Hello everyone, back again with the next exciting chapter to the story "His Frozen Heart" In this one, they find a hotel to settle in. But even then, not everything goes as planned. Enjoy :)
It's hard to describe it. The place looks new yet, somewhat rundown. It is around thirteen stories with an in-ground parking garage underneath. She could care less how it looked. It was still a safer place to rest than the woods. Especially now knowing what lurks out there at night. They made their way inside and through the lobby to the front desk. A balding man in a strange dress suit was there. Bellhops, worker men, and aliens alike bustling about behind the desk and assisting guests in the lobby .
"Hello and welcome to 'The Metro Hotel' how can I help you today?" They asked.
Lily cleared her throat. "Yes, we'd like a room please with two beds..."
"No, two separate rooms." Cut in Frieza.
The man or 'concierge' behind the desk gave them an apologetic smile. "I apologize my friends. We are very booked with rooms. So the choices are quite limited. There are a few rooms on the top couple floors still open. And if you two are here together. You may have to share a room, so the remaining few we have can go to some other guests."
'He could not believe what he was hearing. The last thing he wanted to do was share sleeping quarters with this twit again. He wanted his time alone and he damn well was going to get it.' Frieza opened his mouth to argue with the man until Lily spoke first.
"That is fine we understand, and we will take whichever room is still vacant." She told him.
"What?" He hissed.
She gave him a look to shut up. Then turned back to the man to pay for the room. "Here's your room card, Miss. Its room 1204 on the 12th Floor, and please take advantage of our dining hall. The dinner buffet opens around 6:30pm. Our indoor/outdoor pools are open until midnight and reopen at 8am. We hope you enjoy your stay."
She thanked him and walked to the elevators with a fuming Frieza trailing her. They were the only ones occupying the elevator. Which was made completely out of glass. You can see each floor as you go up. As soon as the door closed, he turned to her.
"What was that? You should have pushed for two rooms. Your bargaining skills are horrendous and your such a pushover." Frieza snapped.
She really had it with his pissy attitude and mood swings. "I'm not a pushover. If that is all he say's is available, then there isn't much that we can do about it. A lot of hotels operate in the same way. To them it's irrelevant to give two or more rooms to each person in one party. They feel like they loose profit and room in doing so. To them, it's all about squeezing in as many people to max capacity. The more people, the more money. Just suck it up for one more night. We'll do things differently the next night."
By the time she finished talking, they made it to the twelfth floor. She noticed the last three floors didn't look as nice as the first ten floors. They even looked smaller? Either that or the hallway appeared narrower then the halls on the lower floors. They didn't have to go far, before they found the door to their room. There was no card slot in the door. Only two small round lights next to each other, one red and one green. She held out the card which happened to be right in front of the little lights. She heard a beeping sound and both the lights turned green and the door automatically slid open.
'Neat', she thought. That is until she saw what was in the room. There was only one bed! Not only that. It was a bit on the small side. Like an in between size between a full and a queen size. 'You got to be shitting me.' There was a nice size flat screen t.v. embedded in the wall, a small desktop that jutted out from the wall with a small hover chair. While a closet for luggage and clothes with a safe was tucked in the lower left corner(also embedded into the wall), and a small mini-fridge. She looked into the bathroom. That had a sink with cabinets filled with towels and toiletries. Along with a decent size shower stall, and right next to it was a medium size tub with water jets in it.
All in all it was a nice room. The only two downsides were the somewhat 'small' bed she had to share with Frieza. This made her cringe and the walls were quite thin. She could hear some of the neighbors talking through the wall. 'Welp! beggars can't be choosers right?'
"This is even worse than I thought." Grumbled Frieza.
She threw her sack down next to the bed. "Well, make yourself comfortable."
With that she went into the bathroom to shower. As the bathroom door slid closed behind her. Lily thought she heard him say something else, but couldn't make out what he said through the door. She went to turn on the shower, only to find there were no knobs. This confused her momentarily, until she got an idea. She held out her hand below the nozzle and the water automatically turned on. When she pulled her hand away it turned back off. Seems like a lot of things around here are motion activated. She stripped down and stepped in, which automatically turn it on again.
Now how could she make it warmer? She looked around the stall seeing if she could find something that will make it warmer. But had no such luck.
She huffed. "How do I make it warmer?" She said aloud.
Out of nowhere a computerized voice came on. "Adjusting water temperature." It said.
The water steadily became warmer to a more comfortable temperature. 'Damn, where can I get one of these showers for my place?' Off to the side, there were two small crevices in the shower stall. One held what looked like shower gels and the other held what she guessed were a few bottles of shampoo and conditioner. She pulled out the ones that were for ladies. It had a nice flowery scent to it. Can this get any better? She loved floral scents. It's all she ever used at home. Maybe it won't be so bad.
While Lily was finishing up in the shower. Frieza was outside pacing furiously in the bedroom. 'How could this be happening? Everything was going as planned. He had the dragon balls and he was so close to making his wish. Then those damned monkeys had to show up yet again and get in his way. Then not long into their battle, some magical fool interceded and had them flying off to another dimension in time.
Only to land in a strange world, weak and completely powerless. Worst of all, he became not only stuck. He had his life tethered to the most infuriating woman he has ever come across. Not only can he not get away from her but he can't even kill her, otherwise he will perish along with her.'
He stops his pacing looks up to the ceiling and sighs. "Why do I feel like this is life's cruelest joke yet?"
The bathroom door slides open and Lily comes walking out refreshed and dress, towel drying her hair. "You hungry yet? Want to get some food downstairs in the dining hall?"
He walks to the bay window. "I've had enough of mingling with the resident populace. I'm staying here."
She threw the towel in the laundry bin. "Fine, well I'm going down to get something to eat. I'll be back soon."
With that she left him alone. He went to a sliding glass door that led to a balcony by the window and stepped outside. He sat on a small hovering chaise lounge and laid back to clear his head. He wasn't entirely sure how long she was gone. But it couldn't have been long. He heard the door slide open in the bedroom. She walked out on the balcony with something in her hands. It was a trey of food and she set it out on the table next to where he was sitting.
"Since you didn't want to go down. I brought up some food for you." She sat the tray of food down on the small table by his chair.
He didn't even acknowledge her or what she said. Just sat there staring up into the sky. By now the sun was starting to go down. She figured she wasn't going to get any response out of him. So she got up to go back inside, maybe see what's on t.v. Lily plopped down on one side of the bed. She looked around for the remote but couldn't find one. 'Let me guess, the t.v. is voice activated too.'
She decided to give it a shot. "Turn on t.v.". The t.v. turned on.
It was on some news channel. She left it on to see what was going on in this world. She must've been watching for a couple hours. Until he finally came in and with an empty tray. He set it on the desk and sat on his side of the bed. Well, more like on the very edge of the foot of the bed. As far as he could be away from where she sat on the bed. He was still giving her the silent treatment.
Not that she cared. She was absorbed with everything that was being shown on the news. Though some of it confused and disturbed her. A lot of it had to do with this demon infestation and how the gods have yet to address the situation. According to the news the body count from these monsters has tripled over the last few years.
There were rumors of barricade failure happening in some parts. Then it skipped from there to another story about people mysteriously going missing within the safety of the city and town limits never to be seen or heard from again. He finally broke the silence
"Seems these demons have been a growing pest problem for this world for quite sometime." Frieza stated.
"Yeah, and apparently they keep talking about how the 'gods' are not doing anything to help. I must say this is a lot to take in; gods, demons, heaven, hell. If there are really gods up there and their not willing to help the mortals. It almost makes you wonder if they want us all wiped out to begin with." Said Lily.
He moves up the bed and leans back onto the pillow with his hands behind his head. "It's not our problem. The only thing we need concern ourselves with, is making it to our prime destination. Then getting back to our own reality."
"That is what concerns me. Did you remember what the sorcerer said? Once we got there, we need to somehow contact these gods. In hopes that they can send us back. But if they don't care to help out these people against these demons. What makes you think they would care to assists two mortals in getting back to their own universe?" She asked.
'He hate to admit it. But she has a point.' "We will figure something out before we get there. We cannot make premature assumptions. For now, let's focus on getting there first. It's quite obvious these demons won't make it an easy journey for us. We need to find out the best way to avoid them without letting them slow us down." Frieza explained.
"If that's the case, in the morning we have to see about renting or buying a mode of transportation. It will be easier, faster, and safer that way." She stated.
"Hmmm, fine I'll go along with it. At this point, anything is better than having to walk the whole way." He told her.
'About time we agree on something.' Lily leans back on her own pillow.
"Now turn off this wretched video tube. We should rest up as much as we can, before we vacant the premises in the morning." Frieza told her.
Lily's had a long day as it is. Considering some rude jackass tossed her out of bed at the butt crack of dawn this morning. So she obliged and turned off the t.v. Then got comfortable under the covers while he stayed laying on top of the covers.
They had about twenty-two minutes of silence. Before they started hearing sounds through the wall, right behind their heads. Within moments, it got louder. Both their eyes flew open when they realized what all that noise was. Apparently, a young couple next door thought it the best time to get down and busy. On their bed on the other side of the wall. And Christ were they loud! Frieza growled and wrapped the pillow around his ears. While Lily had a better idea.
She reached into her bag and pulled out her iphone and headphones and hooked them up. She hit shuffle on her playlist and cranked up the volume. After several minutes of squeezing the pillow tightly over his ears proved futile. Frieza looked over to Lily, to see her relaxing peacefully and heard what sounded like music coming out of some wires in her ears. He tried holding off. Until a particularly loud moan followed by some banging sounds from the other occupants headboard finally got to him. He poked her shoulder.
She was dozing when she felt him poking her. "What is it?"
"Little One, I ask that you share that musical contraption with me...before my ears start bleeding." He said, while clutching his ears.
Lily momentarily turned her head to stifle a laugh. But she felt bad that he had to hear all that. She pulled out her left earphone and turned onto her left side so that ear was buried into the pillow. Then gave him the other half. Unfortunately this meant he had to turn and face her. Holding the earphone over his ear, while keeping his other ear buried in his pillow. Since the wire wasn't meant to stretch that far. They had to get fairly close to each other. Once they were settled, Lily hit play and music poured out to muffle the groans, moans, and banging come from next door. She played another one of her favorites.
"There's contempt
And there's scorn
Not sure which one
Hurts More
There's an absence
Of light in the sky
There's a darkness
That keeps me alive
In the vast and the empty
Burns a cold that you left me
In the vast and the vacant
There's an anger that's patient
And it's coming for you
And it's coming for you
And it's coming for you
And it's coming for you
So push me
And find out
What I do
Just to take the pain away
'Cuz my blood's on you now
So push me
It always ends the same
Don't know if
I can change
Or get back
All that you took away
In the vast and the empty
I'm still aching with envy
In the vast and the vacant
There's some karma that's waiting
And it's coming for you
And it's coming for you
And it's coming for you
And it's coming for you
So push me
And find out
What I do
Just to take the pain away
'Cuz my blood's on you now
So push me
It always ends the same
So push me
And find out
What I do
Just to take the pain away
'Cuz my blood's on you now
So push me
It always stays the same
It always stays the same
So push me
And find out
What I do
Just to take the pain away
'Cuz my blood's on you now
So push me
It always ends the same
So push me
And find out
What I do
Just to take the pain away
'Cuz my blood's on you now
So push me
It always stays the same"
'Hmmm, as far as music goes that wasn't too bad.' Frieza thought. He looked across at Lily, to find her dozing off. By the time the song was over. It sounded like all that nauseating noise next door finally subsided. He put his 'borrowed' earphone on the bed between them. She took it, turned off her phone and threw it back in her bag. She turned back around and closed her eyes and finally was able to fall asleep.
Frieza however lied awake and seemed to be a bit restless. The moon outside was full and cast a light into their room. It lit up her features as she lay there still facing him. He studied her more closely. As far as human's go, she's considerably quite attractive. Lily had a soft oval face with high cheek bones and soft full lips, framed by dark hair with lighter brown and red highlights in between.
Her petite nose and cheeks were dotted with a few freckles. She had a small gem protruding from one side of one of her nostrils. Lily also had bright blue eyes, that looked like her world's oceans. Another thing he came to admire, is she's actually a little smaller than himself. Normally a lot of females he met in the past, stood at least a head taller than him.
But when she'd pick a fight with him they were eye level with each other. Frieza watched while her eyes went from a calm ocean blue to a raging sea storm blue/grey color. 'Oh yes, when this is all over he'd definitely take her as a play thing.' He smiled wickedly, and pinched a lock of her hair between his fingers. As the night went on, he too found himself falling asleep.
I think it's safe to say, quite a few of us had a run in at a hotel or two like that. I actually found it funny writing in that part. How both their reactions would be. Sadly, it also looks like Frieza is taking a rather dark interest in Lily. Until next time ;)
I don't own the song or lyrics in this chapter. This song is owned and off the, 'Peppermint' Movie Soundtrack. The title is 'Push Me' (feat. Ash Costello)-Geno Lenardo
If you haven't seen the movie yet, check it out. It's a totally awesome movie starring Jennifer Garner. And this song is featured in the movie's end credits.
