The touch on her skin was gentle which was the first thing Aria noticed when she woke up. What she noticed second was that Pride was the one holding her as he brought them to the surface using shadows. It was weird to have the oldest Homunculus holding her as if she was something precious to him. She'd fully expected him to leave her down there while he went to get his mom. It was what she would've done. Instead, he was holding her, caring for her, she found that strange. She never asked for his help.
Blinking as she saw sunlight, Aria stared at the sky realizing that from the quiet the battle was over. They'd won. Relaxing fully she allowed a small smile to cross her lips despite the inquisitive expression Pride wore. Stepping off the shadows he set her down gently ready to catch her if she fell. It took no time at all for them to be noticed. Most of the humans tensed ready for a fight the instant they noticed the small Homunculus at her side.
"Aria!"
Ling's shout echoed in the suddenly silent courtyard as he charged toward them much to Edward's horror. Stopping a few feet from the girl he looked her over for any injuries causing Pride to roll his eyes at the action. The boy looked like a puppy rather than a warrior. Greed and the others followed him over although Greed seemed more wary than amused. It was unsettling to see such a dark glint in his younger brother's eyes, but he doubted Greed would do anything.
"Never thought I'd see the day when the great Pride cared for a human," Kimblee stated only after he'd made sure Aria was alright. The man laid a gentle hand on her shoulder causing the girl to brighten.
"He's Uncle Pride now," Envy stated with a stern tone.
"Envy," Pride warned feeling his shadows curl at his feet. The warning did nothing to ward off his sibling's grin.
"Don't growl at me it's true and you know it," They teased without fear. Both knew Pride wouldn't do anything.
"Doesn't that make you an uncle too," Ling asked as Lan Fan came to stand beside him. Turning his attention to the woman he missed the sudden pout on Envy's face.
"Princeling you're supposed to be on my side," They whined sounding more like a child than anyone remotely dangerous. Rolling his eyes at their antics, Greed moved to stand beside Aria who offered him a small smile.
"Good job," he said softly. Laying a hand on her head he felt her lean into his touch.
"Greed tell the girl she's your daughter. She wouldn't believe me," Pride ordered taking back control of the attention.
"Wh-"
"Oh, this should be good," Kimblee mused as Aria whined. Hiding her face in her hands she tried to ignore the conversation as her skin turned red.
"Wait, that makes Kimblee the mom," Envy said seemingly proud of their deduction. Paling Kimblee turned to the homunculus with a dangerous glint in his eye as a light sheen of pink dusted across Greed's face.
"What!"
"He tucks her into bed at night! I saw it myself," Envy announced putting the final nail in Kimblee's coffin. Kissing his murderous reputation goodbye, the man felt his fingers twitch. Narrowing his eyes he snarled ready to destroy the Homunculus who only just realized the danger they were in.
"Envy!"
Flinching at the growl, Envy backed away slowly as the crowd watching raised a collective eyebrow at their fear-filled response. Chuckling nervously they muttered an apology that amounted to nothing as Kimblee stomped toward them intent on getting revenge. Deciding that running was their best option, Envy spun on their heel rushing in the opposite direction as Kimblee who simply smirked. Stilling the man crossed his arms all too happy to allow the Homunculus to tire themselves out before he started the hunt.
Ignoring them completely, Greed kneeled laying his hands on Aria's shoulders to draw her attention. The only thing it did however was cause her to sink even further into her hands. The small whine that left her lips changed to a squeak as he gently pulled her into his arms. The girl trembled against his chest not knowing just what she should do in this situation. His touch was warm as he ran a tender hand through her hair.
"Of course you're my daughter," he whispered causing her to walls to drop. The admission snatched the air from his lungs. He'd never thought there would be a day when he admitted that he saw her as his daughter. It had been so long since she'd gone from his Alchemist to someone far more important and somehow along the way, he'd never gathered the courage to tell her that.
Clinging to him she nodded against his shirt as Pride huffed. Throwing an inquisitive glance at his older brother, Greed saw him discreetly point at the humans approaching them. Apparently, during their emotional reunion, Edward had gone to get his brother's body back. It didn't surprise him that now the humans were going to try containing the only remaining Homunculi in the world.
Kimblee shifted putting himself between Greed and Mustang who was leading the group. The Armstrong woman was beside him although her arm was in a caste, it was obvious she would take a much harsher approach. Putting a cocky smirk on his face he dared the woman to speak and from her glare, she wanted to. Envy brushed against his arm as the Homunculus came to stand beside him, from the glare Mustang gave it was clear he'd learned just who killed Maes. How amusing.
Grinning Kimblee waited for the two to make a scene, something he would enjoy turning back on them only for Riza to come and lay a hand on Mustang's shoulder. Ling was watching closely as he kept an eye on Pride who was smirking at the assembled crowd. Mustang's request for them to follow him to a secure location was met by a raised eyebrow from Kimblee which only fueled the man's temper. It was Greed that accepted his request and allowed the man to lead them to a half-destroyed office to talk.
After that, it was clear that a line was drawn in the room with Mustang's group containing, Olivia Armstrong, Edward, Riza on one side of the room, and their side on the other. It would've been laughable if not for the fact Greed was ready to simply get the hell out of Central. Their plan had always been to leave Amestris as soon as they dealt with Father. With Aria tucked against his side he felt just relaxed enough to listen to Mustang. The man was lucky that he was in a good mood and hadn't decided to simply wave him off. Having three Homunculi in his group, counting himself, he could and would walk out of Central without a care in the world.
Listening to the man thank them for helping with saving the country he raised an eyebrow noticing Kimblee smirk beside him. It was obvious the man found the situation amusing or gratifying. It was hard to tell with him. Catching his eye Greed was rewarded by a small subtle touch to his hand. Running a hand through Aria's hair he turned his full attention to Mustang who finally finished the empty platitudes enough to get to the point of the conversation.
"We cannot allow Envy and Pride to stay in the country with all the lives they've taken. There is also the matter of Kimblee's own crimes," Mustang began only to be interrupted by Envy scoffing. Rolling his eyes the Homunculus stepped forward causing Mustang and Riza to tense.
"Gonna slap him with war crimes? Might as well charge yourself for the same thing," they snapped sarcasm in their words. Raising an eyebrow the dark-haired teen dared the two to speak as Kimblee chuckled.
"Silence Homunculus," Olivia ordered trying to regain control of the room.
"No, you be silent woman! We dealt with Wrath and helped save your country when we could've walked away. You will do nothing to any of us is that clear," Greed snapped causing her eyes to narrow. He couldn't tell if it was for the woman comment or him ordering her around but he didn't care. Releasing Aria, who knew enough to stand back, he moved to the front of their group putting himself between them and his possessions.
"Do you count Pride among that number," Riza asked coldly.
"Yes," Greed said without hesitation. He was unaware of his brother's stiffening. The easy acceptance wasn't something he'd expected from his younger brother; not after he'd tried to kill Aria. Staring at the man he'd once considered a coward, he waited for Greed to take it back instead the man said, "Besides we'll be out of the country within the month."
Ling resisted the urge to grin when Greed confirmed that they would be coming to Xing with him. He couldn't wait to show them around his country, he was sure that they would all love it, and besides that now that he was going to be Emperor he could make real changes in his country. Plus Aria would love seeing his palace. Having her meet his parents was a bit stressful but nothing he wasn't willing to deal with; besides nothing could be worse than explaining to Greed that he had feelings for his daughter.
Feeling giddy, he didn't notice Lan Fan exchanging a look with Fu who simply gave a grave nod. The excitement of their prince was more amusing than it should've been especially considering the situation could go horribly at any moment. There was also the fact that Ling's siblings would not take his appointment Emperor well. That wasn't even mentioning that it seemed Ling would be courting a foreigner by the time they arrived home. Watching Ling try to gain Greed's permission to court Aria would be amusing.
"Very well, I-"
"Wait! Pride needs to see his mom," Aria stated interrupting Mustang. Gaping at the girl Pride felt both relieved and a bit shocked that she would try to help him. From the expression of stunned disbelief, neither Mustang nor Olivia had expected her to speak up either. The fact she had her hands on her hips and was glaring at them both made her look adorable, not threatening.
"While that will be possible soo-"
"Not soon now. She's his mom, he wants to see her. I won't let you refuse," she said fully ready to fight if she had too. Narrowing her gaze she ignored the sound of Ling quietly cooing behind her and Kimblee chuckling in favor of staring down Mustang.
"Does he," the man asked turning his attention to the homunculus who tensed under his gaze.
Fighting off the military? Yeah, he could do that. Assassinating those that disagreed with their cause? Sure where does he strike? Talking to his mom and explaining everything to her? Was there a different option he could take? He would rather hide under a bed, he was small enough, than tell her he was a monster. However, he needed to see her. It was the only thing he wanted for himself. Having Aria ready to snap and snarl on his account helped him realize that fact but it was Greed's knowing nod that really gave him the courage to step forward.
"I… yes," he said finally. The arrogance was gone from his tone as Aria smiled softly. Straightening he announced, "I want to see her."
"Fine."
(Two hours after the fall of Father)
Miranda Bradley had believed the world was ending when her husband's train exploded. It terrified her that the military would try to kill her but more than that she wanted her son to be by her side. She had no idea if she would ever see Selim again until he walked right into the studio with a tall dark-haired man by his side. Seeing him had stopped her from noticing the horrified glances shared between the soldiers. The battle was over, she heard the man mention that much but she was unable to listen any longer as she collapsed to her knees. The startled expression on Selim's face was echoed by him rushing to her side only to stiffen when she pulled him into a hug. Feeling his hands hover above her skin she only relaxed once her son returned her hug.
Watching the pair closely he should've missed the longing glow Aria had in eyes but he didn't. This reunion had been her idea and she'd fought Mustang for it too. The fact his little Alchemist had raised her voice to snap and snarl for Pride was shocking but what had shocked him more was that she was fully prepared to fight for his brother. Reaching out before the girl could notice, he tugged her against him and held her there with an arm wrapped around her shoulder. The girl relaxed turning her attention back to Pride.
They were the only two that decided to come with him. While she would have liked Ling here too, the boy was off tracking down May and her panda. She had no idea why he wanted to track her down but she guessed it had something to do with them being siblings. Either way, Lan Fan and Fu had followed after him to ensure he didn't get in trouble or simply get lost in the city. Kimblee and Envy had run off to get supplies and purchase train tickets to Dublith. She just hoped that they got new clothes, walking around with blood on her clothing was annoying. Almost as annoying as the hasty bandage she'd wrapped around her arm. She knew that having someone check over her wounds would be a good idea.
Pride mumbled comforting words to his mom that only seemed to make her sob harder. Hearing Greed order the humans out of the room, he gently pulled away from her knowing that they only had a day at most to leave Central. There was so much that he had to tell her both about himself and what would happen next that he had no idea where to start. Well, that wasn't completely true. Looking behind him he gently nudged Aria toward them with his shadows. The girl stiffened but slowly pulled herself away from Greed who decided to stand guard at the door.
"Mother, this is Aria," he introduced causing the girl to throw a glance at Greed. Holding out his hand to the girl, he wasn't at all surprised that she hesitated. Her nervous expression was focused entirely on his mother who was studying the girl through blurry eyes. After a moment she took his hand letting him tug her toward his mom as he said, "she's my niece. The brute in the corner is Greed my older brother."
Aria trembled her grip on Pride tightening at his words despite the fact that he said them softly. The urge to run away was held in check by the gentle way Pride held her hand. His mother looked between the three of them before straightening. Wiping away her tears, she ordered her son to explain showing them the woman Wrath fell in love with. Smiling softly Pride kept a grip on Aria's hand as he told his mother everything from the moment he was born to the second he was defeated. With every word she seemed to pale until he got to the parts about meeting her and Wrath. It was hard to explain how he'd felt nothing for them at first until he admitted that she was his mother. The woman he'd grown to love due to nothing more than her kindness.
The fact that she was pulling him into a hug after finding out how many people he'd killed chased away every thought he'd had that she would shun him. Shaking he didn't notice the gasp Aria let out until the girl was pressed against him. He could sense her discomfort as his mother tried to comfort them both. Feeling her shift, he heard Greed chuckle before his mother was pulling away and announcing her intent to pack a bag. Glancing at the dazed girl who seemed horrified that the woman had invited herself along, he smirked. Squeezing her hand one last time he released the girl before trailing after his mother who mentioned something about getting new clothes. It would be nice to get out of the torn and bloody clothing he was wearing.
(Ling)
The thing about his family was that they were all more likely to stab each other in the back than sit down to have a conversation. That was why sitting here on a roof talking to his little sister was so strange. The girl had refused to leave Alphonse for long periods of time so he'd invited her to have this talk on the roof of the hospital where the Elric brothers were recovering. He could see a bit of their father in her features mainly her dark hair and nose. It was a known fact that her mother was blonde; something that most saw as a stain on her position as princess.
"I plan to unite the clans," he stated catching her attention.
"That won't happen," she said disbelief in her voice. Every clan was related to the royal family and they were all too proud to allow someone to control them. It was the entire reason the Emperor had taken multiple wives to avoid bloodshed. At this point, no one person would have all the power in Xing, not even the Emperor himself who longed for immortality so badly he would send his children out to find a myth.
"It will, I won the race, all the clans have to listen to me," he said. He would in fact be going to see each clan before going to claim the throne.
"The Emperor will not allow that to happen," May snapped crossing her arms. Chuckling at her tone he leaned back.
"I know," he agreed. He'd decided while training with Kimblee; who should never be allowed to teach children, that he would become Emperor no matter the cost. Looking up at the sky he sighed before asking, "will you be staying here?"
"Just until Alphonse gets better," she admitted. Smiling slightly she rolled her eyes when he chuckled.
"I'll protect your clan little sister."
Taking a moment to stare at him, she considered calling him a liar, before relaxing. She believed that he would try to protect her clan and all the others. She knew that he would try, it was written all over his face. However, she could also hear what he wasn't saying. The only way to become Emperor without being chosen was to win a trial by combat yet to even gain a trial he had to have the support of over half the clans. Instead of pursuing the subject, she sighed in defeat despite the sudden dread she felt.
(Kimblee)
So Ishval was fun. Seriously he'd never had more fun blowing people up until he'd been locked away. Now however he was being confronted by Scar who he vaguely remembered. He was pretty sure that he'd killed the guy's brother and maybe his whole family. Given that they'd been in a group it was hard to remember individual faces but he could never forget those tattoos. Part of him wanted to take the man apart and study him into he knew how they worked, but he couldn't do that with the amount of time he currently had.
Right now he had to buy the tickets and make it back to Greed before Envy did. He couldn't wait to see the man's reaction to the new coat he'd gotten for him; it had fur. Hearing a growl from the Ishvalan being held back by Mustang he smirked. At least this would be interesting. He wasn't really fully recovered from the fighting earlier, so he was hoping to simply walk away without starting another battle.
"So you wanted to talk," he said raising an eyebrow. The dark smirk on his face caused Mustang to pale a bit in remembrance of Ishval but it was better than his psychotic grin.
"You killed my brother," Scar snarled straining against the hand holding him back.
For a moment, Mustang wondered just how he got in these situations. It was obvious that both he and Scar had decided to confront Kimblee at the same time but he mostly just hoped that he would now be able to keep Scar from killing the man. He agreed that Kimblee was too dangerous to leave unsupervised but he also knew that the man was leaving the country. He was going to let him go and later have him branded with a kill on sight order. If they fought Kimblee right now it was possible that the man might kill them both: Greed would if he didn't.
"I've killed a lot of people's brothers," Kimblee said with a shrug. It was obvious that he didn't really care if he'd murdered Scar's brother. If he had the time he would've loved to destroy the Ishvalan but they needed to be out of Central by dark. His lips tilted into a grin when Scar growled at him; the Ishvalan was making it really hard to keep from tearing him apart. Biting back the part of him that wanted to simply blow the man to pieces he bared his teeth saying, "easy grumpy. We just killed a would-be god, don't make this weird."
Bristling both men sneered. The only thing both the Ishvalan and Flame Alchemist agreed on was that Kimblee was the worst person in the world. They would have both rather punched him in the face than stood there and listened to him mock them. The smug bastard was smirking at them too knowing that they couldn't do anything against him. Seeing the man glance away from them they followed his gaze to the approaching form of Envy. The Homunculus was wearing a black trenchcoat but it was easy to see it was still him. His arms were laden with bags most likely filled with supplies.
"Solf, I found the clothes! Do you think Aria will wear this dress," Envy asked as they dropped the bags a few feet away before reaching down and pulling out a pink dress. Twitching at the use of his first name, Kimblee resisted the urge to roll his eyes before shaking his head.
"No."
"What about this one," Envy asked before holding up a yellow dress. Which was actually worse than the pink one.
"No."
"W-"
"Don't ignore me," Scar snapped gaining both their attention. Envy frowned their cheerful expression changing to something dark and dangerous but they held themself back from attacking.
It was Kimblee that was the real threat at the moment. His blue eyes had darkened becoming more black than anything else as his lips curved upward into a dark smirk. The all too willing desire to fight was written all over his face. Shivering slightly at the expression, Envy hid a snicker behind their hand. While they were angry, Kimblee had taken the words as a challenge.
"Look, I appreciate the whole I must get vengeance thing, really I do, but we don't have time to cater to your issues. Get a therapist," Kimblee said his tone a lot less cheerful than before. Sneering at the tone, Scar strained against Mustang who knew all too well what would happen if Kimblee let loose. Turning away from the two, Kimblee smirked at Envy who had horrible fashion sense asking, "I thought you were going to find Greed?"
"He's at Bradley's old house," Envy stated. It was enough to let Kimblee know that Mrs. Bradley would be joining them on the way to Xing. "Besides I needed advice."
"Aria won't wear pink," he said shutting down the idea immediately.
"What about yellow?"
"No… try blue," he advised hoping that Envy would look away long enough for him to burn the two dresses he'd already seen. Brightening the Homunculus leaned down pulling out a light blue dress that was definitely better than the two he'd been shown before.
"So this one," they asked gaining a nod.
"Aria is your daughter then," Mustang asked in what he hoped was a casual tone.
"Maybe," Kimblee teased. The mocking tone caused Envy to smirk while Mustang bristled.
(Aria)
She'd never thought about what would happen after they won. All her thoughts had always been on the next battle or training. She had never considered that there might be something more after this. It was true that they'd made plans to travel to Xing which was terrifying in its own way. She trusted Ling, but leaving the country wasn't something she'd ever thought she would do, just as she'd never thought she would travel to another world after selling her soul. Either way, there was nothing to be done about it now. The decisions had already been made and she was just happy to get out of her combat attire.
Standing in the room Mrs. Bradley had allowed her to borrow, she couldn't help but frown at the girl in the mirror. Her black hair had been washed getting out the dirt from being tossed around by a Homunculus and now fell down her back like a curtain. It helped that while it was only partially dry, her hair had decided to cooperate rather than be annoying. The sky blue sundress she was wearing was another thing entirely. For one she'd never worn a dress before and it was a bit weird but the white leggings helped her feel a bit better about it. Of course, the fact Envy had also talked her into wearing a pair of light blue flats was also strange. They were acting like she was a doll to be dressed up.
Twisting slightly she felt more out of place than she ever had but she didn't have to fight right now. Reaching up to tug on a strand of her hair she nodded to herself slightly before straightening. The urge to hold her pendant was overwhelming but she pushed it down. After dinner, they would be heading back to Dublith to collect Bido and the remaining Philosopher Stones. Then it would be a month-long journey to cross the desert to Xing. Walking to the door, she opened it to find Ling on the other side. Raising an eyebrow at the boy, she briefly wondered if he was alright when he seemed to short circuit.
His face turned a subtle shade of red as he realized that Aria looked really good in a dress. Shifting nervously at the inquisitive expression on her face he had no idea how to react to her. He'd come to escort her to dinner but seeing her now he had to wonder how she would look in some of the more elegant dresses from Xing; just imaging her by his side at a royal party made his heart skip a beat.
Barely stuttering out the offer to walk her to dinner, he hoped that his hands were less sweaty when she nodded. Taking her hand he felt faint at the soft way her skin rested against his own. Her eyes were firmly locked in front of her so she didn't notice the goofy smile the older boy wore. It took him a moment to relax but after getting over the sight of her in a dress, blue looked good on her, he was able to focus on his plans. He intended to ask everyone to help him conquer Xing and help protect the other clans. Either way, returning home was going to be interesting.
Hi guys, so this was a thing. Uncle Pride is one of my favorites, still considering if he should go to the Harry Potter universe with them. So far only Aria, Ling,
Greed, and Kimblee are going. Anyway, what did you guys think of this chapter?
stay safe and have a good day
