photo around. "She never did mention anything about shenanigans."

"How's that going to help?" asked Strix.

"I'm still thinking." Luz and Strix ran to catch up with Willow. At the same time, Boscha and Amity were walking pass the classroom.

"I can't believe I made him cry, like, he's the teacher," Boscha gossiped to Amity.

Amity wasn't paying attention. Instead, she focused on the birthday photo of herself and Willow. "Oh, no," she whispered.

"Why do you look like you've seen a ghost? Is there a ghost in photo class? Are they cute!"

Amity quickly ran inside and slammed the door. "Yep, just a super cute ghost, but they're all mine!"

"Ask if they have any friends!"

Amity ran to the photo and looked at it sadly. "Willow...I'm sorry, but I have to do this." She cast a fire spell that set the photo on fire. She sighed in relief, and was about to leave when she suddenly smelled smoke. She turned around swiftly and gasped in horror. All the other photos of Willow's memories caught on fire. "Oh no! No, no, no, no!" Without thinking, she tried to blow the flames out, but this only made the situation worse. "Oh, come on!"

At lunch, there was a new bizarre sight: Gus at a cork board with various pictures of Boiling Isles' inhabitants. It looked like he was contemplating on them.

"Hey there, detective, are you solving a crime or about to commit one," asked Luz.

"This is one problem crime can't solve, my interview for journalism class is due tomorrow! I'm supposed to choose someone 'interesting, accomplished, and noteworthy'! People aren't meant to be all those things! Curse your need for perfection, Gus!" Strix splashed some water on him. "Thanks. I needed that."

"Any time, pal."

"So Willow...whoa, are you okay?" Luz asked as she saw Willow starting to sweat profusely.

"Do you have a fever, or something?" Strix asked.

"When did it get so hot?" She drank some water, causing steam to come out of her ears. Then she dumped the entire bottle onto herself, causing more steam to come out. Then she made a silly face as she asked, in a daze, "Uhh, hi! I'm Willow! Remind me of your names?"

"This is serious journalism, Willow, clowning around will get you nowhere," said Gus.

"I'm-I'm serious! Who are you?"

"I'll admit, this amnesia spin has peaked my interest."

Strix said, really concerned along with Luz, "Gus, I think she really can't remember anything! It's like..."

He and Luz gasped in horror when they realized at the same time, "Like her memory is gone!"

The kids ran back to the photography class and Gus yelled, "Hexside Free Press! What's going on here?" They gasped when they found Amity desperately trying to put out the flames only to fail miserably.

"Hi," she said meekly.

"YOU IDIOT!" snapped Strix, grabbing a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.

Amity face palmed. "Why didn't I think of that?"

"That's not the point," shouted Luz. "You destroyed Willow's memories?!"

"I-I saved as many as I could!" The remaining photographs were burned when an ember landed on them. Amity grunted in frustration. "Ugh! Why would they make memories so flammable!"

Willow, her mind quite empty at this point, giggled as she looked at her right hand and wiggled her fingers. "Have I always had this crazy thing?" She slapped herself in the face. "Blep, blep! Eeee, heee, heee, I can tell we're gonna be good friends!" Then she fell to the ground.

Strix carried the empty-headed girl bridal style as he said, "We've got to get her to Mom, NOW!"

After the kids brought her to the Owl House, Strix laid the giggling mess that was once Willow onto the couch as Luz explained what happened to Eda. Amity looked around the living room with curiosity. "So this is the Owl House?"

"Yep," said Luz.

"And you...sleep here?"

"Only when the night critters allow us to," said Strix. "And Selwyn."

"Soo, you set Willow's memories on fire and erased everything," Eda summarized the situation. "Even minor damage can have huge effects!"

"Ahh, a chair for sitting," Willow sang as she sat on the couch on her head before falling over.

"Yep, her brain's burned up real good. Damage like that can change everything about a person. Willow may never be the same." Amity looked extremely guilty when the Owl Lady said that.

Willow readjusted herself and sat on her rear. "I got it!" She saw King sleeping next to her. "Ooo, a furry fruit! I'm gonna peel it!"

She grabbed King, startling him awake. "What? What is happening?"

Strix pulled King out her hands and she wrapped her arms around him and tugged on his wings hidden under his shirt. "Hey. You. Your wings are so beautiful. Why do you hide them," she giggled. Strix made a deadpan expression before he punched Willow in the face, knocking her out cold and knocking her glasses off.

"Strix!" exclaimed Luz and Amity.

"What? It's not like her brain could get any more damaged."

"Is there anything we can do," Luz asked Eda.

"There is one way, but it's terribly dangerous and partially illegal," she said seriously. Then her tone turned to a jovial one, "So you're in the right place! I'll send you into her mind to fix the damage."

"Be still my fantasy loving heart, I have always wanted to do this! Thank you Boiling Isles."

"It won't be easy, you have a lot to fix in there. It's a mess! Yep, whoever did this to Willow showed unbelievable disregard for her safety, downright despicable! Oh right, it was you." The Owl Lady pointed to Amity. "Anyways Luz, who's going inside with you?"

"Me," said Strix.

"Anyone else?"

Hooty hooted, "Maybe I can help! I'm pretty good at getting stuck inside people's heads! Ow!" Strix threw a book at him before slamming the door.

"Not you," he snapped. "Someone with more brains."

Luz thought it over. Her eyes moved to Gus, who was still struggling with his project. "I'm running out of time, ugh, I'm in total free fall!" He noticed Eda's Book of the Dead. "Must I turn to forbidden sources? Aah!" He screamed as the book snarled at him.

Luz shook her head. "Gus has a lot on his plate. Amity, you have to go with me."

Amity was shocked. Then she turned her head away in shame. "Willow might not want me in there..."

"Doesn't matter," said Strix. "This is all your fault!"

"He's right. You set everything in there on fire! You have to help." Luz extended her hand out.

Amity conceded and took her hand. "Okay, I'll do what I can."

"Alright! Bold choice to take the girl who caused the mess," said Eda, handing Luz a bell. "When you're done, ring that and I'll cast you back. Oh, and keep an eye out for her 'inner Willow'. She's the gatekeeper of emotions and memory. She might help ya. Now, here we go!" Eda cast a spell circle and transformed Amity, Luz and Strix into particles of light before transporting them into Willow's head.

Nothing but darkness was all Luz, Strix and Amity saw. Then, in a flash of light, they found themselves in a forest with upside-down trees. Carved into the trees were painting frames, some of them were badly damaged.

"Where's her inner Willow," Amity asked. "Think she'll help?"

"I don't know," said Strix. "I guess we'll just have to start fixing stuff on our own. However we do it."

"Let's see here." Luz approached one of the damaged frames and blew dust off it, revealing the image of a makeshift tent on a beach. She touched the painting, only for her hand to phase through it. "Hey, I found something magical, Ima put my face in it!" She stuck her face in the frame and was sucked into it.

Amity noticed her friend was missing. "Luz?"

"Luz?" Strix called out.

Luz popped her head out of the painting. "I think I found the memories, let's go!" She grabbed her friends by the hands and pulled them in. "Welcome to Willow's beautiful...memory?" Luz trailed off when she saw the damage.

The whole landscape was entirely gray and covered in scorch marks, even the sky. Amity seemed to recognize it despite the burns. "Lake Lacuna! This is where me and Willow took swimming lessons! The ash must be from the fires." She saw the makeshift tent and gasped. "Our fort! In the dunes!" She, Luz and Strix ran up to it and they tried to repair it. "One time Willow and I wanted to play hooky from our swim lessons, so we built this!"

"Forts, hooky, Willow? Can words get any cuter," said Luz with adoration.

"We knew the swim teacher would be on the prowl, but Willow said she'd protect us with an illusion spell."

When the debris was finally cleared away, Luz went, "Wha? It's like dog house for angels!"

"Wait, something is missing." Amity bent down and picked up a flag with the letters "A + W" and placed it on the tent. Suddenly, there was a flash of light and the kids found themselves back in the forest with the upside-down trees. "We're back!"

"Hey, look at this," Strix pointed to the tree they were just in. It was no longer burnt anymore. "Looks like repairing the fort healed the memory."

Just then, the frame came to life and began to play the memory like a video. The kids watched a younger Amity and Willow hide in their fort. Strix noticed that the Amity in her younger days had brown hair. "Huh. I always thought you dyed your hair green," he said.

"Ugh! The seagulls are back again," the younger Amity said in annoyance.

"Don't worry, I'll get rid of them!" The younger Willow tried to cast a spell to make the gulls go away, but unfortunately the spell went wrong and the gulls were brought inside the fort, making them attack the kids. The swimming teacher heard the commotion and dragged the two little girls back to class.

"Willow!" snapped the younger Amity.

"I'm sorry, I thought I was getting better!"

Amity sighed as she watched the memory with Luz and Strix. "Oh, Willow was a...late bloomer."

"I know, but now she's more like a great bloomer," said Luz, trying to cheer Amity up. "This place is like theatre showing her most important moments! Now let's fix some more!" Then she saw it. A tree with the birthday photo of Amity and Willow. "The photo that started it all! Let's do it next."

Amity quickly grabbed Luz's shoulder before she could go. "Wait! Uhh, you want important moments, this one might be about a crush!"

Strix raised an eyebrow. "Is there something you're not telling us?"

"No," Amity said, a little frantically. "L-Let's just save that one as the best for last."

Strix eyed her skeptically. Still, he followed her and Luz into Willow's "awkward hair phase" photo. They didn't realize something on fire was watching them.

Back at the Owl House, Gus was still struggling with his writer's block. "No one can give me the interview I need, except...myself!" He cast an illusion clone of himself who said, "I'd rather die than expose my secrets!"

"Then die you shall," Gus said as he readied to fight his clone until Eda the Owl Lady cleared her throat and said, "If you need an interview, look no further. Interesting? Heh, I'm a bad girl living in a secret fortress."

Hooty smashed through a window and piped up, "I'm the secret!"

"Shh! Noteworthy?" Eda pointed to her wanted poster hanging on the wall. "I'm public enemy number one. Accomplished?" She made the owl symbol on the ceiling glow. "I'm the greatest witch who ever lived!"

Gus asked his clone, "What do you think?"

King startled the poor boy by bursting out of his clone's chest and said, "I think that if you're handing out attention, I deserve it." He jumped down to the ground and the clone disappeared.

Gus looked from Eda to King. "I might choose one of you, but which one of you? If you want to be picked. You'll have to impress me!" The King of Demons and the Owl Lady glared at each other.

In Willow's mind, Luz, Strix and Amity were still repairing the memories, including one where Willow played with her fathers at the slay ground, one where Willow and Amity read books at the young adult section of the library (and getting chased out by the library for it), and one where Amity and Willow rod the roller ghoster ride. "Aaaaah! I don't feel so good!"

The kids left the memory and Luz turned the frame around. "We...don't need to see how this one ends..."

"Yeah, Willow threw up a lot that day," Amity said with a chuckle. "That's when you knew she was having fun."

"I am filled with cuteness and disgust," said Strix.

Luz noticed the sad look on Amity's face. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah, I just...I can't believe I almost erased all of this. I really messed things up."

"Yes, you did," said Strix.

"But don't worry," said Luz. "We've gotten really good at fixing memories! I won't rest until we've gotten this all sorted out, repeat after me! We can fix this together! Come on!"

"We can fix this together," Amity said with a blush.

"Heck yeah we can! I know some of these memories must be painful for you, but, what happened to you guys? And why are you trying to hide it?"

"I just-" Amity gasped when she saw a pink flame fly off in the distance. "What's that?"

Luz and Strix looked behind, but saw nothing. "Look, if you don't wanna talk about it, just say something," the former said.

"No! I actually saw something! At least...I think I did?"

Luz sighed as she walked to a random painting. "If you need me, I'll be fixing this memory of a ball pit." She jumped in.

"Wait, that's not-"

Luz burst out immediately. She looked a little disturbed. "It's full of eggs! Why is this memory full of eggs?!"

"Yeah, that one's hard to explain."

Strix waved them off. "You know what? Why don't you deal with this one, ladies? I don't feel comfortable with this memory."

"Is it because you were hatched from an egg?" asked Luz. Strix blushed then pushed her and Amity in.

Back at the Owl House, Eda and King were still fighting over Gus' attention. "Just give up, King, cuz I got this."

"You got nothing, no one could turn down an interview with someone this pretty!"

Suddenly, Gus shined a light in their eyes like he was interrogating them. "You want this interview? You better start answering some tough questions. Where were you born?"

"Wah?" asked King, a little confused.

"What'd you eat for breakfast this morning?"

"Wha?" was Eda's response.

"What's your greatest strength?"

"My decisiveness," said King. "Wait, I changed my mind!"

"This will be the greatest interview of all time, so if you want it, you'll have to dazzle me!"

Eda was genuinely intimidated. "This kid scares me."

Meanwhile, Luz and Amity reunited with Strix after they finished the egg memory. "We're getting pretty good at fixing these," said Amity.

"Yeah, and there's only one last memory to fix! The one you're suspiciously avoiding," Luz said, pointing the birthday photo.

Once again, Amity became frantic. "Me? Avoiding? No, but let's skip it! Let's ring that bell!" She tried to reach for the bell in Luz's pocket, only to be stopped when Luz blocked her.

"Amity, you gotta stop being weird, we have to fix all of them. Unless...there's something in there you don't want me to see...look, I'm not here to judge, I'm just here to help Willow."

Amity got angry. "Help?! All you're doing is prying into your friends' lives! Did you ever think maybe it's none of your business?"

Strix let out an incredulous scoff. "Excuse me?! YOU'RE the one who made Willow a mindless fop! We're in this mess because of YOU! Wouldn't burning her memory also be called prying into your friends' lives?" Amity silently glared at him. "Alright, enough of this beating around the bush. What are you so afraid of, Blight? Is that memory the reason you and Willow stopped being friends?"

"I DON'T WANT TO RELIVE WHAT HAPPENED!" Amity cried, startling both him and Luz. She panted with anger before she sniffed the air. "Is something...burning?"

The kids turned and gasped when they saw the forest covered in pink flames. "Look!" Luz pointed to the source of fires: a large, pink fire monster. It took one look at the kids and roared as it charged at them. The kids let out a scream and ran.

"Hide, hide, hide," Amity panted, pulling Luz and Strix behind one of the trees. The kids peaked out from their hiding spot and watched as the monster set fire to the memories before walking off.

"All that hard work, all those memories fixed," Strix groaned. "It's undoing so much hard work!"

"Please call Eda, I don't wanna be here when it comes out," said Amity.

Luz rang the bell, but nothing happened.

That's because Eda, or anyone for that matter, couldn't hear the ringing over the sound of Eda's own bells as she did a dance to impress Gus. "How's that for interesting? There's levels to me kid, levels I say!"

Gus watched and nodded with intrigue. "Yes...that was good."

"No it wasn't," King snapped. "If you want noise, I'll give you noise!" He grabbed a metal spoon and a washboard and banged on it.

Amity frantically rang the bell and shouted, "Why won't she answer?"

Strix deadpanned, "Mom's not that reliable."

Suddenly, the flame monster appeared. "Run!" shouted Amity. The kids hid behind another tree, but for some odd reason, the monster ignored them and began burning the memories. "Why is it destroying all the photos?"

"I don't know," said Luz. Then she saw something strange. The memories of Willow and her father were untouched. "That one hasn't been burnt! Or that one!" Then it hit her when she saw that the only memories that were being destroyed were the ones that had Amity in them. "Amity, that thing isn't after any photo, it's after YOU!"

"What?!"

The flame monster locked eyes with Amity's and let out a roar. Strix put on the Mask and said, "Alright, enough is enough!" He pulled out a fire extinguisher. "Hmmm... No, too small."

"Strix," Luz shouted, tugging his arm. "Stop playing around and run!"

"Hold on, hold on," he said, pushing her aside. "I know I got it in here." The monster came closer. Strix pulled out a bunch of random junk from his pockets, including a safe, a rubber chicken, a canoe, a whole house and even the Titanic and nonchalantly tossed them at the monster who easily burned them to ashes. "Aha! Found it!" He pulled out a fire extinguisher the size of a tank and jumped onto the lever. Foam sprayed out of the nozzle, dousing the monster as it let out a scream.

"Oh, yeah!" Strix danced around like an idiot and sang, "Goodness gracious, great balls of...of..." His voice trailed off when he saw the monster take a more familiar shape. "...Willow?"

Amity stepped forward. "Are you the inner Willow?"

Willow stood up and glared at Amity. "I was." She stepped forward, leaving behind fire as she walked. "Love, sadness, fear, I used to be a being made of all the emotions. But ever since you set Willow's mind on fire, all I can feel is anger!" Fire burst from her hands and set more memories of herself and Amity on fire.

"Please, stop!" pleaded Luz.

"But Amity wanted this." She grabbed the birthday photo, ready to tear it in half. "Every moment she touched, I'm going to burn."

"You're just hurting Willow, why are you doing this?" demanded Amity.

"Still haven't figured it out yet, then I'll show you!" Willow grabbed Amity and tossed her into the photo. Then she sneered at Luz and Strix. "You wanted to know everything right? Then come take a trip down memory lane."

"You're saying it all creepy, but I like the sound of- whoa!" Luz yelped as she and Strix were tossed into the photo.

The next thing the kids knew, they were in what looked like a child's bedroom and a very fancy one at that. "Where are we?" asked Luz.

The inner Willow appeared and said to Amity, "You said I was hurting Willow? I was just finishing what you started!"

Just then, the younger versions of Amity and Willow appeared. Willow looked hurt as Amity shouted, "You have to get out Willow- now!"

"Wait! Why?"

"Because-Because-"

"Is it because I still can't do magic? Amity, I'm sorry I got us in trouble at the beach, I just can't get the spells right."

"Well, that is why! Because you're a weakling! You can't do magic so I don't wanna be your friend, now go!"

Amity's face looked broken as she watched the scene play out. Luz and Strix gasped. This was the day Amity and Willow stopped being friends. And on Amity's birthday no less! The inner Willow growled, "Then you let your new friends pick on her for years, all because you thought she was weak, now I can erase all of that. After all, out of sight, out of mind."

Luz gasped as Amity's feet suddenly caught on fire. Strix pointed the fire extinguisher at the fire, but the inner Willow burned that, too. "Why are you helping her? I'm just doing what you told Willow. Forget about her, that's what you said, right?"

"Willow, stop," Strix said, taking the Mask off. "Remember when I put the Mask on you to give you that power boost? Back when we were saving Hooty from those demon hunters? You were crazy! The Mask brings out the worst in people who repress emotions! You clearly had so many things you wanted to talk about, but you kept all your emotions bottled up until they were ready to explode!"

"SHUT UP! I just want to forget! Forget the pain, forget the sadness, FORGET HER!"

"Wait! Please," Amity cried. "Before all this started, there-there was something else."

A new memory played in front of the kids. It showed the younger Amity talking to two hidden figures.

"Amity," said a stern male's voice.

"What is Willow doing here? She wasn't on the guest list for a reason," said a female voice, just as stern as the male's.

Luz, Strix and the inner Willow's eyes widened. Those were Amity's parents!

"But, she's...she's my best friend," insisted the younger Amity.

"Nonsense, Blights only associate with the strongest of witchlings," Mr. Blight said coldly. "You can choose a new friend from one of the suitable companions we invited." Images of a younger Boscha and Skara appeared.

"But they're mean! Just because you work with their parents doesn't mean I have to like them!"

"Good children don't squabble, dear," said Mrs. Blight. "Sever your ties with Willow, and if you don't-"

"-then we will," her husband finished her sentence, making Amity gasp.

"We'll make sure the girl is never admitted into Hexside. Now go and try not to make a scene."

Amity's memory ended and Amity said shamefully, "Willow, you were never too weak to be my friend. I was too weak to be yours. I can't take back what I've done, but I can promise this, I won't let Boscha and her gang pick on you ever again!" She took out the butterfly invitation to Skara's party from her pocket and gave it a gentle tug. "I'm not actually gonna rip it cuz it's a real butterfly, but you get the gesture, right?"

Willow smiled at Amity, tears forming in her eyes. "I do." She took Amity's hand and said, "I think Willow should keep her memories of you. The good, and the bad."

"Me too," Amity said with a smile.

"And, if it's okay, Amity, Strix and I still have more work to do," Luz said. The inner Willow nodded. In a flash of light, Luz, Strix and Amity were back in the forest, now entirely restored to its former self.

They heard giggling behind them. They turned to see the inner Willow playing with another inner Willow, this one taking the form of Willow's childhood self. They paused their game to wave to Amity who waved back. Luz was leaking tears of joy. Strix hid his tears.

Luz wiped her eyes and asked Amity, "So, does this mean you and Willow are buddies again?"

"I'm not sure."

"Let's see." Luz took the bell out of her pocket and rang the bell.

Eda and King panted heavily. The living room was a mess with all sorts of props they used to try to impress Gus. "So? Who got the gig, kid," asked Eda.

"Well, this has been the hardest choice of my entire life. But with the public interest in mind, the interview goes to...Hooty!"

Eda and King were shocked. "HOOTY?!"

The front door swung open and the owl door knocker hooted questioningly.

"Well, your performances got me thinking, what creates the most interesting people," asked Gus. "Only the Owl House itself." Hooty let out a gasp of glee. "Tell me everything, Mr. Hoot!"

"I've been waiting to hear those words all my life," Hooty said as Gus walked outside and the door slammed close.

Eda and King grumbled darkly. "Oh I'm gonna do it," said the former. "I'm gonna bake that bird in a pie!"

"I'm gonna bake that kid into a pie!" snapped the latter.

Suddenly, they heard a bell ringing. "Huh?" She remembered Willow. "Oh yeah, I put people in there." With a snap of her fingers, she brought Luz, Strix and Amity back into the living room.

The kids looked around at the state the room was in. "What happened while we were gone?" asked Strix.

"And where's Gus," asked Luz. "What did you do with Gus?"

"He's fine, but he's dead to us," Eda said glumly as she and King walked upstairs.

"Those are two very mixed messages."

Willow groaned and slowly rose from the couch as she awoke. "Willow! Do you know who I am," asked Luz.

Willow squinted her eyes. "Um...a friendly scarecrow? Ha! just messing, I remember everything!"

Luz let out a squeal of joy and relief. She pulled her and Strix into a squeeze. "She's back, folks! My girl's back, I'm gonna hug you so hard you'll never forget me again!"

"You're crushing my pancreas," groaned Strix.

Amity turned to leave. She opened the door, gave Luz, Strix and Willow a small wave goodbye and was about to leave when Willow stopped her. "I remember what you did too. What you did in there...I can't say we're friends, but it's...a start." Amity nodded and with that, she left. Willow turned to Luz and Strix. "I have two questions. First, how did Amity happen to see that photo in class?"

Luz chuckled. "You said nothing about shenanigans..."

"Second, why do I have a black eye?"

"I don't like people tugging on my wings like that," said Strix.

Amity smiled as she walked by Gus, who by now was regretting conducting this interview with Hooty. "My first word was hoot, my second word was Hooty hoot, my third word-"

Gus was starting to go crazy. "You gotta stay on track here, buddy!"

"There's a song I wrote! Bored bored bored, bored bored bored."

"I can't take this anymore!" Hey, that rhymed!

"Hoot hoot, somewhere else a hoot hoot, Hooty hoot hoot!"

As she walked the path that led back to Bonesborough, Amity stopped for a moment to let her butterfly invitation fly away. Never again. Never again would she let herself hurt Willow. Ever.
