Chapter Five
Doctor Jamieson was extremely happy that his friend Captain Lee Crane is going to be a father again with the two tests that he done on Commander Rosemarie Crane with the answer being positive.
Her face was one pure joy with fixing her uniform before leaving to meet up with her husband in their quarters. No doubt he was going to have it out with her and Admiral Nelson later for when it comes to the safety of the crew and now adding his wife and Carol.
"Thanks Doc. Don't forget. Mums the word on the pregnancy?" She will repeat it again with the Seaview getting ready to move out to the South Pacific.
Walking through the corridors of the Seaview was electric with crew members anxious with the rescue mission in general. There were a great many new people that she had never seen before before she will run into Carol heading for her quarters as well nervous.
"Are you alright Carol?" She can see her face with nervous anxiety with being on the cruise after all this time.
"Nervous. You? I heard the page earlier. Did you happened to get your answer Rosemarie?" Since she knew what was going on with the pregnancy.
"Yeah I did and it's position. Please don't say a word to Chip about it since he's mostly a big mouth for when it comes to gossip?" Rosemarie let by a male crewmember needing to get to his position in the east aft missile room to check on the diving gear in case of being needed.
"How well I know Rosemarie about my husband having a big mouth. I will certainly keep your secret until it's Christmas time." Carol will say to her longtime friend.
Meanwhile Rosemarie needed to meet up with her husband in their quarters. And she had the biggest fear with having a fight with him no matter she was forced into the assignment.
Stopping in front of her quarters moments later. She had butterflies in her stomach from nerves and of course the baby. She had to be crazy to be doing this in the first place.
Lee was sitting at his desk reading a file when his wife walked in wearing her uniform. He looked up to say..."Your lost weight in the uniform Rosemarie? By the way what took you getting here?" He will asked as if he was owning her as a slave.
"Hey! What's gotten into you? Did you forget this is a big submarine getting around? And besides I was talking with Doctor Jamieson and Carol along the way. And don't ask me what the conversations were about." She stated with her words to have him think there was going on.
"I won't Rosemarie. I just wanted to say that you had every right to turn down the cruise with having to be somewhat dangerous. I know you won't be going on the rescue team as with Carol to rescue the civilians from the island.
"Lee I must tell you that I didn't have any choice in the matter. I was forced into it because Admiral Nelson asked me with restoring my commission for just this cruise. So the two boys will be watched by my sister Elizabeth and most of all Doctor Sylian Markovia Admiral Nelson's wife. So everything has been settled before coming here. Satisfied Lee?" She said in a huff...
"God forbid something happens on the cruise I will never be able to forgive Nelson of this fact." Lee will have said with throwing down the pencil in his hand.
"Lee take your beef out on Admiral Nelson. I have a job that needs to be done and right now with your anger I am going to be having dinner in the mess hall unless you have other plans?" She had to asked with the announcement being made by Commander Morton about leaving port.
"We are underway now. I will be having dinner up front with Cookie cooking steaks with myself, Nelson, Chip, Carol and of course yourself. Are you coming instead of the mess hall?" He knew her weakness for when it comes to steaks and potatoes.
"I am coming. I will meet you there after I check out the communications station on deck B since Nelson had added this department with some of the changes."
"Very well I will meet you up front in thirty minutes." Checking his black watch on his wrist.
Thirty five minutes later everyone was gather together for dinner while Colonel James Reeves was asked to join them as well with the extra table sleeves. They were going over the details of the rescue team with getting onto the island without them being caught by the terrorists.
"Believe me Admiral my team will be getting on without being seen. After months of training it's finally into place with the men." Colonel James Reeves was a handsome man with broad shoulders with salt & pepper hair.
Right away with Commander Rosemarie Cerley Crane walked over to the table with Captain Lee Crane to introduce the woman in front of them.
"Colonel Reeves I would like you to meet Commander Rosemarie Cerley Crane. Her field is Communications, science chemistry, lab, weapons and most of all an inventor for the Nelson Institute."
"Yes, I have heard and seen your wife Captain Crane at the Texan base research center with the space time continuum device that had been sidelined for the past few years. I understand the scientists have not been able to correct the space time flow." He will have said with the group listening on with the conversation between the two.
"Yeah I know Colonel. It's just too dangerous with not needing another subject killed because of the flaw." She will take in a deep breath.
"Any chance of getting the extra funds to correct the flaw?" His clearance level was very high since he used to work for the F.B.I. and one other agency.
"I wouldn't know. It has to go through the finance department of the Nelson Institute and the United States Navy and of course the Pentagon. I am just the inventor." She will say with everyone chuckling.
Colonel Reeves wasn't done yet with the conversation. "Maybe Admiral Nelson might be able to put a good word to those involved with the project? He asked with making Admiral Nelson somewhat uncomfortable.
Taking a sip of his water before putting down the ceramic cup on the table he sai: "I will see what I can do with checking into it. Otherwise let's all enjoy our dinner. Who knows what is ahead of us at this point?
