Chapter 3: Getting To The Root Of The Problem
They say that every traveler that goes on a perilous journey has their first taste of danger awaiting around each corner.
But for the two problem children know as Izuku and Bakugo, nothing has happened.
"Tch and I thought this place was dangerous, that extra was just being a coward. Note to self, don't take anyone's experience seriously." Bakugo thought, Mido was talking up this forest like it was chalked full of monsters waiting to kill them. But all he saw was just trees everywhere, with no monsters to show for it.
He looked towards his counterpart just looking around the area as a lookout for any creature, scoffing at his careful watch around him. What was there to worry about? A leaf stabbing him in the arm or something.
However the blond did feel the forest feeling a little bit off and decided to have his guard up slightly... Just in case.
Never can be too careful, you know?
The journey towards the tree was so far a quiet one. Both Bakugo and Izuku were definitely in unfamiliar territory being in this deep in the woods. But both were concentrated at the task at hand, but also on edge from being attacked by any monsters that might jump out and attack them.
Despite Bakugo's earlier thoughts...
They kept following Iida, as the blue fairy lightened the way through the darkened woods, the cover of so many deku tree's blocking out any kind of sunlight. The wooden area around them saturated in the forest energy around them, the grass a healthy green and tree's growing from The Great Deku Tree's influence around them. However the mood of the forest felt vastly different from the feeling of the village of the Kokiri's, this deep forest of Deku tree's didn't have the secure aura of safety.
In fact being this deep in the forest it felt like a dark presences was around them, Izuku had this feeling in the back of his head, the green haired boy was nervous about this change, but Bakugo didn't look phased at all. It almost looked like he was completely calm, his body language had this confidence that his mind didn't, his thoughts were almost the same as Izuku's.
But one thing that was definitely certain.
"We are being watched." Izuku thought, there was no mistake about that and it was only a matter time before something attacks.
As they continued walking to follow Iida through the forest, they didn't notice the yellow glowing eyes that follow the two boys movements ever sense they got to this part of the woods.
(A Few Hours Later)
"Alright this looks like a good spot to take a bit of a break." Iida said to the two boys stopping at a big deku tree for a bit of a rest period. While Izuku was all for the idea of taking a small rest from traveling and not used to being in his 10 year old feeling body.
"What? We can't stop now! That damn twig is waiting for us and we need those answers now!" Bakugo said with a little bit of force to his voice, however could feel his body slump a bit in his posture
Bakugo was still raring to go and tried to impatiently get the other two to continue towards the Great Deku Tree. But even both Izuku and Iida could tell the blond kid was looking a bit tired from the traveling, all they needed to break his stubborn attitude and he would probably take that much needed break.
"We can't keep going like this Kacchan, if we continue like this you won't be able to show the Great Deku Tree your true strength and show him what you can do at full strength." Izuku said, he knew that feeding Kacchan's ego would probably be the best way to get him to rest up, despite his eagerness to get there as fast as they could. He heard the blond letting out a angry sigh of defeat, feeling his own body's fatigue take over.
"Fine! But only because I need to be ready to show my skills to that twig, not gonna let my own body fail me on like that." Bakugo said, still reluctant but listening to Izuku's words and decided to set his bag down on the forest floor, leaning it on the sturdy tree. Izuku and Iida both let out a sigh of relief, finally relaxing a bit after walking for a few hours.
Both Izuku and Bakugo plopped down onto the floor, leaning against the tree for support. While the green haired boy felt his eyelids start to get a bit heavy, he could only hear some slight grunting from his friend.
His tired green eyes took a side glance at the ashy blond, he saw Kacchan with a square greyish stone, usually used to sharpen swords and other bladed weapons, and he noticed the sword that he had with him was completely different compared to his own.
Its characteristics having a different look compared to the Kokiri sword, the sword itself had one giant blade in the front, with a smaller blade in the back, both connected with metal blades in the middle for a sort of holder to keep the sword steady and balanced. The hilt of the sword had a strange cylinder look as well, topping the design off with a yellow metallic look and color to finish the look. All in all Izuku was fascinated with the unique look of this weapon.
However the green haired boy took his attention off the sword, and looked at the medium sized bag he was lugging around. Izuku was also curious of his equipment bag on his back, he was wondering what kind of items he brought for this little quest.
"Kacchan, what were you even bringing along in that bag that took you so long?" Izuku questioned. For once Bakugo's usual scowl wasn't there, but he looked at him with a sort of a blank emotion on his face, while his head was just focused on the task at hand of sharpening his sword with the whetstone on the ground.
"Ah don't worry about what I have Deku, you'll get to see me in action soon enough. All you need to worry about is yourself, did you at least get something useful for our mission?" The blond said while a strange metallic noise was filling the air when sharpening the sword, Bakugo was curious for once about what the green haired boy packed for this visit.
"W-Well... I got my sword from the Know-It-All-Brother's, and I also picked up a shield and this Slingshot from the shop." He pulled the item from his pocket, Bakugo looked at the toy unimpressed, he'd figure that the nerd would have something impressive instead of showing him just those items.
"And? What else do you have?" The blond asked him while getting into Izuku's personal space, only managing to make the green haired boy blanch from his sudden aggressive approach. The boy in question was getting nervous from his rival/friend attitude, he could tell Kacchan probably wouldn't like his next answer.
"That was really all I could afford at the store for now." Izuku said to him not meeting his gaze, but was able to see Kacchan's face morph from his calm neutral face to a more angry look, that last answer definitely didn't make Bakugo happy.
"You idiot! You don't have any food, healing items, or even any other lethal weapons?! Why the hell would you only bring a sword, shield, and some useless toy, instead of any kind of healing potion or medical supplies that could keep your dumbass alive!" Bakugo yelled at his face. Izuku was a little off put from his rivals outburst.
But he should be used to this by now, this is Kacchan that constantly yells about everything. So why doesn't he remembered or know anything about his quirk or even Izuku's, or even what happened to them to begin with?
"I guess it has to do with certain coincidences that happened to us... Come to think of it, even the details of how we got to this world is kind of fuzzy even to me." Izuku thought, forgetting about his friend's angry outburst for a certain moment, before getting his tunic tugged for him to come face to face with a current angry Kacchan.
"HEY! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME YOU MORON! WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO IF YOU GET SERIOUSLY HURT! Cause I sure as hell am not going to use my healing potion on you to help your ass!" He yelled at him, shaking him constantly, only for Iida to get in the blond boy's face to try and cover his mouth suddenly.
"Be quiet Bakugo! We don't know if there are any monster's patrolling the area, so if I were you I'd keep silent, and try not to bring attention to you and Izuku to save your energy." Iida told him, Bakugo was just annoyed at the fairy being on his mouth to try and shut him up, telling him what to do.
The blond tossed him off of his face as fast he was on him, and was ready to give that worthless fairy a piece of his mind on the matter.
"Shut up you pixie! Your not the boss of me!" Bakugo continued to shout out, Iida looking a bit disheveled from being thrown off roughly like that, but still maintaining hos angry scowl for the blond haired boy's disregard of what he told him previously.
"Doesn't he know that there could be potential threats out here in the forest? Is he that foolish to think otherwise?" Iida thought of the blond ruffian's foolish nature. "I'm trying to keep us safe, Bakugo! We need to move through the forest quickly, otherwise we will be attacked. This forest is not as safe it used to be, and who knows what's lurking in these woods now." Iida sternly told the child while chopping his hand towards him with intensity to bring home his point, but Bakugo wasn't having any of his scolding.
"We haven't seen any enemy's around you moron! It's perfectly safe, your just saying that cause your trying to scare us you little shit!"
"Guys..." Izuku said out to the both of them.
"Be reasonable, you ruffian! I wouldn't try to scare you for any reason. I'm just warning you of the dangers that could be on top of us at this very instant!"
"Shut up! Even if we did get attacked, I can easily handle it without any of your help, and especially without Deku's dumbass assisting me! So why should I be concerned in the slightest?!"
"Guys..."
"You truly are a foolish child with a death wish! You need our help to navigate this place, and you weren't supposed to be here with us in the first place!"
"FUCK YOU! YOU USELESS ASS FAIRY!"
"GUYS!"
"WHAT!" Both parties finally yelled at Izuku, focusing on the green haired boy's voice interrupting them both.
"W-We aren't a-alone." Izuku said, pointing his shaking hand, with his breath getting quite heavy as they heard the shrill yelling and shouting in the forest, surronding them with the terrible noise. Followed by the slight noise of multiple objects hitting the tree's close by, and it certainly didn't sound like one object hitting the tree's that was for sure.
They saw silhouettes of bipedal human like creature's coming towards them in a group from the distance.
But standing upright, was the only human feature's they had to offer.
The creature's making those noises were grotesque looking imp creature's, with blue skin and no shirt on their backs. They had bags for makeshift pants and had some kind of white wrist wraps on their arms. All of the creature's hair was white and done in a fanned ponytail, with beady green eyes only a savage beast can make out to complete the monstrous appearance, while they looked quite menacing to the trio it wasn't much to look at other than just seeing an ugly monster.
But what made the two boys slightly nervous, more Izuku than Bakugo, was the weapons they saw the monster's wield and were pointing at them, they were wielding large wooden swords or large wooden clubs.
(Enemy Battle-Wind Waker)
The two boys realized the danger they were in, but were slightly scared of the monster's starting to come towards them.
"Iida, do you have any idea what these creature's are!?" Izuku asked his fairy companion, as he was quickly pulling at his sword and shield, in case these creature's are hostile. Bakugo grabbed something from his bag, got his own sword out to get into a similar defense position as Izuku.
"Yes... I know of these evil beings, they are called Bokoblins. They are know for their savagery, they aren't very smart alone, but in groups they can overwhelm other opponent's in brute force. We need to be careful, we can try to take them out, but if we are overrun, we need to retreat and keep going on the path to the Great Deku Tree, they'll taper off when we get far enough." Iida explained to the boys, Izuku was slightly scared of the situation, but Bakugo was showing none of them his fear.
Instead he was showing off an angry expression at the monster's closing in on them, ready to fight.
Regardless of Bakugo's intimidation tactic, the Bokoblins were continuing to scream and yell, all 7 of the monster's were closing in on the two boy's, their leader was a different color compared to this rest, a purple color and had a metal sword instead of one made of wood, but all the same looks and feature's as his blue counterparts. The purple Bokoblin yelled out to silence the other's, with his hideous maw on display, and with a point with his steel sword like club at the boys, the other blue Bokoblins closed in on the boys.
They could see the monster's drag their wooden sword's on the ground, both the boys stood their ground and got ready for conflict. Three split off to deal with Izuku, while the other 3 decided to challenge the shieldless Bakugo. The attack came from one of the blue monster's trying to hit the green haired boy.
"Defend yourself Izuku, use your shield!" Iida shouted at the terrified youth, just in time to get the boy out of his nervous stand and into using his shield before the wooden sword could make contact with his head, and possibly hurt him. The thud of the shield blocking the attack and guaranteeing his safety, but not for long as another swing came from his right from another Bokoblin.
He had little time to act, but was barely able to defend again with his Deku Shield being on his right arm to block the second strike. The strength in his arm weakening from back to back strikes, Izuku's body was not used to feeling this sluggish, considering how much training he's been through to become the best hero he could be.
But now here he was, all of that training was useless here, and he had no other skills to show for it.
The last attack was coming from the third Bokoblin on the left, and his right arm with his shield was knocked back at the moment. The Bokoblin to the left took his chance and was getting ready to swing at his open side.
"Hurry and attack before you get hurt! You can't defend all the time, use the Kokiri Sword from those lesson's in the books!" Iida shouted towards him while getting a safe distance from the conflict, but not too far away from the two boys to abandon them. Izuku was trying to think of quickly of a plan to without striking the blue creature, but nothing came to mind right now.
With no other option left, Izuku tightened his grip on the sword's hilt, and thrusted the weapon forward to retaliate against the third Bokoblin. Even with his short arm reach, he was still able to strike the monster's side and stop its attack, the Bokoblin let out a scream of agony, black tar like blood dripped from the stab wound like a leaking oil tanker from the deep thrust.
Izuku felt his bile rise up in his mouth from his gruesome strike against another living being. He was feeling sorry for hurting the creature so badly, and was quite squeamish from this amount of blood that was leaking through.
Bakugo was looking at him from the side of his red eyes, watching the green hair boy freeze up a bit, thinking the idiot was being ridiculously stupid being frozen up when both of their lives were danger.
Before he got himself hurt, the blond haired kid decided to help him before his window of opportunity was lost and they both ended up dead.
"Don't hesitate you fucking idiot! Now's your chance to counter attack!" Bakugo screamed out, as he yelled and attacked one of his Bokoblins with a horizontal slash, hitting pay dirt on the center goblin. The other two trying to swung at him from his left and right, but he was able to jump backwards to avoid the swings, however his back was against the tree with three enemies still in hot pursuit.
The green haired boy heard his rivals words and his eyes widened with realization.
Kacchan was right, he couldn't afford to get distracted with the situation as perilous as it is. He shook out of his stupor and steeled himself for the moment, he looked at his 3 opponents, one was injured and the other two were going strike again soon. He needs to attack before he gets put on the backfoot and has go on the defensive again.
"He's right, I need to strike now!" Izuku thought, without anymore hesitation he struck the injured Bokoblin again with a horizontal strike, slicing into him again and followed up with another quick attack, striking him once more. The creature was still feeling the agony of the stab, couple that with two more strikes landing the monster decided to back up, very sluggishly before it was slain.
The other two were back on the offensive again, dragging their sword clubs and were about to swing back for another strong attack, but before both could wind up any further Izuku was already attacking them.
A vertical upward swing of his Kokiri Sword sliced into the middle Bokoblin, followed by a horizontal swing with all his might with the sharp small sword, slashing the same Bokoblin across the chest. The monster screamed out in pain, dropping its sword to shoot its hands to stop the huge gashes from bleeding all over the place.
The third Bokoblin finally attacked Izuku to give his two comrades some backup, but the green haired boy was ready for the attack, firmly holding his shield out to block. He countered the shieldless monster with a stab to the stomach. However the attacking was put on hold for that enemy as Izuku went to finish off the two heavily wounded Bokoblins.
The one holding its wounds quickly tried to pick it's weapon back up to fight, but Izuku finished him off with a strong stab to the creature's neck. The Bokoblin fell on the ground with a gurgling cry, leaking black blood on the forest floor. There was no movement from the fallen monster, so the green haired boy quickly moved on to the furthest Bokoblin that retreated from previous attacks. The monster let out a cry as it was going for a powerful side swing attack with his club, but with the amount of injuries it sustained from Izuku the monster couldn't swing fast enough to save its own life as the boy let out horizontal slash after horizontal slash against the monster. Slicing up the blue skinned creature's midsection, until it could no longer feel its own body.
With blood leaking out everywhere now, the Bokoblins body crashed into the ground face first, its life fading from its green eyes and a growing puddle of black blood surrounding the now corpse of the Bokoblin.
Izuku felt a little bit more safe after killing the two monster's, but that was big mistake on his part.
A swing of a metal sword like club came out of Izuku's blind spot and nailed him with a gash on his side, cutting part of his tunic and knocked him to the ground. He winced in slight pain, as some red blood leaked out a bit from the wound.
"Izuku! Are you ok?!" Iida shouted at to his new friend, he saw him getting hit by the blade and some blood flying off of him, he did to see him get hurt and wanted to make sure he wasn't bleeding out from the wound. Izuku slowly got onto his feet, he felt the wound left by the metal blade from the purple Bokoblin that finally jumped into the fray, and in Izuku's honest opinion, it didn't feel really good to get hit with a sword.
But while it gave off a stinging kind of pain, it didn't feel like a fatal hit. "I think I'll be fine Iida." The boy replied back to the fairy, reassuring his friend. The guide didn't look reassured, but took his word for it regardless.
While now focusing on the two enemies left, he took a slight look at how Kacchan was fairing right now to make sure he was alright.
Bakugo was in a terrible position right now, he was back up into a tree with three monster's quickly surrounding his position. Why did every have to be such a clusterfuck for him in these kinds of situation's. It almost reminded him when a cave in happened in a hidden grotto with the rest of the Kokiri were looking for treasure and he was one of the individual's trapped inside the cave.
"Unlike that time, I still have something up my sleeve for these fuckers" He thought, he was out of options and the three were right on top of him. "Don't really have choice in the matter do I?" Finally digging into his tunic pocket, and pulling out a red nut looking object that was the size of his palm with his left hand.
"Deku! Pixie Shit! Close your eyes NOW!" The blond yelled out to give warning to the two. Izuku and Iida complied and quickly shutting his eyes at the last second, and then Bakugo threw the object to the ground in front of him as hard as he could, shutting his eyes to avoid the reaction. Seeing a little flash of light almost as blinding as the sun, thankfully he was able to close his eyes in time to avoid the full blinding flash.
The same could not be said for the Bokoblin's, as all five of them had their eyes open the entire time, not intelligent enough to know what was happening. The blinding light burning their eyes from the painful flash, especially the three right in front of the object when it made contact.
They all yelled out in pain of the light blocking their vision of their prey, quickly dropping their weapons and rubbing their eyes for some kind of relief from the pain. Izuku's Bokoblin duo felt the pain, but were starting to shake out the dizziness of the nut's affects. Izuku slowly opened his eyes and saw his two opponents rubbing their eyes and were distracted by the flash.
Now that Bakugo threw his item, it was time to attack while those assholes were distracted. He opened his eyes quickly and gripped his sword tightly. He went on a full assault, slashing all three of them across their chest's multiple times, they wanted to retaliate against the blond kid, but they still couldn't see and their weapons were on the floor.
"DIE!" Bakugo yelled out, as he continued the attack, with quick thrusts on each individual Bokoblin as fast as he could. His sword stabbing into the monster's, black ichor painting the weapon like dipping a paintbrush in a bucket of paint.
Before long all three of the blinded Bokoblins were full of stab wounds and no longer able to stand, they thudded to the ground painted with their own blood. Bakugo panted heavily from all the strength he used to kill those monster's. The other two Bokoblins finally go their sight back and looked to the ashy blond's handiwork against their comrades.
To say they weren't pleased was an understatement.
They both yelled out at the blond, slowly sauntering over to the tired blond, preparing to finish the brat so they could have his head on a wall.
However they didn't account the other green haired boy, and that would cost them.
With their focus on Kacchan, Izuku took off towards the final blue Bokoblin, jumping into the sword attack with the Kokiri Sword striking deeply into the back of the monster. The monster shouted out in agony from the surprise strike in its blind spot, the creature tried to hurry and turn around to strike back.
But Izuku was too fast for it and continued the assault, with quick slashes now hitting the Bokoblins sides, it couldn't help but spit in pain with thick globs blood and saliva coming out of its disgusting maw. The initial attack definitely destroyed did some damage to its body, coupled with the previous stab one it obtained in its front and now these slashes the pain felt too great for the monster, so the Bokoblin finally collapsed in a heap, taken out of the fight.
"Keep up the great work you two! There's only one left, take him down together!" Iida said to both boys. The purple leader looked on in shock, all of his minion's gone and was starting to get a little nervous, the creature was thinking of retreating to get some more backup.
However when Iida informed the two kids, they both looked at each other, the concept of teamwork was usually lost when working with Bakugo, however this is all a different situation and Kacchan wasn't himself, so maybe they have a chance to work together as a duo.
Izuku had a determined look and nodded at the blond, and Bakugo looked back at him with his usual scowl, but nodded anyways as a silent agreement. They both converged against their purple foe. The Bokoblin, with its intellect thrown to the wayside, went into a blinding fury and decided to forget escaping the two boys, and attack them head on.
Izuku was the first to strike with a slash at his leg meant to slow down their opponent. The attack stunned the monster for a bit, but it was back on the offensive. The injured creature raised its metal sword to attack the ashy blond kid, but with such a delayed overhead strike, the blond had enough time to look up and see the overhead strike coming. Since he didn't have a shield, he hopped to his left to avoid the incoming strike.
But he didn't stop there, Bakugo kept hopping to the left, to the point that he was behind the evil monster. The Bokoblin in question turned to look at the ashy blond, but that mistake was paid for, when the green haired Izuku attacked again with a slash to the back. With the pain coursing through it, the Bokoblin turned its attention towards his current attacker, and quickly tried to swing the sword into the green haired boy.
Izuku was ready for the attack, putting up his shield to easily block, the wood of the Deku Shield holding the attack steady. Now that he was distracted with this new opponent, he wasn't wary of the consequences of ignoring Bakugo, the blond boy decided to attack the monster's legs like Izuku did.
Instead this result was much more bloody.
The sharp end of his Razor Sword with enough force was able to slice off limbs, the Bokoblin in question was now fighting on one injured leg as Bakugo sliced through his other injured limb, cutting off lower half of the creature's leg. It howled out from the top of its lungs in pain, despite with losing its balance with one less limb in some sort of kneeling crouch, the Bokoblin was still raring to fight.
However the two kids were feeling exhausted, and were planning to finish this fight now before they had no energy left. Both Bakugo and Izuku reared both their sword hilts back, and attacked with all the strength they could muster in their bodies to finish the leader.
They gotten the results they wanted from the double pronged attack, the two swords lodged deep in their enemy in both the stomach and upper back, messing up the Bokoblins body from the inside. They felt their final enemy still, not hearing any noises like breathing or yelling from the stabbed monster, and with the light dulling in its eyes and head hanging down, the leader of this group of Bokoblin had been slain.
Both boys removed their swords from the body, letting it thud to the ground in a growing puddle of blood. Both of them panting heavily from the battle they just fought. The adrenaline was wearing off from Izuku's body, the chest wound from that steel sword coming back in very painful stings. He hissed out his pain from the strike, needing to sit down and have a bit of a break from that confrontation. So he went back to the tree and sat down, holding his injury to make sure he was ok.
"Ok... That should be the last of that group, but just in case I'll go check the area to guarantee our location is now safe." Iida explained to them both, taking off from their "safe resting spot" for the moment, giving both of them time to recover from the battle.
"So much for safe. I feel like this kind of situation is going to happen more times then I'd like." Izuku looked at where the little light took off.
Bakugo gave out a tired huff and looked at Izuku's condition and just angrily scoffed at his injury, he knew this would happen to the loser and he even told him before the assault that he should brought medical supplies.
Now saying 'I told you so dumbass' would have been the appropriate response to being an idiot, but he felt that was a little bit cliché at the moment. So he just went back to his original resting spot he was at when they stopped, not saying a word to the Deku.
Izuku turned his head and looked at his friend from his sitting position, but didn't saying anything to him. Izuku just put his head down and huffed in depression.
The green haired boy knew he screwed up big time, and now he was paying with his slash wound. Instead he took a look at their handiwork on the little skirmish they had, the bodies of their enemy's littering the ground. In his mind he was horrified that not even a single day has past, and he was taking the lives of living creatures.
It was such a stark change from his usual hero work with everyone at U.A, trying to save people and defeat the villains, so you could be the best hero you could be. Normally you just tried your best and stop the villains and let the police take care of the rest, just like All-Might would do and go beyond to become Plus Ultra.
But this... It felt different, sure it was similar in a sense when it came to defeating evil. Expecting to kill living, sentient beings was just something Izuku was not used to.
Unless he wanted to turn into a murderous psychopath, then he'd totally just forget every moral he's ever learned and kill everything in the forest.
"Ok Izuku... Just breathe, they were trying to kill you. It was self-defense, and they wanted to kill you." The green haired boy kept reassuring himself to not only conquer his near death experience, but a certain feeling of guilt. He witnessed the battlefield again, maybe hoping this is one big nightmare and he was ready to wake up now.
However when he looked at the corpse of the leader, he was noticing something happen to its corpse, the body was starting to blacken all over and a sort of black smoke was wafting from it, and not just him, all of the other minion Bokoblins corpses also started to change pigment to a dark black molten color, with the same smoke coming from their bodies.
He gave a puzzled look at them, wondering what was happening to their corpses and why this reaction was happening.
"Maybe Iida knows something about this reaction." Izuku thought, as he looked at the fairy slowly coming back to them
Iida checked the surrounding area, making sure that all the enemies have been eliminated or that no more monster's sneak up them while they have time to rest.
"Ok, I think the coast is clear you guys. You can take a bit of a rest." Iida reassured the two boys, Bakugo just closed his eyes and leaned on the tree, with his hands behind his head in resting position. He going to take a bit of a rest to recover from that encounter, he didn't care what the other two did, so long as he wasn't disturbed.
However Izuku couldn't rest just yet, he was watching the black smoke waft from the corpses, he couldn't help but notice now the bodies were starting to crumble like ashen embers and start to disappear, like they never existed at all.
"Iida, what is happening to them?" The boy questioned him, gesturing his hand towards the now fading corpses. The fairy looked on with a look of seriousness taking over his face, he didn't like the look of this at all, and the boy could tell.
"I've heard that usually Bokoblins and other malicious creature's that have been conjured or have been controlled by an evil force usually fade once they have been destroyed." Iida sternly explained to the boy, seeing the last remnants of the bodies fade away into nothing. "Where that essence travel's, I am not sure myself." Iida continued.
"But why is that evil here? Shouldn't the Great Deku Tree be controlling what goes on in this part of the land?" Izuku questioned, this situation could be more perilous than he thought and he might not be fully prepared if only a couple of enemy's almost killed the two boys.
"I don't know Izuku... Usually our protector should have these kinds of creatures blocked off with ease, Bokoblins aren't that strong as evil creature's and I fear that other minor ones will start making their home here if we don't put a stop this." Iida said, he didn't like this at all, this felt like a bad omen of things to come, especially since this is their home and these creature's were able to get this far into their home. "I have bad feeling about this, we need to get to the Great Deku Tree at once, to figure out the solution to stop more monster's from invading the village, and put everyone else at risk." The fairy continued, he wanted to go now and see his father figure, but right now Izuku needed a bit of a rest to let himself recover from his injury.
Izuku tried attempted to get up, agreeing with his friend. They were going too slow and they needed to get to the bottom of this meeting, especially since these monster's could be a big issue later, but Iida quickly went in front of him to stop him and reassured him for a minute.
" Don't move Izuku! While we do need to hurry, I am more concerned for you since our father is asking for you in particular, and since you were injured in battle, I don't want you moving." Bakugo scoffed softly about what Iida said, still thinking the idiot was not prepared and minded his own business by getting back to his nap. "Just relax for now friend, just get some kind of rest before we head towards The Great Deku Tree." Iida told the green haired boy.
While Izuku looked ready to argue his point of getting to the tree like Iida wanted, his body had other plans when he still felt his wound sting a bit and finally with a heavy reluctance, he couldn't help but agree with Iida.
"Maybe if I just... rest my eyes for a few minutes." Izuku's green eyes started to feel a bit heavy, and with a finality closed them for some well deserved rest.
(2 hours later)
"Look I see the clearing up ahead, lets hurry and talk to father." Iida said to the kids as he raced towards the light, which was the exit of the deep forest.
When they woke up from their rest, they decided to walk the rest of the way to save their energy for any other encounters, plus the added problem of Izuku's injury did them no favors.
As much as Izuku tried to reassure Iida and Bakugo, they still saw him a bit sluggish when he was walking along with them.
So they, more so Iida, decided to have Bakugo use some of his Health Potion.
The previous interaction was not pleasing however for both parties.
(Flashback)
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN GIVE HIM SOME OF MY POTION?!" Bakugo yelled at the fairy, he looked livid from his suggestion, they were on their way again, following the fairy once more, this time following along thicker Deku tree to avoid any monster's.
Izuku looked down at himself, still wincing from the wound, it still being a bit red and tender, as well blaming himself for not thinking ahead of time of bringing anything else and having to rely on others, instead of being independent.
"Just listen Bakugo, we don't have time to argue this! If we slow down any further, we are going to get into more unneeded combat and right now Izuku is not in the best condition for that." Iida explained to him, getting frustrated with the blond's stubbornness. "And keep your voice down, do you want more monster's on our position?" Iida told him while chopping his arm at the child.
"So what? Its the nerd's fault for getting himself into the situation, and I'm the one that needs to help him because of his fuck up? I don't think so!" Bakugo continued back at the small blue haired light creature.
"Besides... I'm better at combat! We won't need Deku for any fights, I can take them all with my badass sword skills!" Bakugo continued, drawing his sword, posing with his Razor Sword as he called the weapon.
"No you can't. We barely killed those seven Bokoblin's, and both of you struggled to kill them, what would happen if you had to fight an entire thrall of those without Izuku's help?" Iida retorted back, Bakugo wanted to retort further.
But thinking back, he couldn't believe the fairy was right in that moment. It didn't help that he only got cornered by three of those evil cronies, if Izuku wasn't able to fight the other three, then it would of been a 7 on 1 fight against the blond.
He shook his head at the matter, he knew he could take those bastards all on his own, his skill spoke for it when he killed those Boko losers by himself. But a small voice in his head was speaking otherwise.
If Deku wasn't here, he'd would of probably been overwhelmed with the amount of enemy's and been killed by their numbers alone.
He growled about that, he hated having to think about being weak like that, he couldn't bare the thought of being weak. However, he hated the feeling of helplessness more than anything.
"Kacchan. I-If you d-don't want to give me the potion that's fine, we can continue on." Izuku spoke up to the two, Bakugo looked at the green haired boy giving him this semi begging face, and just turned his head away to look at the pathetic sight.
With a final thought, he caved to the pressure of Iida and the pathetic puppy dog look that Izuku was giving.
"FINE! I'll help the stupid nerd, and then I don't want to hear anymore shit about me being weak UNDERSTAND!" He yelled out, before pointing a finger at the green haired boy. "Don't think I'm doing this for you Deku! I'm doing this because your helping me be the best, got that you stupid nerd!" The blond said, taking out the red jar, and passing it to the other kid.
Izuku just took it for its worth, he knew that while this Bakugo is a little bit nicer than the one he usually deals with and this will probably be the only time he would help him like this. So he just took the potion for what it was worth from his rival.
"Thanks Kacchan." The green haired boy said to him, opening the bottle and looking at the red liquid before taking a small sip.
They say that the best medicine always tasted terrible because they always worked.
In the case of the Red Potion made of majority of Chu Chu Jelly, it was probably one of the worst tasting things on Izuku's tongue.
"It smelled so good, but as soon as I tasted it, my mouth wanted to commit seppuku from way it tasted like cough medicine." He thought, Izuku honestly wanted to spit all out when he first drank it.
But since Kacchan gave it to him, it would of been highly disrespectful and would of pissed him off completely by wasting it when he offered, so he did for himself and his friend.
Despite it tasting terrible, as they were traveling towards the Great Deku Tree, the green haired boy eventually didn't feel as much pain from his wound at this side bothering him. He check himself during that time and noticed the wound scabbing faster and healing itself than regular wounds.
Guessing it worked, he told the other two travelers they could pick up the pace. So the two boys decided to jog and Iida flew faster to finally get to the end of the forest.
They were lucky enough not to run into anymore monsters, considering the whole yelling episodes Iida and Bakugo had with their whole potion debacle could of brought more Bokoblin's or even more monster's down on their location.
However that was past them now, as Iida went towards the clearing and the boys, tired from all the jogging and carrying their equipment stepped towards the exit of the thick forest, to witness the glory of the Great Deku Tree.
When they took their first glimpse of him, the guardian of the forest was massive, definitely bigger than your average Deku tree and was expansive across the clearing, both the boys seeing the ends of the tree stretch on. Izuku and Bakugo definitely saw differences when it came to middle of the tree, and both were shocked to see it.
The tree had the face of a human being, included with a nose and a mustache made of wood that made the wooden guardian that more majestic. They both could feel the forest's life energy through him, it was like a stream of energy coming off of his aura. The peaceful aura was all around them in swirl to provide safety and security to this location for anyone who visits the protector of The Kokiri Forest land.
(Deku Tree- Ocarina of Time)
"Great Deku Tree... I'm back!" Iida said to the giant tree, both the kids waiting with baited breath for a response.
"Oh... Iida... Thou has returned..." The tree responded with weariness and relief in its voice.
Both the boys had no words, Izuku was shocked from his presence, he could never imagine a tree of this size back at home, and especially one that is sentient enough to talk. If he was able to get back to his world and tell any of his peers from his class or his mother, they would probably think he was going nuts when he said he talked to a sentient tree.
Bakugo was speechless, as much as he insulted the guardian of the forest, he didn't have any insults or rude comments to throw at the mighty tree. Seeing him the first time in all of his glory was shocking, he didn't want to show that emotion to either the nerd or the pixie, but he couldn't help his jaw dropped expression to finally meeting the tree for the very first time. He recovered enough of his composure to not tip off Izuku or Iida that he was impressed.
"Izuku... Bakugo... Welcome." The tree said to them both without even moving his mouth, which didn't seem physically possible in the green haired boy's mind, but he decided to roll with it for the time being.
"Uh... H-Hello G-Great d-d-deku tree." Izuku said shyly, but loud enough for the tree to hear him. He was nervous of the tree, it felt like he was meeting some kind of royalty for the first time, like he shouldn't even be in the guardians presence. However Bakugo didn't feel that way at all.
"So... after 10 long years you call me to you for something you old twig." He just chuckled out, shocking Izuku and horrifying Iida with the lack of respect towards the guardian. "Well while it might not be a something as an honor to meet you, I'd expect nothing less of you being the biggest tree in the woods." Bakugo finished, while putting his hands on his hips.
"BAKUGO! How dare you treat our father with such disrespect! Apologize now!" Iida yelled at the blond boy, he was appalled by the blond ruffian's behavior. Izuku just shook his head and rubbed some of his green hair that was not in his cap and rubbing his head from Bakugo's lack of manners.
However the guardian only chuckled at the interaction, not phased by the child in the slightest.
"Thou never cease to amaze me Bakugo, thy tenacity and attitude has not fallen over the years, a special boy indeed for a task I lay about thee." The Tree complimented him, but Bakugo didn't bother with a response and just turned his head and scoffed.
"However time is of the essence..." Tree said, a feeling of tiredness washing over him. Both boys noticed this, but decided to let the Deku tree speak first.
"Listen carefully to what I, the Deku Tree am about to tell thee.." The tree said, both boys now focused on him, nodded their heads.
"Thy slumber these past moons must of been restless, and full of nightmares..." He continued. Izuku looked a little puzzled at his statement, but couldn't help to agree. It was somewhere in his mind that he has had these certain... vision's. But whatever they were, they did not inspire confidence of the events yet to come.
Still the premise of these nightmares he didn't really understand yet, but that was the mystery he probably going to find out soon. Bakugo however nodded at the tree's statement, agreeing to what he had spoken, it seemed Kacchan was having these nightmares as well, but refused to recount them for everyone.
"As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it..." The guardian said to the boys, telling them of what has been happening in the land of Hyrule. Bakugo clinched his fist, his red eyes full of anger from hearing that their home was now threatened by this evil.
Izuku was worried, he didn't know what was happening to this land and didn't know what to do to help it.
"Verily, thou hast felt it here in thy forest..." He wasn't wrong in that statement, as the encounter of those Bokoblins truly showed the two boys the horrors of those evil creatures, not to mention anything else that lurked in the shadows of the deep Kokiri Forest. Both the boys could feel the danger when they first traveled their way towards, this feeling of malice that covered it like a dark shroud, and goddesses know what would happen to the Kokiri if those monster's invade the village.
"It would be a bloodbath.." Izuku thought, the Kokiri wouldn't stand a chance against them if there were more than just those Bokoblins, they needed to stop this evil's advancement dead in its tracks. With his resolve found, his face took on a serious look, his emotions now dead set on helping this land from the forces of darkness.
At least... Until he could find a way back home. While this isn't his home, what kind of hero would he be if he didn't strive to be the best and save anyone that was in need?
"Great Deku Tree. What can we do to stop this darkness from spreading across the land?" Izuku asked out loudly to bring the tree's attention to him.
The tree sighed, he knew this day would come, he just didn't think it would be so soon. But he could not put this off any longer.
"Izuku... The time has come to test thy courage..." The tree spoke to the green haired boy.
The boy was surprised of the tree's words... Test his courage? In what way would he be tested? Was it going to be a test strength? Maybe the mind? There were numerous question's about this test, but he was definitely curious about it.
"It is unfortunate to say this to you three but... I have been cursed... The evil must be broken by you young lad, with your wisdom and courage I need you to break this curse upon thee." Izuku, Iida, and Bakugo were shocked to hear this, the guardian of the forest had been cursed? When did this happen? How? It was definitely a shock to Iida to learn of his father figure's issue.
"Father! Are you ok? Will you be alright when this curse is broken!?" Iida was slightly panicked at his caretaker's fate. However Izuku could definitely tell the curse's effect on the Deku tree: His slightly weakened voice, his coloring of the tree it self looked a little bit off, and the whole forest being slowly taken over by evil monster's definitely pinpointed the current state of the tree.
"I am not certain young Iida... This curse has weakened me to the point of death... My body no longer has the strength to ward off the evils of this forest... I don't know how much longer I can hold, unless this curse is broken I fear I will perish from this curse." The guardian said weakly, scaring the fairy about his wits. The fairy was tearing up from this revelation, his father figure was suffering this entire time and he never told him.
Iida turned towards Izuku, the blue haired fairy giving a pleading look towards the green haired boy, Izuku nodded towards his fairy companion, reassuring the blue lighted creature.
Giving all the incentive he needs to take this task, he stepped towards the tree with greater confidence. He helped Iida for when he was suffering through his brother's fate against The Hero Killer Stain, and help him again in this world.
No matter the cost to help his friend.
"Dost thou have the courage enough to undertake this task?" The tree said to Izuku. However before Izuku could give his answer he was interrupted when the certain blond haired boy rushed up to where he was walking. He ran into the green haired boy knocking his over and hitting the ground with a thud.
"HEY YOU OLD BASTARD! Just because you asked this nerd to do this, doesn't mean I'm not going to just let him take the spotlight! If anyone's gonna break this weak ass curse on you, its gonna be me!" Bakugo screamed out to the tree, his body was shaking but it was not of fear.
It was of excitement, while his teeth gave out an angry scowl on his face, his eyes were on fire and ignited with a burning determination to prove himself a hero to his people, to show them he was better than them. Izuku has seen this look numerous times when his friend was trying to prove himself as the #1 hero.
"Kacchan..." Izuku knew his friend was up to the task, so there was only one choice.
"Yes. I will take this task, and free you from this curse." Izuku said, his final answer causing a strange reaction towards the guardian, they could hear a rumbling come from the tree.
The source was the lower part of the Deku Tree opening up like a mouth, both startling the three present that were summoned.
"Then enter, brave Izuku, and thou too Bakugo... Thy strength and courage will help thy friend to complete this task." He said to the children.
"Iida the fairy..." He got the attention of his young child, "Thou must aid these children in this perilous task for me my son..." The tree finished as he lowered his mouth completely.
"Yes father, I will not let you down and complete this task to the fullest!" Iida chopped his arm, showing his full commitment and willing to give it his all to save the person that raised him like a son.
The three chosen walked towards the front of tree, right up to the mouth of the guardian, possibly to see what was inside.
The entrance of their guardian was dark, it didn't look like a ton of light was in Great Deku Tree, but both the boys and fairy could feel the same dark aura from the forest inside of the Deku Tree. It permeated the air like a thick cloud of smoke from a fire, it was safe to say it gave the trio chills.
"Izuku... Bakugo... Please listen well to Iida's words of wisdom when he speaks, this wisdom will be paramount for thy trial..." He said, only getting a nod from Izuku and an angry scoff from the ashy blond.
"For the fate of this entire forest rests upon thy shoulder's..." The tree finished, the green haired child was a little hesitant at first, his booted feet stepping in place for a bit, before a snort from his blond compatriot broke him from this. Bakugo pointed a finger at his direction, startling the green eyed child.
"Make no mistake nerd, the tree was addressing your ass the entire time, but you just sit your useless hide back and let me take care of the fighting bullshit." He thumbed at himself with pride, "While you twiddle your thumbs and check our inventory with the firefly over there. Because nobody is going to fucking be the hero of this forest other than me!" He yelled out, and with that exclamation Bakugo slowly went into the dark abyss that was the Great Deku Tree's mouth.
Both Iida and Izuku just let out a sigh at the blond's behavior, they both knew that he would get in trouble without them both.
"Izuku" Iida got the attention of the green haired boy and got close to face level, "I will guide you both to the best of my abilities to keep you both out of harms way, but..." Iida went straight towards the enterance to point where the cretin went into, "Bakugo might not listen to me out of spite of being your fairy companion. But with you, I need you to listen to anything I have to say to try and help you as best as I can, you think you can handle that?" The fairy finished, while he can't really reason with the hot head, he could definitely have his companion listen to him.
Without any hesitation, Izuku nodded his head towards his fairy friend to reassure him. "Don't worry Iida, anything you have to say, I'll listen to the best of my ability." Izuku said to his friend, then he turned towards the dark enterance of the tree, finally ready to tackle his trial.
"Well... Let's get going Iida." The boy said, taking the first step into his quest, with Iida right beside him into the darkness.
And that is Chapter 3...
Sorry that took so long everyone, it was a little bit of a strange and I'm sorry not a lot happened in the chapter, but I wanted some kind of conflict without getting into the first dungeon of the game so quickly. So I thought the first fight should of been a bit more animated instead of just chopping Deku Babas in half.
Now I know the Inside of the Deku Tree is pretty short, however I wanted to make into an actual interesting dungeon instead of just a Young Link dungeon that you just blast through, trust me I want to change it up a bit and I'm going to. Izuku, Bakugo, and Iida won't know what hit them in there.
However I'm not going to change it drastically, but I will be adding my spin to it. So stay tuned for that.
Also I know Bokoblins aren't in Ocarina of Time, however that's gonna be a change that I make because I wanna add different enemy types for the story and I know Bokoblins are kind of weak enough to kill in packs, but like in numbers they are pretty dangerous. Also some enemy variety is nice so I'm putting some in there, along with others that will be trouble for our heroes.
On a side note how do you think the battle scene was? Was it good or not? Did you like what weapon Bakugo had? Instead of just giving him another Kokiri Sword, I decided to switch it so he had the Razor Sword from Majoras Mask.
Also don't worry about the sword being OP in the story you'll find out why and where he got it later. So I also decided to make Bakugo bit of a risk taker in this, he's more of an offensive guy in my opinion and I feel like he'd be ok without a shield for now, but we will see how far that will take him.
With Izuku being an all around fighter I thought he would have a regular sword and shield set up for him and to try and utilize it to his fullest with the experience he has now, but make no mistake these two are still not experts in swordsmanship, so that will still be a factor. They were more opportunists when it came to the fight, so they took it.
Another thing I'm going to do is definitely give item distribution to both Bakugo and Izuku, so you won't have to worry about one character getting a shit ton more than the other, I'll try to make it fair, but no promises.
One last thing, if you guys want say in comments if you have any ideas or you want an input on if other characters in MHA should take some of the roles from the OOT cast, I already have some ideas, but I'd love to hear some good feedback about it if you have any.
Either that or some comments on my writing or anything else, I wouldn't mind the constructive criticism.
That is... If you want to see those changes or not cause I already put Saria in, but that doesn't mean other characters can't join the fray.
So with that, I'll see you guys on the next chapter of the story, this is Irongiant9000 and I'm signing off.
Next Chapter: When the Forest Attacks Back
