Chapter 8 – Masquerade
Alexa's pov
I walked down stairs and there was a knock at the door, "Delivery for Alexa Gilbert." The guys asked me.
I nodded, "Yes." I said to him.
"Two dresses for you." He said handing me the dress bags and left.
I smiled as Davina walked down the stairs with Jeremy. "Kat sent us both dresses for tonight." I said to her.
She took one of the dress bag and opened it to see a short purple dress. I opened my dress bag to see a red and black laced dress. Davina pulled out a purple tie, "This must be for you." She told Jeremy.
He took the tie and chuckled, "I don't mind matching you." He told her.
I smiled at them both. "You two are adorable." I told them both.
"Right girls, off I go to play double agent." Jeremy said to me and Davina, he downed some vervain. Then he left the house, I took the dress upstairs and put it in the room I was staying at.
Davina walked in with masks for this evening. "Mum found these for this evening." She said to me handing me the black lace mask. Davina had a lace mask also, "Do you want to get food at the Grill?" she asked me.
I nodded, "Yeah sure let's get ready." I said to her, I pulled on some jeans and a black top and a red flannel shirt.
We both headed to the Grill and Matt walked up to me, "Hey Lex, boss said no. There not taking anyone on at the moment." He told me.
"Thanks anyway Matt." I said to him, Davina and I sat in a booth when Caroline came in stalking Matt. "Oh that's not good." I muttered pointing to Caroline.
Davina looked at her, "Poor blondie." She said and Caroline ran into the bathroom.
Matt walked over and took our order, we both see Katherine walked in and follow Caroline into the bathroom. Matt brought our food over, "Thanks Matt." I said to him.
"No problem, I'll let you know when there is an opening." He told me, walking away. We drank our coffees when Caroline walked over to us both and sat down.
"We have a problem." She told me.
I looked at her, "What's up?" I asked her.
"Katherine." She told me.
Davina and I looked at each other and looked at Caroline. "What happened?" I asked her.
"We need to tell Damon and Stefan." She told me.
"What tell the guy that abused you to ask for help." I said to her, eating my food.
She nodded, Davina looked at her. "Okay Caroline we will come with you to the Salvatore's place." Davina said to me and her.
I sighed, "Fine." I said to them both, I downed my coffee. We paid the bill and left heading to the Salvatore's house. Caroline is sitting on the couch.
Damon gives her a glass of blood. "Here."
"I'm still shaking." She told him..
Damon looked at me and Davina when I was looking at the bottle of bourbon. "Little early isn't it." He said to me.
"Listen you precious, compulsive piece of trash. I could care less what you think." I told him, I poured myself a glass as Caroline walked in.
Stefan arrived, "What happened?" he asked Caroline.
"Go ahead, tell him. You're gonna love this." Damon said to him.
"I saw Katherine today." Caroline told him, "Davina and Alexa saw her also."
"Before you ask, she was at the Grill impersonating princess Elena." I told him and Damon. The both shot me looks, "Look Caroline, I know your friends with Elena but I hate her." I said to them all.
Caroline was telling them all about Katherine's threat, "She wants to do it in public. Killing Mason threw her off guard." Stefan said, I knew Mason was safe.
"You killed my god father?" I asked him, he looked at me.
"Damon did, but he was working with Katherine." He told me.
"Congratulations on taking another family member from me and from Tyler. The next time you both cross me I will kill you." I told them both.
Damon looked at me, "Oh what you and the little witch gonna do?" he asked me.
Davina looked at him and Damon started to sweat and cough, "Do you feel that that is your blood starting to boil." Davina raised her hand and closed her hand into a fist, Damon clutched at his chest.
"That is your heart about to be ripped out of your chest." I told him.
Stefan looked at me and Davina, "Okay stop. You've proved your point." He told me.
"Say please and sorry, unlike Bonnie we stick to our threats." I said to him.
"Sorry!" Damon screamed.
Stefan looked at me, "Please get her to stop. I'm sorry for my brother killing your god father." He told me, looked at me in the eyes.
He was telling the truth, "You can stop D." I said to her.
She stopped the spell, "Mason was my family too. I'm telling you now cross me again and I will kill you without a second thought." She told him.
"Okay noted, but she's running scared. What she did to Jenna was desperate. She's out of tricks." Damon told Stefan.
"We can't underestimate her. We have to play this smarter than her." Stefan told him.
"Can we just give her the moonstone so she'll leave?" Caroline asked quietly.
"I highly doubt that, according to John even if she has what she wants she will make your lives a living hell." I told them all.
"I guess you are the smart Gilbert twin. No, Katherine's not getting dick. I've had it. I'm gonna go to the masquerade ball and I'm gonna kill her, tonight." He said to us all.
Stefan shot him a look, "You're not gonna kill her." He told him.
"Don't give me that goody-goody crap." Damon said to him.
"You're not gonna kill her." Stefan told him.
Damon shot him a look, "Really?" he said to him.
"Because I am." He said to him.
"Well since the power twins are here, they are in on the plan." Damon said to us both.
"Oh goodie." I muttered.
"Won't she need her grimoires?" Caroline asked us both.
Me and Davina looked at each other, "Nope, she is stronger than Bonnie. New Orleans witches are more stronger." I told her.
"I'll message Bonnie. Damon you ask Jeremy and Alaric for weapons." Stefan told him.
They all turned there back and I wanted to warn Katherine. "I'm gonna pick something up from Caroline's house." I said to everyone.
"Here take my car, see you soon." Davina said to me, I left the house. Stefan followed me out.
"Alexa, wait. I'm really sorry about Mason." He told me.
"I'm not Elena, I can't forgive you both at a snap of your fingers." I told him.
He grabbed my arm, "Elena told me what went on between you both and Jeremy told me his side. Jeremy blames her for you leaving town." He told me.
"As he should." I told him, "Let me go Stefan, before I kick your ass." I told him, he let my arm go and I got into the car heading to Katherine's place.
Katherine's pov
I had returned from shopping when I saw Alexa show up. "We have a problem." She told me. We walked inside, Mrs Flowers put the bags down and left the room.
"What problem?" I asked her.
"Damon and Stefan are going to kill you tonight." She told me.
Isobel walked in with my with friend, "Isobel, Lucy please come in. Alexa this is Isobel your mother." I told her
Alexa looked at Isobel, "You are beautiful Alexa. It's nice to finally see you." She told her.
Alexa hugged her mother, "Salvatore boys are plotting my death. Well my plan is better, part 1 is in the works." I told Alexa.
"Your soulmate Elijah and his warlock friends are on there way." Isobel told me.
"Alexa go back to the house and keep tabs on both Salvatore boys." I told her.
"Give me your phone number." She said to me, I took her phone and put my phone number in saving it under better twin. Isobel pulled out a knife and some stakes, giving them to Alexa.
"It's a ball, the knife will be easier to strap to the inside of your leg." Isobel told her daughter.
Alexa smirked and nodded, "Thanks mom." She said to her.
Lucy looked at Alexa, "Right it's time to link you to Elena and Alexa so they won't kill you." Lucy said to me.
Alexa looked at me, "I'm fine with that. See you later." Alexa said leaving.
Isobel looked at me, "She will be fine. She is stronger." I told her.
Alexa's pov
I arrived back at the Salvatore house when Bonnie pulled up. "Alexa, why are you here?" she asked me.
"For John, Katherine did cut his fingers off and nearly killed him." I told her. Caroline opens the front door and to me and Bonnie
"Hey, come on in." She told us both.
I waalked in and up to Davina, "Hey, found these. We could strap them to the inside of are thighs." I said to Davina.
Damon looked at me and Davina, "Sexy and deadly." He said to me and Davina.
"You're a pig, Damon." I told him, he looked at me.
Bonnie looked confused to see Jeremy with weapons. "What's going on?" she asked us all.
"We're gonna kill Katherine." Jeremy said bluntly.
"I can explain." Stefan told her.
"Please." Bonnie said to him.
"We're gonna kill Katherine." Stefan stated.
"This works with compressed air. The trigger mechanism is up here. I have two of these in a different size. For you I recommend this. It fits nicely under the jacket sleeve. You use the trigger when you're ready." He said showing us his weapons, he faked killed a vampire.
Damon and Stefan looked at each other. "You did tell him to show you how to kill a vampire." Davina stated to them both.
Caroline looked at me, "How is your arm?" she asked me.
"It's okay, Davina did a spell this morning that healed it completely." I said ti her
Davina smiled and nodded, "Yeah, I'm good like that." She said to her.
Damon and Stefan looked at me. "Really." Damon said to me.
"Yeah Damon, witches that are stronger can heal a lot of wounds." I told him.
Alaric looked at me, "Are you sure you guys don't want me there tonight?" he asked Stefan.
"No, I need you to stay with Elena. I don't want her to know about this." He told Alaric.
"Okay. Well, I'll make sure she doesn't leave my sight. Make sure Alexa doesn't leave your sight." He told him.
He nodded, "Alright, if anybody wants to back out, I'll understand." Stefan said to us all.
"Yeah. Cold feet speak now. I don't want this going wrong if someone chicken's out. Caroline." He said to her.
She shook her head, "I won't. Look, she killed me. Fair's fair. As long as there's no werewolf running around." She told him.
"Oh, I took care of Mason." He told Caroline sounding happy again.
I picked up the letter opener and threw it at Damon, hitting his shoulder. "Little less glee next time." I told him.
"Yeah, as long as Tyler doesn't kill anyone, he won't turn." Jeremy said to us all.
"Bonnie? Are you with us?" Stefan asked her.
She nodded, "But no one gets hurt." She told everyone while staring a hole through Damon.
"Except Katherine. Tonight Katherine gets a stake through her heart." He said to us all.
"Okay now that is done. Can we go home and get ready now?" I asked him.
He nodded, we were all leaving. Damon grabbed my arm, "Look I know you don't like me for killing John, Jeremy and Mason. But thank you for helping tonight." He said to me.
"I'm doing this for Jeremy not you. Jeremy is finally happy with his soulmate maybe ask Bonnie to find yours and tell Stefan to do the same." I told him.
He looked at me and nodded, "Okay see you later Smart Gilbert." He said to me.
I left the house and got into Davina's car. She started to drive away, "So what did talk dark and forehead want?" she asked me.
"To thank me for doing this this evening." I said to her, I didn't tell her that I was linked to Katherine. She didn't need to worry more.
We got to Davina's and got ready for the masquerade ball. I put my black and red laced dress on. I curled my hair to perfection and put the mask. I strapped the knife to the inside of my leg. I was ready I put my black heels on and walked down stairs to see Jeremy and Davina already.
We headed to the Lockwood's and I saw Tyler. "I thought he left town with Mason." I whispered to Jeremy.
"I'll keep and eye on him with Caroline." He told me.
Davina and Bonnie went upstairs and set up the spell. I saw Katherine walk in with straight hair. I walked outside to see Damon and Stefan are on the steps, I walked up to them both.
"Hello brothers." I said to them both.
They both looked at me, Damon smirked at me dress as well as Stefan. "You look good Alexa." Stefan said to me.
"Thanks, don't worry I won't tell Elena that your both flirting with me." I told them both walking off.
I guy walked up to me, "May I have this dance?" he asked me.
I nodded, he took me to the dance floor. "You must be Alexa, your sister Elena told me about you." He said to me.
"Did she now. So who are you?" I asked him.
He lent in and whispered, "I'm Elijah, I know the plan."
I smiled as I saw Katherine dancing with Stefan. He took me inside and up to the room where Davina did the spell. "Vampires can't leave once inside." I told him.
He nodded, "Thank you Miss Gilbert." He told me and left quickly. Stefan and Damon appeared when I was in the room.
"Why are you in here Alexa?" Stefan asked me.
"Need to get away from Katherine, she told me about what happened to her sister Clary." I said to them.
Both of there faces dropped, Stefan walked up to me. "Hey it's okay. Clary's death was an accident. She was my best friend, but right now I need you to be strong. I'm not gonna let you die, Jeremy needs his sister." He said to me.
Damon nodded, "Let's set up." He said to me and Stefan.
We set up when I heard Katherine is dragging a sobbing Caroline towards the room. Katherine walks into the room, "Where is she? Alexa why are you here?" she said to me.
"I did it! I really didn't think that I'd be able to fool you but I did it!" Caroline said happy with her self.
Katherine rushes over but she can't leave the room. She's trapped. "What the...? Stefan?" she said to him, he had a stake in his hand.
"Alexa go with Caroline." He told me.
I go to leave when Caroline looks at me and leaves. I couldn't leave the room, "Why can't I leave. Damn it Bonnie." I muttered.
"You don't really think that you can kill me with that now, do you?" Katherine asked him with her hands on her hips.
"No, but he can." He said to her, Damon walks out the closet holding the compressed air weapon. He shoots Katherine. The stake goes in her back. At the same time I screamed.
"What did you do Katherine?" Damon asked her.
Stefan and Damon are fighting with Katherine. She tries to stake Damon but Stefan grabs her by behind, fall on the floor with her and choke her from behind. She can't move. Damon rushes over and is about to kill her when Jeremy arrived. "Stop! You're hurting Elena! Everything you're doing to her is hurting Elena!" Damon stops. He's surprised. Katherine smiles as Stefan releases her and she gets up.
"You think you two are the only ones with a witch on your side? Wrong and something tells me that my witches is better than your witch." She told him, taking the stake.
She walked over to me, handing me the stake. "Jeremy, go check on Elena. Make sure she's okay. Go!" Stefan told him.
"Let's all make sure poor Elena is okay. Just a little bit more pressure." I said, cutting my hand with the stake. Knowing Elena would feel it. Stefan hits my hand and throws the stake on the floor.
Katherine takes the stake and is about to drive it through her stomach. "This is really gonna hurt and Alexa has my blood in my system." She said to them both.
"Wait!" Damon shouted.
She sat down on the couch. "Okay. So, how about that moonstone?" She asked them both.
They both looked at me, "Why are you helping her?" Stefan asked me.
"She is more like a sister than Elena ever was and ever will be." I told him.
Isobel arrived, "Look at all of you. Your friend Davina is busy making sure that Tyler Lockwood doesn't turn into a wolf." She told us all.
"Why can't I leave, I'm not a doppelganger am I?" I asked her.
She shook her head, "No your a witch you just haven't unlocked it yet." She told me.
Stefan looked at me as I took the news in, she paced me a jacket through the door. "To cover your back." She said to me, "Moonstone boys, or I will send something more worse than Katherine." She said leaving.
Katherine, myself, Damon and Stefan were trapped in the room. "The three of us together just like old times. The brother who loved me too much and the one that didn't love me enough. And the new baby sister." She said to us all.
Stefan wiped my back of the blood. I put the jacket on, "And the evil slut vampire who only loved herself."
"Wow insulting yourself Damon." I said to them all, I sat next to Katherine.
"What happened to you Damon? You used to be so sweet and polite." Katherine said to him.
"Oh, that Damon died a long time ago." He told her.
"Good. He was a bore." She told him.
Stefan looked at the two of them, "Oh, why don't you two stop antagonizing each other?" Stefan said to them both.
"Where is the moonstone?" I asked him.
"What do you both want with it?" Stefan asked us both, I sighed and got up pouring myself a drink.
"Does Elena enjoy having both of you worship at her alter?" Katherine told them both.
Stefan looks at Damon and then looks at her. Then he looks at me, "That was really desperate, Katherine. Don't you think that we can see right through you?" he told Katherine.
"So it doesn't bother you that Damon's in love with your girlfriend?" She told him.
"Oh, stop it." He told her.
"Or what? You'll hurt me?" She asked him, she got up and looked at him. "Come on, Stefan. Everything that I feel, Elena and Alexa feels, so go ahead." Then she turned to Damon, "Or better yet, kiss me Damon. They'll feel that too." She told Damon.
"Please don't." I said to them all.
Damon looked at me, "You'll love it." Damon told me.
"Highly doubtful jackass." I told him.
"You know, this whole Mason thing has me a bit confused. Why a werewolf? The moonstone can break a curse that would help them destroy all vampires so what's in that for you?" Stefan asked Katherine.
"Sorry about your pet wolf, probably should have kept him on a tighter leash." Damon gloated.
My phone started ringing, "Hello?" I answered.
"Hey Lex, it's Mason I just wanted to let you know I'm safe." He told me.
I smirked and Damon's face dropped. "See you Mason have a good life." I told him, hanging up. "Looks like I was one step ahead of you Damon. That was a glamour that you fake killed." I told him.
Stefan had a small smirked on my face. "Well I'm actually kind of happy about that." He told me.
Katherine smirked as Damon looked pissed off. Davina ran upstairs with Tyler, "Breathe okay?" I heard her.
I walked over to the door way, "Tyler how come your still here?" I asked him.
"Mason told me to come to this party but I kind of wish I just followed him." He told me.
They walked towards the door, "No barrier spell, we can't leave." I told them both.
Davina nodded and tossed me a knife, "Just incase Damon steps out of line. It's spelled with Vervain." She told me.
"Witchy ley us out!" Damon shouted.
I stabbed him in the gut, "Only the witch that cased the spell can lift it dumb ass maybe call Bonnie." I told him, pulling the knife out.
Davina and Tyler went to look for Jeremy. "We could play charades." Katherine said to us all.
"You bargained the moonstone." Stefan said.
"What are you mumbling about over there?" Damon asked him, looking at his shirt.
"When you struck a deal with George Lockwood, to help you fake your death, you told me that you gave George something that he needed. It was the moonstone, wasn't it?" Stefan asked Katherine.
"Good for you, Stefan. Two plus two...And it would have worked except that people found out that I wasn't in the tomb." She told Stefan then looked at Damon. "Thanks to you, by the way. Have I mentioned how inconvenient your obsession with me has been?" She stated.
"You and me both, honey." He told her.
"Why do you need it back?" he asked Katherine and me.
"I love you in a suit, so dashing." I said to him.
"What were you doing with it in the first place?" he asked Katherine.
"You're wasting your breath, Stefan." Damon said to him.
"Unless it wasn't yours to begin with. In 1864 you faked your death. Who were you running from, Katherine?" Stefan asked her.
"In 1987 you were in Chicago, at a concert of all places with that wench, Lexi. Come on Stefan, don't look so surprised. Of course I checked in on you over the years. You were standing in the front row, dancing all night. You were watching Bon Jovi and I was watching you." She told him.
"That's love if you ask me." I said to them all.
"Who were you running from?" He asked her. She doesn't answer him and moves next to me.
"Okay which one of them got Clary killed?" I asked Katherine.
"Damon did, when his stupid plan to rescue me. She got shot by there father." She told me.
I grabbed at my chest and looked at Damon and Stefan. Stefan looked hurt and Damon didn't look at me. They both got Katherine's sister killed she was only 15.
Damon was pouring himself a glass of scotch. "We're missing the party. I'll have one of those." Katherine said to him.
I looked at Stefan, Damon mimicked the voice of a servant boy. "Right away Miss Katherine."
He gives her a glass. "Thank you." Katherine said to him. She drinks the drink. He grabs her and pushes her against the wall. He tries to stake her but Stefan stops him.
"No, no! Damon, don't!" Stefan begged him.
"Yes, Damon, please. You kill me, you kill Elena and Alexa." She told him.
"The second the spell is lifted, I'm gonna drive a stake right through your heart." He told her.
"God, you're hot. When did you get so hot?" She asked him, the guy I danced with eariler walked in. "Elijah." She said with a smirk.
"The spell on this room has been broken, you're free to leave." Katherine's witch said to us all. Elijah took the moonstone from the witch as two warlocks showed up behind her.
They grabbed her and muttered a spell. "No you took my magic." She said them.
"Never cross an Original." Elijah told her.
Lucy ran, Katherine walked into Elijah's arms. I smiled she was happy and deserved to be happy.
Damon and Stefan looked confused. "What is an Original?" Damon asked.
"The first vampires." I stated.
Elijah left with the moonstone and Katherine. "See you Alexa." She told me.
I sighed and went to leave, Stefan ran in front of me. "What Stefan?" I asked him.
"Meet me tomorrow and I'll explain everything about what happened with Clary. You're not her doppelganger. You're much more." He told me, leaving to look for Elena.
Damon looked at me, "See later Alexa. Nice job on stabbing me also." He told me leaving the room.
I sighed and left the room, Isobel found me. "You need to come with me. I have a house for you." She told me.
I nodded, she took me to a foreclosure house. "Wow this is amazing." I said to her.
"It's yours." She said to me, she gave me the deed. "Meet me here tomorrow morning before school so we can sort this out." She told me.
I nodded, "Thank you mum." I told her.
She smiled, "I never wanted to give you up Alexa. You are my daughter more than Elena." She told me.
I smiled and hugged her, she hugged me back. "Let's get you home to your friends." She said to me, she dropped me off at Davina's. I walked inside to see Jeremy and Davina look at me.
"Tyler just left town. What's that?" she asked me.
"Isobel, my birth mom gave me a deed to a house. It's mine, I'm gonna take it. You can move in if you want Jeremy." I told him.
He smiled and hugged me picking me up. "Of course I miss living with you sis." He told me setting me down.
Davina hugged me, "You can stay whenever you want D." I told her, hugging her back.
"I would like that, tomorrow we get you to sign this and grab the stuff from Caroline's place." She told me, we all agreed to meet at 6am to sort everything out before school.
A/N – skipping over the next episode slightly the tomb stuff. Alexa has her own place, Klaus will be showing up a lot sooner. He will already have a wolf and vampire ready for the ritual Jules and a random vampire named Dami.
