Kim Possible: Vamped

"So, whatever is in her genes now also augments her apparently normal human manifestation," Betty realized as she saw Ron and Wade's first reports later that day.
Just then, Kim was curled up in the same bunk with Dana and still acting very protective.
"Judging just on my initial tests," Wade told her he reported his initial findings, "Her human DNA seems to have metabolized whatever viral component was introduced and that changed her molecular density on a scale I cannot begin to gauge. I'd say she is at least ten times normal strength, though, and her reflexes based on visual examination are at least five times normal. For her."
"Try twenty. She saw our best moves coming like we were in slow motion," Ron admitted with a groan, rubbing one of many bruises.
"Indeed," Yori agreed with a grimace of her own. "Possible-San obviously remains a peerless warrior and if she is as she says, rusty, I do not wish to see her honed anew."
"That brings me to the first of her nocturnal samples," Wade told her. "The initial results are not promising," he admitted.
"Explain," Betty asked.
"As I expected, the viral component introduced is obviously blood-born and constantly evolving. Hence, the constant need for fresh blood by its victims."
"Yet Kim changes….?"
"Yes. Remember, Kimberly already had an unstable and fluid metabolism from her many encounters with mad science over the years," Wade reminded her.
"Yes. I do recall she once remarked she now feared to have children."
"She did," Ron frowned at Betty as if surprised.
"With apology for the interruption, is it not possible that this is why she is so protective of young Dana-San? Perhaps, not just because she changed her, but because in her own mind Possible-San may now see the younger girl as her own child since she…changed her into her own kind?"
"That….makes sense," Wade nodded at Yori. "Kim has always been ready to champion anyone in need. If she did take on Dana and came to deem her….her own child, she would be more than protective of her. Especially if she seemed to be…."
"In danger. Keep Will away from them," Ron said now with a serious tone, "Or she might just kill him."
"Indeed," Betty grimaced. "Bottom line, Wade. Do you think you can cure her, or not?"
"As I said, the initial results aren't looking promising. But….. I may be able to ameliorate the hunger, and at least….mute the vampire's primary taint to the point a regular influx of synthetic blood would sate them and keep them….mostly normal."
"Define mute."
"And regular," Ron asked. "How regular?"
"If my current samples are close to scale, I can ease their hunger to the point they would only need to drink once a week rather than daily. Or, ah, nightly," he grimaced.
"And Kim's changes?"
"I suspect they are unique to her. Just as her immunity to certain traditional banes is likely unique to her. After all, if she was already genetically in flux, a new and still evolving viral taint would only add to that mixture and has likely made her….what she has become. Frankly, viral cures are hard enough. Dana may respond far better than Kim as a result since her core system is still ironically more stable than Kim's."
"Bottom line. Will they still constitute a danger to the public," Betty demanded.
Wade sighed.
"Dr. Director, Kim was always dangerous," he reminded her. "And yet she obviously remains very much herself at heart. Still, if I'm right, we can undermine a lot of the immediate concerns with this serum, and my blood substitute. She'd be no more dangerous than anyone else with a weapon out there afterward because she would be in control. Rather than viral hunger."
"I say go for it," Ron declared.
"One month. Give me one month without her or her….child losing control and I'll deem her cured. Or….suppressed."
"What are you thinking," Ron asked quietly with a knowing glint that might surprise those that didn't know him.
"There are still others like her out there, Ronald," Betty told him. "Well, other vampires. Other monsters. Those you don't usually encounter…."
"You'd be surprised what we have encountered," Ron said quietly as Yori only stared silently without comment.
"Right, well. My point is, Ronald, Kimberly would be the ideal agent to help face them for us. To help keep normal people safe from….real monsters. If she can be….."
"Leashed," Ron scowled.
"Useful," Betty countered. "I think we both know that Kimberly would never truly be….controlled."
"Goes without saying," Ron nodded. "So, if she changes, though, does the sun hurt her or not?"
"I'd say not."
"Wade," Betty asked him.
"I already tested the residual samples myself. Dana's cells are still highly sensitive to UV rays at the moment. Along with most of the usual banes of legend. They would likely kill her if they were used on her. Just as she was afflicted by the cage we used to catch them."
"And Kim," Ron asked, Yori being silent again.
"Apparently, in either incarnation, she can resist UV rays, silver, and even garlic."
"What about holy water," Ron asked.
"Wife's tale, Ron. Water is water. Plus, to be thorough I checked all the same by having Agent Sands borrow some holy water from a local church. It did nothing to either of them."
"But…."
"I wager it was a wife's tale that grew when a vampire was attacked by multiple weapons at once and someone decided holy water actually worked." Wade cocked his head, and remarked, "Or that's my theory just now."
"So, Kimberly has all the strengths of a vampire, but none of their real weaknesses," Betty realized.
"It seems so."
"Pretty sure a stake would still work," Ron mused.
All of them eyed him.
"What, I'm just saying…."
"Ron, that would kill anyone," Wade pointed out.
"Oh. Right. Not that we want to kill her. I mean…. Not now. Not if she's…..uh, safe," he stammered.
"I'll obviously keep working on the serum, but I should have two initial doses ready by this evening. Just after sunset. Which is just as well since Dana likely won't wake till then."
"And that's when Kim will….change," Ron grimaced.
No one commented on that one.

Dana was just waking, Kim with her, when they realized Dr. Director was standing outside the locked cell with Wade and Ron at her side.
"Kimberly," the head of Global Justice nodded. "We need to talk."
"Whatever. I don't think we've got any other appointments," she smiled blandly, her red eyes and fangs once more evident.
"You have one," Wade told her. "I want to give you both a vaccine that may help you. Dana likely more than you. Your….metabolism seems to have become an issue again," he explained to Kim.
"There's a surprise," she said, rolling her green eyes. "What about Dana?"
"I think the vaccine can ease some of the more severe debilities she experiences, and with a regular infusion of my synthetic blood, she should be able to live a slightly more normal life."
"When you say it will ease…"
"She likely won't be immune as you are, Kim, but it should make some of those banes she suffers now less painful for her. Bear in mind, this is my first attempt, and I will still be working on refining the vaccine so long as I can improve it. And you," Wade assured her.
"It's got to be better than last night," Dana told Kim, rising with her now. "I'm still sore from that….stuff."
"First, your vaccinations," Wade told her and lifted a syringe as Betty only then opened the cell door.
"I hate shots," Dana sighed.
"Me, too," Ron agreed with her.
Kim shot him a familiar look as Wade injected her and Dana both with whatever he had devised before he gave them small bottles of his blood serum.
"For now, just carry on normally. Well, ah, as normal as you can," Wade blustered. "It may take a little time for any changes to become noticeable."
"Just as long as it helps, Wade. Thanks," Kim added, taking her bottle, and all but pouring it down her throat.
"That is so good," Dana said. "I can't believe it's not real," she remarked as the blonde licked her lips.
"If that is all," Dr. Director said, "I'd like to speak to your two now on another matter."
"Do I even have to guess," Kim asked her.
"Why don't you," the head of the agency smiled blandly at her.
"You want to exploit us," Kim declared dryly.
"I want to employ you. You were always the best at managing unorthodox threats for us, Kimberly. I think you know now that we face far more than a few delusional madmen out there. You could be a good help…."
"I'll consider it. Only Dana isn't…"
"I think she can be trained easily enough. After all, she's already ahead of the game after she….transformed. Isn't she?"
"It's okay, Anna. Or…Kim… If I can help you…."
"First, we see what you can do. If I don't think she can manage, she stays behind until she can," Kim told Dr. Director.
"Agreed. I would no more field a novice than I would any other agent not ready for certain realities."
"Then explain Du," Kim quipped.
Ron and Wade both groaned.
"Use Gym Three," Betty told her with a scowl. "Your training also gives us time to see how Dr. Lode's serum may influence either of you," she added.
"Sounds good to me," Kim nodded.
"And, Kimberly. Welcome back. I'm glad you survived," Dr. Director told her.
Kim eyed the woman as she left, and Wade gave her a wan smile before saying, "I'll just let you get to, ah, work," he said and left behind Dr. Director.
"And, you," Kim asked Ron, surprised no one had locked the door behind them.
"First, I'll be showing you to new quarters arranged for you since you have proven you're not about to go all Drac and stuff."
"Drac," Dana frowned. "Seriously?"
"Ron is….Ron," Kim told her. "And after," she asked Ron.
"Then I'm your official escort while you're doing….whatever. Me, or Yori. One of us will be here to help watch you, and, ah, you know, keep you out of trouble."
"Right," Kim said, eyeing her longtime friend. "So. Yori," she asked.
"She's a friend, Kim," Ron said as he led the way out of the cellblock. "And, you know, she kind of helped….after…."
"I get that. I'm glad you had someone to watch your back, Ron."
"Well, she kind of understands our lifestyle, too. Turns out not many do," he sighed.
"I know. And, Ron. Thanks for being here. Just make sure you keep an eye on Will, too. I still don't trust him."
"See, now I know it's you. You never liked him," he grinned at her.
Kim only shot him a dark scowl.
"Right, you'll be sharing quarters here," he told them and opened a door for a wide, contained room with all they needed. "Naturally, you'll be expected to…"
"We get it, Ron. Don't worry. We'll behave."
"Actually, I meant you have to keep the place clean yourself. Because….I don't think you will get anyone in here brave enough to clean up after you."
"What," Kim hissed.
"Gym. Gym next," Ron said, and all but fled the room.
"He's kind of silly," Dana murmured as they followed after the fleeing monkey ninja.
"He always was," Kim told her. "But he's my best friend, and has been with me forever."
"So, should I call you Kim now?"
"Whatever you like," Kim told her.
"So, ah, how do you fight bad guys?"
Kim grinned now.
"That can be fun. Depends on who you're going after, though. Some of them can be a real pain. And never underestimate some of them. They can be clever, too. Or just plain lucky. For now, we'll start you out with basics, and see how fast you can pick up solid combat skills."
"You know, it may be my imagination, but I think I'm already feeling better," Dana told her as they stepped into the wide, open gym where Ron was talking to another agent.
"Really," Kim asked.
"Do you feel anything?"
"Not really."
"Well, I woke up still sore and aching. Only now I feel great. It's like all that leftover pain just faded away and it's totally gone now," Dana smiled. "I even feel like I could run a marathon," she enthused.
"Well, we'll see how well you manage a workout to start," Kim told her as she nodded at Ron and the agent with him.
"You're really going to teach me to fight? Like you," Dana asked as they stood there in the simple uniforms GJ supplied.
"I told you from the start," Kim told Dana as they stood in the gym and faced one another. "Anyone can learn. Trust me. With your reflexes and strength, you should be able to use martial arts that are more effective than most."
"But…will they really work on real monsters," Dana shuddered.
"To those men out there we are real monsters," Kim said quietly now after glancing at the GJ agent with Ron who was pointedly watching them. "But I noticed that the old vamp I faced was so stuck in the past he still fought like a primitive. No skill. No precision. Just brute force. Martial arts can trump that any time. So, ready to learn," she asked.
"For Amy," she nodded. "For Amy," she nodded again.
"And yourself, Dana. Don't worry. We'll keep you both safe," she promised. "Now, let's start simple. I favor this stance," she said, "And always focus on your balance. Ready?"
"Ready," Dana nodded, mirroring her stance.
"Right, then watch me," Kim said and began all but dancing through her moves.

"That kid learns fast," Agent Briggs said as he watched the two women in the arena that was currently off-limits to others for the pair's basic training for the past week.
"She has a most excellent instructor," Yori nodded at the agent, having come in to join them as she and Ron were splitting time to keep an eye on Kim since Ron still half expected her to bail if something happened to tweak her.
Like Commander Du.
With Wade still busy in the lab that meant he wasn't watching the pair as much, so Ron wanted to keep friendly eyes on Kim at all times. Especially with Will still making noises about how all threats should just be put down, and be done with.
The two were just winding down their latest workout when Dr. Director appeared with her usual grim visage.
"Kimberly. How is she doing?"
"Pretty well. Only I don't think that is what you're asking. Is it," the redhead who had washed out her dye by then asked.
"No. You have a mission. The question is, can Ms. Parker hold her own with you?"
"She can," Kim said, eyeing Dana with a nod.
"Then gear up, and report to the hangar. Your transport leaves in five minutes."
"Is it….?"
"We don't know if it's authentic, but we have reports of something that came out of the sea. Something that is tearing a tourist town apart even though there are no bodies left behind. Need I add you must be discreet?"
"Just get us there," Kim told her. "We'll handle whatever it is, or isn't."
Dana looked to her unlikely mentor but nodded in turn.
"Time to have fun," Kim told her with a smile.
Dana couldn't help but smile back in spite of a degree of nervousness.
