Kim Possible: Vamped

"Mom, I'm home," Kim called out as she led Dana into the house where she grew up as James gaped, looked up at her, and declared, "Well, it's about time, Kimmie-Cub. I thought you were going to be locked up forever."

"Nah. Just long enough to let them know I was behaving," Kim told them.

"And they let you out already," the twin teen boys laughed.

"Kimberly. Welcome home, honey," Ann came out from the kitchen and hugged her.

"Shego might be by later, too. We left a note on the door. She's going to be staying with us for a while. She's GJ's new watchdog for the moment to make sure we keep behaving," Kim grinned.

"Shego," the boys laughed again.

"Boys. Enough. We're glad you're here, sweetie," Ann told her before letting her go, and then eyed Dana who was looking shy and staying back behind Kim. "And you must be Dana. Kim has told us all about you."

"She's my daughter," Kim smiled.

"Daughter," James frowned at them.

"Welcome to the family, dear," Ann told her without hesitation. "I hope you know you are more than welcome."

"Thank you," Dana sniffed, tearing up with faintly crimson tears at her welcome.

"So, I hope you got everything settled with that agency woman, Kim," James Possible declared, "And there will be no more silly disappearances."

"Working on it, dad. I just had to stay long enough to reassure Dr. Director we weren't going on a rampage or something."

"Well, of course not," James huffed. "Honestly, she should have known better. My little bubble butt would never…."

"Dad," Kim groaned now as Dana giggled at her mother's expression.

"So, are you staying for supper," Ann asked them.

"Well, not sure how long Shego might be, but we better. I cleaned out the fridge when we got back in, and it's totally empty now."

"Like you ever had much anyway. You couldn't cook enough to feed a…."

"Boys. Should I ask mom who has been having parties at my house while I was gone," Kim murmured. "The house you couldn't get into from the reports I heard."

"Boys…."

"Well, gotta go," Jim blurted as he jumped up, and turned to go.

"Call us for supper," Tim concluded as they both ran out the back door.

"I see they haven't changed," Kim smiled.

"They were really hurt, too, when you apparently died," Ann said quietly as Kim and Dana followed her into the kitchen.

"Yeah. At the time, I really thought it best. Just like I told you, mom, it took me some time to get a handle on….this," she said.

"But you're all right now. I mean, you both look much better," Ann remarked, saying nothing about Dana's appearance unusual appearance.

"Wade has really helped, and we've been….practicing a lot," Dana said. "Oh, can I help," she asked, seeing Ann start to peel potatoes while working on some other dishes.

"Of course, dear. So, do you like to cook?"

"I always cooked for Amy when I could," Dana admitted.e

"Amy?"

"Her girlfriend. She's great, too. Maybe she can visit when she's out of college," Kim remarked.

"We'd love to meet her," Ann assured Dana who looked uneasy now. "By the way, Kim, do you know Monique recently moved back to town?"

"She did?"

"Yes, she finally graduated that Italian fashion school she attended after business school, and came home to run those boutiques she opened. She has some lovely clothing, too."

"I should go by and see her. She always did have a flair for clothing," Kim murmured as Dana eyed her knowingly.

"And you didn't," Ann smiled. "Honestly, it was all I could do to get you to change at times. You'd rather have your slacks and tops rather than dress up…."

"Mom," Kim sputtered, wearing rumpled slacks and a tee just then.

"You don't help your mom," Dana asked as Kim just stood and watched as the two of them made the evening meal.

"Oh, Kimberly isn't very domestic, Dana. You'll find that out if you are living with her very long. It's amazing the things she can do, and yet she can ruin a kitchen faster than anyone else I've ever met."

"I'm not that bad," the redhead sputtered.

"Honey, you're the only person I know who can destroy a microwave making a frozen pizza."

Dana burst into laughter.

Kim muttered and glared as she sank into a chair to glare at her mother now, saying, "You didn't have to tell her that."

Ann only smiled and winked at Dana.

"Wow. And I was starting to think there was nothing you couldn't do," Dana teased.

"Watch it, girl," Kim grumbled.

The knock at the door sounded just as the family was about to sit down, and as Jim came back from answering it, Shego came in behind him to glare at Kim.

"Come over if I want to eat?" she demanded, shaking a note at Kim.

"Well we didn't have anything at the house by the time we cleaned out the fridge," Kim pointed out as she gestured to an empty chair as she finished setting out plates as her mother pulled fresh dinner rolls from the oven.

"You couldn't go shopping?"

"I, uh, wasn't sure what to buy," Kim sputtered.

"Food, you loon," Kim was told as Dana grinned at them both.

"I can buy food. I know that. Only I wasn't sure what kind you might like. I mean…."

"Oy. I'd better shop for myself, or all we'll have are protein bars and energy drinks."

"I am not that bad. I cook pasta all the time."

"Instant does not count," Shego spat.

"Dana, do you know Shego," Ann asked as the pair continued to snipe as if unaware of anyone else as Dana only grinned at them.

"We met recently," she grinned.

"Well, Kim and Shego have an….unusual relationship."

"I've noticed that, too. Mom told me a lot of stories about how they became friends."

"I'm glad you were found and got a second chance, dear. I think you're just what Kimberly needs in her life," Ann assured her.

"Thank you, and I really am glad she found me. Even after all that happened, I know I've been lucky."

"We're going to set some house rules if you're going to expect me to hang around and babysit you," Shego declared imperiously.

"It's my house," Kim protested.

"Kimberly, she has a point. Now calm down, and admit she probably knows more about what you need than you do," Ann declared.

Kim sputtered but didn't argue with her mother.

"And if you need any advice, Shego, feel free to call me," Ann added.

"Mom," Kim sputtered. "Whose side are you on?"

"Oh, were we picking sides," Ann smiled as she sat down after putting the food on the table. "Well, everyone, dig in. We have plenty," she said. "And, Kimberly, welcome home, sweetheart."

"Just don't every worry us like this again," James declared as he eyed her. "Honestly. In my day…."

"Dad, not now," Kim groaned and made everyone laugh.

Dana only smiled, thinking she had never been luckier in her life.

"Monique…."

Kim had no more opened the door when the young woman flung her arms around her and hugged her.

"Ah, Ron said he told you….about me," Kim said, currently alone in the house since Shego was still out shopping, and Dana was on duty that afternoon.

"After I had to wring it out of him. God, Kim, we all thought we lost you, and….and…."

"Come on in, if you dare," Kim wagged her brows.

"Don't even start," the dark-skinned woman shot back. "Listen, I need to talk to you."

"I guessed. It's been a while, hasn't it," Kim said, gesturing for to come in.

"The place looks….pretty good to be left empty for so long."

"Shego is living with me. She and my daughter are neat freaks," Kim admitted.

"Daughter," Monique echoed, freezing as she stopped halfway across the room as she turned back to eye Kim who was closing the door.

"I guess Ron didn't get that far?"

"He barely said anything. It was all I could do to get him to admit…. You don't look like a vampire bit you," Monique finally said.

"Well, come nightfall," Kim said, "I do let the other side come out to play. And since it is close to nightfall," she smiled.

Monique gasped as Kim shuddered, her hair darkened to a darker shade of red, and her skin paled as her eyes turned red and her incisors grew visibly.

"Was this what you expected," Kim asked quietly.

Monique just gaped.

"You… You really….died," she asked.

Kim sat down, and Monique surprised her when she came over, and sat beside her, hugging her.

"God, Kim, I thought you were gone. I thought I….we lost you."

"Well, this is me now. Think you can accept me," Kim asked.

"Ron told me everything else. I don't think you, or the you that counts, has changed. So, yes, Kimberly, I can accept you because we're still BFFs, and I hope….you remember that."

"I missed you, too, GF," Kim smiled, and leaned into the hug. "Only….I have to be honest…."

"I know you're gay, Kim," Monique told her. "I figured it out before you did," she smiled at her. "Let's face it, you might know all kinds of kung fu, and manage mad science, aliens and now monsters, but….you can be kind of….spacey when it comes to your own personal life."

"Oy," she groaned, "And now you sound like Shego."

"So, why is she staying here," Monique asked, only then releasing Kim.

"I guess you could say she's my parole officer. She keeps an eye on us for GJ, and they don't keep us locked up in their basement like a shameful family secret," Kim smirked.

"Yikes. So they really had you locked up?"

"Well, they thought they did," Kim grinned. "Only I really was trying to show them we weren't a threat. I lived a year on the run, trying to hide, and I didn't want to keep doing it. Honestly, it was a pain."

"You are still so silly," Monique said as she eyed Kim, her eyes brimming now as she just stared at Kim. "So, you can change back and forth?"

"Well, at the start, I changed to normal during daylight hours and went vampire at night. Then, I guess I….got a little better at controlling it, and now I only change if I want to change."

"Then why don't you….?"

"Dana can't change, Monique. I'm not kidding. She's like my own true daughter, and there is a reason for that. I don't want to stay normal when I know it would hurt her feelings to be the only one that looked….different. Just as I won't hide behind a mask when Kimbera is who I really am now."

"Kimbera," Monique frowned now.

"Let me explain what Ron didn't get, or doesn't actually know yet," Kim sighed and leaned back. "I warn you, it gets weird."

"Girlfriend," Monique sighed now. "You were always weird. Only that's okay. Hit me with the other barrel. I want to know everything."

"You asked for it," Kim told her, and began to give her the full story from her perspective.

Monique sat in silence after Kim finally stopped speaking, and just stared at her.

"Can I….see," she finally asked, just looking at Kim sitting there with red eyes and fangs.

"Don't freak," Kim said, and stood up, taking off her light jacket to hide the back of her specially made blouses she wore of late.

Monique said nothing as Kim dropped the jacket as she stepped back, and Monique gasped as Kim suddenly towered over her, flexing big powerful wings a darker red than even her dark crimson hair. Monique looked up at her, mouth hanging open, and before she could say a word, Shego opened the door, arms filled with sacks.

"What the hell are you doing," the older woman demanded at seeing Kim towering over the stranger who was staring owlishly as Kim.

Kim turned to her even as she instantly shrank back down as she went to help Shego who was balancing sacks she nearly dropped.

"Hey, Shego. This is Monique. Probably one of my best friends in the world," she smiled. "She just wanted to see my other side."

"And did you think to close the damn drapes," Shego growled, heading for the kitchen with the sacks she still carried.

"No one is going to be looking…."

"Are you nuts, Kimmie? People are going to be eyeing this house with a magnifying glass!"

"Now that is just silly," Kim sputtered as she eyed Monique, and then carried the bags she had taken into the kitchen. "We were just talking."

"And you didn't stop to think you didn't need to talk? Or that you were scaring the crap out of some girl that might go screaming for the police, or something?"

"I wouldn't do that to Kim," Monique said, coming into the kitchen behind them. "I love her," she said, and Kim almost dropped the last bag before she could set it on the table.

Now it was Kim gaping at the ebony beauty who only smiled.

"I was going to tell you before you disappeared on us. I knew how clueless you could be, but I had already figured out how much you cared by then. I was going to say what you couldn't," Monique told her, her brimming eyes now starting to leak hot tears down her cheek. "Only you died. You died, and I never had the chance to say….how much I love you."

"Monique," Kim gasped, and dropped that bag, and went to pull her into her arms.

"Air," the woman gasped as Kim squeezed her.

"Sorry. Sorry," Kim moaned and adjusted her grip. "Still working on controlling my strength," she said as she held Monique. "Honestly, I wanted to tell you. I wanted to tell you how I felt so many times. Only I was afraid I would ruin our friendship. You went from being like my unofficial sister to the sweetest, best friend I have ever had, and then…."

"Gah," Shego moaned. "Will you two take it in the other room? I still have work to do, and close the damn drapes before you give the neighbors another free show," the woman shouted as the pair smiled now, and turned for the living room hand-in-hand.

"She's grumpy," Kim murmured, "But she's actually a really nice woman."

"Hey, don't tell her that," Shego shouted from the kitchen.

Kim only smiled, and daringly kissed Monique's cheek.

"So, you don't mind if I'm a part-time vamp?"

"You do know that sounds weird even for you," Monique said, shaking her head as she wiped her tears away to stare at the redhead with bright eyes.

"What can I say? I'm just glad I could come back, Monique. This moment… It makes all the craziness, everything I went through while I was out there worth it. Because I love you, too. I love you so much," she smiled and kissed her again.

"Just don't leave me again, Kim," Monique told her.

"Never," Kim assured her, and they sank back onto the couch to sit huddled close as they just smiled at one another.
