Yo another story that no one asked for :) Btw this my favorite out of V3.

The night was alive with lights and music as the party began to get in full swing. It was a celebration of sorts made by the ultimate students for their success this year at their academy. Most of the students came in groups while others came alone.

One of the loners was Shuichi Saihara, the ultimate detective.

Shuichi stood by the wall as he surveyed the party. He found two familiar faces near the punch stand.

"This party is awful! I knew I should of just stayed home." Ouma said as he poured another glass of grape soda.

"You didn't have to be here you know?" Kaito said to the supreme leader.

"He's lying again like usual." Shuichi said as he walked over to Kaito and Ouma. He was a bit relieved to be in familiar company.

"Curses! You saw through my veil yet again detective! You won't be so lucky next time." Ouma said in a dramatic tone.

"Yeah...sure." He said in a deadpan tone.

"Hey Shuichi you alright? Aren't you stoked to be at this event?" Kaito asked which drawn surprise from the young detective. There was something on his mind but he thought it be best that they didn't know. He didn't want to sour their mood.

"I'm just a bit tired, a couple of tough cases had me working last night."

"You mean the case of the missing school pet beetle? Sorry about that one." Ouma said with a small chuckle.

"You didn't do it. I already found the school pet and returned him to Gonta. It was literally resting in the bathroom."

"You ever realize how much of a buzzkill you are?" He responded.

This was when the supreme leader heard a sound that was music to his ears. The sounds of fatigue from his favorite magician who just arrived to the party.

"Welp, it seems my target has arrived. I'll catch up with you guys later." He said as he quickly fled, leaving behind the detective and the astronaut.

"Here he goes again. I should probably keep an eye on him before he does something stupid." Shuichi said but was stopped by Kaito.

"C'mon my friend. It's the final party of the school year! It's the time to where we just drop our cares and enjoy ourselves for once. You've been working hard so you deserve it."

Kaito saw that his words weren't reaching his friend. A girl with a musical note in her hair caught all of his attention. Kaito closed the distance as he put an arm around the sleuth's shoulder.

"Look... I know stuff hasn't been so great between you and Kaede but you need to let go, holding onto to it will just make it worse." Kaito explained as he passed him a drink.

"I know." He said as he took a long sip of his punch.

The relationship between the pianist and the detective was a rocky one due to many hardships and miscommunication. It got to the point to where they don't even talk anymore.

"So how is Maki doing?" He said to get the focus off him.

"Maki roll is still deadly as ever! She's coming a little late cause of some special mission so I got some time to spare... Now, to help you out."

"Help me? With what?"

Shuichi noticed that Kaito's look of concern turned into a look of glee. He was about to question him but he quickly cut him off.

"Maybe you're right, I'm gonna go find Ouma just in case something happens. You stay here and enjoy yourself my friend." He said as disappeared into the crowd without looking back.

Shuichi thought that he saw Maki and used an excuse to part ways. He didn't mind it, he preferred to be by himself at the moment.

He took an empty seat and scanned the room of the partygoers. All of them shared happy and joyous expressions... except for one.

He stopped on a modest looking girl with long, blue hair and spectacles that was seated way across from him. It seemed that she was looking at him before she averted her gaze to the table. He noticed her expression wasn't similar to the rest of the crowd.

She seemed alone.

He continued to scan the room until he landed back on her again. They shared eye contact before she quickly looked at the table again.

He wondered is this was actually real.

He knew little about this girl but she was peeking his interest. He found himself walking through the crowd until he was able to reach her.

He found himself just a couple steps away from her.

The music blared as they waited for one another to break the ice. Shuichi pondered on what his next move should be.

He could feel that she was a bit tense, maybe a compliment could lighten her mood.

"I like your dress. It certainly suits you." He said.

She flashed a small smile towards him. He felt the tension ease as she shared eye contact with him. Maybe she will be less resistant to his questions now.

"So how's the party for you?" He asked.

"I'm not really use to these scenes but Angie said it was Atua's will for us to go. I'm still finding a way to enjoy myself so it's not that bad."

He noted that as he slowly pulled up a chair. He found himself analyzing her a bit more than he anticipated. There was just something that kept him interested in her.

"May I take a seat?"

"Sure." She said as she fixed her glasses. He sat down across from her and introduced himself.

"Oh my manners. My name is-"

"Shuichi Saihara, the ultimate detective I presume?" She finished for him. He had a face of shock which caused her to giggle.

"You're well known for your work outside of school. I'm amazed by your analytical skills and abilities of deduction. You're like those detectives I see in the anime."

He could feel a small smile tugging at his mouth.

" Thank you. So who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

"My name is Tsumugi Shirogane, Ultimate cosplayer. It's nice to meet you."

He recognized that name. She was on the list for one of their school plays. She organized the costume for the actors.

"Oh, I believe I've seen your work during one of our plays. Your costumes are certainly beautiful along with the realism they seem."

"Thank you... I didn't think anybody would notice." She said with a small blush.

The party slowly began to quiet down as the two students engaged in conversation. He could feel the time move faster with each word that they shared. He couldn't remember the last time he actually had a nice conversation.

"So that's how you found our school pet."

"It was a bit of a hassle but it was worth it. I never want to see Gonta sad."

"As would I... So how is the party to you? You seem down by something if you don't mind me asking." She asked which caught him by surprise.

"Just a couple of rough cases is all." He plainly stated, hoping to satisfy her curiosity.

"They do sound perplexing but I'm sure you'll solve them. You are a talented detective along with being a wonderful person to talk too. You made my time at this party even better."

He sighed at that which she didn't notice.

'Yet I can't solve my own problems.'

Shuichi thought as he snuck a peek at the Kaede who didn't even glance his way. None of the cases and puzzles he has encountered were like his relationship with her. He just couldn't find an answer for it.

"Shuichi?"

He was knocked out of his thoughts by the girl right in front of him. The same girl that actually gave him her attention along with great conversation.

A real conversation.

"My apologies."

"No worries. I'm sure you have more important matters to deal with." She said as she began to depart.

"...Can I get your number?"

He never thought he would use those words ever again. He wanted to see if the true answer was right in front of him.

"...Sure." She took out a small piece of paper and wrote some numbers down along with her name. When she handed him the small note, she left with a smile.

He held the note in his hand and opened its contents.

"That's how you do it my friend!"

Shuichi jumped a bit as he felt a familiar arm around his shoulder.

"Kaito? I thought you were with Ouma."

The astronaut chuckled a bit before he answered.

"I did that so you could make some progress. It was the glasses wasn't it? Naw, probably the hair. You sure know how to pick them Shuichi."

Shuichi finally figured out his plan.

"You left so I could get closer with that girl? How did you know?"

He nodded his head as he flashed a smile.

"I'm a genius when it comes to the girls. She was staring at you the whole time but you were to distracted by Kaede. It was sneaky but it worked! I see you got her number too. You must've really hit off." He commended him.

"I... don't really know Tsumugi like that though. Besides, I couldn't stop thinking about Kaede." He said with a bit of doubt.

"See? You're using her first name already. Just wait until Ouma sees this."

As if spoken into existence, the little leader latched himself onto the back of Shuichi with tears in his eyes.

"You're cheating on me Shuichi!? How could you!?"

"We're not together Ouma and you know that." He plainly said.

"I DONT EVEN KNOW YOU ANYMORE!" He said as began to bawl loudly which the two ignored.

"Shuichi, it's clear that the thing between you and Kaede is messing with you too much. You need a distraction from it." Kaito explained. Shuichi understood but he still wasn't fully convinced.

"But what if it happens again?"

"You tried at least which is the most important thing."

"I have to agree with moon pie over here. She actually payed attention to you." Ouma added.

"You we're watching too?" He asked.

"No, but from your reaction it seems she did." He said as he giggled a bit.

Shuichi finally made his choice as he pocketed the small piece of paper.

So other stories in the works. Ight my guys.
