Kim Possible: Vamped

"Dear Amy, I know it's been a few months, but I just wanted to let you know I'm doing well. Anna and I moved again, but we're doing well. New jobs, and you would not believe it but we are both doing some hardcore civil service work. I can't really talk about it yet, but I'm saving up for that place of our own. At least, I hope you still share that dream. I have to go, but I just wanted to let you know I still dream of you and I miss you so much it hurts. Take care, and I hope you are doing well in college. All my best, Dana."
Dr. Director scowled at the copy of the email she had intercepted since she monitored all of the correspondence in or out of Global Justice. Especially correspondence from her unlikely agents. Only so far Kim had not tried to contact anyone. Dana, however, did seem to be trying to keep ties with her apparent girlfriend.
"Well, it doesn't tell us much more than what we already know. Other than the fact the apparent girlfriend is attending M State U in Montana," Will pointed out as he handed the hardcopy of the email over.
"I doubt there are that many Amy Sanders attending. Try to sift them and find out who was recently on a cruise from China from their hometown. It will only be to our advantage to know who she is if we need to keep Dana calm sometime, too," Dr. Director told her senior commander.
"And Possible," Will asked.
"Is still essentially herself, Will, so do stop trying to provoke her."
"I'm just concerned…."
"Even at her best, she was not fond of you any more than you cared for her. Only now she is far more likely to hurt you"
"Because she's a…."
"No, because her temper is more overt and her strength is so amplified that even she isn't always in control. Stand down, Du, and realize that she makes a very good weapon for our side for once. Or don't you recall that our last wolf hunt cost us, nine good men? Nine," Betty spat.
"You think she would really….?"
"I think she would. Because at her core, she's obviously still the Kimberly we knew. She's still trying to help. Or doesn't her last mission tell you that much?"
"How can you be sure she won't betray….?"
"Because her only victims to date have been men that were already the worse kind of predator, and they were attacking innocents. I don't see an issue that she stopped them. That is, after all, what we do, too. Consider, too, the two boys she let live in China. She could have easily slain them but realized they were just juveniles trying to play adult games."
"And those deaths in California?"
"Hardcore gang members killing anyone in their way? I don't see the issue," Betty quipped. "All our reports indicate the only deaths have been rogues or worse. I don't see the issue," Dr. Director echoed.
"Still…."
"And consider this, William. Silver doesn't stop her. It doesn't even slow her down. She could have broken out of that cage and torn through every one of us. She was giving us the chance to show her our hand. Remember that, Will. Now, you have your orders. Back to work. And find that girl. We may need her."
Will grumbled but left her office as Betty shook her head at him. He had always been envious, but of late she was afraid he was too close. And taking things too personally.

"Amelia Sanders," the one-eyed woman in a now-familiar blue uniform greeted her as she was led to an office in a very deeply buried agency she had not even realized existed. "Pleased to meet you. We've heard a lot of good things about you."
"You have," Amy frowned, looking around the Spartan office. "Uh, why? I mean, why am I here? I mean, I'm no one…."
"Actually, you might be quite important," she told her. "Tell me, what do you know about Dana Parker?"
"Dana," she echoed with an obvious degree of trepidation.
"Dana Parker of South End, Montana. Graduated Elston High with a 3.2 GPA, and has been in your company for almost seven years almost….exclusively. I doubt you've forgotten her," the one-eyed woman with an intimidating presence remarked.
Only Amy had felt intimidated since those men in blue had shown up at her college, flashed some kind of serious identification that had her professors all but bowing to them, and then escorting her out to some kind of strange aircraft that flew her halfway across the country in less time than she would have imagined.
"Is she okay," Amy blurted out. "She's not in trouble."
"Agent Parker is fine. She just returned from a recent mission with Agent Possible…."
"Possible? Not….Kim Possible? I thought she was…"
"A useful deception," Betty declared. "After all, who will see her coming if everyone thinks that Kimberly is deceased. You will keep that quiet. Right?"
"So…. Why am I here," Amy asked uneasily.
"To be honest, I'm concerned about Agent Parker's mental health. I believe she needs to see you, Amelia, to keep her from doing anything….foolish."
"She can be impulsive," Amy couldn't help but smile.
"Indeed," Betty drawled. "So, perhaps you will help us calm her down and assure her she is not being forgotten?"
"Yeah," Amy blushed. "I mean, of course."
"For my own curiosity, I happen to know she's written to you five times. Why haven't you replied to her correspondence?"
"The only computer I have is a laptop my folks supplied. Everything I do on it is seen by them," she said sourly. "Everything. So I can't even write Dana without…. Well, I can't write to her. I, ah, technically aren't supposed to see her for at least a year. My folks think…. They think I'll forget her if we….aren't seeing one another."
"I understand. Some parents can be foolish. We'll address that matter before you leave. Now," Betty said firmly, rising to her feet. "Follow me," she said and led Amy from her office.
Amy still wasn't sure what was going on here, or what Dana, or she had gotten mixed up in, but she followed the woman who all but marched up the hall after leaving that grim office. She could hardly do anything else. The woman just made her anxious, as if she had seen right through her with that single, glaring eye, and already knew everything about her.

"So," Dana yawned as she and Kim took seats in a conference room at Agent Briggs' direction. "Why are we here instead of in bed," she asked with another yawn.
Allen Briggs, their official liaison at Global Justice only smirked as he stood in the door as they took seats.
"All I can tell you, ladies, is that Dr. Director has a surprise planned."
"Not again," Kim groaned, and dropped her head to the table, muttering something likely impolite so far as Allen could tell.
"The last surprise we had was a stupid five hour physical by grumpy old men without a clue," Dana complained.
"I know how you feel, but Dr. Director said this one was a good surprise," Allen told them.
"You better hope it is," Kim muttered more audibly as she sat up again, still yet to change as the sun had not yet risen. Dana was only staying up despite dawn's closeness because Wade's serum had given her the strength to resist the usual weaknesses to a degree and that let her stay up longer during daylight hours, which made Will Du upset more than hopeful. Still, even Kim still got tired and needed rest.
Only Kim still thought Will just being a jerk anyway.
"So, another lecture," Kim asked blandly. "I'm telling you now, no one got bit. No one got hurt. Much. There was not even any preternatural threat. The hoods were faking a haunting so they could buy out the locals cheap to mine the area for their own profit. Strictly amateur hour."
"I already read your report myself. That's not the issue, Kimberly," Allen Briggs told her.
"No?"
"No. She is," Sam pointed, but he wasn't pointing at Dana.
He pointed at another blonde who was standing in the door with Dr. Director, gaping at the pair of them with wide blue eyes.
"Dana?"
"Amy," Dana gasped, and all but flew to her side, hugging her, and burying her face in her neck.
Allen watched her, as did Betty, but Dana only held Amy as she cried in relief.
"I've missed you, baby. God, I've missed you so much. You never wrote. Never called…."
"You don't have a phone, silly," Dana was reminded.
"Oh. Oh, right," Dana laughed weakly. "Can you believe it? We work for Global Justice now," she beamed. "I guess I can admit that now since you're here. You're really here," she smiled, pulling her to the table where Kim smiled at them.
"She missed you," Kim told Amy. "Guess you can tell."
"Maybe a little," Amy smiled, still staying close herself, but eyeing the both of them since they were so obviously…different. "I would have written but dad bugged my laptop and my phone. Anything I wrote would have gone right to him."
"You couldn't use a school PC," Kim asked.
"No. He's a bigshot alumnus, you know, so he made a deal with the Dean. I can't use anything but my laptop, which he monitors," Amy said bitterly.
"Jerk," Dana grumbled. "I thought…. I was worried you didn't….want to see me anymore. After that cruise, and then the stupidity in the city…."
She blushed and looked around.
"We know about your troubles, ladies. As we know that Kim managed it for you," Betty remarked.
"Wow. You guys are sneaky. Only I didn't realize you were Kim Possible, Anna. No wonder you took those guys out so easily. But why do you look guys like you're dressed up for Halloween?"
"Uh, Amy, I…. I guess we need to….talk," Dana said quietly as they went to the table where Kim still sit, joining her as she only then let her own smaller fangs show.
"Dana," the blue-eyed blonde gaped.
"Dana and I ran into a certain threat on our first mission together which….changed us slightly. She is still your friend and still loves you, Amy, but she has to drink a blood substitute now to stay healthy. Consider it medicinal after a…. Call it bad science gone wrong, and which blew up in our faces," Kim suggested.
"Yes. Bad science," Betty nodded. "You can keep that quiet, too, can't you, Ms. Sanders?"
"I'd never hurt you, sweetie. And, God, I've missed you, too," Amy said and hugged Dana back as the girl began to cry pale red tears as they hugged again.
"I suggest we give them some privacy," Kim said and stood up. "Dana. We'll talk later. Nice to see you again, Amy. I heard you are doing really well at MSU."
"You….heard," she rasped, looking at Kim oddly.
"GJ has a long nose," Kim winked as Betty glowered at her as she and Allen left to close the door on the pair.
"Bad science," Betty echoed once they were out of the room.
"I'd rather not tell her I turned Dana into a vampire to save her life from murderous thugs. She's not as…worldly as we are," she told Betty. "Still, that was a good thing you did for them."
"I do try to keep my word, and I swore to help you two. Anyway you need," Betty declared pointedly.
"No," Kim snapped just as knowingly.
Betty only arched a brow.
"It's not time to call my family. I'm not sure there will be a time. Let them think…."
Kim trailed off and looked away.
"Just let them think I'm gone," she said in a quiet voice.
"Are you certain?"
"They've spent the last year mourning me and thinking me dead. It's better than calling them up and saying I'm still alive, but I have a little vampire problem."
"It's bound to come out. You know how your brothers are. Sooner or later, even if I hate to say it, they are smart enough to find out certain matters. Just as Wade did."
"And we'll face it when it comes. If it comes. For now, let them think I'm gone," Kim stated bluntly.
"That's your decision," she said, noting Yori stood at the end of the hall, likely summoned by their raised voices. "Now, go tell your ninja friend you're not about to go mad."
"She knows. Yori is just the cautious sort," she said, waving at the girl who only nodded back.
"I guess I shouldn't be surprised you know about Yamanouchi, too."
"I trained with them one summer, back before Ron and I broke up," she admitted.
"I guessed. For one, you vanished that year after you graduated. Then you showed up with a lot of new moves that were remarkably similar to Tai Shing Pek Qwar."
"You know it," Kim asked in surprise.
"Know of it, but I never managed to incorporate it. Apparently, one needs a genuine teacher for mastering some of those moves," Betty remarked.
"Well, I had a few good instructors," Kim demurred.
"No doubt. I'll let your friends finish their visit. When they are done, have Amy returned to my office and I'll debrief her before we send her back to school. You may tell Dana we'll arrange discreet communications for the two of them as well, so she need not fall back into despair."
"Thanks. That will help both of them," Kim smiled now. Then abruptly tensed and shuddered as she turned human once more. The day dawning outside the hidden HQ.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to that," Betty scowled.
"Try living it," Kim sighed wearily, more tired than ever without her full preternatural strength.
"No, thank you, Kimberly," Betty said firmly.
Kim didn't reply as she left Dana to Allen who stood outside the conference room and headed for her bed.
