Chapter 5: Starting Point

~10 minutes earlier~

Walking down Diagon Alley, Harry had the chance to look around the different shops that were open. He was thinking of going to the Leaky Cauldron first to grab something to eat but, he decided to get to his destination first. Many people who passed by, stared at Harry. Simply because he was the Boy-Who-Lived and he witnessed Cedric Diggory die last year. He ignored them however and continued to walk.

Eventually, Harry stopped at the front door of "Chang's Herbs and Supply." Taking a deep breath, Harry proceeds into the shop. Looking inside, the smell of fresh soil and plants can be everywhere. Different types of plants would be sectioned into different tables depending on the category and tools were hung on the wall for those looking to purchase. Harry was simply amazed by the place.

"Can I help you, young man?" a voice interrupted.

Harry looked to the right of him and noticed a white and skinny woman staring at him. She had little wrinkles on her face and a few white hair strands. Harry was able to snap back to reality when the question was asked and proceed to speak.

"Oh yes...um...I'm here to see someone."

When Harry ended his sentence, the woman's eyes widened. Harry began to look confused as to why the face suddenly changed. "Your Harry Potter!" said the woman. Harry sighed relief and nodded. "It's good to have you here Mr. Potter, I'm Lotus Chang." Mrs. Chang began shaking Harry's hand. Smiling a bit, Harry was pleased to meet Cho's mom. The handshake finally ended and Mrs. Chang began the conversation once again.

"Are you here to buy something?"

"Oh no, I'm here to see Cho Chang. I presume she's your daughter."

"Yes she is, I'll call for her."

Mrs. Chang began to call Cho's name and Harry started to feel butterflies forming in his stomach. He never told anyone this but, he had a crush on Cho since they first met in Harry's third year. He remembers seeing her fly, her raven black hair was flowing and her seeking skills were impressive. Almost better than Harry's. Cho was able to surpass Harry to the snitch but never really got in the end. However, Harry was incredibly impressed by a girl who can ride a broom, especially with a slow Comet 260.

Footsteps can be heard from the stairs, and Harry became more and more nervous as each step grew closer. Finally, Harry came across Cho, her hair hung behind her shoulders. It seemed that she cut her hair into bangs. This feature made Harry blush pink. Seeing the shocked expression on Cho's face, she began running to him, and with open arms, they hugged. Harry felt Cho's arm tight, and this can only bring Harry to a smile.

When the pair finally let go of each other, Cho stared deep into Harry's emerald eyes. To her, it was Harry's best feature and the part that made Cho excited. Slowly, she began to blush. Pink formed and Harry grinned at the sight of this. Harry also noticed that Cho was holding both of his hands into her own. After Cho stared into him deeply, she finally began to speak.

"Harry...why are you here…?"

"Oh….um…..I just wanted to say hi."

Harry's original plan was to ask Cho if he can stay at her house until school began. But he was too embarrassed to ask even in front of her whole family.

"And I also was going to stay at the Leaky Cauldron. Well at least until school starts anyway." Harry said. Embarrassment struck across his face. That moment, Mr. Chang walked into the room and greeted Harry.

"Ah, Mr. Potter! It's nice to finally meet you. Names Jason Chang, I'm Cho's father."

Harry shook the man's hand and smiled. The butterflies grew bigger and bigger. "What brings you to the shop?" asked questionably Mr. Chang. Harry then began to tell him that he was only stopping by to say hi.

"I'm just here to say hi, and I was going to move into the Leaky Cauldron rooms...well at least until school starts."

Mr. Chang began to laugh at Harry. Confusion once again took Harry and didn't understand what was happening. "Nonsense! You can stay here with us. We have a guest bedroom upstairs, and you don't have to pay!" Mr. Chang said. "Really? Why?" asked Harry. "Well, it's safer for you to stay here than alone in the Cauldron. Plus, any friend of Cho's is a friend of ours!"

Harry began to bring a bright smile to his face and looking over to Cho, it looks like that her cheeks were bubblegum pink. Cho began to smile as well when she noticed Harry. "Cho can help you to your room. And a reminder that dinner is at 7, we're having roasted duck and fried rice," said Mrs. Chang. Harry lifted his trunk and followed Cho upstairs to the guest bedroom.

Cho opened the door to Harry's new room and began to open the curtains. It was already 5:00 pm so the sun was about to set. Still, Harry noticed Cho from the back and down, which made him blush. It's been nearly a month since they've seen each other and the last time they spoke to each other was on top of the owlery. Both of them can remember the embarrassment that occurred on top. Harry tried to ask Cho to the Yule Ball, but unfortunately, Cedric asked her days before.

When Harry set down his trunk at the foot of the bed, he noticed that Cho was playing with her fingers and had her head down. Harry knew this would be awkward but he decided that he would try to fix things with Cho. "I'll let you know when dinner is ready…" whispered Cho. Harry nodded. Cho began to walk towards the door and closed it softly. Harry sighed and began to unpack his clothes.

Silently, Cho walked to her room with her head down. To her convenience, the guest bedroom was right next to Cho's room so it wasn't a far walk. To Harry, it seemed like she was embarrassed and scared that he was staying but really, Cho felt something deep inside. Ever since Harry came to Hogwarts, Cho and her friends would silently talk about him in their dorms. They would talk about how cute he was or what would happen if one of them befriended Harry.

In reality, they just liked Harry because of how famous he was and what would happen if one of them were to become Mrs. Potter. Will they become famous too? Will they become rich? No one really knew but they liked to think about it. Cho on the other hand liked Harry because of his eyes, cheeks, hair, and any feature about him. She didn't really care that he was the Boy-Who-Lived. Throughout the following years, Cho fancied Harry for the things he did. Every time there was a mystery at Hogwarts, she always believed that Harry was in the middle of it (along with Hermione and Ron).

As Cho closed her bedroom door, she stood there silently. The minutes began to pass and yet, she was playing with her fingers. Finally, Cho began to smile, and just like that she jumped to the air and gave a shriek. When she landed back on her feet, she began to spin around her room out of pure excitement and thought to herself "Harry Potter is staying here...with me!" For the first time, in a long time, she was truly happy. Ever since Cedric, she has been in pure misery. Lying to her parents became common but she did it to isolate herself from everyone. The pure thought of her and Harry connecting and healing together after that fateful night ran through the mind of Cho.

Hours had passed since Harry arrived, and it was finally time for dinner. Harry has spent his time settling in and Cho has spent her time working at the register but thinking of Harry at the same time. Mr. Chang closed the store at around 7:30 pm and Mrs. Chang and Granny Li were setting the table. Cho and Harry walked to the dining room together and Harry's eyes grew wide at the sight of the table. Roasted duck sat in the middle along with fried rice, mixed vegetables, drinks, and others beside it. They all began to dig into the feast and Harry actually enjoyed himself for the first time in a while.

Harry got to know everyone in the family and he also talked about himself as well. The topic went from quidditch, how the store started, and Dumbledore. However, Harry glanced over to Cho on the other side of the table and noticed how she was blushing and smiling. "Maybe she's just enjoying dinner." Harry thought. Finally, dinner was over and everyone was full to the limit. Out of the kindness of the family, Harry helped clean the table and wash the dishes. When he was finished, it seems like everyone was off to bed, so he made his way to the bathroom to take a shower.

Passing through the many doors of the house, Harry can tell that everyone was sleeping. Everyone except for Cho. Her door was slightly opened and a crack can be seen through. Harry realized that he hasn't spoken to Cho since he got here so he wanted to at least say hi. Before Harry can fully open the door, his eyes widened and his cheeks became pink. The sight of what he saw made him still. Cho was near her closet changing into her nightgown. Her skin was exposed and the only thing covering her was her black bra and underwear. Harry couldn't help but blush and watch. He was able to snap out of it and simply waited until Cho finished.

When she was finished, Harry knocked on the door and said "May I come in?" Cho grew nervous but opened the door for Harry. As he stepped into Cho's room, they instantly made eye contact. They stood silent for a while but Cho finally broke it and began to speak. "Um...hi…..Harry." Cho's Scottish accent made Harry blush once again. Her accent always made Harry happy, for some odd reason, Harry couldn't help but smile at her every time she spoke.

"I just wanted to say hi…and thank you for letting me stay," Harry said.

"It's nothing really, I just suppose it was only right since You-Know-Who is back and all. You would be safer here. And anyway, I'm glad that you're here. We haven't spoken since the day at the Owlery. I remember you asked me to the Yule Ball...and I said no…"

"Yeah, I remember…..Look I'm sorry for asking you...I should have known that you were going with Cedric." Harry said softly.

"Don't be sorry!" she yelled. "I would have said yes to you if Cedric didn't ask me first…."

They once again stood in silence. Cho noticed that Harry had a shocked expression on his face. Probably from when she said she would have gone with him.

"I still have nightmares from that night. I wish I listened to Cedric and took the cup. If I did, he wouldn't be gone...and you two would have been together."

"You don't have to say that Harry, sure Cedric died and all but, a broken heart always becomes new," whispered Cho.

Harry had noticed that Cho was holding his fingers. Nervousness quickly filled his body. "Well goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow," said Harry quickly. He took his hand back and walked out the door and closed it. Before Cho could say anything, her head went down. "I didn't even say goodnight back to him," she said to herself. As she laid in bed that night, she looked into the moon and the many stars around it. She was thinking of Harry, and thought to herself, "Everything has a starting point I suppose."

DAMN HARRY KINDA SUS THO. But really, thanks for reading. I promise the next chapter Harry and Cho will get along and maybe something might happen...Anyway, Diagon Alley's chapter will happen soon and we'll meet Ron and Hermione. Do you think Harry and Cho will be happy in the end? Remember to review and tell me the things you like and what I should improve. SEE YOU NEXT TIME!
