The semester's over, I have the week off of work and am currently recovering from an eye surgery. So I'm bored and blind at the moment with too much time on my hands. Let me know what you think and hopefully I'll upload this for a couple of chapters.
Again, actually blind right now, so I can't be bothered to fully proof read, so yes, there's mistakes. Look past them.
"Potter! In my office! Now!"
Gletcher whistled lowly. At the sudden shout that rang over the dimly lit room of cubicals.
"What the hell did you do this time, Potter?" Gretchen whispered from two cubicals to her left.
Shrugging absently, she stood from her seat, ignoring the pointed stares from around the office she was suddenly garnering thanks to Bagley's loud demands.
Brushing off the sudden chill that ran down her spine, Sasha went to her supervisors still open office door.
She really hoped this wasn't another mark up on her performance. There was only so much her name could carry over before she was on the brink of being sacked. Frankly she'd been sitting on that line for the last two months already.
Taking as deep a breath as propriety would allow, she closed the door behind her.
Benjamin Bagley sat stiffly in his chair, dark eyes absolutely soulless as he stared her down, thick mustache almost fluttering with each breath he himself took.
It was his tight grip on the large stack of paperwork that had her well maintained panic suddenly skyrocketing.
"Sit Potter. Now." He growled, voice as gravelly as his haiar was grey.
Taking a slow seat on the only available chair, she kept her posture stiff, back straight and shoulders pulled back.
Bagley's scowl deepened at the no doubt slow progress of her motions.
"anyday now girl!" he barke, grip on the papers making his already white knuckeles buldge.
She held in a grimace. It was always a bad sign when the veins in his knuckled decided to dance.
"Against my judgement and recommendation, you've been assigned a case." He growled, eyes narrowing, daring her to make any sudden movements.
She kept still, face as perfectly blank as it always was.
"Due to your…particular set of skills," he all but spat, "yuou've been hand selected by the Head of the Department fo this assignment." His face seemed to darken despite his pale pallor. "Your record and transgressions were brought to his attention as well as our third party's." he grimaced. "But was overlooked in facor of your assets. So that being said, step one tow out of line – listen to be Potter!" he barked loudly despite her gaze not wavering. "By Godric, if you break any regulation, your arse is as good as sacked! Understood?"
She nodded curtly, still remaining stiff in her seat.
The large stack of papers were thrust in her direction roughly.
"this is the assignment, read it 0 all of it – and remember who your representing when doing the job."
She nodded.
"I would've sent out Kahn or even Harwood, but as I said before, the Head of the Department chose you personally, so don't fuck this up."
And with that, the large stack as finally allowed to be in her grasp.
That was her cue to leave at least.
Face still set in a blank state, she nodded and rose from her chair.
She pretended not to hear his scornful mutterings as she left his office.
She also pretended not to notice the curous and envious looks the Aurors that worked his the cubicals near Bagley's office were sending her.
She didn't have to read the packet ot know which case she was being sent on.
It was the cse everyone had been expecting but didn't want ot think was still open.
Death Eater sightings were becoming far too common across the countryside and in odd parts of the world.
She'd be stupid to dismiss it as a last ditch attempt at power or credibility so many year s afte the war ended.
Strange things had been happening across a handful of States and MACUSA was holding the Ministry responsible due to who was plaging the area.
A few teams had been dispatched already, but nothing had actually come of it so far. So it had been a joint decision between the Canadian and British Minister of Magic and the President of MACUSA to have several dispatch teams curated for each designated area of intent that seemed to be targeted.
Everyone had been expecting Jamie Kahn or even Hector Haywood to be put in fo the case. Not her.
Definitely not her.
Three quarters of the Office couldn't even dtrust her not to crucio them half the time, much less put her in for such a…high profitle assignment.
Harry and Kingsley seemed to have other ideas.
