Kim Possible: Vamped

"Hi," Dana smiled as Monique woke with a yawn to find herself still in Kim's arms, and a strange blonde looking down at them.
"You must be Dana," she said, and glanced up to see Kim's eyes closed, and her face looking normal again.
"Yeah. You must be mom's complicated friend."
"You could say that. She talked about me," Monique asked, eyeing Kim again who was still snoring lightly.
"All the time. Only she never said your name. Just that things were complicated, but she...that you were really someone special."
"I'm Monique," she told the blonde. "We've been friends since high school, but I guess after a while we became…a little closer…"
"That's cool. I could tell she missed you. It was tearing her up, too. Only at the time, she wouldn't try to see anyone because I don't think she liked people seeing her…that way and thinking she was just a monster now. I'm guessing you know about us, though, since you're not freaking out over my complexion?"
"She told me everything," Monique murmured, and Kim moved restlessly, and dragged her back to her side when Monique started to sit up.
"Hey, you wanna see something funny," Dana suddenly grinned.
"Okay," Monique asked as Dana easily pulled Kim's arm away, and let her get up.
"You'd better step back," Dana said, grinning hugely now.
"What are you….?"
"Sssshhh," Dana said when Kim started to move again, obviously disturbed. She looked around, and saw the drapes had been closed, and said, "Good, the curtains are pulled, so no problem."
"No problem?"
"Might want to step back a little more," Dana grinned as she moved behind the couch, and leaned over Kim's shoulder.
Monique frowned but moved back, and Shego stepped into the room just then and frowned herself just as Dana shouted, "Du, put that stake down!"
Kim all but exploded off the couch, transforming before her feet touched the floor, and snarling viciously as she looked around with outstretched hands forming vicious claws.
Dana stood looking at her laughing boisterously as Kim glanced around, frowning, and then fixed eyes on Monique gaping at her. Shego groaned and shook her head as Dana folded over the couch as she laughed so hard, and growled as she turned on Dana.
"No sparring in the house," Shego shouted as Kim raised a fist.
"I wasn't sparring," Kim shouted back.
"The look on your face," Dana laughed as she stood upright, and grinned.
"You will pay for that," Kim said. "I don't know how. I don't know when," Kim told her.
"No swearing vengeance in the house," Shego cut her off. "Now, the food is ready, so get in here and eat, and then you can both go to bed early."
"Who made you….?"
"You did," Shego shot back before Kim could finish. "Did you, or did you two not promise to behave, and listen to me if Bets cut you two loose?"
Kim sighed, shrank back into her own body as she sighed, and told her, "We did."
"Sorry, Shego. I was just joking around. You know how twitchy mom can be. It's not the first time she came out of a bad dream like that."
"You have nightmares," Monique asked now, coming over to stand beside Kim again.
Kim said nothing, and Monique hugged her, saying, "I think I understand."
"I guess you're staying?"
"If you don't mind. I think we do have more to discuss," Monique said, eyeing Kim.
"I, ah, didn't scare you," Kim asked her sheepishly.
"I'd already seen you," Monique reminded her as Shego led them to the table. "And I already knew how you would come out of even a solid sleep at times. Remember those sleepovers when you would freak out anyone around you when you suddenly woke up kicking and punching the walls."
"Really," Shego smirked now, eyeing Kim.
"Man. It was years ago," Kim protested.
"Actually, it was three minutes ago," Dana whispered to Monique.
"Oh, you're a real devil, aren't you," Monique grinned at the blonde.
"Sit. Eat. Behave," Shego told them. "Honestly, you're worse than Drew at times."
"You take that back," Kim howled as she started to sit down at the table made for four as if Shego had anticipated Monique staying.
"Sit. Eat. Behave," Shego grumbled. "Or I'll call your mom, Princess."
"That's low," Kim muttered and sank into her chair.
Dana only giggled.
"I'm surrounded by children," Shego groaned as she took her seat, and eyed the meal before them. "Just eat," she ordered.

Dana didn't wake until late the next afternoon, and Shego was waiting with her blood serum, and a warmed up meal.
"Thanks, Shego. Where's mom?"
"Your loony parent decided to personally go up and rescue your things from your old house. Apparently, she started thinking you should have your own stuff for your room," Shego said.
"Oh, no," Dana groaned.
"Don't worry. She cleared it with Bets and promised to be on her best behavior. I think. She can be devious about her promises lately, I'm guessing you know."
"Yeah. Mom can be sneaky."
"She always was," Shego snorted. "Only I thought you were able to stay up more these days. What's with the late-rising?"
"Oh, well, I can stay up longer. And get up….earlier, too, but I still sleep most of the day at times. Especially when I get tired or push myself too much. Like yesterday since they had me on that late day shift. Anyway, I still stay up more than I could at the start. Used to, the sun rose, and I crashed wherever I was, and no matter what I was doing. That one was a pain, trust me," Dana grimaced.
"Right. So, Princess never had that issue?"
"Not that I noticed. Sometimes it seems like she never sleeps. Then sometimes it seems like you can't wake her up. Day or night doesn't matter to her. She's up until she decides to sleep. Then you can hardly wake her up at all."
"So, she's not really changed that much," Shego sniggered. "Because she was always like that, girl. Trust me."
"I can see that."
"So, you think your family will give her much trouble?"
"My brother? Not a bit. It's just him and mom now. Only my family….wasn't ever really a family. My mom seemed to hate me from the day I was born, and she seems determined to make everyone else hate me, too. Then, when I came out to her, she decided I wasn't her daughter any longer," Dana said quietly, looking at her knuckled hands in her lap.
"Harsh," Shego said.
"Yeah. Well, I got lucky," Dana went on. "Just when I thought my life was over, Kim saved me. Just when I thought I was dead, and would never see Amy again, Kim saved me. I know some people wouldn't understand but… Kim really is the mother I always wished I could have had all along," the blonde told Shego. "When I was…reborn, I wrote off that old life and gave it to Kim. I knew she would care for me. She would….love me," Dana sniffed.
"Yeah. We argue, but oddly enough, we've been friends for a long time. Even before I officially quit the business. Could have knocked me over with a feather, though, when she stood up to speak for me and Drew when some of the agencies out there still wanted to bury us after that alien deal," Shego admitted.
"She's really special," Dana nodded.
"Yeah. Only that little loon doesn't look at the world the way we do. She thinks everyone should be nice, and be friends and she just can't understand it when people like your folks, or that twisted freak that changed her jump out."
"Kim once told me…. She told me that other her almost took over at the start. Only she looked at Ron and remembered he was her friend. She remembered her life, and she attacked that monster before he could even see her coming."
"It was always hard to play Kimmie," Shego nodded. "Because most don't understand her. They don't get that at heart she really is a freaking Pollyanna who thinks the world should be one big happy family. You upset that image, though, and God help you because she's going to tear you apart."
"Yeah. We're so lucky to have her," Dana smiled now, wiping her eyes that dripped red tears.
"Yeah," Shego sighed. "You just never tell her I said so. I have a reputation to maintain."
"I get it. Amy's a little like you, you know."
"Oh, really?"
"She kind of thinks I'm not always….grounded, and is always telling me I need to face reality, or it would…."
"Hey, Goldi," Shego called her when Dana started to look as if she might brood, "You made it through the darkness. You just remember that, and the bad times will fade away in time and leave you with only the happy times."
"How can you say that?"
"Because it's how I live. Do you think my life was sunshine and roses? When that damn comet hit, I lost my parents, and then my idiot brother tried to turn us into funny-book heroes but refused to face the fact we were just pawns for others trying to use our powers. That, by the way, is why I took off. I got sick of my brother's childhood fantasies ruling my life," Shego grumbled.
"I can see that. So you went out to show you were bad, and he couldn't stop you?"
"That was part of it. Then I met Kimmie, and…. Well, we started having fun," Shego sighed. "And don't you tell her I said that, either," she added.
"I get it. Believe me, I understand. We were both lucky she found us, weren't we?"
"Yeah," Shego said. "I just hope Kimmie doesn't do anything crazy if your….old mom gets nuts."
"Mom…. Well, she might get a little…. I'm sure Kim wouldn't hurt anyone. She promised Dr. Director she would stay calm and be polite."
Shego laughed now.
"I once saw Kimmie hammer a score of Henches into the ground while lecturing them on committing crimes on a holiday, and interrupting traditional family gatherings. No temper. No nothing. She was just smiling and lecturing them while breaking bones and putting guys in ICU," Shego told Dana.
"Wow. If that's calm and polite….?"
"I've only seen Kimmie lose her temper once in all my years. I never want to see it again."
"Really? Just once?"
"Yeah. You're old enough to remember Drakken's Lil' Diablo ploy…."
"Yeah. It wasn't real, though. I mean, we saw on it TV, but there were none of them around us."
"You must have a small town," Shego remarked. "Because I thought those stupid things were everywhere."
"Well, Montana is pretty isolated in places. And South End is really out there."
"I'll take your word for it. Anyway, Drak really played her on that one, and…. Yeah, she exploded at the end, and she almost killed me over it. Which is pretty darn hard to do, trust me."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Only then she actually moped and brooded over losing control like that for so long I had to actually beat her up to get her head back in the game."
"Seriously," Dana frowned. "Funny, she hasn't been very remorseful over hurting Will Du."
"Ah, but she kind of liked me even then. She's never liked Du," Shego smirked.
"Oh. It's just… Mom, you know, Kim hasn't shown me that, even when she's being….protective. She's pretty laid back, and kind of cool."
"That's Kimmie. You know someone has really blown it when her temper flares, though. Trust me, kid. You ever see her lose it, get low, stay there, and don't move until she's calmed down again."
"I take it back. I did see her lose her temper," Dana suddenly blurted, looking somber now.
"I thought she was pretty much under control…."
"When Gemini hurt me. He almost killed me, and mom…. She just….exploded."
"I heard."
"I saw her tear out of that cage like it was made of string. Only I passed out, and didn't see the rest."
"I heard about it. Count yourself lucky."
"I do. I'm lucky to have someone that cares that much about me. My mom…. My real mom…."
"Kid, from what you say, she was never a mother. Not really. I've seen enough in my life to know that one about an accident of birth not making someone a mother or father is real. You just stay with Kimmie, and I wager that little kook will be the best thing that ever happened to you."
Dana smiled again at that, and nodded, saying, "I already knew that one," she smiled.
Which was when they heard the Roth landing outside, and Shego groaned.
"She knows she isn't supposed to fly into this neighborhood," she complained as Shego got up to head for the door.
Even as she opened the door, Kim jumped out and declared, "We've got trouble."
