Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story. This one about War Hammer. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Warhammer; Games worship and a few others do.
There was billions of Space Marines. Thousands of soldiers, however? They fought for the side of the warp… For Chaos.
One of the marines claiming to fight for the Imperium? A simple grunt known as Grissom.
"Why have we not received reinforcements?" One of the Marines questioned only for Grissom to roll his eyes. "This land was to be claimed several days ago." The marine added as Grissom sighed.
The marine was young, but not stupid. Their campaign against the Orks had kept them bogged down. He knew the Emperor would not send reinforcements, despite his best hopes they would.
"We must hold fast." Another marine stated as Grissom turned to the soldier. "The emperor has not forsaken us yet nor will he ever do so." The other marine added.
"And how do you know this, brother?" Grissom questioned as the duo turned to him. "Our Legion has no commander currently. There will be no reinforcements, for we will be forgotten." Grissom stated to the duo.
"What you speak of is madness, brother!" One of the marines put in. "The emperor would never forsake his own!" The marine added which just made Grissom shake his head.
"And yet we have seen no end to this madness." Grissom stated before walking away.
He knew none of his brothers would listen to him. Grissom was loyal to his men, his 'brothers', as they were. But the emperor?
"With all the power he has?" Grissom questioned and shook his head. "He would let the lesser legions suffer and die. This campaign has been terrible since we were engaged in orbit." Grissom stated to himself.
He remembered taking part in the assault on the lead Kill Kroozer. It had been a trap by the war boss, and both his Commander and several officers were butchered destroying it.
The War boss had simply transferred command to another Kroozer. He left his men to butcher the Space Marines.
"And none of us even know what the hell he wants…" Grissom stated to himself before looking at his Chainsword.
This campaign had severed them from supply lines as well. Yes, their command had considered the Orks stupid, and now Grissom's men laid broken and butchered because of it.
"Poor space marine…" Grissom heard before pointing his sword at the voice. "So smart, and yet so stupid…" Grissom heard as the voice chuckled.
"Who dares call to me!?" Grissom questioned while the voice let out a disinterested hum.
"You already know your 'enemy'." The voice stated. "But what does the 'emperor' tell you? What lies have touched your thoughts?" The voice questioned as Grissom narrowed his eyes.
The warp, the eternal enemy of the Imperium. Filled with all manner of beasts and creatures beyond words. Yet Grissom had only the faintest idea of what they were. The Legions were not allowed to know.
"He tells me you are of corruption and vile temptations." Grissom hissed out, yet he did not move. "Why do you contact me?" Grissom asked the voice.
"Because out of all your brethren? You are the strongest and wisest." The voice responded "Those who believe this campaign can be easily conquered. Tell me, warrior… How many weeks has your legion been stranded on this planet?" The voice added to Grissom.
Grissom had little answer to that. The voice seemed to know anyway.
"Your commanders are fools too loyal to consider this planet lost." The voice put in. "You and your men will die as you said. They will be scattered into dust and left to rot… I'm sure they tell you sweet words of how every death is noble. How every loss will be sung a story in the emperor's name." The voice added.
Grissom said nothing, but there was little doubt his thoughts were swayed. He was tired of the war here with no end.
He enjoyed battle as did all his brothers… But this campaign? Grissom was not so stupid to think victory was assured.
Little did he know tomorrow that he would change. That he would be the very thing Space Marines were supposed to hate.
A Chaos Space Marine… That was what Grissom would become, a warlord whose name would ring through the very stars.
Author Notes
Phew. First chapter done! I want to point out that since Warhammer is MASSIVE on lore? I will be taking a few liberties and such. I also wouldn't consider Grissom a villain, not entirely. Next chapter will be in several weeks and will show Grissom and his men's final stand… Along with his start as a Chaos Marine. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Next chapter will be 1200 words hopefully.
