Chapter 4: Lost Boy
Punch after punch, Harry didn't want to stop. He wanted to make sure every punch meant something and that it would sink into his cousin. Blood started to pour out Dudley's nose and mouth. Harry could feel the adrenaline and relief that was coming out of his body and at the same time, tears poured down his face. Meanwhile, Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia tried to push Harry back. Eventually, they succeeded and Harry was pushed to the ground. Aunt Petunia held her son to her chest hoping that it would comfort him. As for Vernon, he grabbed Harry by his shirt and began yelling at him,
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND! YOU HAVE DONE IT THIS TIME POTTER!"
Vernon swang the back of his hand across Harry's face. The sound of the slap can be heard across the house. As Harry was about to crash on the floor, Uncle Vernon caught a fist full of Harry's shirt and began to drag him out of the room. The helpless boy tried to kick his way out and yelled "LET GO!" but to avail. Harry could tell by his Uncles face, that he was about to explode and probably kill Harry. As he was dragged up to the stairs, and into his room, Uncle Vernon almost launched Harry across the room and began shouting at him.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!"
Harry was able to pick himself up and straighten himself.
"He deserved it!" Harry yelled.
"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO PUNCH MY SON!" Vernon tried to catch his breath and finally spoke once again. "YOU KNOW WHAT, YOU CAN STAY IN THIS ROOM FOR THE REST OF YOUR SUMMER!" With that answer, Vernon slammed the door and locked it so Harry couldn't escape. His emerald eyes and red face looked fierce and for the next hour, Harry would walk around his room punching his wall in the hopes of it cooling him down.
Eventually, he did and with that, Harry sat on his bed. He glanced over to the pile of letters and scuffled through it to find Cho's. Harry remembered that Cho's family owned a Herbology shop in Diagon Alley and that they lived above it. Harry gave himself a minute to think. Finally, he jumped to his feet and began packing his clothes, books, and other essentials. After he closed his trunk, he opened Hedwig's cage and opened the window. "Go to Cho's bedroom," he whispered. As the snow-white owl flew away, Harry threw his trunk out the window and began to climb down.
On the way down, Harry hit the various bricks that held the house. He felt the pain but didn't mind. When he finally got to the bottom, he picked up his trunk and began walking at a fast pace. In the hopes of his relatives not seeing him, he began to run. Faster and faster, the lost boy ran as fast he could while trying to keep up with the weight of his luggage. The weight, however, caught up to him and Harry finally stopped. He decided to sit on a bench near the park and began to wait. There was a certain he was waiting for. With the flash of his eye, the Knight Bus appeared and Harry gave a relief sound. Stan the Conductor hopped off the bus and greeted Harry.
"Well looky here, if it isn't Harry Potter."
Harry looked confused. He never said his name was Harry.
"I'm Neville Longbo-"
"Oh don't try and fool me again, I can tell by your scar."
"Ohhh…."
The two stared at each other for a few moments and finally, Stan broke the silence.
"Well come on then. Where are you heading off to?" Stan asked with a questioned face.
As Stan carried Harry's trunk into the bus, Harry spoke up and with no expression, he said "Diagon Alley."
Cho's time to leave had come, and her Grandma gave her a nod to leave. Cho picked up the sack of plants and headed out the door. The sky looked as beautiful then Cho could have imagined. Diagon Alley was still very much alive and shoppers passed by the various stores that were open. It seems like many of the shoppers were adults. Cho thought this would happen. The supplies for the next school year haven't been shipped and stocked yet, so not many students would be here. As she made her way down the street, she eventually passed the Leaky Cauldron.
As she entered, Cho could smell liquor and stew that was scattered across the entire place. Looking around the building, Cho finally found the customer. It looked to be a tall, long face, Irish women. "Just as Granny described her," Cho thought. She approached the women who seemed to be having a cup of tea. As the customer looked up, Cho spoke.
"Umm...are you Mrs. Lynch?"
The Irish women spoke up with a heavy accent. "Most certainly I am. You must be the Changs daughter."
"Yes ma'am."
"Well I must say, I didn't expect this to happen." The strange women giggled with Cho who was confused about what was happening. Cho spoke up and asked, "What do you mean?"
"You look exactly like your mother." said the Women and glared at Cho from head to toe.
"You knew my mother? How?"
"I helped her escape China you know."
Cho's eyes widened and she stood their shocked. For many moments, she finally gathered herself and spoke once again. "She never told me about that. Can you tell me how?"
"I'm afraid I am short on time my dear, maybe ask your mother when you get back. Now how much do I owe." Cho sighed in disappointment but began to exchange the deal. The Irish lady smiled at Cho and walked out the front door of the Leaky Cauldron.
Cho made her way back to the shop still trying to process what had just happened. Never before, did Cho's mother tell her about escaping China. But why? What were they escaping from? She tried to hold these questions off once she entered the shop. Her grandma caught Cho and asked. "How did it go?" Cho looked back and answered. "It went well...oh here's the money granny." Cho handed her grandmother the money and she proceeds to walk up to her room.
The door to Cho's room opened and as she walked in, she noticed Hedwig perched on the window. Cho walked over to the white owl to find no note attached to the leg. "Why would he send me nothing? Maybe it's a mistake." Cho gave Hedwig some food and talked to the owl. "Hedwig, this is a mistake, you can go back to Harry now." When Cho said this, however, Hedwig didn't move at all. With a confused look at the owl's reaction. "Hedwig, you can go." The owl did nothing but a hoot. Cho once again was confused. She was about to speak again but the sound of her mother calling her can be heard. "Cho, someone's hear to see you!" Mrs. Chang yelled. Cho responded back and looked at Hedwig. "Coming Mom!"
Stepping out of the room, Cho hoped that when she came back, Hedwig would be gone. The Ravenclaw made her way down to the shop and once at the bottom, her face stood in shock. At the entrance of the door, the person standing there dropped their luggage and made immediate eye contact with Cho. The shocked girl walked towards the visitor and with no hesitation, she wrapped her arms around them. Smelling the faint scent of hair and seeing the emerald eyes when pulling back, Cho Chang and Harry Potter were now inches apart.
That's a wrap for chapter 4. I'm deciding to make this story a complete trilogy so look forward to that for the new year to start. Anyway, what do you think Harry and Cho will do since they are in the same place? Let me know! Remember to comment on things you like and things I should improve. With that I'll see you guys in the next chapter (it might release on Thursday).
