We spent the ten days doing absolutely everything together. We were totally alone so Maxon was fine going swimming here. The ocean was absolutely beautiful, especially during the sunset. The sun reflected off of the water in a way that I had never seen before. When Maxon took me swimming that night, my heart was bursting with happiness and love. My favorite night the whole week was the night Maxon surprised me with a candle lit dinner on the beach. It was absolutely beautiful. There were pillows covering an area for us to sit on with the candles along with roses all around us. After we ate the scrumptious meal, we cuddled on the pillows, looked at the stars, and talked for hours. I wanted to capture that moment and just stay with it forever.
Alas, it was all too soon that Maxon and I were departing from our hidden bungalow. He wrapped his arms around me and we stood embracing each other staring at the ocean one last time.
"I think," Maxon started, "that we should make a bi-yearly trip to this place. This was magical and made me even more in love with you." He planted a kiss on top of my head.
"That sounds like a good plan." I responded. "But for now, I have to figure out how I will be queen. We have a country to run and I'm sure with me ruling it will go down in flames."
Maxon looked at me. "No, I don't think it will. Well it could. But I won't let it happen. It would look bad for my reputation." I smacked him on the arm.
"Oh shut up, Maxon. Well, let's go get back to that country that I shall burn down."
After the flight home, we were greeted by tons of photographers and fans of ours wanted pictures, autographs and hugs. Maxon wasn't very hands-on with his people yet, but he was learning. We interacted with them for a little bit before we had to head back to our home. Our home. I didn't call it the palace. I called it my home. I wondered in my head. It was still standing surprisingly when we got there. Okay maybe things were going okay.
It was only mid-afternoon so that meant we had to do some work before we could settle in for the night. I went to Maxon's study with him so that we could have a conversation with Stavros to see how things were going and to catch up on things.
"Everything was smooth while you were gone. The King and Queen of Italy want to set up a meeting to make a new trade deal, that's scheduled for Friday, we got the last of the troops from New Asia on a flight here. They left about an hour ago so they will arrive shortly. There's also a budget meeting tomorrow to discuss a few things with a couple of the provinces, the mayor of Whites will be there. Other than that, I have nothing to report."
"Thank you, Stavros. You're free to go." My husband dismissed him. It was then I saw the pictures from our wedding on his desk. There were two that were framed. One staged of us cuddling, and another of us during our first dance. "So i was thinking," Maxon went on, jarring me from my thoughts, "I want to see you all the time. I hate that you have a different study than me. What if you moved your stuff into here?"
"I think that's a fantastic idea. One thing though. Don't get too distracted. We have to keep Illéa running." Maxon smiled at me then called some guards to start moving my desk and filing cabinets into his study.
Maxon and I worked well into the evening. Before we knew it, it was 8 o'clock and we had yet to eat dinner. I suggested we have pancakes and hang out in bed and Maxon agreed. We ordered our dinner from the kitchens to be sent to our room and we finished up work for a few more minutes before signing off for the day. I changed into a nightgown and Maxon simply stripped to his boxers while we settled into bed for dinner.
"So I was thinking," Maxon said between bites of bacon, "what if we have a monthly dinner here with your family. We don't have to make it a big deal but I know that our responsibilities will get in the way so you won't be able to see them much. This guarantees that you will see them at least once a month."
I tackled him in a hug. "Yes! Yes! Yes! When can we do it? What about the first Saturday of every month? That's this week."
"Anytime works for me, Darling. As long as you keep up with your duties as mine and our country's queen." He started laughing at himself as I started planting kisses all over his face.
"I'm going to start planning tomorrow. Saturday is in three days." We kept talking for a while and we soon went to bed.
The next few days flew by. There were many meetings and I was planning the dinner with my family. Most of the advisors actually seemed to like my ideas. All except for two. When Maxon and I revealed the plan to abolish the castes, they protested. They wanted to stay as advisors, as Ones. Maxon had Aspen promoted and he was now head of security and kept everything running smoothly for us.
On Monday afternoon as Maxon and I were working in our study, Aspen barged into the room. He looked exasperated as he claimed, "We got mail from New Asia. It says 'urgent' so we checked it for anything harmful but it appears safe."
I stood up along with Maxon. "Where is it? Do we need to come check it out?"
"No, no." Aspen said. "A guard is bringing it up right now and should be here any second."
A guard was soon announced and he gave my husband the letter and disappeared behind the double doors of our study. Maxon opened it and read aloud;
"Dear King and Queen Schreave, we are saddened by all the disruption of the war and we are pleased that it hasn't ended. However, we formally invite Your Majesties to our palace to make a new deal to move towards peace for our countries." Maxon looked up at me.
"No." I said loudly. "We can't go there! What if it's a trap? What if they just want to kill us so they can take over the country? We are not going!"
Maxon looked frustrated and Aspen walked out of the door. "America, we have to. We cannot just stay here forever. We have to do what is right for our people, and that would be putting an end to this damned war!"
"But Maxon, I can't lose you! I just got you! Why can't you just talk on the phone and make a treaty here!"
"I can't look like a coward, America! If you're not going, then I have to go alone and start making travel planes."
I huffed. "Fine. Just remember that Illéa lost their king not too long ago, don't let it happen again." And with that, I walked out of the room without looking at his expression.

Authors note: thank you guys so much for reading! I am going to try and update at least once a week but that might not always be possible. I'm still in high school so homework is more of a priority.
Fairysecret01: ahh thank you so much for reading and the reviews!! They make my day:) i think the really cool thing about fan fiction is that we all have our different views about the kids of characters. Like for me I felt like America wouldn't want guards and that Maxon would argue with her. That's why I put a few in there.
Virtue01: thank you! Hope you like his chapter:)
