Eventually, not too long after Eda stole Stan's car and left him behind, the young Stan Pines burst out of the casino with a nice little smirk on his face as he clutched all his gold coin winnings to his chest.
"Ha! Ha! Just look at all the coins I conned outta those people!" Stan cackled, eyeing the money proudly. "Oh, will Eda be proud of me once she gets a look at this!"
However, that smug look on his face instantly vanished once he discovered that his car was missing and not parked in the spot he parked it!
"What the- hey! Where's my car?!" Stan exclaimed, dropping all the coins he made in shock and grabbing his face in a panic. "I swear I parked it right here!"
He searched the entire spot and eventually came across a very likely clue. A clue in the form of a written note.
Stan frowned as he picked up the note. "Oh, so they left me a note huh? Probably cause they want my money winnings for it."
He immediately accused the people he conned at the casino of stealing his car and growled, making one hand into a fist. "Oh, when I find them, I'll-"
However as Stan started to read the note, his face softened and he became very emotional.
The note read this:
Hey Stanley.
Marilyn here. I am writing you this note to say I'm very sorry. I just can't do this anymore. I'm divorcing and leaving you behind. Now please understand, this has nothing to do with you. It's me. I'm just dealing with too many personal problems now and well I just think it's best if we break apart and I head home.
I hope you understand.
-Love your ex-wife
Marylin
P.S: I'm taking your car! Hope you don't mind! I promise to bring it back eventually!
After Stan finished reading the note, tears started to form around his eyes and a single tear splattered on the note.
"Marilyn," he muttered softly.
At this point he didn't care about the money he won nor that his precious car had been taken away by his now ex-wife. The woman of his dreams was gone and nothing could ever replace her.
"And so, Marilyn left me that note and drove off in my car," Stan explained to Soos back in the present. "And from that day, I never saw her nor heard of her again. Until now."
Soos continued sobbing. "Oh man, Mr. Pines! That story was really emotional and sad to listen to! But wait. How did you get your car back?"
"I found it at my house the next day," Stan shrugged. "It just came back somehow by magic. I don't know how to explain it but it just did."
"Oh!" Soos nodded. "But wait, why would your ex-wife want to see you again after so many years?"
"I have no idea, Soos, now keep driving and stop asking questions!" Stan ordered. "I think we're almost catching up to her!"
"Yes sir!" Soos saluted him and speeded up the car.
But deep down, Stan was excited to see his loving ex-wife again after so long and was more than curious to learn the truth as to why their relationship really fell apart those many years ago.
Back with Eda and King in Stan's car, Eda had finished wrapping up her side of the story.
"And so I just took his car and made up some excuse and came back to the boiling isles, I mean I loved him, King, I really did but I just couldn't be with him with this curse and all. And when I finally did come home, I just used the portal door to return his car to him and that was that. I never saw him again. Until today."
"Wow," The tiny demon finally stated after Eda had wrapped up her tale. "That's quite an interesting story, Eda. But why do you want to see him again after so long?"
"Eh, well, I originally did this to cheer you up so you wouldn't miss Luz when she's at school but I also wanna play a little catching up. See how good his conning game is after all this time. Mess around with him a little you know?" Eda smirked and winked.
"And will you finally tell him the truth? That you still love him and all?" King questioned.
Eda pondered long and hard about that then shook her head. "No, there will be time for that later. Right now, I just wanna have a little fun with him like the old times!"
"Oh okay! What kind of fun?!" King asked excitedly, eyes wide.
"You'll find out right now!"
Then Eda soon stopped the car near the forest and climbed out.
She took a deep breath and smiled, taking in the fresh Oregon breeze.
"Alright, this looks like a nice place to wait for him! Now to change into my Marilyn disguise before he shows up!"
Then Eda casted a yellow circle around her head and in a bright yellow light, she transformed into her human alter ego Marilyn with brown hair and her ears looking much rounded. She looked just as young and pretty as the Marilyn that spent time with Stan many years ago.
"Wow!" King exclaimed, eyeing Eda's new look up and down. "This is your human form? Why don't you turn into it more often?"
"I only use this in the human world to blend in with the humans when I do my trash collecting so they don't get suspicious, now pipe down! I see him coming!"
From the distance, Eda could see Stan and Soos driving up to the spot where she and King were currently standing and waiting on.
Coming up very soon would be the long awaited reunion of a lifetime….
