Sam's thoughts during *that* scene, 15.20

Dean, it's okay. You can go now.

Sam had said the words Dean needed to hear but clings desperately to his brother, willing him to stay, as Dean's hand slips from his own.

Don't leave me, Dean.

Sam feels a gentle sigh upon his cheek…..Dean's final breath as his head slumps against his little brother's shoulder and Sam knows….his hero, the one he'd looked up to ever since he could remember, the one who had raised him, who'd saved him more times than he could count…..his brother, the man who was always larger than life, is gone.

It's been well over a year since I've written any fics but I felt compelled to write something to try and honor the end of a legacy. Whether you loved it or hated it (and I'm not going to debate you over it), you can't deny that Jensen and Jared gave that finale, heck, the whole 15 seasons their heart and soul. I would put that barn scene up against any actors on this planet. It was amazing, devastating, and beautiful, all at the same time. I will never be over the death of my hero, Dean Winchester, but I know he's at peace and he has his little brother by his side. It was always Sam and Dean. Always.
