Chapter One: From One Home to Another

A faint heartbeat filled sounds within the little dragon's egg and he gurgled as he slowly moved about in the shell. The baby dragon took a deep breath before exhaling. A light outside of his egg showed moving shapes while inside the little dragon continued moving about slowly. The dragon could hear sounds like screeches and bellows coming from the outside world as he waited for the day to come and step into the larger world.

Plio: Some thing may start out big, and some things can start out small, very small.

The little dragon cooed while opening his eyes for just a moment. He could hear and feel movement close by outside of his egg.

Plio: But sometimes even the smallest thing can make the biggest changes of all.

DRAGON

Outside in the world, the little dragon's mother, a Mudwing bellowed as she lowered her snout to the eggs. She nuzzled the blood red egg in the middle before raising her head away from them. She smiled as she looked down at her clutch of eggs and was about to inspect them when a sound caught her ears. Raising up on her hind legs a little she turned to the left to see a flock of birds flying from a grove of trees. The Mudwing smelled for any danger, but nothing came to her. So thinking that there was nothing to worry about, she lowered herself back down. Then with a sigh she gently pushed the egg in the middle to the side with her paw.

The coming of a young Deadly Natter made her look down at the smaller dragon. The young spine dragon sniffed at the eggs before the Mudwing shooed the little one away. But the Deadly Natter came back and sniffed at the eggs again. With a roar, the Mudwing mother lunged at the Natter, but didn't follow the shrieking dragon when it ran off.

The little Deadly Natter ran towards another nest, but the dragon mother there roared it and made the smaller dragon run off with a shriek. The young Deadly Natter ran to the lake where other Deadly Natters and a few Hydras were either eating or drinking water. The Deadly Natter hatchling ran through the shallow waters and it scared a few birds off. The birds out flew the Deadly Natter and took off higher. The Deadly Natter looked up and watched as they flew away. The young dragon sighed before a quickly flying object took away its attention.

A Terrible Terror landed on a fallen branch not too far from the Natter. The Natter chittered as it moved closer. A dragonfly flew close to the Terrible Terror and it lunged forward before grabbing it with its jaws. The dragonfly disappeared as the Terror ate it but flew away when the Natter came running up. The Deadly Natter started to chase it and even tried to catch it when they neared the tree line. When it disappeared into trees the Natter followed it in but quickly lost sight of it. Jumping up into the air and hovering for a second with its wings to look around. The little dragon landed on the ground and continued to look around when something zipped by. The Deadly Natter followed the Terrible Terror deeper into the forest and saw that it had landed on a root. When it tried to get closer, the Natter made the Terror open its wings and take off again. But this time it landed on the tree trunk above.

But the sound of a dragon exhaling caused the Natter to think that it wasn't a tree. The Natter looked up to see as the bigger dragon started snuffling. The sound of low growling caused the little dinosaur to nervously look up. What the little one saw next frightened them the most. A head with a huge row of sharp teeth moved from out of hiding and opened its jaws wide.

The Deadly Natter turned and ran back out of the way. As it ran back to the others, it shrieked a warning as it ran. All the other dragons looked towards it as it continued to shriek. One Gronkle bellowed as it stood next to a hydra. The Deadly Natter continued to shriek as it ran when suddenly a monstrous dragon; a red wyvern came charging out of the brush with a roar. The bigger dragon ran on all fours to try and capture its meal. The wyvern looked down at the easy meal as the Deadly Natter continued crying out. But when the wyvern was about to chomp down on the smaller dragon, it looked up to see much bigger prey. With a roar it thundered past the Deadly Natter to a much bigger meal.

The incoming monster caused the other herds to turn and run away in fear. The Mudwing mother tried to defend her eggs, but with the rushing stampede it was proving to be difficult as she was knocked back by the other dragons. The wyvern continued to growl as it looked at the choices of its next meal. The Mudwing mother continued to try and protect her eggs, but she was knocked into by yet another dragon. When she saw that the wyvern was getting too close, the Mudwing mother made a hard choice before running after the stampede of dragons.

The wyvern let loose another roar as it ran through and stomped on the Mudwing's nest, crushing all but one egg. The remaining egg slightly jumped before sitting still on the rock. The wyvern growled again as a few other dragons were able to get away before looking to one that was lagging. An old Gronkle fell behind the others as it began to tire and glanced back in fear as the wyvern got closer. The Gronkle panted from all the running and looked fearful as it knew that it wouldn't make it. When the wyvern had come up beside the Gronkle, it quickly slammed its jaws down on the back of the Gronkle's neck and in turn making it shriek in pain as it fell on its side. The wyvern grunted when it let go and then bit down on the Gronkle's exposed neck. When it laid lifeless underneath it, the wyvern placed one of its clawed hands on its wings before raising its head and roaring. It started to feast while all the other dragons continued to run away.

A few yards back, the Mudwing blood red egg laid still, unaware of went on outside. A chittering sound from a Speed Stinger as it walked up to the destroyed nest. The Speed Stinger looked down at the Mudwing egg and inspected it to see if it was still fresh. It continued to chitter as it watched the egg and got its answer when the egg moved a little. With a quick grab with its claws, the Speed Stinger lifted the egg and looked about for signs of trouble before taking off with the egg in its clutches. It ran back the way that the wyvern had come and disappeared into the trees. The Speed Stinger soon came across a creek and ran up a root that touched into the water. Once it was on the other side of the creek, the Speed Stinger ran across another log to another section of the woods. The wood bounced a little as the Speed Stinger ran across it. When it came to the top of a hill next to the creek, the Speed Stinger came to a stop.

The Speed Stinger looked around again for any signs of danger, and when it didn't see anything it looked down at the egg in its claws. Then it simply dropped the egg to see if it would crack open, but it didn't. In irritation the Speed Stinger picked the egg back up before throwing it down, but it still didn't break. Then picking it up once again, the Speed Stinger tried cracking it by tapping it against the ground. When it still didn't break, the Speed Stinger tried to eat it shell and all.

As the Speed Stinger was about to bite down on the shell, the trill of another Speed Stinger made the first look around. When it wasn't looking, the second Speed Stinger quickly came in and grabbed the egg making the first Speed Stinger shriek. The first lunged at the second and tried to grab for the egg and the two Speed Stingers fought for the egg. They both had a grip on the egg and fought over it by trying to pull it away from the other. But soon their grip on it loosened and the two Speed Stingers tried to grab it but only made it go higher into the air. Soon it went over the edge of the cliff and fell into the creek. Both Speed Stingers watched as the egg disappeared into the water before floating away. When it was gone the two Speed Stingers looked to each other before getting into a slap fight.

The Mudwing egg continued to float down into a larger river as a Scauldron came swimming up to it. Thinking that it was something else, the Scauldron closed its jaws around the egg. But before it swallowed, it could feel what it was and spat the egg back out. Then with an eye roll, the Scauldron turned away from the floating egg.

The egg started to rise to the surface where two Monstrous Nightmares were growling and snorting at each other. When the egg popped up to the surface and it caused the two to stop for a moment. One of them sniffed the egg as it went by. When it was gone the two Monstrous Nightmares looked to each other with curiosity before bellowing at each other again.

The egg floated to a stretch of the river where a herd of Gronkles had come to drink. As the Gronkles lapped the water, it made the Mudwing egg tumble in the water. It was sent flying away from the herd when one Gronkle pushed its way between to others. As the egg was swept away by the current, a Salamance and it scooped the egg from the water with its jaws. The Salamance flew to the end of the river before diving down beside the waterfall. When it was but a few inches from the bottom of the falls the Salamance pulled up and flew past a few other flying dragons. It grunted its name as it flew through a canyon before flying up the side of it. They Salamance flew over a few trees and came upon a large gathering of dragon. It flew over most of the herd before flying underneath the tail of a hydra. It flew over the edge to another valley and started to make its way towards the sea.

Flying along the river to its end, the Salamance flew over the waters of the ocean and headed right for an island a few miles offshore. When the Salamance reached the island it saw its Bagon children sitting in the nest. The called out their names as they wanted whatever their parent brought them. But as the Salamance pulled up against a rocky cliff, a couple of Archeops started to follow up after it. The Salamance flew over the two Bagons and they watched as their parent was being chased. The Salamance and the two Archeops flew higher into the sky before the two smaller animals started being pests to the Dragon Pokemon. The Salamance tried to keep a grip on the egg, but soon dropped it. The two Archeops continued to be pests to the Salamance as it flew away while the Mudwing egg fell to the ground. It fell into a forest and scared away a few creatures.

Author's Note: I decided to end this chapter here because I wanted to start the next chapter a little differently than the movie. But I am actually like writing this story as I keep going. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
