Chapter Thirteen: Clay and Peril Finally Together

The sun started to set while Clay and Peril walked side by side down to the side of the lake. When they stopped beside the water's edge, both Clay and Peril dipped one of their talons into the water before bringing up a claw full of mud. Though Peril slightly grimaced of feeling the muck between her toes, Clay was rather enjoying it again. Sitting down, Clay started to apply the mud to the wound around his chest and could already feel it starting to work. His aching muscles no longer hurt and it felt even better when Peril applied some mud to his back and tail. Clay then looked to her and asked, "Is there any way to help you feel better?"

"Don't worry so much about me." Peril told him and walked around to his front. Sitting in front of him, Peril then said, "All I've got are a few bumps, scratches and bruises."

"Oh." Clay said as he really wanted to help her as much as she was helping him. She then told him, "You were really brave today, Clay."

"I was? I felt terrified." Clay admitted as the whole ordeal had been a bit frightening to him. Peril chuckled and then said, "I was terrified as well. About you, Sky and the herd." Her smile faded and she hung her head before saying, "I just wish…"

Clay's smile faded to when he knew what she was talking about. Tears once again welled up in Peril's eyes as she thought of her brother. Clay leaned forward and gently nuzzled her head with his. Peril returned the nuzzle even though she was sad. Clay then said, "I know that it hurts. Believe me, I know how you feel."

"You do?" Peril asked and he leaned back. Clay nodded and then said, "Before arriving to the mainland, my family's island was destroyed when the fireball came down. Everything, and everyone else was gone. We were the only ones left."

"I'm so sorry." Peril offered and placed her talons over his. Clay then smiled as he said, "But we have each other to look after. Because we're a family. And that's what we do."

"Sky and I used to be like that." Peril said as she remembered. Then she said, "I guess it was some time after we had lost just about everyone we ever knew before forming the herd that changed him." She sighed before saying, "I'm just glad that he was able to be my brother again. No matter how brief."

"Peril." Clay started as he took both her talons into his and held them between them. She looked him in the eye as he said, "I know that I already promised Sky, but I do promise you that I'll look out for you. You and the herd."

"I know." Peril nodded since she believed him and he released her talons. Clay then decided to get something off his chest. He cleared his throat before saying, "Uh, Peril… there's been something that I've been meaning to tell you for a while."

"Yeah." She said and tilted her head. Clay tried to find the words of what he wanted to say, but they didn't come to him. But Peril knew exactly what he was trying to say. The Mudwing then tried, "For a while now, I've kind of had a-"

Clay took a deep breath and was about to say something when Peril leaned forward and placed her lips against his. Clay blushed at the kiss but didn't fight it. When they broke it, Peril smiled and said, "Sometimes you do try too hard."

Clay just chuckled before they pressed up against each other. Clay then asked her, "So, would you consider…"

"Being your mate for life?" Peril finished the question. Clay nodded to confirm the question. Peril's response was shoving Clay down to the ground. Clay grunted when he fell on his back and looked up to Peril standing over him. Peril just smiled down at him and then said, "I think I'd like that."

Peril then leaned her head down and kissed him again. Clay returned it as the two closed their eyes. Peril was the one to break the kiss and stepped off of Clay to let him back up. Clay quickly rolled onto his feet and turned to face her. The two just laughed before looking out to the lake. The Mudwing and the Skywing sat down with their sides pressed up against each other. Peril then rest her head on Clay's shoulder and he placed his head against hers. The two love dragons were being watched from afar by Clay's family, friends and the two Hivewing brothers. They only smiled in happiness for them.

Author's Note: I told you that this chapter would be short but romantic. Next is the final scene of the story and then the Ending Credits. Hope that you enjoyed reading this story as much as I liked writing it. I plan to do a few other parodies of the Dinosaur movie, though I don't know what to do at the moment. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
