A/N: One thing I wish GG had done is dive deeper into how April's presence hurts Rory. I know people argue Luke shouldn't be called her dad and Christopher is her father wheather we like it or not, which I disagree with as family is love more than blood. Rory was the only child Luke liked for so many years, he was a huge part of her life and even though some people say Rory thought og him as nothing more than the man in the diner I think she truly always loved him as a father figure, epecially as she got older and they got closer and she drifted away from Chris, this is what I am trying to show in this chapter. Please no fighting if it annoys you when people call Luke her dad over Christopher that is yoor opinion and I am entitled to mine. Thanks.

Chapter Four
Lorelai was sitting at the kitchen table with Christopher and GG when she suddenly heard a car pull up outside, she jumped up and looked out the kitchen window.
"IT´S RORY" she shouted as she ran as fast as she could out the front door, Rory had barely stepped out the car door when Lorelai grabbed her and pulled her into a hug.
"Mum" Rory shouted hugging her as tightly as she could
"What are you doing here? I thought you were working?" Lorelai asked her as she held her.
"Nothing is happening now, it's quiet, I wanted to surprise you so I didn't tell you," Rory said finally pulling away "How are you?" Rory asked her looking at her mum's face.
"I am fine, why?" Lorelai asked. Rory tilted her head and looked at her. "You just went through the hardest break up of your life," Rory told her, knowing it had hit Lorelai hard.
"I am fine, great, your dad makes me happier than Luke ever did..." Lorelai lied. Rory could tell she was lying but said nothing, she didn't get a chance too because her father walked out then and hugged her. Rory hugged him slightly awkwardly as she still couldn't get her head around the marriage.
"Hey darling, this is a nice surprise," he said
"Yes I have no work for weeks, hey sis," Rory said stroking GG's head before turning to her parents.
"Want to get breakfast?" she asked them "I want to go around town," Rory said.
"I will catch you later, have some work to do at home," Christopher said as Rory and Lorelai left and started making their way through town. It was only as they were in the square Rory remembered they wouldn't be going to Luke's.
"So what's new with you?" Lorelai asked her
"Paris has taken up morning Irish dancing classes, by morning I mean 6 am," Rory told her. Lorelai laughed.
"I would sell my house to see that" Lorelai replied
"Imagine waking up and seeing someone doing this" Rory said as she crossed her arms over her chest and kicked her legs, stepping backwards right into a solid object.
"Sorry I...April?" Rory said as she looked on the ground and saw the girl kneeled on the floor with a magnifying glass in her hands. She stood and smiled at her.
"Hey Rory, when did you get back?" she asked her adjusting her glasses
"10 minutes ago, I am here for a few weeks, how about you?" Rory asked her.
"I am staying with dad for the unforeseeable future, mum married this creep so I came to dad's" April replied "Hi Lorelai," she said waving at her
"Hey kid" Lorelai replied awkwardly. "What you doing there?" Lorelai asked her.
"I am looking for the lycaedes melissa samuelis butterfly, one of the rarest in the world, only a few places of the united states still have them and I read online there is meant to be one in stars hollow, only have another half of the town to go" April replied. Lorelai nodded having no idea what she was talking about.
"April" someone shouted. Luke walked to her and only then realised she was talking to the Gilmore's he cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Sorry...hey Rory!" Luke said thrilled to see the girl he had always seen as a daughter.
"Hey, Luke!" I am back for a few weeks" Rory told him slightly awkwardly because he and Lorelai weren't speaking.
"Fantastic, hopefully, I see you around, but I am sorry I am rushing, April I have to go, I have a meeting with a contractor, don't stay out too late, if you need someone Cesar and Lane are in the diner," he told her.
"Sounds boring" April replied
"Yes there are downsides to having your own business," Luke told her
"Very true" Lorelai replied smiling very slightly at him. He returned the broken smile.
"Right well best be off, don't want to be late," he told her kissing her forehead then leaving. Rory stared at them her heart full of jealously, Luke had always been there for her as a father figure when her dad wasn't around, him having a real daughter hurt her way more than she thought it would and she didn't know why.
"See you April, good luck finding that bug, I need to go see my friends," she told her before grabbing Lorelai's arm and dragging her away, Lorelai looked at her confused, which soon turned to shock.
"Honey...you are crying," Lorelai said as she saw the tears fall down her face, Lorelai put her arm around her. "What's wrong?" Lorelai asked her.
"I don't know...Luke has just always been there for me, I was his number one kid all them years, the only one he liked properly and now he has his own kid and she's cute and sweet and ...I am an adult now and he doesn't need me now, April gets to have him properly, I guess I feel a little jealous" Rory replied as she sat down on the bench in the gazebo not even knowing why she was crying.
"Hon, no matter what has happened between Luke and I, he loves you and he always will, I know things are awkward but Luke will always be there for you when you need him to be," Lorelai told her hugging her as she cried.
"Why do I feel like this? I never really cared much about GG having dad to herself" Rory replied as she sobbed on her shoulder.
"Because you never fully had Christopher hun, not really, when he wasn't there you had Luke, that is the difference," Lorelai told her half crying herself. She missed Luke, she missed seeing Luke and Rory together, she would have given anything to finally have them be stepfather and stepdaughter.
"Luke cares more about you than he does himself, his words, not mine, nothing will change that," Lorelai told her rubbing her back.
"But everything has already changed, I wanted him to be my stepfather so bad" Rory replied as she sighed, wishing she could go back in time before all this mess happened.
