Chapter 2 - The Return
Alexa's pov
I was waiting on news about Caroline, Matt walked up to me. "I've rang Bonnie." He told me.
I nodded, "Oh god I forgot to ring her." I told him.
He looked at me, "It's okay, you're worried about a girl that was more of a sister to you than Elena." He told me.
I nodded and he hugged me, "I should have sat in the front seat." I told him.
"Hey if it was you in that seat Caroline would be doing what you are doing right now." He told me.
I nodded, he was right. "How is your neck?" He asked me.
"It's okay." I told him.
Bonnie ran in and up to us both, "Is she okay?" She asked us both.
"We are still waiting." I told her.
"How are you two?" She asked us both.
"She got wipe-lash." He told Bonnie.
"I'm fine, it hurts a little but I'm more concerned for Caroline at this point." I told her.
"What happened?" She asked us.
"We were driving, and Tyler heard this noise. He got this migraine and lose control of the car. I thought that Caroline was fine, Alexa stayed with her then she collapsed." He told her.
She nodded and saw Elena. "I'm going to fill Elena in for you both." She told us both and went over to Elena.
A doctor walked up to me, "Alexa Gilbert, John Gilbert was just brought in." He told me.
"What is he okay?" I asked him.
"He is fine, he was stabbed and his fingers were cut off. We were able to reattach his fingers and stitch up the wound." He told me.
"Can I see him?" I asked him.
"Soon, he is resting now." He told me and left.
I was even more of a mess now, Matt pulled me into a hug as Liz walked over to us both. "Hey sweetie, have you heard about John?" She asked me.
I nodded, "Yeah I've heard." I told her.
I pulled away from Matt, Bonnie walked over to me and Matt. "You should ring Jeremy." She told me.
"Why? What else has happened?" I asked her.
"He tried to O.D." She told me. I pulled my phone out and rang Jeremy.
He didn't pick up the phone but someone else did. "Hello, this is the gilbert house. This is Stefan." He told me.
"It's Alexa, is my brother okay?" I asked him.
"He is fine." He told me.
I sighed, "Thank you." I hung up on him and went back over to Matt, Liz and Bonnie.
"He's fine, Stefan is watching him." I told them all. I sighed as I felt my phone go off, I saw it was Mason.
I answered it, "Hey little bird. I'm on my way to Mystic Falls. Carol told me about my brother." He told me.
"Hey Mason, I'm sorry about your brother. I'm currently at the hospital Caroline is hurt and John was attacked." I told him.
"I'll be in town soon, get some rest and I'll see you soon." He told me.
"Okay see you soon Mason." I told him and hung up.
Bonnie left to get some rest, Matt looked at me. "Come on, you need rest. You can see John and Caroline tomorrow." He told me.
Liz gave me the house keys, Matt took me to Caroline's house. I opened the door and walked inside and shut the door. I went to the guest room and I drop on the bed.
Next morning I woke up and got ready and headed to the hospital to see John.
I walked into John's room, "Hey Dad." I said to him.
"Hey Alexa." He said to me.
"Who did this? Was it Damon?" I asked him.
He shook his head and he looked at me, "It was Katherine." He told me.
The door opened, Elena walked in with Stefan. John went to the emergency switch. "It's me Elena, not Katherine." She told him.
I gave John's hand a squeeze letting him know he was safe. "Why are you two here?" I asked them both.
"We know Katherine did this to him." Stefan told me.
"Oh and I suppose to believe that your here out of the goodness of your own heart. Wasn't yesterday your brother was threatening Jeremy." I told him.
John grabbed my hand, "Calm down Alexa." He told me. "Where is she?" John asked Stefan.
"You tell us?" Stefan asked him.
"Listen hero hair, my father has been in surgery and in here all night what was stopping you and captain forehead from looking for her." I told him.
Elena put John's ring in his hand. "Please, tell us why she's here?" She asked him.
John said nothing, good move dad. "She'll try again." Stefan told him.
"Well it's your crazy ex why don't you go and deal with her." I told him.
"Alexa please stay out of this." Elena said to me.
"Wow, finally she speaks to me. What you going to do have your boyfriends erase my memories like you did to Jeremy." I said to her.
She gave me a shocked look, "You know what I'm going to go and check on Caroline. You know the girl that actually treats me like a sister." I told her.
"See you John. Touch him Stefan and I'll let the sheriff know your a vampire." I told him.
I left the room John smiled at me, "Goodbye daughter of mine." He said to me.
I walked over to Caroline's room, I saw Matt and Bonnie. "Hey you two." I said to them both.
"Hey, how is John?" He asked me.
"He's okay, a bit shaken up." I told him.
"How is Caroline?" I asked him.
"Why don't you both go and see." He told me and Bonnie.
We both saw Caroline in bed awake watch tv. "Jersey Shore's on." She told us both. Bonnie and I hugged her.
"Careful still a little sore." She told us both.
We both pulled back and smiled, Matt kissed her. "Isn't he cute." She told me.
"You two are adorable together." I told her.
"Bonnie are you crying?" I asked her.
"I'm just happy your okay." She said to her.
Matt and I hugged Bonnie, "I love you guys." Caroline told us all.
"We love you too, Caroline." I told her.
"Are you going to the Lockwood's?" Bonnie asked me.
I nodded, "Yeah, they looked out for me you know. I owe it to them." I told her.
I felt Caroline grip my hand, "I'll give you a lift." Bonnie said to me. We both hugged Caroline good bye.
We headed to the Lockwood's, Matt was going to join us later. We saw Tyler and I hugged him, "Sorry Tyler. Is your mum inside?" I asked him.
He nodded, "Yeah, thanks for being here Lex." He told me.
I walked inside and saw Carol. She spotted me, "Alexa dear." She said hugging me.
"I'm sorry about Richard." I told her.
"Thank you dear. He always looked to you like a daughter after what happened with Miranda and Grayson." She told me.
"I'm glad." I told her.
"Alexa, this is Damon Salvatore." She said to me.
I looked at him, "Nice to meet you." I said with a fake smile.
Mason walked in and I smiled, "Hey Mason." I said to him, he hugged me.
"How are you Lex?" He asked me.
"I could be better." I told him.
He nodded and hugged Carol. "I'm going to find Jeremy. See you both later." I told them both.
Mason smiled and hugged me again. I saw Jeremy walk in with Jenna, Jeremy hugged me and I hugged him back. Jenna gave some food to Carol and walked over and hugged me.
"I missed you." She told me.
"I missed you too Jenna." I said to her.
"Where are you staying?" She asked me.
I saw Liz walk over, "She's staying at my house. I'm her god mother after all." She told Jenna.
Jenna nodded and walked off, I let out a sigh. "Have you eaten?" Liz asked me.
"Would you believe me if I said yes?" I asked her.
She shot me a look, "Come on, Caroline is fine. Let's get you some food." She said taking me back to her house.
No one's pov
Caroline woke up in her hospital bed to turn the tv off. "Elena?" She asked her.
"I'm Katherine, I want you to give the Salvatore brothers a message for me." Katherine told her.
"What? What message?" Caroline asked her.
"Game on." Katherine said, taking a pillow and killing Caroline. Katherine moved the pillow and walked out of Caroline's room smirking.
A/N - I've been writing a lot of this and Lights Go Out also, listening to the Silent Hill ost has helped me a lot and rewatching vampire diaries over this pandemic has helped a lot.
