Hope everyone recovered from that last shocking chapter. It was quite disturbing to say the least. In case you missed the warnings. I did mention at the beginning, that this story was Rated M due to contents of gore and violence. If it was too much for some viewers, than I highly suggest they don't follow up with this story. Because there will be some more future chapters with the same contents. Don't worry, there isn't any in this chapter though. There maybe some dark moments, but not like those in the previous chapter. Enjoy :)
Growing up, Lily never believed she was capable of hating another person. She was never close with her elder siblings and for the most part couldn't stand them. But that still didn't mean she hated them. It wasn't until she was in her college years, that she met the one she truly did come to hate. 'Joe', was his name. That motherfucker sure put her through the ringer that year. It wasn't until he came into her life. The horrible predicament he put her through that made her the mess that she was. This was long before landing in the DBZ Universe. Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, PTSD were the parting gifts he left her.
Yet, what she had just seen those few days ago. What she saw Frieza did, made Joe seem like a goddamn saint in comparison. And at this moment, she hated Frieza. Hated him with every fiber of her being It's been over a week now, since that traumatic encounter. She still barely spoken a word to Frieza since. Also, since they obtained their hover car they didn't really have anymore run in with demons.
Sure, some spotted them on the road and gave chase. But when Frieza stepped on the gas, he left the demons back in the dust. Yes, he was so determined to get to their location. That for the past several nights they didn't stop to rest. He drove on through the night. This didn't sit well for Lily at all. It made the insomnia worse and on at least two separate occasions suffered sleep deprivation. Not good, last time she suffered one too many nights of sleep deprivation it landed her in the hospital for three days. No, she had to break the silent treatment, now.
"Frieza, please. We have to find somewhere to stop and rest. We've been driving non-stop for days now. I've barely been able to sleep and I'm extremely exhausted. Please, we have to stop." She begged.
He looked at her for what seemed like the first time in days. She looked gaunt, her face was pale and there were deep dark circles under her eyes that almost made them look sunken in.
He nodded. "I'll stop as soon as I find what looks like a safe location. Just hang in there a little longer, Little One. I assure you it will be soon."
She sighed in relief and leaned her head back on the headrest. 'How quickly he forgot how often her kind needs sleep. He needs to be more careful from now on. He can't have her expire from his callous mistakes.' He drove on for another hour until the woods dissipated and the trees gave way to open fields with mountains in the distance. Frieza spotted multiple lights in the field to his left a couple miles north. As he got closer, he could see what appeared to be many strange looking torches. His curiosity peaked, he looked back at Lily then looked back ahead to the lights.
It was then he made his decision. He went off the road and started for the source of the lights. Surprisingly it was further than he thought. It took another two hours before they got close to the lights. Once there, they notice a surprisingly big number of people there. It was a rather large camp situated in the mountainside. He slowed down as he got close and a few people started approaching them. Lily opened her eyes when she heard the commotion of people. A small group of men stopped by their car.
"Where you headed sir?" One of them asked.
"If you don't mind, we need shelter for the night. My friend here is exhausted from our long strenuous journey and is in dire need of rest. Surely you can spare a spot for us if just for the night." Frieza informed him.
The man was about to respond when he heard a shout from behind the group of men. "Let them in Theo, I know them. They're not a threat."
The voice in question made his way to the front of the group. It was Carter! The man they first met when they arrived. He became increasingly concerned when he saw the stated Lily was in. "We have plenty of room guys. Come on over and we'll get you situated."
The man 'Theo' gave Frieza one last glance before turning around and headed back towards camp. Frieza followed closely in the car until they came to the edge of the camp. He at first thought it odd that such a group of people were out here. Especially with those creatures roaming around. That is until he noticed a familiar barrier surrounding the camp. It wasn't nearly as big as the one back in Elysium. But big enough to keep the camp secured. They got right to the front of the barrier. It parted to let all of them through before quickly closing back up again.
Carter came over and directed them to an empty space to park the hover car. Lily came out first and greeted Carter. She smiled. "Hey, never thought we'd see you again. How is everything?"
He smiled back. "Everything is fine here. Just been traveling west to Passiah. We made a pit stop here to set up camp for a while. Then we'll probably be on our way in a couple days."
"That's cool, but I thought you said it's not safe spending the night out here because of the demons." She said.
"That's what the barricade's for. To keep them out and away from us. Plus, a lot of armed men and women here with weapons. Strong enough to slow them down in case we got to make an emergency evacuation. What are you guys doing in the neck of these woods and where you headed?" He told her.
She opened her mouth to reply.. "We are headed west same as you but our destination is regrettably a lot further I'm afraid." Said Frieza.
Carter drew his eyebrows together. "I see, are you okay Miss? I didn't want to say anything before. But you really don't look too good."
"I'm afraid all this traveling has taken a lot out of me and I'm very exhausted. I don't mean to be rude and cut the conversation short. But is there somewhere I can go lie down? I'd greatly appreciate it." She told him.
"Sure no problem, right this way Miss? I'm sorry, I don't think I caught you name last time we met." Then gestured for them to follow.
"It's Lily, and this is Frieza. Sorry to say, he's not much for talking." She told him.
He waved her off. "Nah it's cool, I had an uncle who was the same way. When the salesmen use to come to his door instead of telling them to get lost. He just pulled out his big old semi C-8 and fired a warning shot in the air. Which quickly sent them packing."
She let out her first chuckle in over a week at that statement. "That's one creative way of telling someone to get off their property."
"Yeah, well I wouldn't expect anything less from a former air force pilot who flew during the Cilean Conflict." He told her.
She had no idea what that was. Only speculated it must've been some previous war this world experienced in it's past. They went past numerous tents, until they finally stopped at one near the end. He opened the flap for them to go in. It had a small homey feel to it. To the far left corner, sat two of the most comfortable looking beds she has seen so far on this trip. They were next to each other with a small row in between them.
"You want me to bring you in some food? Or you going straight to sleep?" Frieza asked her.
All she wanted to do was crawl under the covers and pass out. But her stomach protested the idea and demanded food. "We'll go for some food first. Though you don't have to bring it here. We'll follow you."
He nodded. "Okay, right this way."
With that he left the tent. She turned to Frieza before leaving. "I'll be back soon. You can either stay here and wait for food like you did last time or come with. But I'm not staying in here to eat. I'm starting to miss conversing with other humans."
With that she left, missing him flinch when she said 'humans.' He sighs. 'He's not stupid. He knows why she has been avoided him for over a week now. Of course he'd overlook that she was not use to being exposed to such violence. Frieza can't believe he's thinking this, but perhaps he did get a little..No, he went completely overboard with how he handled those bandits last week. He's not at all surprised, she's finally seen him for what he truly was. Lily was right, he IS a Monster. For the first time in his long life, when she called him that...it actually stung.
Yep, Frieza's in the doghouse now. And I don't blame Lily at all. The real question is will she ever forgive him? Guess we'll have to read the rest of this story to find out. Until next time ;)
