I do not own Suzanne Collin's The Hunger Games characters.

Sorry that it has been so long. I haven't had much time to write and this is probably more the speed that these chapters will be coming at. While I wish that I could get them up sooner, I have had a lot going on lately. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this chapter.

Chapter 6:

Cato rushes me inside his house quickly, walking past his parents as quickly as he can. I struggle to keep up with him and when we reach the large staircase, he picks me up and carries me bridal style. I expect him to put me down when we reach the top, but he continues to carry me until we reach a large room at the end of the hallway. The walls of the room are navy blue and are bare of anything. A large bed lays in the middle of the far wall. There are a closet and a door that I can see opens up to a bathroom but nothing else really. He tosses me gently on his bed and then locks the door to his room.

"Damnit," I hear him mutter under his breath. I open my mouth to say something, but I am not sure what to say.

He walks over to me and sits down on the bed. He has barely say down when someone knocks on the door.

"Cato, let me in!" A loud voice says.

He sighs to me and then gets up and reluctantly opens the door. The man from outside walks into the room without a second word. He walks directly over to me and I cower slightly. When I realize what I am doing, I sit up straighter.

"You are Cato's girlfriend," The man, who I presume is his father, says. I open my mouth to protest it, but the man reaches for my hand. His stern gaze intimidates me, so I just reach out and shake his hand.

"I'm Clove," I respond. My voice is kind of quiet so I clear my throat to make it seem like I had something in it.

"I'm Cato's father." His father turns to Cato, gives him a small thumbs-up, and then leaves and closes the door. Cato locks the door again and sits down next to me.

I let out a laugh of surprise.

"Why does your dad think I am your girlfriend?"

Cato runs his hand through his hair-I am suddenly struck by how handsome he is-before responding.

"He asked me a few weeks ago why I never brought any girls home and I told him that the day I did, it would be my girlfriend. I was kind of joking, but I guess he took it a lot more seriously."

"Oh," I say. "I guess he is going to be kind of disappointed that I'm not."

"Unless we don't tell him," Cato says shyly.

"You mean, pretend that we are dating?" I ask skeptically.

"I mean, if you don't want to it's whatever but, I just don't want to let him down," He says it sadly at the end.

"Ok," I say.

He looks up at me in surprise.

"Seriously?"

"Yeah."

The look the comes over Cato's face is one of pure happiness and before I know what is happening, he takes my face in his hand and kisses me squarely on the lips. His lips are warm and slightly rough. My mouth is open with surprise and I feel his tongue slip into my mouth. Despite the fact that my mind is telling me that I am crazy about kissing this boy that I barely know, I find myself rapping my arms around his neck and kissing him back. He tastes like spearmint gum.

I know this chapter was a little shorter, a lot of the ones in this story are probably going to be shorter. What do you think about the fact that Clove and Cato are going to be in a fake relationship? And why do you think that Cato kissed Clove? I hope you all enjoyed.

Stay happy, healthy, and safe,
