The next chapter is up! Hope everyone's been enjoying it so far. Last we heard, our two main characters encountered what they could only assume was a demon. While fending it off, it quickly turned from a fight to a struggle. Thus, causing them to make a quick retreat. Luckily, they stumbled upon what looked like an abandoned silo and took up refuge there. Let's see what happens next...Enjoy :)
After they got their breathing under control and back to normal. Frieza and Lily took in their new surroundings. "This place is quite spacious. It doesn't look like it's been abandoned for long. We should try to see if any supplies were left behind. You will need your head looked at too."
He looked at her. "Are you going to fuss every time I get an injury? This is nothing. Just mind your own business."
She just narrowed her eyes. "Fine, just sit here with that stick firmly up your ass then. I'm going to look around."
He snorts. "Suit yourself, don't come running if one of those abhorrent creatures are lurking about in here."
She went down the ladder to the first floor. There appeared to be multiple hallways that lead out from the main room they were in. Luckily, at the beginning of each one there was a small sign and map of the different rooms. 'Let's see, where is the room with medical supplies and food supplies?' She inspected the first two hallway maps with no luck.
But the third one she got to, had the rooms she was looking for. There wasn't too much lighting. So she pulled her phone out of her bag and switched on it's flashlight. According to the wall map, the medical supply room was four doors down on the right. While the food storage was further down the end of the hall to the left.
She went in and looked through all the cabinet's contents for what she could bring back with her. She grabbed a couple rolls of gauze, a roll of adhesive tape, and some ace bandages. She looked in a cabinet under the sink. To her luck, Lily found what appeared to be a compact emergency kit. Lastly she grabbed a small thin medical blanket. Feeling pleased with the findings, she left and made her way down to the food storage room. Unfortunately here, there wasn't much to go on. Whoever was here before, looks to have cleaned out majority of the supplies.
In the end, all she could find were some canned fruits and a few of these small bars. They looked a lot like her world's granola bars. There was also some unused water bottles. She packed up whatever she could fit in her bag. Then carried the rest in her arms and made her way back to the main room. On the way, she passed another room that looked like a small dorm room. It had a few small twin size bunk beds in it. This was even better, now they had a place they could rest and get some sleep. She made it back to the ladder, left the supplies at the bottom and climbed back up.
"Listen, I found enough supplies for now. I also found a dorm with some beds. Let's bring the stuff there to look through and get some rest." Lily informed him.
Instead of answering her, Frieza got up and jumped the railing. He landed on his feet and started heading to one of the hallways. 'The prick could've at least grabbed some of the supplies. So I didn't have to carry it all back.' She shakes her head and makes her way back down the ladder.
She collected everything off the ground and headed to where he was going. She found him scoping out the wall maps. "It's down the third hallway to the left." She said.
So he proceeded down the third hall, with her walking behind with their findings. She walked in and saw him plop down on one of the lower bunks. Which caused a plume of dust to shoot up. She stopped at one right across from his and started shaking out the dust atop the blanket. Then did the same to the small, firm pillow. Then sat down and started pulling stuff out of her bag. She put it next to the other stuff on the bed. Then Lily tossed the bandages and tape to Frieza.
"I don't need this." He says, as he tossed them aside.
"At least wipe the blood up. Then put some disinfectant on the scratches and gash. Here just take the kit". She drops it next to him on the bed.
He sighs, 'If it means she will shut up and leave him in peace. Then he'll do it.' He wasn't sure how to open the strange small box at first. Until he found a small transparent oval on the side. As he put his finger to it, it started to open. For such a tiny compact box, it sure held a lot of medical supplies. It had everything from a variety of bandages, to gauze pads, thread and stitching needles. Along with some small bottles of anti-bacterial ointments, some small square hand towel and alcohol wipes.
He took out some of the wipes and wiped the blood from under his nose and at the corner of his mouth. Then began dabbing at the cuts. The cuts have already stopped bleeding. But the gash to the side of his head, was deeper and still bleeding a bit. He used a couple more wipes for the gash. Then threw some gauze on it.
"You want some of this food?" She held out one of the cans of fruit and granola bars to him.
He waves it off. "I'm not hungry."
"Your not? But neither of us has eaten since we got here. At this point, I'm starving." She said.
"Then you eat all of it. I don't require sustenance just yet. I can go for a long period of time without food and sleep If I must." He told her.
'Still she didn't want to eat all of it. She'll eat some of it now. Then save the rest for later in case he changes his mind or needs it. Thankfully, the cans had pop tops with tabs. Lily pulled it off, and started scooping out what looked liked pineapple chunks.
"So why were you on earth? What were you planning on wishing for this time?" She asked.
"I don't see how that's any of your business, human. Especially since I can't even make it now either way. Again, those monkey friend of your had to go and meddle with my plans like always." He told her.
"Correction, it wasn't really Goku and Vegeta who screwed up your grandiose plan. You have that sorcerer to thank for that." She said.
"Correction." He mocked. "He arrived much later. By then, that saiyan and I were locked in combat. Had none of you not shown up and delay me from my wish. I would've been able to make it. Then send that so called sorcerer straight to hell."
"Is power the only thing that matters to you? There is way more to life then just that." She said with disgust.
He couldn't help it, he started to laugh. "Maybe to someone as pathetic as you and the rest of your weakling race there is. I don't expect someone as lowly as you to understand the true meaning behind it."
"Oh, then by all means. Explain it to me, Oh Great One." She says, as sarcastically as possible.
He grinned. "Alright then, I'll use as many small words as possible so you can follow more easily."
"Try not to bite your tongue too much then." She retorts.
Veins started pulsating around his temple out of anger. "The universe is a cruel and dangerous place, Little One. There is no pity or leniency for the weak. To those fortunate enough to come by such power demand respect. Along with the ability to take whatever they want...by any means necessary. For many such as myself, it allowed my Father to establish his own great empire. From there, he learned how to make it thrive prospectively through profit. It's the most lucrative way of, what is it you say? Getting ahead in the world and establishing a position on top.
Of course there will always be those who may try to stop you or get in your way. That's an issue easily fixed. By means of extermination as I like to put it. Besides, there is no room for such weak species in the universe. Their useless and can't contribute to anything. The only important aspect they have to offer are their worlds, nothing more. So as to answer your puerile question. Yes, power is everything."
"Your Wrong." She says.
"I beg your pardon? What was that?" He asked.
She took a deep breath and said it a little louder. "Your Wrong."
"Oh, and how am I wrong? This I must here." He said with laughter in his voice.
"Power and brute strength doesn't define an individual or a race. There is way more to offer and provide besides that. Intelligence is also our strength and our gift. There are limitless ways we can use it. It has open so many doors throughout our evolution. Gave us higher thinking and purpose. An altruistic nature and the ability to demonstrate a higher level of emotions.
You think power is the only thing with endless possibilities, but it's not. What we can achieve and how we choose to achieve it. That has an infinite amount of possibilities...and only a very minute percentage ever involves physical grit or power. Determination and ambitions is a big part on why we thrive as a race. It's why we were able to form societies, establish laws, make a living, advance in technology, and medicine. These are but a few examples. But it's these few that are key to success and respect. In no way is it a weakness. If it were, we would have never been able to successfully adapt and survive as we have." Lily stated.
He rubs his chin in thought. "Hmmm, what you say, had some strong factors to consider...But in the end, I still don't see how it should nonetheless make any difference to me."
"You can call me pathetic all you want. But it doesn't change anything you told me. All it did was provide insight on how your just a tyrant and a bully. Who has an over inflated ego and throws a tantrum when something doesn't go his way. Now. That. Is. Pathetic." As soon as she uttered out that last word. He was on Lily, pinning her down to the bed.
Normally this would have scared her. But by now, she was just downright sick of his intimidation tactics.
"Let's get something straight here, girl. Don't presume to think you know anything about me. Because in truth...You Don't Know A Damn Thing About Me. I survive and do what I see fit. I could care less that you, or any of those other pathetic fools paint me out to be the villain, tyrant, or even a monster. Not everyone chooses the path of moral righteousness. They can lie to themselves about who they are. But cannot ever change what they really are." Frieza grounded out.
She looked deep into crimson eyes. They were not blank or emotionless. It was the opposite, there were many emotions floating around in those eyes. It was easy to over look at a distance or in battle. But at this close range, it was very easily perceivable.
"We can't always change ourselves. But we still have the ability to change our paths." She spoke in a calm, low voice without taking her eyes off of his.
Frieza rears back like he's been slapped. He slowly let's go of her arms and retreats back to his bed. He turns and looks out a small window.
"Go to sleep." Was the last thing he would say to her for the rest of that night.
Lily sighs and rolls onto her side facing away from him. She's a bit restless from the previous events. So she pulls out her iphone and head phones. Then goes through her itunes library until she settles on a song.
"Memories Consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again
I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused
I don't know what I'm fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight
Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again
I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know why I got this way
I'll never be alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight
I'll paint it on the walls
'Cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
To show you what I mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight"
Another fun chapter to write. There's finally some serious interaction going on right now with these two. Frieza is quite the challenge to write. Being a very complex character, you never know if your hitting it right with his personality. But try to get as close as possible. You get brownie points if you guess the song right. Yes, it is 'Breaking the Habit' by Linkin Park. I'm a hardcore rock music girl. So any future songs you may see posted here will be just that. I also think the genre of music seems fitting to these two particular characters. So some of the songs may highlight the chapters themselves. Until next time ;)
I don't own the rights to the song or lyrics.
All rights belong to Linkin Park and their album 'Meteora.'
