Back in 1977, Stan was awaiting Eda's answer for his proposal.

"So Marilyn, what do you say?" Stan asked her, looking hopeful. "Will you marry me so we can con and scam people together?"

Eda sighed sadly. It was true Stanley was her ideal match and she really fell so badly for this human but there really was no place for her here. She belonged in the boiling isles and plus just how would Stan feel if he found out he was married to a witch?

She knew she was gonna have to tell him the truth and that she couldn't marry him. That she belonged somewhere else.

Eda soon took a deep breath. "Stanley," she began and tried to work up the courage to reject him. "I-"

"Wait, before you say anything, let me tell you something," Stan grabbed Eda's hands and stared deeply into her beautiful yellow eyes. "Marilyn, I just know you're the right woman for me. I mean I dated plenty of women in the past but in all my travels across the country, I never met a woman more perfect for me than you, Marilyn. You're sneaky, you're a con artist and you're a criminal! You're like my female counterpart! You're the kind of woman I need and want in my life, so will you please marry me?"

Eda felt her heart flutter and tears came to her eyes upon hearing Stan's touching speech. This human really cared for her more than all the ex boyfriends she ever had back home. And she saw Stan's soft eyes and warm smile, as he held out the ring to her.

She couldn't just reject him and break his heart like that so she plastered a smile and said, "Yes, Stanley, I will marry you."

Stan placed the ring on Eda's finger and wrapped his arms around her lovingly. "Marilyn, you just made me the happiest man in the world!"

"Yeah," Eda said, her voice trailing off. This was okay for now, but she knew that she would have to find a way to break from Stan and get back home, even if it meant breaking his heart.

Stan and Eda were eventually married in a las vegas church and were now officially husband and wife, however barely 24 hours had passed when Stan noticed something different about Marilyn. She didn't want to go scam or con people at casinos and other places anymore and that she usually spent time alone thinking or looking out the window so Stan decided to confront her about this behavior.

"What's gotten into you, Marilyn?" Stan questioned, looking concerned. "We've been married for less than a day and you don't want to scam and con people with me anymore?"

"Huh? Oh, Stanley, I do! It's just, I'm tired and I have a headache," Eda lied, resting on the couch and placing a hand on her head. "That wedding really tired me out and I think I should rest a bit and rebuild my strength before I come back out there? I'm not in my best game ya know?"

"Ah, I see," Stan nodded, understanding. "Well don't worry, honey. Just rest up and I'll just con at the casino by myself and when you're feeling better we can con together once more!"

"Cheat and scam a lot of money for me," Eda made a small smile.

"Don't worry babe, I will," he kissed eda on the cheek. "See you tonight."

Once Stan left and closed the door, Eda sat up and started thinking. "Come on, Edalyn, i know it will be painful for you, but you have to escape from this man and come back home," She told herself out loud. "But how?"

Suddenly, Eda heard a car ignition start outside. She peeked out the window and saw Stan get inside his car, which was red and definitely looked like it was from the 1960s due to its look.

"Hmmm, Stanley's car…." As Stan drove away, an idea came to Eda's head about how she could very likely escape.

As soon as Stan came out of his car and disappeared into the casino, Eda, who had been secretly following him, came out of her hiding spot and walked up to the car.

She stared at it for a very long time and sighed sadly. "I'm sorry, Stanley, but this is for the best.

She used her magic and removed her Marilyn look and transformed back into her normal look with gray hair and pointy ears. She also used her magic to start the car and jumped into the driver's seat.

However, just a few seconds after she came inside, she started to notice a few feathers appear on her arm. Eda panicked, knowing exactly what this meant. "Oh, no, the curse I need to come home now!"

Her face dropped. "Just another reason why I can't be with Stanley…."

Before she left, she decided to write and leave Stan a quick little note. After she was done, she gave the casino Stan was in one last look, shedding a single tear.

"I'm sorry, Stanley," She whimpered before dropping the note on the exact spot where his car was parked and drove off into the night.
