We're back with another chapter! We left off with Lily and Frieza leaving the City of Passiah. Of course, Frieza had to have the last 'Hurrah' against Carter before they left. Now they're back on the road again. Getting closer and closer to their destination. Enjoy :)
It's now been several weeks since they left Passiah. And According to the Navigation System they roughly only had one month left.
"Guess time flies when your dodging demons and crazed scientists." Lily says, as she draws a sketch of a rose in her pad.
"I hate to admit it, but those rods do come in handy in keeping those creatures off our backs." Frieza stated.
"Well, your best bud, Carter did tell us they provide good protection...the right kind that is." She teased.
"Don't even go there." He warns.
Lily just bust out laughing. "Oh come on, he was only joking. You need to learn not to take everything so seriously."
"I don't take everything seriously. I can be rather humorous when I want to be." He stated.
Lily just gives him a look of 'As If.' "Well I can disagree with one thing he said. I can't imagine an athletic cup being all that comfortable for you."
"Little One, don't make me throw you from this car." He playfully threatened her.
She gave him a puppy dog look. "You wouldn't do that. You'd miss me too much if you did that and left me behind."
He snorts. "I'm sure I can find someone else to entertain me just fine."
"Yeah okay, if you say so...Lizard Boy." She teased again.
They continued their playful banter until it got dark. The stretch of road they were on now was quite desolate. Instead of trees, it started resembling a desert. The landscape with completely flat, almost barren with a few patches of weeds here and there. In the distance there were some large mountains that stretched as far as the desert. It was here, they decided to pull over and make camp. Lily started unpacking the blankets. While Frieza pulled some fire starter sticks and a lighter from the bag. Within a couple minutes they had a small fire going.
He then took out the rods and placed them in a circle around their camp. Once he finished, Lily used her wrist com to activate the barricade which went up in a matter of seconds. Lily felt it really made the difference. Ever since they were given the rods she felt comfortable in the open at night for the first time in months. They sat pretty close to the fire. Even though it was still blazing hot during the day, tonight seemed to carry a cool breeze in the air.
"I have a question for you." Lily said.
Frieza inclined his head, letting her know he was listening. "Yes?"
"Since we're so close now. What are your plans for when you get back?" She asked.
He sighs. "Probably get back to my ship, and clean up whatever mess my force made in my absence."
"That's not really what I meant." Lily replied.
"I think I have an idea of what you mean. But I can't really answer it right now, Little One. For I'm not completely certain of what answer I can give you." Frieza said. She was about to say something until it turned into a yawn instead.
"Get some sleep. The sooner we sleep, the earlier we can wake and start the day." He added.
She obliged, only because she really was exhausted. Despite taking the sleep aide liquid she carried. Lily has been waking up a lot lately from the most unusual and vivid dreams. Other times it was nightmares about her time back at the lab. But many of these dreams have placed her in a completely different place and time. She didn't know how she knew, but the dreams found her on this earth roaming it's many different plains and areas. The people were dressed differently too. Kind of how they would dress in biblical times over thousands of years ago.
Some strange woman with long flowing black hair that reached her butt stood before some of the people on a hill above them, overlooking them. They appeared to be attending something in the fields. Crops most likely. Next thing she knew, the woman lifted her arms to the sky and in an instant it began to rain. Then just like how all the previous dreams ended. It was to the woman turning and looking over her shoulder at Lily as if she knew she had been there watching the whole time.
She said something to Lily. But she could never make it out because it was in some bizarre language she's never heard before. She sighs, 'Well I don't want to keep dwelling on it any longer. I want to at least try to attempt a full night's sleep tonight.' She rolled over and closed her eyes. Frieza stayed up by the fire a little longer before he too laid down to rest.
He awoke in the middle of the night to the sounds of whimpers and someone muttering. "No, stop."
He sat up and looked over to Lily. Her forehead was dotted with sweat and her head was jerking from side to side. This isn't something new to him. She's been having a lot of odd dreams lately for the last few weeks now. Coincidentally, they started not long after he rescued her from that underground lab. He went over to wake her. When suddenly she started thrashing in her sleep and yelling the same words louder. "No Please Stop!"
He doesn't know what's more shocking. The fact that she has never reacted to this degree to one of her dreams. Or the three words she uttered next. "Who Are You?!"
He went to shake her. "Lily?"
She screamed and her body began to glow. Strange glowing markings lit up her skin. Next thing anyone knew, a strong shock wave came from her body. It was so strong, it blew Frieza at incredible speed through the barrier. Several hundred feet across the desert. He came to an abrupt stop, when he dug his hand into the ground to slow him down. Then the ground began to shake. He darted as fast as he could back to the camp site. On the way, storm clouds rolled in and lit up the sky.
It began hailing shortly after. 'What the? The sky was clear a minute ago.' He picked up the pace getting closer to their spot. He finally made it back, and as soon as he stepped back through the barrier. It felt like he stepped into a whirlwind. Lily was still glowing and thrashing about. But now she was also levitating a couple feet off the ground. He stumbled his way over to her.
"Lily! Wake Up! You need to wake up now!" He yelled while shaking her shoulders.
But she wasn't waking.
"Forgive Me." He said, before he slapped her across the face.
She did awake, but whoever this was, she was not Lily. No sooner did he finish the slap, he quickly found himself on his back with her straddling his stomach and her hand wrapped tightly around his throat. He looked up into the strangest set of eyes he's ever seen. There were no pupils and the eyes reflected a yellowish green color. It looked exactly like animal eye shine in the dark night, when the light hits them just right.
He was trying to force her hand away. But she held tight and started speaking a strange but ancient sounding language.
"Lily? Stop, it's me. Release me, your not in danger." He grounded out.
Those glowing eyes narrowed and after a moment she finally released her vice like grip on Frieza's neck. He slowly sat up never taking his eyes of her and she did the same to him.
"Who are you? Where is Lily?" He asked cautiously.
She backed away from him and he gave her a once over, now that he can see her better. It looked like Lily, but at the same time it wasn't Her skin had an ethereal white glow to it and she was covered in bright glowing symbols. Her hair was much longer and pitch black. She spoke again, in that same bizarre language.
"I don't understand this language you speak." Frieza told the being.
"Forgive Me." The voice said.
It was an odd mix of Lily's voice and someone else's. Like two people speaking at once.
"Who are you? And what have you done with Lily?" Frieza repeated.
"Easy Child, she is still here. As an answer to your first question, I am Gaea, Creator of all you see here. I was awakened when someone disturbed my resting place. I saw this child and crossed into her being." She told him.
"Why? Why did you do that to her?" He asked.
"To save her, she would've died like so many others in that lab had I not intervened. And through her eyes, I have seen there is much to be done here. Someone has tip the balance here and I need to correct it." Gaea said.
"I'm assuming your talking about those demons?" Frieza inquired.
"That is correct. They do not belong here or on any mortal plane for that matter. I'll shall see to it that they can be sent back. The ones that won't go, will unfortunately be destroyed." She stated.
"That's good and all but I'd like for Lily to return now. This is something we cannot get mixed up in nor is it any of our business." Frieza informed her.
"That maybe, but if you two wish to go home; then you will allow me to complete this task before I send you back." She replied.
"How do you know about that? And did you just say You can send us back?" He asked.
"Of course child, I can do anything. As for how I know you are not of this realm. I looked into her memories and heard you two discussing it." The deity said.
"You say your, The Creator. Am I to assume you are a god then?" He asked.
"Goddess, and correct I am of the immortals. I created the other gods as well as the mortals." She told him.
"That's what this is all about. According to the humans, jealous gods were fighting with other gods over the mortals. And that's why they believe the demons were released here on earth. That someone talked the God of the Underworld into releasing them among the mortals to eradicate them." He stated.
Apparently she did not like the news she just heard and let out an unearthly deep growl. "Then I will go to the gods and settle this after dealing with the demons here."
"In the meantime, could you please let me talk to Lily?" Frieza asked again.
She tilted her head to the side. "Of course, I will take my leave now."
She then closed her eyes and the glow of her body faded back to normal. Lily started falling forward. But Frieza caught her before she hit the ground. She started to cry.
"I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I tried to get her to let go sooner. She thought you may have been a threat to me." Lily said, between sobs.
"It's okay, it's not you fault, Little One. I'm just glad your alright." He said softly.
She rested her head on his shoulder as he held her. "At least now you finally know what happened to me down in that lab."
"Yes, though I'm afraid there isn't much more we can do right now." He told her.
"I'm tired, I want to go back to sleep. I believe she will let me sleep peacefully now." Lily said.
He laid them back down and pulled the blanket over the both of them.
"I also forgive you for slapping me. Even if all it did was piss her off. But thank you for being there for me." She told him.
He smiles and tightens his hold on her. "I'll always be there for you, Liliana."
She couldn't help it anymore. She reached up and kissed his cheek and then lowered her head back down to his chest. His breath caught and pulse quickened by the tingling warmth from the kiss. At that point he stopped believing that emotions were for the weak. He leaned in and kissed the top of her head. Then he drifted to sleep.
This was an interesting chapter to write, It was also nice to finally introduce the Goddess Gaea into the story. Also it looks like Frieza is finally breaking down his walls and starting to accept his feelings for Lily. Until Next Time ;)
