Chapter 11: A Good Life We Lead
"End of screening", Flit said to the audience.
"Awesome!", Ruby called out as everyone had a similar thought on the battle.
"The bike ride totally nailed it!", Yang praised, while thinking about making some adjustments on her own bike soon.
"The villain was sure scary. I mean, his theme already said it!", Nora said in relief.
"The swordsmanship and footwork was flawless, I cannot bring myself to deny that it was not good", Cinder admitted.
"Can we go for the next screening then?", Ruby asked the Observers as Flit and Aeralyn nodded before they pushed the button of the remote as the screen flashed white.
The screen shows a city full of well-designed buildings and architecture, its aqueducts, its people and its art.
"Wow, where is this?", Summer asked in curiosity.
"This is actually set in a timeline called Rennaisance where architecture, art and culture is at its glorious height.", Flit exclaimed as the audience were marveled at the numerous landmarks, edifices and art designs.
The camera pans to Jaune Arc, who was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt with black arm guards with a black vest along with black trousers and boots. Behind him were supporters of his family who wear matching outfits as he does and they cheered for the young Arc.
Yang lets out a whistle, "Wow, you really looked at a mirror eh, Vomit Boy?", she asked, clearly turned on by his appearance, causing the said blond boy to blush while Phyrra's eye twitched in jealousy.
"It seems Mr. Arc garnered quite the attention here.", Glynda observed, pushing her glasses.
"Indeed, his family is among the most popular ones here in Rennaisance Vale, with them being well-respected bankers while having good relations with the ruling Belladonna Family", Flit explained as Ghira raised an eyebrow.
"Isn't Menagerie our home?", the chieftain questioned.
"In this universe, all are seen by state identity rather than genetics, meaning whatever Faunus discrimination that has happened no longer appeared here, and doing so will see the certain person as a uncivillized being. Since the Belladona family had a long history of being bankers and political successes, its place within the Vale aristocracy is assured, with you serving as the de facto ruler of the Republic of Vale", Flit explained as Ghira huffed with pride while Blake smiled, seeing this universe's Faunus being equals with humans and had a place within politics.
"We stand together!", Jaune chanted as the family's supporters replied with 'Together!'. Cheers and shouts could be heard from his side.
"Silence! Silence!", Jaune ordered the crowd as they do so. "Thank you", he remarked before he addressed the crowd.
"Jaune's acting like Professor Port here", Ren said as he observed the blond's behaviour.
"At least he doesn't discuss his long adventures at some sort. He seems to be exciting here!", Yang remarked as she eyed the blond with curiosity .
"Do you know what brings us here tonight? HONOR! Cardin Winchester slanders my family's name and forces his own miseries upon us. If w–
"Enough of your nonsense, idiot!", a voice called out and it revealed to be Cardin Winchester and his gang.
"What do I expect?", Yang sarcastically remarked as she rolled her eyes, knowing well on how Cardin treated Jaune back at Beacon.
"It seems even in another universe, Cardin still has a grudge with Jaune", Ozpin remarked.
"His family is also known for being bankers but their business treat Vale a little bit poorly, especially when his father Francisco Winchester hated Jonathan Arc at this universe", Flit explained as Jonathan was surprised, he never really know a person by the name of Winchester in the present time while he had a rival in this one.
Jaune gave a mocking greeting gesture to his rival "Good evening, Cardin! We were just talking about you. I'm surprised to see you here. I thought the Winchester hired others to do their dirty work.
Cardin pointed at him, "It's your family that cries for guards when there's trouble, coward! Afraid to handle things yourself?"
"Shots fired", Neptune remarked.
"I don't like where this is going..", Jaune muttered as he took a sip of his milk.
"I don't know, maybe blondie got his counter for that", Roman suggested.
Jaune merely smirked at him and declared, "Your sister seemed quite satisfied with the 'handling' I gave her earlier."
Said blond spat his drink in pure bafflement upon hearing what his alternate self has done while everyone gave him a shocked look. "What the hell!?"
"Being quite the deviant are we, Vomit Boy?", Yang asked in a flirty matter, earning another look of jealousy from Phyrra.
"Well, aren't you, Jaune?", Elena Arc asked her son as he only slumped in his seat.
'Must not be jealous, this is just an alternate universe', Phyrra thought to herself.
"Gotta say Arc, it takes steel balls to bag your archenemy's sister!", Neptune remarked with a thumbs up.
Enraged, Cardin picked up and threw a stone at Jaune, which cut a deep wound into his lip.
"Jaune!", Phyrra cried out as she saw the blood coming out of Jaune's mouth.
"Oh it's on now!", Ruby called out as she is now cheering for Jaune and his friends in winning the impending brawl.
"Fearless leader is going to break some legs!", Nora cheered from the side.
"Still, that would have no doubt scarred his lip because of the sharpness of the rock", Summer assessed, worried for the boy's wound.
"I mean the hottest guys often have scars right?", Yang suggested.
"Kill him!", Cardin ordered to his goons but the Arc family's supporters stood in their way and they brawled on the streets. Jaune dodged a punch from a goon before grabbing him and kneeing him on the gut before throwing him towards another. Jaune reacted quickly from behind where he knocked a goon off-balance before he gave a stomp on the man's stomach. Another tried to hit him from behind but Jaune ducked and grabbed him where he landed three punches on the man's face before knocking him out with an uppercut.
"Have to admit, kid's good at this one", Qrow admitted as he took a chug from his flask.
"Indeed it is, Mr. Branwen. His skill in hand-to-hand combat greatly contrast of his own at our universe", Gynda said pushing her glasses.
"But Jaune an his crew are outnumbered, he needs help fast", Weiss said.
Jaune continued to brawl for a while until his brother, Johann Arc, arrived and joined in with the fighting.
"Hey! Behind you!", a voice called out as his brother Johann Arc managed to take down one goon member.
"Johann? What are you doing here?", Jaune questioned as he took down another gang member.
"Is this Saphron?", Jonathan Arc asked, remembering his elder daughter's counterpart at the first universe where she is an amplified dark ninja.
"Yes, Mr. Arc. This is actually your eldest son at this universe, you have four children instead of eight.", Aeralyn explained as Jonathan nodded in understanding.
"I've always wanted a son. Makes me curious how Jaune and his brother would play along overtime", Elena remarked, seeing this version of Saphron to be a hundred times better than the first one.
"I wanted to see if baby brother had finally learned how to fight." Johann said as he sweeped two thugs before sucker-punching their chests.
"And?"
"You have style, but endurance is what counts. Let's see how many of them you can ruin before they get the best of you.", Johann finished as he and Jaune double teamed two thugs.
This time, Jaune brawled with Cardin. However, Jaune's slightly smaller size gave him an advantage in speed where he kicked Cardin in the stomach, pushing him back before giving a cocky 'Come On!' gesture, where Cardin charged again with a punch but Jaune over took it as he grabbed Cardin's head and kneed him in the forehead before punching him twice in the left and right cheek, and he finished it with a clean uppercut where the Winchester suffered a bloody nose.
"That's our Leader!", Nora cheered on Jaune's victory.
"It's always satisfying to see Vomit Boy whoop Cardin's ass", Yang said with a grin.
"As vice Headmistress, I discourage this type of brawls but at this one, I wanted Mr. Arc to win", Glynda admitted.
"Honestly, Blake, I prefer this universe's Jaune than to any other men you met", Kali told her daughter, who blushed darkly at the statement.
Staggering on the ground, Cardin told his men "Fall Back! Fall back!", before he and his concious men retreated. Jaune was prepared to go after them but Johann stopped him.
"What? We've almost won this!", Jaune questioned brother before Johann pointed the obvious.
"Your lip...", he said, causing Jaune to check on it and find out that it is bleeding. Johann looked at the unconcious members of Cardin's gang and got an idea. "Search them. There's bound to be something in their pockets."
"Well now, I never teach my children how to steal!", Elena Arc protested at her alternate eldest son's actions, seeing him as a bad influence to Jaune while Jonathan and the adults laughed.
"Let them be, Elena, you know what they say, Boys will be Boys!", Jonathan said to her.
"Of course, Mrs. Arc, I never taught my daughter how to steal too!", Summer told her as Ruby whistled with sweat dropping down her head.
"If anything, blondie's gonna need it for his busted lip", Roman intertwined as the others nodded, seeing how deep is the wound inflicted on him.
Jaune searched the fallen thugs for money, and obtained the 200 Lien he needed for a doctor's fee. "All right. That should be enough. Let's get out of here before the guards arrive."
The two left the area, and made their way towards a doctor's stand. "Hurry, Jaune. The sooner we're done with the doctor, the sooner we can sleep...", Johann told his brother."
"Good to see you, doctor!",Johann greeted the black robed man. The doctor sighed as he saw the two brothers.
"Hmm...the Arc brothers", the doctor recounted. "Why am I not surprised?"
"I have the feeling this isn't the first time Jaune ran into trouble in this universe", Weiss deadpanned.
"This actually reminds me back when we spar together, Tai", Qrow called out to his teammate with an elbow on the chest.
"Let me remind you that I broke your left arm and right leg at that sparring match, Qrow", Taiyang said to him.
"You've made quite a mess of yourself, young man.", the doctor said to Jaune as he checked on his wound.
"It's nothing, really.", Jaune insisted.
Johann made a begging gesture. "You must help him! That pretty face is his only asset!
"Go fuck yourself!'", Jaune snorted.
The audience laughed at the bond between these two brothers. Jaune felt what life would be if he had an older brother to look up to. For Yang, it mirrored her bond with Ruby in sharing their fun times altogether.
Johann laughed, while the doctor treated Jaune's wound. "There we are. Now get out of here!", the doctor told them.
"Thank you", Jaune replied before Johann motioned his younger sibling to follow him.
"Quite a night!", Johann remarked.
"Indeed. I only wish they were all as much fun... Oh, wait! They are!", Jaune said as the two brothers laughed.
"We should head home,", Johann said to him. "Father's sure to be wondering where we've gone."
"Yes. And I'd rather avoid a lecture"
"Up for a little race, then?", Johann suggested as his younger brother's interest piqued.
"To where?", Jaune asked.
"Wonder what kind of race they're talking about", Yang thought.
"From the simplicity of the word, I'd think it's more than a race", Ozpin said.
"Uhh-Roof of that church.", Johann pointed out as Jaune nodded with a smile.
"On the count of three. One. Two. Three!, and the two sprinted by jumping over a couple of wooden crates before jumping over several wooden beams before running over the rooftops.
"I almost feel bad about this! No shame in failure, brother!", Jaune called to Johann as they ran through the roofs.
Jaune climbed another roof until he jumped over another one and ran ahead off Johann when Jaune jumped over the church's roof.
"He won!", Nora cheered out.
"Those two moved like ninjas!", Ruby remarked with starry eyes.
"Gotta say, those Parkour skills are very effective for Assassins", Mercury praised at their display.
"Bingo. This universe is set on the same one at the third, but this is a parallel timeline where Jaune is in Ms. Rose's place as an Assassin", Flit explained to them.
"Come on, then. This way.", Johann motioned Jaune to follow him.
"Where you going?"
"You'll see!", Johann told him as they both climbed the church tower, seeing the full view of the Republic of Vale.
"It's so beautiful", Phyrra said in fascination.
"I know! It's like a Kingdom on the fairy tales you read on but better", Weiss remarked.
"It is a good life we lead, brother.", Johann lamented with a smile.
"The best. May it never change.", Jaune replied as he placed a hand on his brother's shoulder.
"And may it never change us.", Johann finished. "Alright. Enough of that. We really should head home. Let's go.", Johann motioned his younger brother to follow him but he had other ideas.
"Wait.", Jaune told him, confusing his brother.
"What...?", Johann asked before he looked towards a nearby house.
"Jaune! Let Yang sleep.", Johann told Jaune who simply grinned.
"I don't like where this is going", Qrow grimly said as he suddenly felt his blood boil.
"You, me and both, Qrow", Taiyang said to him as he cracked his knuckles while Jaune began to sweat and felt that his life is in danger.
"Is Jaune some kind of womanizer at this universe?", Weiss questioned the two observers with them, but they simply chuckled.
"There will be time enough for that – later.", Jaune simply said to him.
Johann sighed and sat on the roof, and Jaune stood on a wooden beam.
"Wait...what's he doing?!", Ruby asked, alarmed.
"Gave up on life?", Roman jokingly said.
Jaune vertically jumped over the beam of the roof in a straight stature as he landed on a hay stack.
"Fuck! It's Cardin, I'd better hide.", Jaune muttered to himself as he remained on the stack of hay.
"Keep looking! He couldn't have gotten far...", Cardin ordered his men as they searched the area and Jaune was able to hide until Cardin left to continue the search elsewhere.
"How is he still alive?!", Glynda asked in disbelief as that jumped would have killed a normal person.
"That technique is called the Leap of Faith, a signature move of the Assassin Brotherhood if they needed to go on the ground to safety. Takes a long-time practice", Aeralyn explained to them as they were awed by the display.
Jaune came out of the haystack and then made his way over to Yang's house, checking if someone was there.
"Yang... Yang!", Jaune called out to her in a lower voice to prevent any unwanted attention.
"Who's there?", Yang asked from the window until she heard him say Me!. "Jaune! I should have known."
"May I come in?", Jaune asked her.
"Fine. But only for a minute.", Yang told him.
"A minute is all I need!", Jaune happily declared.
"Indeed."
"Wait... that came out wrong.", Jaune sheepishly said as he climbed up to Yang's window to her room as she sat down. He spread his arms towards her. "Come here.", he asked her as she sighed happily.
"Entering houses now, Jaune? That's a strike!", Sun praised him as said boy blushed in embarrassment.
"I admit, this guy made it easy!", Neptune told Jaune.
For a few seconds, the two gazed upon each other before they shared a passionate kiss. "Oh, Jaune...", she moaned.
Phyrra spat out her drink in bafflement as Yang blushed at the scene. "Well, this certainly got more romantic."
'Do not kill Yang, must not kill Yang!', Phyrra restrained herself.
"This is not what I am expecting", Glynda pushed her glasses in embarrassment with a slight blush.
"He has his way with women in this universe, I take it?", Ozpin remarked.
The two's lips were locked together until he pulled away, and that is where he pulled down the upper part of Yang's night wear.
"WHAT THE FUCK!?", Qrow and Taiyang cursed out as Jaune began to uncontrollably sweat. Blake's nose began to leak out blood at the sight, Weiss covering her eyes, not wanting to imagine her teammate being defiled by the blond boy. Roman and Mercury whistled in admiration, impressed on the Arc's moves. Raven and Summer felt scandalized at the sight.
"Oh, Jaune...", Yang moaned as they kissed again, but this time they went on the ground and the screen fades to black right after.
The adults and staff had to restrain Taiyang and Qrow from lunging in and mauling the boy, who cowered from his father's back, while Yang blushed severely while giving a flirtatious look Jaune while Summer covered Ruby's eyes
The screen showed Yang's house, window closed and in a sunny morning. "Yang! Yang!", Taiyang Xiao-Long called to his daughter.
"Wake up! Your tutor will be here soon!", he went to her door. "Come, my daughter... Is it really so terrible tha–", Taiyang opened the door to see Yang still sleeping and Jaune buttoning his pants.
"Son of a bitch! What is this?!", Taiyang cursed out as Jaune jumped out of the window landing on the ground safely..
"Forgive me, sir! I beg your pardon!", Jaune tried to apologize as he jumped.
"I'll kill you!", Taiyang furiously shouted from the window.
"Now, now! That's not necessary...", Jaune tried to reason with him.
"Guards! Guards! Bring me his head!", Taiyang ordered his men. Jaune quickly ran as he free ran along with wooden and metal beams. "There's really no need for violence...", he said to them as he slid over a vending booth.
"You have me confused with someone else...", he said as he continued to run with the guards behind his tail.
"She needed some help... with... some things...", Jaune reasoned as he climbed up the roof and the guards began to throw stones at him but he managed to outrun them by climbing on the roof.
"I'm mostly innocent!", Jaune finally said as the screen went black.
