An: This does not follow the show. This is completely au. There will be somethings I take from the show, but just the basic things. This is mostly going to be my own story. It will focus on Riley/Stiles, but there may be others too further down the road. I haven't completely decided. I may also do spinoffs of this. Maybe have a story for just Fenris. Like I said, I'm not sure. Let me know what you guys thought of this chapter.
Riley had always had a problem with control. He fought with it on a daily basis. It only got worse the closer the full moon came. On the night of the full moon there was no control left in Riley. He liked to say he was cursed. Doomed to live a life of horror. Ever since he was born he was cursed to hell. Cursed to live a life of pain, anger, fear, suffering. It was a hard pill to swallow. Knowing you would never have a normal life. Never have a happy life. His life was paved with the pain of those around him. Others had to suffer for him to even be born. It only seemed right to make him a monster. To make him suffer as much as his family had.
After the fire, Riley didn't feel right staying with his cousins. The guilt, the anger, the pain. It consumed him. More so than it ever did Derek. Riley took to traveling. He was only ten years old when the fire happened, but he didn't let that stop him. He saw the world, educated himself through text books. He met a lot of people over the years. Some were friends others were enemies. But there would always be one man that Riley held in a higher regard. One man that Riley hated beyond belief. One man that Riley would sacrifice everything in order to see to the man's death.
That man was Gerad Argent.
Riley has been hunting him since the fire. Part of the reason he traveled so much was to find that man. He hadn't had any luck. The man was smart, Riley would give him that. He knew how to hide, how to cover his tracks. He knew Riley was hunting him and he knew just how to evade Riley. Riley had come close to catching the man, but everytime he got close the man's trail would disappear. He had multiple people on watch for the man, helping Riley find him, but so far he hasn't had much luck in actually getting to him. He wasn't sure he ever would. He half thought that he'd just spend his entire life hunting a ghost in the wind. That was until Derek called him.
Riley was at the gym, working out his anger and frustrations in his usual way. Beating up the punching bag, picturing the man's face being the thing that he was hitting. Sweat dripped down his body, his heart pounding in his chest, his anger practically radiating from him. Everyone in the gym knew better than to get near Riley when he was this angry. It's part of why he loved this gym. He could punch his fist through a wall and the people could not even blink at it. This gym was for the supernatural only. The perfect place for Riley to let his anger flare.
He didn't even hear his phone ring. His anger consumed everything in him. He almost punched poor Fenris' face in when the guy touched him. "Woah!" Fenris ducks just in the nick of time. Riley panted, staring at his brother with half-crazed eyes. "You okay, Rye?"
"What?" He growls out, his fist clenching by his sides. The two didn't look anything alike. Riley took after… him. He had short blonde hair, bright blue eyes. He was tall with a lean and strong frame. Fenris took more after their mother. Dark crimson hair, bright emerald eyes, pale freckled skin. His body structure weren't from either, however. He was taller, much taller than Riley, and solid with muscle. He was like a brick wall of muscle, but despite looking stronger he was still much weaker than Riley. Appearance was not everything.
"Your phone." Fenris held it out. "It's been ringing for twenty minutes." Riley took the phone and looked down.
"It's Derek."
"You gonna answer it." Riley glances at Fenris for a moment before hitting the answer button and putting it to his phone.
"Yeah?" Riley grunts out, running a hand through his blonde hair.
"Hey, Rye." Derek says. "It's been awhile." Riley balanced the phone between his shoulder and ear as he began to untie his handwraps.
"What do you want?" Riley asks, cutting right to the point. He wasn't much for chit chat.
"You need to come to California." Derek says, causing Riley to roll his eyes. Derek's been trying to get Riley to come back to California for three years now. Ever since Peter woke up.
"Not interested." Riley says, tossing the wraps onto the ground.
"He's here, Riley." Riley pauses, his eyes snapping up to Fenris to see his brother's reaction to this news. Fenris raises an eyebrow, his expression otherwise unreadable.
"He who?"
"Who do you think, Riley. Gerad." Riley felt his breath leave him. Fenris' hands curled up into tight fists, while he slammed his jaw tightly closed and grinded his teeth, anger flashing in his emerald eyes. The twins stared at one another for a minute, an entire conversation being held between them with just their eyes alone.
"I'm on my way." Riley finally says.
"What about Fenris?"
"He's not interested. This my battle, not his. He's heading out to Florida tomorrow. Trying to hit every state." Riley lifts the ropes of the ring and slips out, Fenris right behind him.
"You're not fighting this one your own." Derek says, causing Riley to grin, the grin was dark and twisted, sending a shiver down his brother's spine.
"Watch me." He hangs up, not even giving Derek a chance to respond back. He heads for the locker room, Fenris right on his tail.
"You need to be careful, Riley." He says as they walk into the cold locker room. Other men glanced their way, but Riley ignored them. He walked to his locker, putting in the code. "Riley, I get you're strong, but Gerad…"
"You telling me not to do this?" Riley looks at Fenris. The challenge was clear in his eyes and his tone. Fenris knew better than to challenge Riley on anything.
"Of course not. I know you have to do this, Rye. I just want you to be careful. You have to play this right. Plan this out. Don't just go rushing into this half cocked and filled with anger. You need to think this all through before going for him. Maybe letting Derek and that pack of his help wouldn't be such a bad th-" The sound of Riley smashing his knuckles into his locker, rattling the entire set of lockers, echoed in the room and cut Fenris off.
"This is my fight." Riley says, his voice quiet and steady. "Mine. I will not let someone else take my victory. Anyone who gets in my way will just be a casualty. This is my fight. Mine. No one is going to stand in the way of that. I do not need some bittens getting in my way. This my fight." Fenris swallows, slowly reaching out, cautiously so, and placing a hand on Riley's shoulder.
"I know, Riley." He whispers as if trying to sooth a rabid animal. "I know." Fenris stepped slowly closer. "Just take a deep breath, okay. You know you can't let that anger out. You have to keep him locked up." Riley let out a deep breath. "Just relax, Riley." Fenris rubs Riley's shoulders, causing Riley to sigh and close his eyes. "You will kill Gerad, Riley. There is no doubt in my mind that you will, but it never hurts to have help. The pack in Beacon isn't nearly as weak as you think."
"Which pack? Last I checked there are four packs in Beacon."
"Four? I thought there were three." Fenris says.
"Decuallion moved back. There's also Derek's pack, Satomi's pack, and that kid that Laura turned, McCall something or other." Fenris hums in response."
"Didn't know Emery moved back." Fenris says.
"Mm." Fenris pulled away and Riley grabbed his gym bag.
"You good?"
"Yeah… thanks." Fenris nods.
"Listen, Rye, if you need me… you know I'm just a phone call away."
"I know."
"I just can't go back there… not after everything. I'm moving on without them and without the memories of the past."
"I know." Fenris nods, eyeing Riley over.
"So, we're good?"
"Always." Riley bumps Fenris lightly on the shoulder with his knuckles before making his way to the showers.
"Call if you need me. I'll see you around." Riley waves him off and disappears into the shower room.
Riley showers quickly and get dressed. He doesn't bother saying goodbye to the members of the gym. He didn't much care for anyone really and they were just people to him. No one is important. He had a few friends, all of who lived miles upon miles apart and away from him at the current moment. He'd call them in a few days and tell them what he's been up to.
He makes his way outside to where his car sat. It had belonged to his mother once upon a time. A sleek black Impala with a beige interior with leather seats. It was an older car, from 1976, but it ran like brand new and the engine purred in content when started. There were a lot of memories in this car. Riley moved to the trunk, opening up, lifting up the hidden storage inside, and checked over the contents. He nods when he was sure it was there and he closed the lid once more before tossing his bag inside the trunk and locking it up. He moved to his door, unlocking it, and sliding inside. He took a deep breath, breathing in the scent inside the car. Leather, oil, grease, and polish. He hums at the scent before starting the car. It roared to life before settling down into a content purr.
He backs out of the parking spot and started for California. He was coming. Gerad better watch out because death is coming.
