Spectre: Majority wins. And I pick COD for the next three chapters for this pick. Take note, that I would be choosing specific missions at my choice. Then, once I finished with the trio, I would focus to the second and third most voted choices back at the previous chapter. And 400 follows, oh my god! Thank you for your continuing support!
Inspiration: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Note: I plan to revise Chapter 2 of the fic, since I have other plans for Blake within the Modern Warfare universe. Hence, I am replacing her with Winter in taking Gaz's place.
Chapter 18: Keep Your Friends Close
"All right then, we'll go back to where he finished before.", Flit announced to the audience, who were curious on what universe they will show next. Jonathan and Elena managed to revive Jaune and calm him dowm after seeing himself get tazered on the nuts.
"Which one is it?", Ruby eagerly asked.
"Back to where Captain Branwen, Sgt. Soap and Corporal Winter are", Flit told her as Ruby squealed at the thought of seeing her mother and Uncle Qrow work side by side again this time while Winter rolled her eyes, still not liking the fact that Qrow is a captain.
A small screen which appeared on the map started the next mission. It showed the video of Watts in the right moment when he killed Ghira Belladona.
"Captain Branwen. Arthur Watts just executed Chancellor Ghira Belladona on national television." Winter's voice said to her superior.
"WHAT?!", Kali and Blake shouted at the report of their husband/father's death at the hands of the rogue Atlesian scientist while the Patriarch was likewise surprised.
Ironwood clenched his fist at the sight of Watts executing such an honorable man, wishing that there was something done to save him.
"What happened, Mr. Flit?", Ozpin asked the observers.
"Well, an armed coup supplied by the Ultranationalists at Mistral gave Watts the strenght needed to seize power at Menagerie at the suggestion of the Ultranationalists themselves in order to sway international attention to other countries instead.", Flit explained to them.
"The Atlesians have plans for Watts, and it's too late to do anything for Belladona, but in less than three hours, code-name Raven will be executed in Mistral." Qrow said.
A square moved from the location where Belladona was executed. It moved across the map and it showed on a place which as audience assumed to be Mistral.
"Raven, sir?", Winter questioned.
"Raven is our informant in the Ultranationalist camp. She supplied the intel on the cargoship operation." Qrow continued as the two pictures of Raven appeared on the screen. One of them was showing the information about her, like her age, while the other one showed her holding a rifle.
"Well, looks like we're saving your ass this time.", Qrow sassed to Raven, who merely rolled her eyes while wondering how did she get captured.
"And we will saver her, if it's the last thing we do", Summer said with determination for her squadmate.
"Raven is in hell, now. We're gonna walk her out. We take care of of our friends. Let's move." Qrow finished what he was saying before the satellite tracks Summer's position with the rest of their team at the Svendorvsk Mountains at Mistral.
["Blackout"]
[Day 2 - 1:31:24]
[Svendovsk, Mistral]
[Sgt. "Soap" Rose]
[22nd SAS Regiment]
Summer along with Qrow and Winter were currently in a place that looked like a middle of a swamp. "The Loyalists are excepting us about half a click to the north. Move out." Qrow ordered as they began walking forward.
"I wonder who is going to be the leader the Loyalists? They must be important in the story if they were mentioned in the first mission." Glynda wondered.
"Loyalist, eh? Are those the good Mistralians, or the bad ones?" Winter asked.
"Well, they won't shoot us on sight if that's what you're asking." Qrow answered.
"Yeah, well, that's good enough for me, captain." Winter assured him.
After several seconds of walking, Qrow's squad spotted a man standing on a pier. They immediately stopped and looked around the place to see if there was more of them. They saw that there was another man, leaning against the car door, and two other men, inside the cabin. He aimed his rie at the man on the pier and quickly gunned him down, his friend who was leaning against the car door joining him a second after. The two men that were in the cabin noticed what happened to them, and rushed out to see what was going on, only for them to be gunned down by the squad.
"Good work. There should be a few more guard posts up ahead. Torchwick and his men will be waiting for us in a field to the northwest." Qrow said, as they began moving again towards their destination.
"Torchwick? He is the leader?", Glynda asked in a very surprised tone, not thinking that he would be a soldier at this one.
"Torchwick is many things, but loyal isn't exactly one of them", Ruby said, rolling her eyes.
"I take offense to that, Red!", Roman shot back. He may have been a thieving bastard, but at least he has his limits unlike some other people. Moreover, him sticking around with Neo with a close friendship is already loyalty to him, so that wasn't true.
The squad moved under the bridge, and another guard post came into their view. They made their way to the entrance to one of the cabins were three or four enemies who were minding their own business. There was a another cabin up on the hill, above them, and the squad noted that there was one man, sitting on the chair outside, as the two men were inside the house.
"Soap. Plant some claymores in front of the door, then get their attention.." Qrow ordered her.
Summer did as she was told to. She pulled out her claymore and put it down on the ground, right next to the entrance to the cabin, then Qrow shot at the house, allerting the enemies that someone was outside. They gave up whatever they were doing and rushed outside, only to be killed by the exploding claymore.
"That was impressive." Ironwood stated, impressed by his planning.
"I agree." Oobleck agreed with him as did with Port, seeing how Qrow would so this professionally, and more surprisingly, more sober than this one.
The Ultranationalist that was sitting on the chair, fell off of it to the floor, and didn't had any chance to see what was going as Winter shot him in the head, ending his life. His two friends, who were in the other house, rushed out, but they, just like their fellow soldiers, were gunned down by Qrow and Summer, before the squad moved up the hill, to the third, and last house. They walked into it, and made their way over to the kitchen, where Qrow stopped right in front of the doors.
He opened it slowly, and quietly to make sure that there wasn't any enemy on the other side, revealing a small field with a very old car, and bulldozer.
He paused for a moment, "Ice Queen. You smell that?"
"Yeah. Torchwick." Winter responded.
A moment after Winter said those words, a man with ginger hair with a peculiar hat wearing a black military uniform as Roman Torchwick revealed out of the bushes, holding his rifle above him.
"The thought of Torchwick being a soldier is laughable enough", Yang whispered to her teammates to which they snickered.
"Welcome to the New Mistral, Captain Branwen." Roman said as made a gesture with his free hand, a few dozen more Loyalist soldiers stood up.
"What's the target, Torchwick? We've got an informant to recover." Qrow informed the man.
"The Ultranationalists have BM21 on the other side of the hill. Their rockets have killed thousands of civilians in the valley below." Torchwick answered them.
"Now I understand why Watts is working with them." Ironwood stated, glaring at the Atlesian scientist.
Torchwick gestured to his men, and they began moving forward. He was about to join them, but Qrow stopped him, "Not to fast. Remember, Kuo Kuana? You're with us."
"Hmm... I guess I owe you one." Roman agreed.
"Bloody right you do." Winter said.
And with that, all of them began running up the hill, and once they reached their destination. Roman gave an orderee to one of his men to lead his troops while he'll be with Qrow, Winter and Summer, "This way. There's a good spot where sniper can cover my men."
As Roman said that, Summer switched her suppressed M4A1 to the M21 sniper rifle, as the squad was now moving through the different path.
"Now, that's a sniper-rifle!" Ruby said with excitement, eyeing her mother's rifle.
When the squad made their way to the sniper position where the team saw several rockets, flying into the air, then they heard Qrow say, "Sniper team in position. Winter, cover the left flank."
"Roger, covering left flank." Winter said back as Summer got herself into the position, she looked down at the village, trying to find any possible targets, and the only enemies she saw were three Ultranationalists, who were casually walking along the road on patrol.
"All units, commence the attack." Roman ordered his men and they opened fire with their RPGs destroying the BM21s..
Summer quickly took care of the three soldiers she spotted a moment ago, before she began looking around for more enemies, and she saw that two rebels were inside a cabin where she quickly eliminated them before two more appeared from the open window, using LMGs. But Summer quickly took care of them, killing one with one bullet and three shots through the wall with the other.
Two of Torchwick's men, noticing that the sentries were eliminates, rushed over to the house, and began checking it as Roman cursed, "Damn enemy helicopters!"
"You didn't say there would be any helicopters, Torchwick." Qrow said, as two choppers flew above their heads.
"I didn't say there wouldn't be any either!" Torchwick pointed out.
"He's not wrong." Jaune said.
"... We need to protect my men from those helicopters troops! This way!" Torchwick finished what she was saying, as he began leading Qrow's squad to the place where would they take care of the Ultranationalists that rapelled down from those helicopters.
"Make it quick, Torchwick, I want that informant." Qrow reminded him.
"You have nothing to worry about. We'll take out the BM21s and carve a path straight to your informant, Captain Branwen." Roman assured him as they began making their way through the destroyed and burning house.
"We should just beat it out of him, captain." Winter said to Qrow through the radio.
".. Not yet." Qrow answered after a moment, as Summer switched her sniper rifle back into M4A1.
"Beating me up to get the information? Really?" Torchwick sarcastically asked, rolling his eyes.
"Well, you're not not giving it willigly, yet, and from what we've heard, they really need that informant." Ozpin pointed out.
Roman took a moment to think about it, "You're right. We probably would have done the same thing."
Summer was now focusing her attention on the grassy field and the enemies who were running down the hill, as Winter said, "Captain. We've got company. Helicopter troops closing in fast!"
Qrow, his squad and Torchwick were clearly outnumbered by the Ultranationalists, who were hiding behind the rocks, or in the grass. They managed to take a few of them down, but it didn't change the fact that they were still outnumbered. Summer knew what to do in that situation. She knew it was a very good time to switch to her grenade launcher attachment. She fired once, killing the three hostiles who took a cover behind a large rock, twice, she killed two more who were hiding in a grass while Qrow, Winter and Roman dealt with rhe remaining hostiles.
Once they had been taken care off, Torchwick yelled out, "Captain Branwen! My men have run into heavy resistance. Help me support them from the cliffs!"
"What about our informant? He's running out of time." Qrow said. It seemed like they were going to use Winter's idea of beating this information out of Torchwick.
"Then help us! The further my men can get into the village, the closer we will get to securing your informant!"
"Why can't he just tell them where Raven is?" Summer wondered out loud why Roman was not giving Qrow's squad information they needed.
"His priorities lie in capturing the village, but he wanted it secured first before Raven. But chances of saving her are slowly turning slim at this point", Ozpin pointed out.
Switching back to her sniper-rifle, Summer, her squad and Torchwick made their way to the edge of the hill, where they saw Roman's men fighting with the Ultranationalists. She shot down two rebels who opened fire at Roman's men from the distance, before an enemy BMP came into her view, as it was headed towards Roman's men. The moment after, she spotted three rebels who were taking a cover in the house, right under them. They were trying to take down as much as Roman's men as they could, but they weren't able to do much damage, as Summee already took care of them.
The moment after, Torchwick left his position and began running up the hill, "Good, now we are making progress. Follow me to the power station."
The others stopped what they were doing and followed hom, and once they got into another position, Roman looked down at the village, "Look. The final assault has already begun. With a little more of your sniper support, we are to be victorious, Captain Branwen. I need to ask a favor..."
It seemed like Winter was finally done with him, as she grabbed Torchwick by top of her backpack and top of his pants, and slammed him against the cement wall, threatining to throw him off the cliff. "Enough sniping! Where is the informant!?"
"Woah, woah, woah! Easy there, Ice Queen!", Roman called out, not really liking to be thrown from a cliff as his cause of death.
"This is what happens when you anger Ice Queen." Qrow said to Winter, who merely rolled her eyes in response while Neo glared at her for what she's doing to Roman.
Roman was saying something in the language most of didn't understand, as Winter continued to threaten him, "Where is he!?"
"The house..." Roman answered after a moment, "The house at the northheast end of the village!"
"Well, that wasn't so hard, was it?" Winter sarcastically asked, letting go off Roman, "Now go sit in the corner."
"Now I'm treated like some sort of five year old?", Roman asked in a deadpanned tone.
Roman sat down, leaning against the wall in relief, as Qrow, Winter and Summer prepared themselves to rappel down the wall. "Soap, Winter. We've got to reach that house before anything happens to the informant. Let's go!", he ordered them as Summer wrapped the rappel to her belt, and made sure it was wrapped tightly, before rappeling down the wall. When she was on the ground, she rushed towards the village wth Winter and Qrow running behind her.
Summer, knowing that rushing through the main road of the village was a death sentence, decided to sneak her way to the house while Torchwick's men deal with whatever Ultranationalists that remain. She crouched down, and began walking towards one of the houses, slowly, eventually taking care of the enemy that came into her view, and sooner or later, she made her way in a large house. When she stood up, and walked through the entrance, she threw one flash-bang, blinding them. Once, it exploded she rushed into another room, with her rifle in ready, and took care of the blinded hostiles.
After taking care of them, she made her way to the exit, and saw that three enemies took a cover behind a car. She knew how to deal with them. She switched to her grenade-launcher, and fired one grenade at the car, causing it explode, killing the enemies that were hiding behind it.
With that, the only house they had to deal with now, was a house that on the hill.
"I hope, we're not too late!", Summer stated, wanting to save one of her edgiest, if not moodiest members of their team.
"Trust me, they'll get to her", Taiyang assured her.
"Bloody hell, let's move! She may still be alive." Qrow said to Summer and Winter as they ran up the hill, until they reached the house. She and Qrow ran to the front door, and got herself ready to storm the building, "Winter, go around the back and cut the power. Summer, get ready."
It didn't took that long, before the lights went out, and Winter confirmed it on the radio by saying, "All right, I've cut the power. Go."
Qrow slowly opened the doors, and he and Summer walked in. The house was too dark to move around, so they both put their night vision goggles on. After that, they moved to one room, and saw one rebel, leaning against the wall, with a gun in his hand, as he was calling over for someone but h never got to hear his friend's reply, because Summer shot him in the head, killing him instantly.
"These night vision goggles make it too easy." Qrow stated as they moved to another room.
"Now I envy the Faunus who had natural Nightvision", Ruby said with a pout while Blake and the other Faunus chuckled.
In another room, they saw one rebel, walking forward himself, with a pistol raised in the air, calling over for the Ulranationalist, which was most likely killed by Summer just a moment ago. Qrow took care of him without any problem, before he and Summer went up the stairs.
As they made their way up the stairs, and walked into another room, they saw a rebel sitting on the ground, waving his pistol around in the panic. He wasn't even able to spot his enemies, before Summer shot him in the head, before she and her sister moved further in the room, and saw that someone was panicking and was firing his gun
Before, the two operatives could take care of him, they took care of one rebel who was waiting for them behind the flipped table, and once he heard them coming, he leaned out of his cover and tried to take of them but wasn't able to do much damage to them. Now, They both took a cover behind the wall, and waited for the faunus who kept shooting at this place, to stop firing there, When it seemed like he had to reload his gun, Summer came out of the cover, and fired half of the magazine at the doors, which she assumed to be the place were the rebel was hiding, and she wasn't wrong. A moment after, the lifeless body of the Ultranationalist member fell through the doors.
Then, they moved to the last room, where they saw a man laying on the ground. It had to be Raven. They moved to this room, where they were met with one rebel that leaned out of the cover, fired one bullet at them, before he was shot in the head by Qrow. His lifeless body fell on the floor, and the flashlight he was holding in the other handenlightened Raven's face.
'There she is." Taiyang confirmed.
"Mission, accomplished!", Summer said with a sigh of relief.
Qrow picked the flashlight up and held it in front of Raven's face to make sure it was him, "It's her."
Winter, who made her way there, asked, "Raven, are you all right? Can you walk?"
As Qrow helped Raven get back on her feet, she handed him a rifle that was laying nearby, as he said, "Yes... and I can still fight. Thank you for getting me out of here."
"Big Bird, this is Bravo Six." Qrow began as the group started making their way out of the house, "We have the package. Meet us at LZ one. Over."
"Bravo Six. This is Big Bird. We're on our way. Out." Big Bird replied, as the group was now outside, running through the field to the LZ. It was also the moment when Summer took her night vision goggles off, not really needing them right now.
As the helicopter landed on the landing zone, Qrow was the first one to her himself into the helicopter, followed by Summer, Raven and finally Winter. When it began to take off, Raven poked Qrow on his shoulder, earning his attention.
"Have the Atlesians already attacked Arthur Watts?" She asked.
"No. Their invasion begins in a few hours, why?" Qrow wanted to know why Raven was asking her that.
"The Atlesians are making a mistake. They will never take him alive." was Raven's answer before the screen fades to black.
"Proceeding to the next one, but this may be a little shocking to all of you", Aeralyn announced as the audience were immediatley curious about it. But Ironwood had a grim look, knowing what Watts is capable off.
