I DO NOT OWN THE CHARACTERS IN THIS STORY. ALL OF THE CONTENTS BELONG TO JK ROWLING
Hello! So I just published chapter 1 and I also just finished writing chapter 2. I decided to publish now instead of tomorrow because I might forget (lol). Anyway thanks for reading and leave a comment on what I should improve and what you liked.
Chapter 2: Can't we just talk?
Cho. The only person that ran through Harry's mind as he opened the letter that she had sent him. He was extremely nervous about what he was going to read. It had been only a couple of months since the night of the Third-Task. On that catastrophic night, Cedric Diggory was murdered by Peter Pettigrew and the rebirth of Voldemort occurred in front of a pinned Harry Potter. He had felt bad that Cho had to go through the heartbreak of dying. She was probably thinking that the Boy-Who-Lived deserved to die more than the innocent Cedric. And besides that, Cedric had better qualities than Harry. Cedric was handsome, athletic, popular, and very well educated while Harry was scrawny, not as skilled, and was only known for his scar that he was given when he was a baby. Harry knew Cho deserved better but couldn't face her to tell her. He ignored the thought of telling Cho that and decided to focus on reading the letter.
Harry,
I know this is a sudden letter and I know we haven't said a word to each other ever since the tournament. But, I just wanted to talk...kind of. It's been quite a roller coaster ever since Cedric and all I did during the break was nothing but cry. My parents are concerned about my emotional state but I try to keep out of my business (even though I should let them). But anyway, I decided to write this letter because I noticed it has been keeping me down. I am desperately trying to find how Cedric died but to avail. You are the only person who was with him and well...can you please tell me how it happened? I need the details like how he died, did he think of me, etc. You don't have to put it appropriately, I just want you to say it. Please, I know it might be hard for you to talk about it and it is difficult for me to but write back to me as soon as possible. My owl Quan Yin will be at your window all night waiting for your response. I know I am being a little pushy but please with all my heart, just tell me how he died. This is the only way I can heal and hopefully, it can heal you too. Oh and yeah I heard about it being your birthday, Happy Birthday Harry Potter. I know this is the worst way to say it but it's best to say it now, am I right? Please get back to me as soon as possible.
Scincelry,
Cho Chang
The boy sighed and looked down at his twisting fingers. He never talked about Cedric ever since the night of the Third-Task, but it made his stomach turn at the fact out of all people, Cho had to ask about what happened. He looked over to Cho's owl Quan Yin and he started to pet the friendly grey owl.
"I know, it must suck to stay here with me right?" he said to the owl who hooted in response.
Harry gave a deep thought in his mind and after a minute or so of deciding, he decided to write Cho back. He took out a piece of parchment and quill and began writing to her. It took him nearly an hour or so to finish and a pile of crumpled parchment surrounded his floor. Finally, it was 3:25 am and he tied the letter to Quan Yin and sent the owl on his way. He finally laid flat on his bed and closed his eyes.
On the other side of London, Cho was sitting on her bed reading the latest wizarding magazine The Quibbler. Cho's bed was right next to the window which overlooked Diagon Alley. From her perspective, the young Ravenclaw can see the various stores like Gringotts Bank, Ollivander's Wand Shop, The Leaky Cauldron, and much more. It gave her a fresh and relaxing mind knowing that the London skyline was right in front of her.
Cho's mother opened the door quietly and knocked. "Cho we're gonna need you tomorrow in the shop, it's gonna be a busy day." Cho looked at her mother waiting for an answer and with a nod, she said with a whisper "Okay." She then looked away and began to read the Quibbler like she previously did. Her mother looked concerned and with a sigh, she walked up to her daughter.
"Cho...It's about time we talked about what happened at school."
Her daughter looked back at her nervous looking mother and still held her magazine open.
"Mom I'm fine."
"You don't look fine. You stayed in your room for the entire break and you rarely helped me and your father down at the shop."
"I know, but I am okay. It's just that...I'm trying to forget what happened. But it's okay."
Lotus Chang looked at her daughter and finally spoke after a minute of silence. "Well alright...but if you ever feel the need to speak up, you can dear. And please, go to bed it's late"
Cho nodded, her mother nodded back and closed her bedroom door. Cho was left alone, both physically and emotionally. Things changed ever since Cedric's death but as time passed by, Cho began to believe that she was okay, or so she thought. Cho gave a deep sigh and was about to go back into reading when she then noticed that Quan Yin was about to land on her window. Cho quickly opened her window to let her pet owl settle down. As the messenger perched onto the window, Cho started to pet her owl as a way to show thank you. Cho noticed the letter tied to Quan Yin's led and she gave a slight smile, she knew it was from Harry Potter. She untied the letter and sent Quan Yin to her cage. The nervous girl gave a deep exhale and began to open the letter. She unfolded the paper and began to read.
Dear Cho,
First of all, thank you for the birthday wish, it means a lot coming from a person like you.
Cho formed a grin on her face. She hadn't expected to get a response like that from a simple birthday wish. She then continued to read Harry's letter.
Anyway, I know you are desperately trying to figure out what happened to Cedric and thinking about it, I haven't told anyone what happened other than Dumbledore and the Diggory family. Other than that, there was no one else I talked to about it. Since you asked, I feel like you are the person who should know about it.
Cho took a second to breathe and prepared herself for what she was about to read. "Well, here it goes…" she said to herself. She looked back at the letter and began once again.
Cedric and I were transported to a graveyard after we both touched the trophy. We didn't recognize the place and he realized that the trophy was a transportation key. We then started to look around trying to figure out where we were but to conclusion. I noticed that there was a large tombstone that belonged to Tom Riddle and I told Cedric to get back the cup. And all of a sudden, someone came from a door holding something in their arms. The scar on my head started to burn. It felt like someone lit me on fire. Cedric asked if I was okay. But I told him once again to run. Being the rebel he is, he decided to defend me, asking who the strange man was. At that moment, all I heard was the killing curse being yelled out, and Cedric's body being flown into the air. He was dead. Look, this may be hard for you to read but, everything happened so fast, we didn't have much time to talk about anything else other than getting out of the maze.
Look, Cho, I'm sorry for what happened to Cedric and I can't even imagine the amount of pain you are going through. If I could switch places with Cedric, I would do it. Remember, you can always talk to me, or write in this case. We both can get through this together. Hope to see you soon and please take care of yourself. I don't wanna see you at school looking miserable.
Sincerely,
Harry Potter
