Chapter 10: The Soldier and the Angel

A few hours have passed since the last screening, Flit had allowed them to return to their homes but none are actually eager to return yet, wanting to see more of alternate universes. He and Aeralyn apologized for the earlier screening but the Faunus members forgave them, not seeing it as their fault. They had some shut eye in the guest room and food as well, before they returned to the screening. In addition, a new audience also arrived, and it was at the form of Team SSSN, who Flit invited to view their alternate selves, something that they agreed on and they were eventually greeted by members of Team RWBY and JNPR in the process, who filled them on what had happened in the previous universes.

"Everyone ready?", Flit asked them as the students nodded.

"What will be the universe this time?", Yang asked.

"This universe is entirely different. It takes place in a world called Gaia where the SDC practically ruled the world.", he exclaimed as the Faunus members grimaced.

"But at this point, the SDC had crumbled through the efforts of AVALANCHE, who disrupted their operations and saved Gaia. But the big bad here is Tyrian Callows, who sought to rule Gaia since he believed that he was the last of a celestial ancient race, but was stopped by Jaune Arc and his friends", Aeralyn continued for Flit.

"Guess Jaune's the main character this time", Yang said, though she inwardly wished she would be the one.

"But in here, two years after SDC had fallen, Jaune sought to find a cure for Oscar, an orphan, who has Geostigma, a disease that Jaune himself also had but without further ado. Let's begin", Aeralyn announced as she pressed the button of the remote.

"The screen shows four individuals riding bikes, one has spiky blond hair who wore a black robe complete with a sleeveless tunic, pants, gloves, and a pauldron on his shoulder with a cloth concealing his left arm. The other three, however have silver hair and wore almost matching black outfits. They were being chased by none other than Jaune himself.

"Wow, Vomit Boy's bike is awesome!", Yang called out with starry eyes. Her classmates were awed at this design, as did some adults

"Is that us?", Weiss exclaimed, recognizing the individuals to be her siblings and herself.

"These three apparently, are the manifestations of Tyrian themselves, or rather literal remnants of their 'brother'. Their task was to bring him and and be one with him with the box, to which its contents carried their answers.", Flit explained as they returned to the screen.

Jaune followed the trio as they raced off, tearing through the streets of Edge. Eventually they reached a long stretch of highway, blocked off by a "Do Not Enter" sign. Weiss paid it no heed and and crashed through the barrier and Jaune ducked to avoid the broken sight post..

"I can't believe my beloved Weiss is grown up here!", Yang remarked while shedding a non-existent tear.

"Shut up! I'm not going to break any roadside rules!", Weiss called out to the blonde.

Winter and Whitley hung back to tackle Jaune in a no holds barred motorcycle free for all. Whitley and Jaune locked blades as Weiss raced off away from the action, holding tight to the box containing Salem's head.

Winter attempted to shoot Jaune twice with her Velvet Nightmare Pistols but the former Mercenary deflected the shots before locking blades with him. Chuckling, Winter pushed Jaune as Whitley raced his bike up and around the curved portion of the road before jumping, and attacked Jaune from above, landing on the front of Jaune's bike. He was quickly thrown off, but landed with ease aboard his own vehicle, as Winter moved in for an assault, gun blazing from her bike.

"Watch out Jaune!", Phyrra called out to her partner.

"Bike riding just went to a whole new level", Blake ushered, awed by their display of fighting beside the road.

Yang meanwhile was keenly watching the screen with stars in her eyes. "Oh, I just hope I can put some upgrades on Bumblebee. And maybe learn those kind of moves!"

Jaune grunted as he was being shot from behind by Winter and Whitley, that is until an SDC helicopter loomed in with the Turks, Sun Wukong and Neptune Vasilias piloting it. "You messed with the wrong guy!", Sun declared as he rained down fire on Winter and Whitley.

"Air support is very effective but at vehicle chases, this would be tricky to pull off.", Ironwood asessed.

"Never thought of myself as a pilot, but it'll do", Sun remarked at this appearance.

"Why the hell am I bald?!", Neptune called out to the screen as the rest of his team laughed at him while other students are resisting the urge to do so.

Winter and Whitley dodged the shots just as the latter reversed his bike and fired back at the helicopter, uttering bullet sounds until an overpass covered them. Whitley grunted as the helicopter appeared at their side once again before it flew above Jaune where Neptune readied a rocket launcher.

"Wouldn't that destroy the bridge too?", Summer worriedly asked.

"Depending on the blast impact, but I'd say it's very likely.", Ironwood calculated.

"But the main purpose is to give Mr. Arc cover. And I highly doubt anyone else is in the bridge", Ozpin said to them.

Neptune shoots the Rocket Launcher, destroying the bridge and allowing Jaune move forward. Just as the bridge was collapsing, Sun smirked but did not notice Winter was still on the road and she used the collapsed bridged as a ramp, laughing lightly as she sped towards the helicopter.

"It's official, Ice Queen's insane", Qrow jokingly remarked, earning himself a glare from the white-haired woman.

"I do not think she's going for that, Qrow. Watch", Glynda told him as they focused on the screen.

"Winter!", Weiss fearfully called out to her sister.

Winter sped up her bike as it literally went through the open doors of the helicopter, knocking Neptune out of the way while shooting at Sun, who barely avoided the shot and made her way out. "Neptune!", Sun called out from his earpiece as he tried to steer the chopper, but it turned out that she shot the steering wheel and the helicopter spiralled out of control just as Winter and Whitley watched the escapade from their bikes. Sun and Neptune bailed out as the chopper crashed, with Jaune avoiding its wreckage.

Everyone's jaws went down at this skillfull display as Winter crossed her arms and smugly smirked at Qrow. "Anything else to say, Branwen?", she mockingly asked but Qrow was speechless at the moment.

Jaune entered a tunnel just as Winter and Whitley were catching up to him where Winter tried to shoot him. Winter pushed Jaune as Whitley raced his bike up and around the curved wall of the tunnel, and attacked Jaune from above, landing on the front of Jaune's bike. He was quickly thrown off, but landed with ease aboard his own vehicle, as Winter moved in for a another assault with her pistols.

Jaune deflected the shots even at close range as the motorcycles he and Winter were riding spun in wild circles along the road. In a last ditch effort, Whitley dug Dual Hound into the pavement, swinging his entire bike into the air and hurling it at Jaune and Winter.

"Awesome...", Ruby muttered at the youngest Schnee's moves.

"Is he insane!? He's gonna hit Specialist with that!", Ironwood called out to the screen.

"I'm not so sure about that, James.", Ozpin said him. "These two are in tandem in fighting Mr. Arc and I could perhaps tell this was all in the plan."

Time seemed to slow as Winter ducked and dodged the incoming motorcycle. Jaune had only moments to react otherwise it's over.

He leapt into the air, sword ready, and sliced the bike cleanly in two. But Whitley was waiting for him, and attacked. What remained of his motorcycle burst into flames as Whitley went after Jaune. For a moment, he seemed to have the upper hand, especially after Winter, too, joined in to double-team the blond man.

"Like I said James, it was their plan", Ozpin remarked while taking a sip of his coffee.

"I wonder if us siblings could fight like that", Winter thought, though unlikely given to on how much Whitley is a brat to their family.

Winter and Whitley continued their assault as Whitley continued to teleport while along the road and dealt some blows to the blond with Winter providing supporting fire against the blond.

Jaune retracted one of his swords and used it to parry their attack and he surprised them both, throwing them to the ground and destroying their weapons. Whitkey had mere moments to toss Dual Hound aside before it exploded in a shower of sparks. Jaume sped off as the two silver-haired individuals reclaimed the remaining bike. Winter tossed her ruined weapon to the ground, and accelerated after their target with Whitley riding behind him.

"Incredible", Mercury praised at the stellar display of fighting while on the road.

"Don't get any ideas yet, Mercury", Emerald told him before he could say anything.

"Their fighting is style is nothing I have ever seen", Glynda said pushing her glasses.

"Damn! Didn't know Vomit Boy was too awesome here!", Yang praised as Jaune blushed.

"Just don't pull off any reckless stunts while riding a bike, Yang", Weiss groaned.

Weiss sped along an overpass, passing next to the tunnel's exit without a glance. In front of the tunnel, on the road at the mouth of the tunnel sat a new helicopter, emblazoned with the logo of the SDC… and positioned in front of that helicopter were Sun and Neptune, waiting.

"Yo… Partner," Sun said casually, glancing toward Neptune, "This thing got any bite to it?"

He held up what could only be a bomb… a very home-made looking one, at that.

"SDC technology at it's finest," Neptune answered.

"You made this shit?"

"If nothing else, it's… flashy," Neptune replied.

"Oh-hoh good…"

"You love it, I know."

"Looks like today we're clockin' out early," Sun said with a slight smirk.

The two Turks stood calmly as Jaune roared past them. Winter and Whitley emerged from the tunnel seconds later, as the timer on the bombs counted down. Winter saw, too late, what awaited her, and Sun grinned.

Behind him, the blast from the Turks' bombs was so powerful is sent Jaune spinning for a moment, but he didn't look back to see what their fate may have been. He was determined to catch up to Weiss.

"Well, least I have my moments", Winter casually remarked.

Weiss, on the other hand, did look back… just in time to see Jaune's motorcycle make a flying leap over the guardrail, landing nearly on top of him. Jaune's sword was poised to attack, and Weiss drew her own blade to deflect the incoming blow. Jaune drove hee forward toward the unfinished end of the road, a steep drop into the remains of Midgar's Sector 5 slums. They careened down the incline, still locked in battle, until finally Weiss landed a direct hit on Jaune's arm. Jaune pulled to a stop as Weiss disappeared around a bend.

Jaune tore away the remains of his sleeve, torn in the fight, to reveal his arm, heavily infected with Geostigma. The action also revealed that he, too, wore a pink ribbon in honor of Phyrra. He revved the motorcycle and charged off in the direction Weiss had taken.

Weiss skidded to a stop inside the Sector 5 church. "Mother!" she cried, peering into the damaged container she'd been so desperate to protect. Her face fell as he saw it's contents and how much had been lost.

"Mother… Mother!" ahe sobbed, clutching the box to her chest. And agonized cry escaped from her. The sound of an engine outside brought him back to reality. Holding the box protectively, she looked up. At the entrance to the church was Jaune ready to resume the fight.

"Didn't know you got mommy issues in this universe, Ice Queen", Yang joked.

Weiss didn't say anything, and instead glared at her. Their mother apparently left them where she spent her time drinking away while almost forgetting about her children, something that Weiss resented to this day.

Jaune's bike charged toward Weiss, and the silver-haired teen took off, the wheels of her own bike squealing on the floor of the church. With a violent motion, and thanks to her recently stolen Materia, she fired a bolt of magical energy at one of the pillars that lined the building. The pillar toppled, narrowly missing Jaune as he skidded beneath it, and came to rest wedged like a ramp leading to the roof. Weiss maneuvered his bike onto it and began to ascend. Jaune came to a stop some distance away. He looked up just in time to see Jaune aim a second blast at him. The energy sent Jaune's bike flying end over end.

Weiss laughed maniacally, surveying the damage she'd done, as Jaune staggered to his feet. He gripped his Geostigma-infected arm, coughing in the dust and debris, and turned his gaze up at Weiss again. The silver-haired girl already had a third spell ready for him. She continued to laugh as the glow of the materia's magic encircled her raised hand.

But below, water slowly welled up from the site where Weiss's last spell had decimated the floor. When Weiss had said it, he paused, uncertain as to what was happening. Jaune, too, looked on in astonishment as the water came up, spilling across the floor. From the center of the pool rose as crystal-clear pillar of water that arched out as it reached the crumbling ceiling. The water began to fall like rain.

Weiss hissed in pain as the water came into contact with her, and tried unsuccessfully to fend it off. Jaunne gasped as it hit his arm. The Geostigma in his left arm took on a green glow and began to disintegrate, rising away from his body and dissipating into the air. Weiss realized that she couldn't stay any longer. She revved the engine of her bike and retreated, disappearing into the ruins of Beacon.

"The Water...it cured his disease!", Ruby called out in relief, with her fellow students cheering on Jaune.

"Now he has fulfilled his objective to Oscar, now he has to deal with Ms. Schnee here", Ozpin exclaimed

Jaune stood silently beneath the falling rain. He was cured. Somehow, miraculously, cured. The church's floor had become a great pool, and slowly the rain began to subside, the last few drops striking the surface of the water.

"Go, Jaune…" a voice seemed to say as he moved forward.

Moments later, Jaune was on his bike, following in the wake of Weiss. Eventually his trail led him to what was left of the SDC Building. He removed his swords from the bike while Weiss waited atop a pile of debris.

"Brother! I'm with her at last!" she shouted down to Jaune.

"So what's gonna happen now?" Jaune asked, locking his gaze on his opponent. Weiss laughed.

"Mother's going to tell me…"

"I guess a remnant wouldn't really know," Jaune spat.

"So what if I'm a puppet?" Weiss asked, glaring at him, gathering materia-powered energy in her hand once more, "Once upon a time… you were, too!"

"Here it comes!", Blake called out.

Jaune never thought he would be fighting Weiss here, where he had a small crush but inwardly, he wished that she doesn't get hurt at this one.

She let loose the magical energy. Jaune leapt to avoid it, sword at the ready. Weiss, too, drew her sword, Souba, ready for one last battle with his 'Brother'. Their fight ranged from one pile of debris to the next, neither man letting up, swords moving nearly as fast as they themselves were.

Jaune slammed down his sword at Weiss who evaded and used the blade to walk on it to Jaune's behind to strike him down but the former mercenary quickly reacted with a slash to which Weiss quickly ducked and they both returned clashing their blades with one another, with Weiss's speed and acrobatics matching against Jaune's brute force and swordsmanship.

"Incredible, those two fought with all they had", Glynda remarked with awe as Ozpin nodded.

Weiss was amazed of her swordsmanship, her style largely different from her current battle style. She could go and take lessons on having different styles.

The Sierra swooped in from above the clouds, and Jaune spared a moment to look up at it, as if gaging how much trouble it might cause him. On board the Sierra, Jaune's allies had assembled.

"Jaune! I brought you materia!" Ruby shouted, her arms laden with shining, translucent spheres. The airship makes a sharp turn, nearly causing her to lose her footing, "Whoa! Hey watch it!"

"Yo, Port! Park this heap!" Ozpin yelled.

"Shut up! You want off, then jump. Get off my back" Ironwood groused.

"He can handle this alone," Qrow said matter-of-factly.

"Huh?" Ruby gasped, turning to look back at Qrow. Below, the two men were still locked in battle.

"Weiss is a remnant of Tyrian," he explained, "Think of him as a sort of larval form."

"Larva," Ruby cried, disgusted, "You mean he's some kind of insect?"

"Lassie… shut up!" Cait Sith intoned from his seat on Nanaki's back.

"A talking cat!", Ruby pointed out.

"This world is really weird", Yang deadpanned at seeing this.

"So the punk's gonna become Tyrian?" Ironwood queried, steering the airship in a wide arc around the battle site.

"Qrow… Does Jaune know? About Weiss?" Yang asked.

"One would think…" the brooding man replied.

"Then… You're right," Yang said, "It's his fight now."

"What? I don't get it," Ruby whined, "Why can't we help out?"

"This is man talk," Ironwood stated from the helm.

"Sexist!" the young ninja shouted, nearly dropping her materia, "Sexist!"

"Can't you just shut yer mouth?!" Cait Sith yelled at her, sick of the bickering.

"The men don't get it either," Ozpin added, hoping to appease her a bit. He turned back to watch the action on the ground below.

"Two years ago… Think of the strength we all had when fought that last battle. It's only been a few years, but already that feeling is gone," said Yang, never taking her eyes off of Jaune, "But Jaune… I think he's found it again."

"He's got ten minutes," Ozpin snorted.

"That Jaune a royal pain in the ass… Like always," said Ruby.

"Jaune is Jaune," Yang replied.

The Sierra backed off from the battleground leaving Jaune to handle things on his own.

"Kinda looks like Yang has a thing for Fearless Leader in this universe", Nora remarked while Phyrra's eye twitched.

"But still, I wish we could have helped him", Ruby lamented, not wanting to see Jaune get hurt.

"I think Fearless Leader got this one!", Nora said to her.

"Have faith in him, Ms. Rose. He will succeed", Ozpin assured her.

Jaune landed on a rooftop, only to immediately send himself airborne again as Weiss struck. A sword in each hand, he fended Weiss off, sometimes gaining ground, sometimes losing it. He no longer knew how long this had been going on. He only knew that he had to beat Weiss.

The two pulled apart, each retreating some distance as they planned their next moves. Weiss was the first to charge, racing toward him across the rooftop, sword ready. But Jaune was ready for him as he combined his swords. Weiss leapt into the air, planning to strike from above, but one great swing of Jaune's sword sent her flying. Weiss's sword was knocked from her grasp, and she fell, catching herself with one hand on a narrow ledge. Her other hand still held tightly to the box that contained Salem's remains. She turned her head and watched as her sword tumbled to the ground far below.

"I told you Fearless Leader would win!", Nora cheered.

"That was intense. The footwork and the swordsmanship, it's just flawless!", Blake praised.

"I have a feeling this isn't over yet", Ruby said as they went silent, with the adults having a similar mind scape.

Jaune stood on the ledge above her, looking down at Weiss. Weiss narrow her eyes, and flung the box into the air at him. Reflexively, Jaune turned his sword on it, slicing it neatly in two.

Weiss saw her chance now. She pushed herself off hard from the side of the building, sailing back several feet and allowing herself to fall, catching the newly opened container as she did so. She reached inside, pulling out it's contents. Jaune watched in shock as realization dawned on him.

"That's her idea! Stop her now!", Ruby called out, realizing it too.

"The distance between him and her is steep, he won't get it in time!", Ironwood called out as he clenched his fist.

"With those contents she could-", Salem thought before focusing on the screen.

"My Reunion," Weiss said simply, holding the contents of the box tight against her chest, as she fell, "Bet you're dying to watch…"

Jaune leapt after her, but it was too late. Weiss's body was already absorbing Salem's cells. Weiss moaned as the cells infiltrated her body, and landed gracefully on the rubble below. Jaune was not far behind, his sword poised for a killing blow.

But it was not to be, for Weiss's transformation was complete. Jaune's sword was blocked by Weiss's… only it was no longer Weiss. Before him, now stood his nightmare… Tyrian. Weiss's sword transformed itself into the legendary Masamune.

"Good to see you… Jaune," Tyrian greeted smoothly, as he raised his eyes to look directly into Jaune's.

(Queue One-Winged Angel)

"This is the first time I heard a greeting this scary", Nora said as she slumped on her seat, with the students having a similar thought. Even Ruby huddled with Yang in fear of Jaune's new enemy.

"That's Tyrian?", Salem questioned. Unlike the Scorpion Faunus they have, Tyrian here is human and have long silver hair and a black military uniform, and is not psychotic or insane. But under his calm visage carries a nihilistic and merciless monster, something that Salem wished that he had. In all, she preferred this Tyrian than the one she had.

Cinder and her entourage however, felt chills dropped on their spines, silently thanking that they didn't have this version of Tyrian at their reality.

The Adults likewise, felt as if a monster had been reborn and is capable of taking down both Ozpin and Salem if he was ever real.

"To what Mr. Flit and Ms. Aeralyn had said, Tyrian is someone who is not to be taken lightly", Ozpin exclaimed, fearing the worst for Jaune.

Jaune's eyes widened as Tyrian slashed him, sending him up in the air before landing another slash again. The blonde sailed upwards, landing on the rooftop once more, searching for his opponent. Tyrian followed him up, launching himself into the air, and easily coming to a rest in front of his opponent.

"Your Geostigma is gone," he stated, "That's too bad."

"Tyrian," Jaune finally spoke, "What do you want?"

Tyrian smiled cruelly.

The image gave everyone chills on their spine.

"The last thoughts of Geostigma's dead. Those remnants will join the Lifestream and girdle the planet, choking it, corroding it. What I want, Jaune, is to sail the darkness of the cosmos with his planet as my vessel. Just as my mother did long ago.", he explained as he raised his hand aloft, and the sky darkened, foreboding clouds blocking out the sunlight. "Then one day, we'll find a new planet," he continued, "And on it's soil, we'll create a shining future."

"That is really scary", Ruby whispered as she huddled with her cloak.

"I feel like this universe's genre is horror. I mean the soundtrack is already scary!", Nora fearfully cried out as Ren embraced her in fear

"What about this planet?" Jaune demanded.

"Well," Tyrian replied, baring his teeth in challenge, "That's up to you, Jaune."

Lightning flashed in the sky as the two men flew toward each other.

From the darkness above the city, smoke-like tendrils descended. It looked, to those who saw it, like the Lifestream, but corroded and evil. The people in Edge looked up and took notice of this new danger.

Elsewhere in Edge, Penny and Oscar watched from the window of the apartment above Yang's bar. Oscar raised a hand to his forehead, as pain surged through the Geostigma infection. Penny looked at him in concern, wishing she could do something to help him.

Then suddenly, she felt something… a sense of love and comfort. Something telling her to be brave and not worry, because everything would be alright. Something… or someone… very familiar.

"Is it her?" she gasped. Images of the pool in the church, and a familiar figure flashed momentarily before her eyes.

In Beacon, Jaune fought against Tyrian tirelessly. He knew he could not lose this battle, for to do so would mean the end of the world. Tyrian goaded him at every turn, attacking then retreating as if it were all a game to him. The two clashed with their blades before Jaune backed away as he was sent down where he witnessed black tendrils shrouded the building but as he did, Tyrian attacked again with a powerful slash that sent Jaune into the remains of a crumbling building. As their swords clashed, Tyrian spoke.

"Mmm… Where did you find this strength?"

"I'm not about to tell you!" Jaune declared, throwing him back. He followed after him, finding himself outside on the rooftops once more, but Tyrian was nowhere in sight. Suddenly, a massive piece of debris crashed down from higher up on the building heading straight towards him. He had mere second to leap out of the way, and when he turned around, Tyrian was there again, sword singing in the air as it came at him. Jaune only just blocked it in time, but recovered enough to swing mightily, bands of energy ripping the ground to shreds as he brought the blade down.

Tyrian was too fast to be caught be the attack, though. He dodged easily, taking to the air, and coming to rest on another building opposite the one he'd attacked Jaune on. Tyrian's legendary strength, and two great strokes of the Masamune, cleaved the vast sheet of concrete and sent it tumbling downwards toward Jaune. Jaune leapt out of the way, and Tyrian attacked in mid-air.

"Damn, blondie's getting beat", Roman grimaced as he gulped his soda while Neo was nervously taking a spoon of her ice cream.

"I never see duels escalated like this, this one seemed to be a soldier fighting for his life against the Angel of Death himself", Ozpin grimly said as he observed the duel.

"Jaune! You have to hang on!", Phyrra cried out to him.

"Don't die on us! Fearless Leader!", Nora fearfully shouted at the screen.

"I've thought of a wonderful present for you," Tyrian said, egging him on, "Shall I give you despair?"

Jaune didn't answer, only continued his onslaught of blows. In the end, Tyrian had the upper hand, and sent Jaune hurtling downward. But Jaune was not about to give in. He drove his sword into the wall of a building, halting his decent, and perched on it, trying to anticipate where Tyrian's next attack would come from. He didn't have to wait long.

High above him, Tyrian gazed down at him.

"On your knees," he said, "I want you to beg for forgiveness."

The topmost portion of the building collapsed then, and Tyrian readied himself, already knowing that it was coming, for he'd been the cause of it. Masamune sliced easily through the concrete, and Tyrian vanished into the cloud of debris.

Cinder felt like a mere bug if she stood against this version of Tyrian. Even with the Fall Maiden's power, she was uncertain she could take him on, neither would her subordinates. She is only glad that this version of Tyrian didn't exist.

Salem on the other hand, prefered this version, calm, powerful and handsome in her own standards and is the perfect partner to share her ideals and plans.

Farther down, Jaune too, prepared for the incoming avalanche. He pressed down on the hilt of his sword, and it separated into two blades. Taking one in each hand, he push off, away from the building in a freefall, as the debris rained down on him, cutting through it as it did so.

And suddenly, there was Tyrian, blade ready, emerging from the midst of the avalanche. He attacked, and Jaune parried again and again. The two men landed briefly on piece of the falling rooftop, clashing swords until it tilted to far for either of them to keep their footing. They leapt to the next available surface and then the next and the next, pausing only to find purchase upon the moving battlefield.

At last, Jaune retreated into the cover of the debris, emerging on the other side of the falling mass, and touching down on a rooftop. He staggered, the battle having taken a toll on his strength, but he didn't have long to rest, for Tyrian was soon upon him.

And so the battle continued, but now Tyrian had the upper hand. Jaune was quickly becoming exhausted. A misstep on Jaune's part gave Tyrian the chance to send him sprawling to the ground. Jaune struggled to get up, but Tyrian was relentless, tossing Jaune into the air like a rag doll, and slamming him into a vertical slab of concrete.

Jaune gasped in pain as unforgiving steel object impaled his shoulder, with Tyrian giving a smirk at him.

"Let me remind you", he declared with malice. "This time you won't forget"

With those words, a single black wing grew from his back and heaved Jaune into the air, where he and the One-Winged Angel clashed blades again but Tyrian slashed him twice before stabbing him several times before stabbing him in the arm, heaving him as he sent him plummeting into the ground.

"JAUNE!", Phyrra cried out to her partner, tears leaving her eyes at the cruel display of bladework at him.

"No...you can't die now, Jaune!", Ruby called out.

Ozpin, Ironwood and Glynda grimaced at Jaune's severely wounded form, not wanted to be reminded of numerous fallen comrades who were at the same situation as he had here.

Jaune weakly struggled as he tried to get up, with blood leaking out in different parts of his body as Tyrian floated above.

"Tell me what you cherish most," Tyrian demanded, looking down on him. Jaune grimaced as blood continued to leak out of his body, loosing his grip onto his sword.

"Give me the pleasure of taking it away," said Tyrian as he moved for the finishing blow.

"JAUNE!", Phyrra cried out to the screen.

"Dodge it! Jaune!", Ruby called out to him.

"No!", Nora shouted as Ren embraced her.

"He's done for..", Mercury muttered.

Jaune finds himself kneeling down, panting as a voice asked behind his back. "So what if it looks hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace you dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honor as SOLDIER! ...Well, okay, you never made SOLDIER. But it's what's in here that counts.", the voice called out as he pumped his chest. He has spiky black hair and blue eyes, his outfit that comprised of a military uniform and carried a large blade on his shoulder. What is noticeable is his scar on his cheek.

"Ren?", Jaune uttered.

"Ren?", Nora wondered if he was a friend of Jaune before in this universe.

"Well? You need a hand with him?", Ren asked as Jaune shook his head and forces himself back up on his feet, sword in hand.

"You already beat him once, didn't you? This should be a cinch!", he called out to Jaune, who nodded.

"Yeah..."

Smiling, Ren reminded him. "Jaune. You know what I told you."

"That's right.. I am your living legacy.", Jaune declared as fury welled up inside of him. Images… memories… or the people he cared about, the people he loved, filled his mind, and he found a new strength. His eyes flashed with determination as he stood back on to win this duel against Tyrian.

"FIGHT ON! FEARLESS LEADER!", Nora shouted to the screen.

"You can do this! Don't give up!", Phyrra encouraged him as the students cheered for him.

Ozpin smiled at their support for Jaune. "Now, I think Mr. Arc has a chance!"

Jaune took up in the air and charged towards Tyrian. "I pity you," Jaune said calmly, "You just don't get it at all."

Tyrian snorted in contempt and charged as the two men launched themselves into the air.

"There's not a thing I don't cherish!" Jaune shouted, and raised his sword. The weapon took on a powerful blue glow, and clashed it with Masamune, where it separated into it's component blades, each of which took up a position hovering around Tyrian. Jaune struck with the blade that still remained him his hand, rocketing past Tyrian and seizing the next sword. This, too, he thrust into Tyrian, moving past him again, and taking up the next blade. Over and over, he pummeled him, until the last blow from the last sword had made contact.

Jaune landed on the rooftop below, the swords raining down in a circle around him and lodging firmly in the concrete. The final one he caught himself.

"HE DID IT!", Nora cheered from the side as her classmates applauded.

"He won!", Blake called out.

"Stay where you belong," he said, looking up at Tyrian, "In my memories."

Tyrian gazed down at him, knowing he had lost. A single black wing extended from his back.

"I will never be a memory," he replied coldly, and wrapped the wing around his body. The wing disintegrated, and when it was gone, so was Tyrian. In his place, was the form of Weiss. Abandoned by Tyrian, she fell to Jaune's level, weakened and injured. She staggered to his feet, and made one last attempt against Jaune, but he simply didn't have the strength. She stumbled, and fell into Jaune held her as she lay dying.

"Brother…" Weiss moaned. Jaune looked down at her, in pity.

'Weiss?' Phyrra's voice spoke, though only the dying girl could hear it. She looked up as a gentle rain began to fall.

'You don't have to fight any longer,' the voice told him.

"Mother?" Weiss asked, "Is that you?"

'Everyone's waiting,' she said, 'If you're ready…'

Weiss nodded, and lifted a hand to the sky, wrapping her fingers around and invisible outstretched hand. Her body vanished in a flurry of life energy, as she at last returned to the planet. The screen fades to black soon after.
